I just had to update my review to give a massive shoutout to the incredible team here. Bianca Z. was our server, and honestly, she is consistently my absolute favorite person to see at Lazy Dog. She is incredibly friendly, attentive, and always suggests the absolute best things on the menu. Every time we visit, she treats us exactly like family. She is truly the star of the show! A big thanks to Marilu as well, who got our food out to us incredibly fast and was so warm and welcoming. Lazy Dog is honestly the perfect place to visit any day of the week, and I love that the kitchen can accommodate so many requests, making dining out completely stress-free. Staff like Bianca and Marilu are what keep us coming back. Already planning our visit for next weekend!

Enjoyed the paws on the patio event that they hosted! My dog was able to enjoy one free meal and gobbled up his grilled burger and brown rice bowl. My partner and I also enjoyed our meals and the pet patio was very spacious and clean. You may see some pet hair tumble weeds on the floor, and if you're not up for that, there's plenty of seating inside as well. Will definitely come back as a meal treat for my pup

Since their departure, the food space that Claim Jumper occupied in Fremont has been aptly replaced by Lazy Dog in nearby Newark. My little family tried the place upon their opening, but we were unimpressed. Fortunately, they have improved their business model and are well focused on the food and ambiance now. Now, having return several times, I would say Lazy Dog has cemented its place in this area as one of the best family-style restaurants. Today, my little family is back for dinner. The bar area is alive with FIFA fans, but the rest of the location is still easily serving its dinner crowd. Our server, Sofia (yes, with an F), cheerfully and professionally provided us with excellent service. As far as theme and chain restaurants go, you can find better than Lazy Dog, of course, but not by much. Well done. Good dog!

Went here yesterday with my friend for dinner at 6:15. Had no problem getting seated immediately inside with my service dog. The place was busy also. Our waiter was very attentive the whole time. We ordered the 3 appetizer option : hot honey feta ( amazing!!), Brussel sprouts ( delicious!) and the tangy chips We each also ordered burgers and drinks. Our order came out to $100 with tip. Extremely reasonable. And everything we ate was delicious

Recently I had a chance to FINALLY try a Lazy Dog Restaurant (locations all over...Las Vegas, Oxnard, Rancho Cucamonga and many more) for an attended business get-together. The Newpark Mall location has plenty of parking and is easy to find. We arrived after 4:30pm...right on time for Happy Hour (good time to go...better prices) and were seated promptly at a table in front of a very large stone fireplace. The interior was expansive and the decor had a "clean western" style look to it. Not a huge crowd...as we left though, it did start to fill up. Menus were presented and our order was taken within a reasonable timeframe....but the "lag time" between ordering and actual food on the table, was disturbing. Several people at our table were "wondering" and when ya begin to "wonder" something isn't right (if you know what I mean). Okay now...my dear Yelp Review Readers, the following was my order: for Appetizers we had... (Shared) - Bacon Candy (Bacon baked with brown sugar, crushed red pepper chili flakes, black pepper) 5/5...if you're a bacon "lover" this should make you "swoon" and is a must try! (Also shared) - Crispy Deviled Eggs (Lightly fried, topped with smoked paprika + bacon candy) 5/5...just plain yummy! For my Main...a Bison Burger (All-natural durham ranch grass-raised Wyoming bison + wagyu beef, havarti, caramelized onion + bacon jam, tomatoes and mayo) 5/5...the caramelized onions and bacon jam "made" this burger outstanding! The burger also came with a Caesar "style" Salad 3/5 ...this was nothing to rave about but was fine. And a side of Pickled Cucumbers 3/5...expected "something more favorable"...so again, nothing to rave about. For Dessert...Campfire Cookies (Housemade cookies with white + milk chocolate chips, caramel, pretzels and sea salt, served warm) 3/5...nothing wrong with the cookies, but I wasn't dazzled by these (especially with a $7+ price tag for 4 cookies). The overall dining experience was a "mixed bag" for me...although, it wasn't worse than being "average". The ambience was good...food service was slow...some of the offerings were really very good, others were completely average. On this occasion, in this Yelper's opinion the Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar at the Newpark Mall in Newark earned this "average...something's are hot but others are not" 3 Star review.

I recently revisited this restaurant after previously leaving a 5-star review based on a positive experience with a server named Bianca. However, my more recent visit was disappointing and changed my impression. We had a $10 off $40 coupon we had received on a prior visit, which we didn't realize was expired. Our server said she'd honor the coupon if we left a review and asked multiple times if had left a review with her name. We also overheard the same server asking another table to leave a review during their meal in exchange for a discount. Our service on this visit was poor overall and the host stand was not particularly welcoming so I didn't appreciate her pressuring us to leave a positive review over a expired coupon when she could have said it didn't work as we didn't know it had expired. We were trying to be polite and nice but the whole interaction was disingenuous on her end. Regardless of individual staff, the experience felt inappropriate given the emphasis on reviews during service. Based on this visit, I would not return or recommend the restaurant, which is unfortunate because I was a regular. Hopefully management can allow for more organic and genuine reviews instead of positive reviews in exchange for discounts.

