This feels like a hotel bar that just doesn't want a good review. The food was pretty good. Chicken quesadillas took almost an hour to come out on a Friday night where it didn't seem too busy in the restaurant. Also the bartender seemed to be trying to get home asap! Food stops at 9 and she was not going to let anyone order at 9:01! Some of the other staff offered to get chips or snacks but Christina just told everyone they were out of luck. Only one bartender was allowed to dispense drinks and she just didn't seem to care too much. Several other staff there but they are only able to give water or tabs. It's like they just want customers to go away on a weekend night. Weird. Many places stay open based on crowds. Seems odd with a convention and sports teams on site that they will not entertain orders at 11:01 on a Friday night. Last call at 10:30. read more

We had driven from Tulsa & the first hotel choice was downright scary. Marriott to the rescue! The hotel was under major renovations but they were able to keep the Skylight Bistro open. So the ambiance was terrible; we were in some sort of conference room but the staff was delightful. Our food was just what we wanted & somewhere was hiding a full bar. It had been a very long day. Since I'm staying at the Marriott, it made sense to at least try the food in the bistro. I was seated very quickly and I then ordered the fish tacos. It was made with avocados, some cheese, lettuce, jalapenos and tilapia with some type of sauce. My first thought when I bit into it was that the fish needed a bit more seasoning. My second bite included a huge slice of jalapeno and there is where things went downhill. Those pieces of jalapeno overpowered the taste of the tacos. I love tasty spicy food but this was no longer fish tacos, it was more like jalapeno tacos. Best advice, skip the tacos or if you do get it order without the jalapeno and use the salt and pepper on the table. For dessert, go for the chocolate ganache with grand mariner. Surprisingly fancy "diamond in the rough" on the eastside. Great atmosphere with an enormous gas fireplace visible from the main entry and the restaurant. I got a ribeye steak with green beans and my wife got the same with asparagus. The ribeyes were cooked wonderfully and the cut was a huge thick piece of meat. It was so buttery tender the first bit surprised me and great flavor. The asparagus and beans were great as well, asparagus served with a lovely hollandaise sauce. We shared appetizers - the firecracker shrimp was great with the biggest shrimp I've ever seen with a tasty sauce on the tempura shrimp. The hummus platter with roasted vegetables was very good - the kale chips were amazing crunchy goodness. read more

I stayed at the Marriott for several weeks for work and decided to eat at the restaurant around the lobby, which turns out to be the Skylight Bistro. The food is great, breakfast and dinner, as well as a full, reasonably priced bar. They offer an all you can eat breakfast buffet with basic to more fine options for around 12 to 15$. I've had there nachos, French onion soup, and jumbo shrimp prepared two ways, cocktail and fried. My overall experience was good, other than the shrimp cocktail having a slight distasteful after taste. I recommend skylight for breakfast, or for a drink and dinner after work. read more

While staying at the Marriott I have been here now twice. I'll start with the bar in the hotel lobby. It has multiple TVs and a good selection of beer and wine. There is also a full service bar. The service was decent and the bar tender was attentive. I did not get any food but the renovated hotel does have a nice ambiance with a huge gas fireplace and high ceilings. For breakfast we did the buffet. They have a decent selection and they also have a lady making fresh omlettes and waffles. The omlettes were ok and the buffet items were again....ok. For the price of $17 pp and $9 per kid, it's not cheap. The service is very good and the eating area is clean. Overall, slightly pricey with average food but not a bad place to eat if you are staying at the hotel. read more

I ordered room service from Skylight. The guy who took my order informed me it would be an hour because the pizzas take longer to cook. I was happy when it arrived in just 30 min! The delivery man was very friendly and polite. I ordered a sausage and mushroom pizza. ....it was more like just a mushroom pizza.. the sausage was pretty much non existent unfortunately. And the mushrooms were ehh not that great. I actually ended up picking most of them off. The crust was good though. I wish I would have just ordered cheese or pepperoni. read more

I had dinner here while staying at the Marriott hotel. My experience eating at the bar was mixed. Service was good although my bill was incorrect when it arrived. The salad I had was very good. Fresh and well executed. The linguine was a different story. It was drowned in a thick salty sweet sauce that probably contained my calorie intake for the entire day. If you don't want to leave the hotel, it's not a terrible option. read more

This place is a hidden gem. Located inside the Marriott Indianapolis East. They offer a nice selection of bistro food. The burgers are thick and juicy, cooked to exact specifications. Prices are surprisingly reasonable with high level atmosphere. I found the lighting on the inner dining area too bright, the outer dining area was more comfortable. This place is well worth checking out whether staying in the hotel or not. read more

I have stayed at this hotel several times and always have breakfast here. The food is good and it's convenient as a guest. Service leaves a little to be desired, the dining room is very spread out and if you get seated by the bar you're going to have a wait. I don't think I've seen more than two servers working at breakfast and they have to do everything. Seat guests, bus tables, stock the breakfast bar and handle large groups that require a lot of special ordering. Bottom line if you're a guest it's better than venturing out to one of the fast food restaurants on Shadeland Ave. But if your in a hurry I would pass. read more

Ok, this review is solely for the restaurant and the service. The bartenders throughout my weekend stay were wonderful, as was the guy who made our omelets. We finally decided to eat here on Sunday night, our last night visiting. There was one waiter and one waitress. It took either one forever to even acknowledge us. The waitress finally took our drink order, and then seemed to forget we existed. Finally got our drinks and placed a food order - a simple bowl of white chili. How hard can that be? I'm not sure because we never received it. The table next to us arrived 20 minutes after we did and had their food before us. We finally gave up and bought instant Mac and Cheese from the little store for my daughter. I don't eat processed crap so I just starved instead. I tried to say something to the manager working - Logan - and he could have cared less. Ugh. read more

Food was better than average for a hotel bar/lounge. Good beers on tap. Only problem was that this is a Hotel bar with HUGE TV's and they don't even have sports packages. Ate at this restaurant because I was staying at the Marriott. Food was very oily. The hashbrowns were swimming in oil. Would have given them better rating if I didn't find a hair in my food. I ordered eggs Benedict and found a hair between the egg and sauce. I am a gold member with Marriott so breakfast was already free. I asked for points and they only gave me 500 points ~ 5 dollars. Will be calling Marriott to complain about the food quality. read more

I agree that the food is quite good but the service, meh. If you order for take-out, be sure to check your order before you leave. I ordered the seafood flight (ahi ceviche, lump crab, jumbo shrimp cocktail) and a Caesar salad w/ flatbread. Got back to my hotel room & no shrimp or flatbread. Called, went back, got another bag, with one shrimp and still no flatbread. Yeesh! At least they threw in a delicious key lime pie. read more

Very nice place! The staff is helpful and very polite. The menu is simple and easy, not a book like most places. I got a burger and it was great! The atmosphere is relaxed and it's a good place to being friends for a beer and some great food. My server was terrible though. Asked for ketchup with my meal, never got it. I sat with no drink for 5 minutes, then had an empty drink halfway through my meal. She never brought ketchup and brought my bill and no water. I lost count how many times she said sorry to me and the people around me doe sucking. If you got a decent server, it's a good place. read more

The food was excellent and atmosphere great. We had a great waitress (Kim). The TVs are huge and there's a romantic marble fireside area. I'd come here even if I wasn't staying here!
