A Taste of Cincinnati in Florida! I was so excited to find a Skyline down here, and it did not disappoint. It truly felt like a slice of home. The Food: Everything was exactly how it should be. We ordered three plain coneys, a chilito with spaghetti and bean, and a chili cheese fry. The flavors were spot on, the perfect comfort meal! The Atmosphere & Service: The server was incredibly friendly and attentive. I was also really impressed by how well-maintained the restaurant was; the dining area and the bathrooms were spotless. A huge plus was seeing hand sanitizer available at every single table, it's clear they prioritize cleanliness here. The "Vibes": What really made the experience special was the authentic Cincinnati atmosphere. They even sell Grippo's chips and Graeter's ice cream! We were in the St Pete's area and made a special trip to this Skyline. The traffic was pretty bad getting there but once we got inside the restaurant everything was ok. We accidentally turned in too soon and had to park in the nearby hotel. We headed to our own seat and were quickly greeted. I asked for a gluten free menu and was happy to get the special allergy menu. I ordered the baked potato 3 way. It had chill, cheese and sour cream. It was really tasty but you have to like the Cincy style chilli which is pretty sweet and unique. It is a little different for sure. We also bought 2 pounds of goetta sausage. It's super expensive $13 a pound but you're paying for convenience. Would recommend trying but the chilli is sweet with cinnamon and cumin flavors. The service was excellent! Skyline Chili is a classic Cincinnati staple and unlike chili anywhere else. Poured over spaghetti at its base - it can be ordered 3-way (spaghetti, secret chili sauce, & mound of cheese on top) or 4-way (add beans) or 5-way (add onions) - always go 5-way for full messy flavorful pleasure! AND you have to have at least a few coneys ( medium size hot dogs on steamed bun loaded with chili sauce, onions and a ton of cheese on top). Omg I never knew this was here until we were driving back to Tampa! We went to one in Cincinnati Ohio. Needless to say we made a U-turn and went to go to go food! Being as we had always are why not have it for dinner! It wasn't full inside and we were waited on immediately. It's just like the one the SkyLine we went too! I hadn't been to Skyline for quite some time, so stopped by after a nearby appointment. I intended to order two Coney Island hot dogs, but changed my mind upon being told the hot dogs were generic beef and pork dogs, not the higher quality Sabrett's, Nathans, or Vienna all beef dogs most frequently offered in the area. I ordered a small 5-Way for $8.59 thinking I would get more than the absurdly minuscule serving dish filled with a countable number of beans and spaghetti noodles, a tablespoon or two of chili and a smattering of onions beneath a deceptively fluffy and tall nest of finely shredded cheese. I get it - I ordered the small. Still yet, in most "step-above fast food" restaurants you typically get more than what you pay for, certainly not less. Add to it a five-dollar bottle of Coors Light that wasn't any better or any colder than the $3.50 bottles that seems to be the off-beach norm for these type places. When this location first opened I recall getting a sample for about the same size of that which I just paid nearly 9 bucks for. I made quick work of my costly lunch and nurtured my normally cheap beer in an effort to feel as if there were some sort of value to what amounted to be a small, costly, albeit tasty $16.62 afternoon snack. I'm sure I'll be back in a year or two when the mood hits, but it's certainly not a place I'd frequent regularly. read more

This has all the elements of a Skyline in Cincy. The walls have tons of photos from Great American ballpark, Fountain Square, and the downtown Cincinnati skyline at night. They've added some nice local touches as well, with photos of Clearwater beach and jerseys from the local high school. They have every detail as well...they greet you with crackers and hot sauce, the chili is perfect, and they even have Pepsi products and York peppermint patties at the register. The staff is always friendly and quick as well! INCOMING NITPICK: This is a strange criticism, but they overload everything with the chili. The coneys are incredibly sloppy, and the 3 ways have chili drops smeared all over the plates. It'd be a _perfect_ Cincy skyline experience with a little less chili and more cheese. A 3 way should have enough chili to cover the spaghetti with a mound of cheese on top (like I said, a total nitpick!). As a native Cincinnatian, it's a blessing to have a Skyline here, and I think they do an outstanding job. If you're curious about Cincinnati chili, or visiting from the Queen City, check it out! I am a huge fan of Skyline when I am in the Cincy area. If you have never been there are ongoing "fights" between fans of Skyline and some of the other Cincinatti chili places, primarily Gold's. The style of chili is Greek in origin and contains a good amount of cinammon. In addition, the beef is boiled down, which gives it a very different texture. For skyline, the normal presentation is spaghetti or a small coney dog as the base, covered with chili and cheese (a lot of cheese). You can also have beans and/or onions. The setup here is very much like the Cincy locations, with a large bar around the kitchen and seating around the room. Service was not quite on par with the locations I had been to before, but not enough to complain. I ended up getting 2 conies while I was there and decided to go more keto for dinner and ordered chili and cheese on top of dogs. Flavor still pretty much on point and way too much cheese, but I expect that. The togo (pictured) was the depressing point. Usually ordering this way gives a decent scoop of chili on top of the dogs. As you can see, the chili proportions are extremely light here. I will definitely hit a Skyline again, but not sure about the one in Clearwater. read more

