Great authentic food. Trucker style breakfasts w great corned beef hash and perfectly made eggs every time. Excellent Mediterranean cuisine especially the Moussaka (lasagna w bechemel layered w eggplant and sautéed ground beef). The place has a Mom and Pop feel, not fancy but functional and the service is excellent. Skippers is always packed Sunday mornings but they serve the entire menu anytime. I often bring out-of-towners here because it's reasonably priced and the food is exquisite. Try their bfast or something a little more exotic. You may even see a bellydancer with bells but no whistles. lol read more

I vacillated between 4 and 5 stars. Settled on 5 for two reasons: 1) As a Mom and Pop diner you can't get any better 2) All the staff was on their game. We really felt Sam added to our experience; she was very knowledgable. Both of us had a veggie omelette that was fixed to our individual specifications. We both loved theme. The home fries came cooked dark, slightly crispy --- just like I like them. That was a bit of a surprise -- I usually have to order them cooked deep brown. Having been away from home two nights I took a piece of baklava home to my daughter; she is trying to convince me I should go get more! My friend and I are looking forward to coming back with our kids to try the Greek food and will update review then. read more

Parking: Restaurant has a medium size parking lot but it fills up quickly. Time and Day: Came on a Sunday afternoon at 12:00. Big mistake, the place is packed and full. The wait for a table of two didn't take too long though, maybe around 15 minutes I would say. Food: I ordered the Pork Chops & Eggs ($9.25) and it is filling! You get two big pieces of pork chops, two eggs (your style), toast (recommend you get the bread with raisin), and your side of potatoes (French fries or grits). I recommend you get the French fries because they are not the same typical fries you find at restaurants. They are chopped and the texture overall taste better. For $10, the pork chops were cooked perfectly, grits were good, and the toast was decent. Overall, the food here tasted like fresh homemade breakfast that is better than restaurants like Egg & I. Food gets a (4/5) here. Service: Basic service here. Waitress was busy with other tables as the restaurant was pack. However, the owner (I think it is the owner?) is polite and courteous when we were paying our check. Service gets a (3/5) here. Price: Cheap price for delicious breakfast food. I say the price tag is worth it. Overall: Delicious breakfast food for a good cheap price. I can tell the quality here is better than other breakfast restaurants like Egg & I, IHOP, and Dennys. We recently moved to the area and were beyond happy to be so close to this gem of a restaurant. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by what I believe was the owner. He put his arm around my shoulder and walked us to our table. He was very polite and it was nice to see a hands-on owner (no pun intended). Our waitress, Courtney, was also a delight and gave us recommendations for our order. We told her it was our first visit and checked on us frequently but never annoyingly. I ordered the Pork Chops & Eggs and my girlfriend ordered the New Orleans Omelette. The pork chops are huge and can definitely be shared. In fact, we had my leftovers for dinner! They were juicy, char-grilled and had generously seasoned, almost tasted like a steak. The eggs were good and went perfectly with the rye toast. The home fries were delicious and full of flavor. The New Orleans omelet was extremely good and packed with cooked onions, bell peppers and I'm not sure what else. The salsa is a little spicy so I'm glad it comes on the side. My Wife and I had Breakfast at Skippers last Sunday. I ordered a Ham & Cheese Omelet home fries and toast. My Son told us that the food was fabulous. I'm sorry to say I cannot say the same thing about what I had. First of All I was a Chef for over 20 years. This Omelet was dry. A slice of cheese was tossed into the mix along with the ham. The Home fries were a mess, dry, falling apart, meaning they were old and had been sitting around overcooking. Sorry for the bad review. Tried to visit this restaurant a few weeks ago on a Sunday after church and there was a line out the door, didn't stay. Was happy to see there was no line on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm. They seem to have authentic Greek food but we just went for breakfast. Pancakes and sausage, it's hard to mess that up. Our server wasn't super attentive but the food came pretty fast. Came for the first time since we heard this is a popular breakfast spot in Kemah. As we arrived to the restaurant there was a long line. When we approached the hostess to put our name in line she stated that there is no list and that she remembers who is next and would get us when it was our turn. Now there were well over 20 people waiting. Many were frustrated because they were cut multiple times in line. What we came to realize was that the hostess chooses who she thinks is next but it seemed as if she had her favorites already. As people of color we really did not feel welcome at this establishment with all the stares we received. Even with the demeanor the hostess had towards us. This is my go to breakfast spot. Sure its a Greek diner also but I have only ever had Breakfast here. This is where all the locals go. The food is really nothing special but it is solid down home breakfast food and a fair price. It is mostly fresh homemade food cooked to order. Great fresh eggs, Corn beef hash, grits, pancakes, kielbasa, breakfast sandwiches, and more. The only thing I did not care for was the chicken fried steak. I love chicken fried steak and eggs but the steak here is clearly not home made. Its not bad but it is no better than Dennys. The biscuits are not to be missed and their version of hash brown potatoes is great. So if you are in the Kemah area and want a good southern breakfast this is your place. read more

Ordered to go food we were told it would be between 20 and 30 minutes. The food should have been ready by 7:15. My wife sat in restaurant until after 7:45 still awaiting our food. I'll called manager and he cussed me out and said he was busy. Terrible attitude, will never be back at this restaurant. It's a little far for breakfast but we go here every once in a while. This rating is only for breakfast, I've never had anything else at Skipper's. They're spotty. We usually share the Bacon & Cheese Omelet with onion added. Today it was overcooked and a little dry. That's not usual. As others have mentioned, the service is a little slow and often indifferent. I much prefer country fried potatoes to be chunks rather than shaved potatoes. Somehow this sounds like a negative review but it isn't intended to be. The breakfasts are usually good. I would have given three and a half stars if that were possible. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Houston area. I had the Gyro Omelette with Feta. Incredible! The feta really completed it. I also got the hashbrown instead of grits. I'm glad i did because the hashbrowns were excellent. The crispiness made it excellent. Some parts were fried to a wonderful crunchiness. Great texture. It came with salsa too which at first i wasn't sure what to do with it. I didn't want it to affect the Greek flavor. So I ate the salsa with the hashbrowns and BOOM that salsa is really good. I also got the biscuit instead of toast. Ginormous biscuit! Some people said it was dry but mine was perfect. Now I would normally give 4 stars for a good meal and 5 for something unique or extrodinary. The kielbasa is why it got the 5th star! So good! I actually wanted the porkchop but they do not offer it as a side to the greek omelette. So I went with the kielbasa and wasn't disappointed! Service is outstanding! The servers actually may be another reason for the 5 stars. The place is incredibly busy in peak times and my server, who may be the daughter of the owner, still was extremely attentive and always smiling!! Love this place! The owner is a great guy and helps make sure everyone is seated. PLEASE be patient. This is very popular place and does get crowded so you may have to wait a little. Its worth it!!