Good food, good customer service and good value. Came for happy hour and order 2 dishes: chicken lettuce wrap @ only 300+ calories and Korean fried chicken bao 700+ calories. Flavor is a little sweet but is good. They are $8 each. Friday afternoon is packed due to NBA playoff. Service is still good and attentive. Definitely be back for more.

Love this spot! Bianca Z. is an amazing server, she is super friendly, got the customizations right, checked in on us frequently, and overall just had great energy and smile. We will be back, the food is also super consistent.

We went here a few times because we have a fur baby and she's allowed in their patio. Service is great! They have $6 meals for our dog. Ambiance is nice, they have a fireplace in the patio and there's always lots of seating. Inside the restaurant, it has a sporty bar atmosphere, their food and drinks prices are not really that expensive. We like hanging out at this place with our fur baby.

I love the atmosphere at Lazy Dog. I come here with friends for cocktails or I come with my sister to enjoy the butter cake with a hot tea. They cater to any occasion. Also, I've never had issues with their service since I've been coming to this location for years. Friendly, attentive, efficient. Food is always served fresh and you're surrounded by a good crowd.

Such a great dining experience at Lazy Dog Restaurant tonight. We sat with our dog on the patio, and they brought out a water bowl for him. Service was consistently friendly. We enjoyed the vibe on the spacious patio, with a fire pit in the middle and comfy seating. I could not stop eating the candy bacon; it's insanely delicious... and the lettuce wraps were equally as yummy. My girlfriend kept raving about the soups too. And all along the way, Morgan kept checking on us and tending to us wonderfully. She was helpful, personable, and all around awesome. We will be back.

Always love coming here with our dog, and kicking it on the patio for Happy Hour. Our dog loves the hamburger patty with veggies (we opt out of the rice)

Lazy Dog's been in our radar for some time so my son, my wife, and I decided to come and check it out over Valentine's day. The inside is big, it feels homie with a fireplace, along with log like decor around the floor. It gives sorta like a Texas style vibe to us and we love it. We sat down after being directed to a table and here's what we ordered: BBQ Bison Meatloaf (5 / 5) The meatloaf came out perfectly with mash potatoes underneath and spinach. It was mixed in with the perfect amount of BBQ sauce that's not over powering with hints of gravy. This doesn't get you sick of the dish quickly like other overly sweet BBQ sauce which was pivotal to this dish. The haystack onions on top is a nice touch to finish. Steak + Veggie Kebabs (4 / 5) This dish, although not completely identical to ones you would be able to get in a Middle Eastern restaurant; The taste was extremely close. I'm always a fan when the chef studies dishes of other culture instead of whipping up something they "think" tastes similar. They have the typical white yogurt sauce and tzatziki sauce on the side which compliments this dish well. Kid's chicken teriyaki & steamed rice with broccoli (5 / 5) My son loved it. When I tasted the chicken, I would say it's a hybrid of orange chicken with Kung Pao chicken sauce? It's a little out of the ordinary but it didn't taste bad though. It was pretty good surprisingly and my son ate the whole thing. Kudos to the restaurant in having healthy options for the kids! Apple-Huckleberry Open Face Pie (5 / 5) When you see a title like this as a desert, don't you wanna try it? Well, I sure did. The pie portion is made up of bread sticks that are mixed in with cut up apple. It is mixed in with maple syrup and cinnamon evenly with a topping of a nice large scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was nothing like I envisioned it to be. With how the maple syrup and cinnamon was placed in the dish I couldn't help myself but keep eating it one bite after another. My wife and I finished it while we were full, yea, this desert's a winner. Lazy Dog is a sleeper if you haven't tried it. I rarely like every dish that's ordered in a restaurant, but I genuinely liked everything. The waiter was friendly and on the way back we were already talking about our next trip coming back....LOL.

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar

Where is the dog's menu list?

Do google search and menu can be found on LD website

Can you watch football games here?

yes you can watch the season's sports here but of course you have to take drinks at least.

Can we bring dogs for dining in?

Dogs are allowed in Patio dining. You can order food amd water for them as well.

Can I put our name on a list for a table?

When I was there last yes there was a wait list you can get on. Pretty sure via website, in person & call in. They are very popular

Do they serve pancakes or waffles for brunch? I've seen several mentions of pancakes on the reviews but can't find them on the menu?

I don't recall pancakes of waffles on my brunch visits. They were serving donut holes and French toast. Menu does change periodically so maybe at one time it was offered?

