I'm so impressed by the manager, as she was dealing with a customer complaint when I came in. From the gist of it, she had ordered catering and at some point changed the time of her order, which she hadn't confirmed made it to the final order. Fast forward to today, and her order was still set to be ready at her original request time. She was understandably frustrated, but what impressed me was the calm, helpful way the manager attempted multiple strategies to solve the problem, including offering to deliver the order to event, 45-60 minutes away! What a fabulous problem solver with customer service in mind! I hope the customer comes back with a 5* review That said, my reason for reducing by one star has nothing to do with the facilities nor staff, which were both phenomenal! Three items of concern, and one wish: 1. Orders cannot be placed by phone. I'd prefer to order ahead and pay at their register but any options for pay ahead were via website or app 2. Tartar sauce is $1 (at least through the app that I used). I wish a portion of fish clearly came with a free condiment, offered at either point of sale (app) or at pickup 3. I am confused as to why Skips is not rated 5-stars?! Skips is among my top favorites. Every item I have ordered, including the loaded mac & cheese, fish sandwich, shrimp Poboy, fried fish, and peach cobbler, has been amazing. They put some kind of seasoning on top that made it remind me of sour cream and onion chips, and it was so tasty! Loved the kick from the Skip's sauce too. On to the main event - the loaded fries!! My husband ordered these and I'm glad that he did because I totally missed it. I figured they were just going to be regular fries with chicken and sauce on top so that's why I didn't give it a second thought. When we opened the box I had no idea it was also topped with mac and cheese - game changer!! I was eyeing the mac and cheese on the sides menu but didn't see any meal options that came with a side so that's why I opted for that chicken bites meal. But these loaded fries were delicious - the mac and cheese on top is so cheesy and the chicken was so tender. I like all three sauces they put on it too - ranch, hot, and Skip's house sauce. The actual store is pretty spacious, mostly all 2-seater tables but there are a few larger booths in the side room that we were able to sit at. It's not the most enticing interior design but we were hungry so we stayed there to eat. Decor and seating is several steps down from the Indian restaurant that used to occupy that spot. While the cooking seems competent, I've had orders that weren't correct on several occasions. Since they package you to go order out of your view, you may get home to find that the contents and quality are not what you expected. I do appreciate restaurants showing me my order before bagging it. I was especially disappointed on my last visit to pay extra for Cod fillets and receive obvious fish sticks that could be had in the freezer of any local market. I don't even know where to start when it comes to this review. I've been wanting to try this place and always drive by, but this day I was running errands left and right with my son (5yr old) and had time to stop and grab something to eat. So the place was not full. The sandwich is $11.99 ($12) by itself and with a combo it is $15.99 ($16) with taxes $18.05 for a chicken sandwich, fries, and drink. I went ahead with the hot Nashville sandwich instead of the original. The lobby was pretty clean inside. The walls are painted red with some wood trims. It looks nice. So after 24 minutes. I finally got my hot chicken sandwich. Visually it looked great. It had some sauce on it and oil oozing out of it. It was more of a long chicken tender rather than a patty. The chicken had a good taste to it but it was not a crunchy type of batter. The sauce was good. The thing I really liked was the coleslaw. It was what saved the sandwich. This place was very busy but still got food out at a decent pace. The food fair will definitely get you full. The chicken sandwiches are hefty and the pieces of fish are big. Shrimp had a good breading on them as well but the sides were lacking. No seasoning on the fries, not even salt. Wanted some fish and we decided on Skips. Location: we choose the Florin location. The parking is limited but we got a spot right in front. Ordering: you can order online, call or walk in. We choose to walk in. Ordering time varies. A sign listed states 15-20 minutes after ordering depending on the traffic is the wait time. I checked before ordering and they assured it wouldn't be more than 15 minutes because they didn't have a lot of orders. You will get a text when you order is ready it was 25 minutes for our order. Ordered the 2 item 2 piece with jumbo shrimp and catfish with for 14.99 and the item 3 with catfish, chicken strips and jumbo shrimp $19.99 they come with fries and a hawaiian roll. The item #2 review the fries were not hot I would assume they made them first and they were the first placed in the box. They shrimp and catfish had a good flavor with cornmeal consistency. The shrimp and catfish were a good side portion for the price. You can upgrade to colossal shrimp upcharge or 3 dollars. Decided to stay with the jumbo shrimp. For an extra dollar you can add a fountain drink from coke product's. I had a cherry coke which was amazing!! Onto the item 3: The chicken strip were a bit tough to eat, maybe over cooked? Catfish and shrimp were really good in the cornmeal consistency batter not fried to long just enough. Fries were also Luke warm. Side condiments were very small portion as in this picture maybe given a dollop or two of tartar sauce in the condiment cup. For a Monday night dinner for two we spent $40 bucks.
