I have been a member here for 5 months specifically to treat my melasma, and I have seen absolutely no improvement. If you have serious skin concerns, save your money and go to a board-certified dermatologist with medical-grade lasers. Skin Laundry's equipment is clearly not strong enough for real results, yet every single visit feels like a high-pressure sales pitch. They are constantly trying to upsell you on products and "add-ons" rather than focusing on the treatment you're actually paying for. I'm honestly shocked they have as many good reviews as they do--nearly every friend of mine who has tried them has had the same complaints and has already cancelled their memberships. The lack of professionalism peaked when a staff member removed my $1,600 David Yurman necklace during a facial without my consent and lost it. Despite the fact that their employee handled and lost my property, the District Manager refused to take any responsibility and told me if must have fallen off on the street...... They were quick to overcharge me on cancellation fees (charging $50 when their own texts state $25), but they are incredibly slow to help when they actually cause a problem. I've been a loyal Skin Laundry member for over 2 years primarily at the Flatiron location, but my recent experiences at the Tribeca studio have been disappointing. The customer service here has been completely unreasonable--just look at the other one-star reviews to see similar themes. All the highly rated reviews are due to promotion in office, offering free face masks for great reviews. For a signature laser facial, you're booked for 15 minutes, yet the treatment never takes the full time (it often wraps up in about 10 minutes or less). Over the years, I've consistently been on time or just a few minutes late, and the Flatiron team has always accommodated me without issue. Even when I'm on time, I'm often seen about 5 minutes after my scheduled slot due to normal delays, which I've never minded because I understand things happen. However, during my third visit to the Tribeca location for a 3:45 appointment, I texted at 3:38 about a potential 5-minute delay due to subway issues, then rushed over on a Citi Bike since the subway never came. I arrived at 3:49--less than 5 minutes late--yet was turned away by a staff member with zero flexibility. Their email policy vaguely mentions a fee for being over 5 minutes late, but nothing about outright canceling the appointment, especially when the treatment itself takes under 10 minutes (and I know this from years of experience). Again, I have been ontime to appointments before and have been seen 5+ minutes late, and never did I cause any issue. I even spoke with the manager, explaining that a slight delay should be understandable in NYC, but my concerns were dismissed. I pointed out that I was less than 5 minutes late and that the entire facial takes under 10 minutes, so they easily had enough time to complete my treatment. Instead, they wasted everyone's time by arguing with me. Nothing happened, and I was sent away, and had to rebook my appointment for three days later. My subsequent appointment was today (3/17) at 3:15. I arrived at 3:12, was seen at 3:14, and was out the door--receipt signed and all--by 3:23. That's less than 9 minutes total ( I even pointed it out to the front desk staff that their appointments takes than 10 minutes) It's clear that the Tribeca location's customer service leaves much to be desired. While the facialists themselves are great, it's unfortunate that the front desk and management create unnecessary cancellations over minimal delays, leaving you not ever wanting to come back to this location. Once my membership is up, I'll be canceling it, even though I've seen improvements in their lasers and results. I know other places will value their customers and be way more understanding. Until then, I'll be going out of my way to the Flatiron studio, where the customer service is top-notch and they understand that, in NYC, things happen that might make you 5 minutes late. For those looking for a consistent experience, I highly recommend sticking with the Flatiron location--especially if you can book with Oliver. He is AMAZING! read more

Do not come here unless you want to contract MRSA. One of the most unsanitary places ever. MRSA is a flesh eating bacteria that can be contracted from contaminated surfaces or skin to skin contact! I have had a membership at Skin Laundry for 1.5 years now and have seen constant changes in the equipment and facials that are used. Today, I went in for my monthly power duo facial that I booked a month ago and was surprised to have tape being put over my eyebrows and around my hair. I asked if this was a new process and was told that the laser could singe away my hairs. Then, ultrasound gel was applied all over my face since that's how this new laser works. My service provider was lovely so absolutely no issue there. But this is unacceptable for a change to this degree. I should have been notified ahead of time on this new process with taping and gel and been asked if I wanted to use the old laser I am used to. I was told someone already had booked the dry laser for my appointment time which is why I got the one using gel. I'm currently paying $260 a month for this service. I should have been made aware of exactly what would be happening at my appointment well in advance. I'm honestly not sure I'll be continuing my membership as it seems those in charge at Skin Laundry are constantly changing everything. Honestly makes me question if they know what they're doing. Could this procedure in fact actually be harmful and damage my skin down the line? I've seen them change the names of the facials, add suddenly more powerful lasers, change the equipment because they have issues getting parts and then change equipment because the ones they have keep breaking and add in some ultrasound gel and tape to avoid harm to the skin and hair. This is a major problem and you will lose customers because of this and I'm sure you have already. This is quite the opposite of customer service. Communication is key and you have been anything but transparent. I'll be rethinking my membership here in the coming days since I'm not sure my values align anymore with Skin Laundry. I hope you're reading all of your customer complaints and frustrations and that you strongly reconsider your approach and serious lack of transparency. read more

As someone who unfortunately has dealt with acne their entire adult life (eff you hormones), it's nice to be able to have a laser treatment to help clean out my pores and freshen up my oily skin every now and then. The policy at SL keeps changing though as do the prices so I don't know if I'll buy another pack when my current one runs out but in the beginning, I really enjoyed my treatments and I did see a noticeable improvement. Not crazy improvements mind you but I did notice less cystic breakouts and blackheads. If you have sensitive skin like me I do recommend not doing these treatments every week, maybe every other or once a month. With your skin, less is more - DON'T. PISS. OFF. YOUR. SKIN. This location in TriBeCa is much smaller than their Flatiron setup but it's usually easier to get a last minute appointment in my experience. It's conveniently located within a block of the 1/2 train Chamber Street station so it's perfect for a quick stop on the way home! read more

WORST SERVICE EVER! This place is hands down one of the biggest rip-offs I came across. They get you to do a membership of a minimum $150 per month and the hydrafacial is literally is a 1 min zap from a 18 year old. I tried to follow up with them to cancel from being effected by layoffs and they texted me with "frozen" account for three months even though I told them repeatedly that I will not even be here, I'm going back to Sydney. They don't have a notification in place where they tell you of next billing date and their portal is not user friendly at all. There are other providers thats cost friendly with even more superb service. This place ain't it. read more