So glad I came! I'm a true fan of Skyline. This means I go out of my way to make a stop if I'm near a location since I don't have one close to home. On a recent trip across the state to the GulfCoast, I searched for Skyline Chili and came across this one in Clearwater. What a pleasant visit! Considering it's in a strip mall with an entrance in the corner of the building, once inside, it's surprisingly spacious and open. This is one of the newer and cleanest that I've been to and has ample seating. Service was quick and friendly and very attentive throughout our meal, which also came fast even though we were there during the lunch rush on a Saturday. I ordered my usual four-way chili with spaghetti and my husband had two coney dogs. Both lived up to the Skyline standard. Delicious! If you're a fan, this is a must try location. Ah Skyline. I wish there was one in NY. As others have said, this is not your Texas red, but a Greek meat sauce with cinnamon, clove among other wonderful spices, poured on spaghetti with another pile of the finest shredded cheese on top. So when a friend came to visit me who has also been Skyline deprived he said we should go get some needless to say I was all for it as that Cincinnati chili is always one of my favorites! For me it's always been the same a small 5 way and a coney dog with their habanero cheese on top because that makes for a seriously yummy experience all around! This Skyline was awesome it reminded me of the good old days after trips to Kings Island as all the flavors were here and everything was just perfect including our service! I'm hoping to see more of these pop up around the Florida area as I always love myself some 5 Way! Skyline Chili is definitely an acquired taste - but I have acquired it, and sometimes the cravings are so strong I have to drive *across the bridge* just to fill my craving. People argue endlessly whether its actually chili or not, as its more similar to a meat sauce, but I don't care what they call it, as long as they throw it on my hot dogs and spaghetti. It was my first time trying this location, and I went on Super Bowl Sunday to eat in, plus get some to-go to eat during the game and support the poor Bengals. I had 2 coneys with cheese and a Greek salad there, and got a 3-way to go (spaghetti, chili, and cheese). The coneys are perfection: small hot dog, soft bun, topped with chili, and a mound of cheese. It literally melts in your mouth. I was pleasantly surprised with the Greek salad - it had lots of items in it including real Greek olives and chick peas. They did an excellent job with the to-go food - everything was wrapped carefully, and they included oyster crackers and hot sauce. Service was just okay - I never saw my server throughout my meal, so I had no soda refills, water, etc. She finally showed up when I was waiting in line to pay to give me my check. I was looking for a hotdog. This popped up #1on my Yelp search. Say no more! Nice open dining with a dinner feel. Our server was amazing and since we were not familiar with the 'way' she was helpful in explaining. Deb had not had the chili, at least she didn't remember I had made some when I made hotdogs at home, so the server brought us out a taster. She was not sold but was in for the adventure! After the 'training' on the way we decided to get a few dogs and a 4 way. Bogs were very tasty and the chili and onions were great. I had to get more onions to add to both of these. This is my husband's favorite place for chili. Now I know why. The chili is delicious! There are plenty of choices on the CONEYS side of the menu. If you are not a chili fan, you can choose something from the other side of the menu which features salads, wraps, burritos and vegetarian. Another menu features fries, chicken, potatoes, bowls, and desserts. During Covid-19 the menus are laminated on the table. The wait staff and cashier are wearing masks. Tables are wiped down after each use, and some tables are off limits (for social distancing). What hasn't changed is the friendly, positive atmosphere. Husband tells me that he always feels welcome, and even though we can't see smiles because of the masks, we can hear the friendliness and see the smile in our server's eyes. Husband had the regular 3 way chili - his usual. I had the small. Not as hungry. We both wore bibs to avoid splashes on our shirts. The servings are generous. Both were hot and delicious. We had the weekend off of work, well I didn't, I was working in bed while we were binge watching Stranger Things 4. We kept driving past this place for two weeks straight and were surprised we didn't have to go to Cincinnati to try it. They were short staffed so the lines were a little long, it's understandable. 4 way: spaghetti with onions and a shit ton of cheese (took a bunch of lactaid prior to this, did it work eh so so). It was good, interesting, different. The chili tasted like some cinnamon or all spice or could have been some smoky seasoning I couldn't put my finger on what it was. Luckily I'm slowly recovering from cinnamon allergy. Hit and miss when my throat closes up. Cheese coney: they were pretty small, but good, solid, simple. Four inches? My friend got two cheese coney's for $6. About the same as mine. My other friend got a small 4 way for $7.49. It was simply a small dish of pasta with chili, onions and cheese. Finished it in a couple of minutes. Drinks were sweet tea $2.89 ice tea $2.89 You know the old trick. Glasses were filled with ice and you got half a glass full of the actual product. I'd say the biggest gyp was the funnel fries. Maybe 8 sticks the size of french fries for $4.89. Portion are small here. Food was good but a man will leave hungry unless he spends a lot.