Is a party of 16 possible to have at the restaurant?

I believe you can if you call and arrange with the manager. The online option will not allow you to.

Is the jackfruit tostada still available? It was the best vegetarian item but I cannot find it on the menu anymore.

I remember it was part of their new spring menu and definitely it's seasonal hence may not show on the menu. It's called black bean jackfruit tostada. It's good to ask while you're ordering, if you don't see it on the menu, thanks

Great to see this place has wifi. I need a quiet place with wifi to work remotely. Does this place play loud music in the outdoor seating area? many restaurants even with outdoor dining have very loud music which makes it hard to work/take calls.

They play music but it isn't so loud to the point that you notice it or are bothered by it!

Are you reopen for indoor dining yet?

Yes, indoor seating is fully open

Is there a Brunch cut off time? Like do they stop offering brunch items after a certain time?...

    Weekend brunch 9am-2pm

Has this opened for outdoor dining?

Yes! I was there last Saturday. It's so nice!

Are they serving the PB Jelly Burger during COVID for pickup?

    Delivery or pickup

Does anyone know what the vegan options are here? :)

Menu is seasonal on some of it, but it is available online. I am eating more plant based, but not Vegan and I have not had any problems eating here numerous times.

Do they have dairy free options?

    Yes

    When is happy hour?

Happy Hour is every Monday through Friday from 3pm-6pm and on Sunday through Thursdays from 9pm till closing time. You just have to make sure you are in the Bar or the Patio area. The earlier you go the better cause I have been here at 5 PM and the…

Do you have any gluten free items?

They have an entire gluten free menu

    Is the patio area heated?

It has heat lamps but honestly I was still freezing my behind off. They also have a big fire pit but that's only for people who are drinking and just lounging. Not comfortable enough for a proper meal.

What is the max number of guests for a large party reservation?

I don't know if there is a maximum?! They can probably answer that, The huge communal table looks like it holds about twelve, And I'm sure they can accommodate a larger party.

Do you have to call them for dine in with your dog?

No, just go in but you have to sit at the outside patio. They also have a dog's menu.

    When will this open?

    November 12th!

I've been coming to Nation's in Fremont since I was a kid, so this review comes from someone who has always enjoyed eating here. It's one of my favorite burger spots, which is why this visit was disappointing. The burger was noticeably smaller than I remember and had only a small amount of lettuce. The chili cheese fries also seemed like a much smaller portion than they used to be. For dessert, I ordered cheesecake, but the soggy strawberries on top took away from it. Even though this wasn't one of my better visits, I still appreciate the rewards program. Their points app is easy to use, and I was able to redeem a free birthday slice of pie, which was a nice perk. My family and I, two adults and two young children, came here during Ramadan for iftaar. Before arriving, I specifically called ahead to ask whether we needed to come early because I understood restaurants can become very busy during iftaar time. I was told that arriving 10 to 15 minutes before iftaar would be perfectly fine and that our food would be ready around the time of breaking fast. Based on that reassurance, we came about 20 minutes before iftaar expecting a smooth experience. Instead, the moment we walked in, it felt like we were invisible. The restaurant was crowded but not chaotic. We sat down and waited while servers walked past us repeatedly without acknowledging us. Eventually, I had to flag someone down myself just to place an order. I even asked directly how long the food would take because we were fasting all day and had two small children with us. The server confidently assured us the food would arrive around iftaar time. That never happened. When iftaar finally arrived, all we received were dates and water. No appetizers, no main dishes, nothing. We continued waiting while table after table around us received their food. Meanwhile, our children became increasingly upset and hungry. Anyone with young kids knows that after a full day of fasting, asking them to wait another 20, 30, even 50 minutes is nearly impossible. Our kids were crying, exhausted, and confused as they watched other families eat while we sat there with empty plates. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of honesty and accountability. Every time we asked about our order, we were told, "It's coming soon." Then eventually the server disappeared entirely for nearly 20 minutes and avoided us altogether. A woman later approached us, but instead of apologizing or taking our concerns seriously, she became dismissive and defensive. By this point, nearly 50 minutes had passed since we ordered, and she still insisted we "shouldn't complain" (in Farsi) because the food would come "soon." That response was honestly more upsetting than the delay itself. A simple apology, honesty, or basic compassion toward a fasting family with small children would have gone a long way. We eventually left the restaurant feeling humiliated, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. What saddened me most is that this happened during Ramadan, a month centered around patience, generosity, hospitality, and good character. In Afghan culture and Islamic ethics, guests are supposed to be treated with dignity and care, especially during iftaar. Halal is not only about the food being permissible. Halal is also about honesty, fairness, respect, and how people are treated. Sadly, this restaurant failed in all of those areas. We will never return, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for respectful service or a welcoming family environment.
