    No vegan protein!

Their vegan options are pathetic! Please add veggie dogs or vegan burgers. There are so many awesome options available these days and I expect a place like this to be more conscious about what animal agriculture is doing to our planet and yes that includes the mountains! My daughter did like the grilled veggie stick so that was good but we really were wishing for veggie dogs!!!

Alright - I'm a fan of mountain top grills, but this place is just great. I spoke briefly of the 'Taphouse in my review of Snow Summit, but I think I need to add a review here too. I've eaten here in the summer so I don't know what it's like during the ski season - my review is bike park season based. You can choose to order from the outdoor grill or the indoor deli area - both have lots of tasty choices. I'm partial to the outdoor grill and their fantastic pulled pork sandwich. Check out the menu before you go - let the internet assist you - but don't be surprised when you get to the top and the food is right there; maybe you'll change your mind and order more than you expected to. The prices are WAY reasonable for the location so you won't regret the purchase. There's lots of seating - no hunting for a table - and practically no waiting. The staff are super friendly - they'll take time to explain your options and the ingredients and all - just ask away - they seem genuinely happy about it quite honestly. Then take your food to your table and enjoy. Indoors or outdoors. Mountain bikers, hikers, families, buddies all around doing the same thing in the clean air. Views of the north or the south side of the mountain are incredible so just drink it in.

Amazing views, pleasant atmosphere, good BBQ and beer!

In response to the owner's reply…read more.. Service isn't just serving food and tasting your food. It's a combination of your logistics and workflow of your organization. Perhaps unorganized in the kitchen or slow in production. This isn't merely just waiting but the fact that your own staff told us different wait times. We did wait. We waited according to your instructions and schedule. We were told many different wait times every time we followed up and asked. The time kept getting longer and longer when there were no other parties waiting but us. First we were told 30mins, then literally minutes later it changed. Then an additional 20mins added. Then, 30. Then we waited, and it changed again. They kept telling us it would be longer and longer. Why would the time go backwards? A small gilled cheese sandwich for an hour? One order. You can ask any business owner or any place outside of your small town that it is a ridiculous wait time for a customer to wait for that long for one small sandwich. Instead of arguing back with your customers, a decent thing to do would have been to apologize and just have accommodated the sandwich just for having us almost an hour of waiting without even getting in. A true business owner wouldn't have responded in how you did. Not only horrible service, but bad ownership practices so I see where it reflects poorly.

This restaurant was supposed to open at 5:00 PM, and we were first in line, so we were seated right away. The customer service was amazing and extremely well organized, with no delays at all. Even with reservations coming in, everything ran smoothly. The entire restaurant filled up within 15 minutes, which was impressive to see. The restaurant itself is very beautiful with amazing outside seating. We decided to order only appetizers. We had chicken wings, artichoke dip, crab cakes, and calamari. The food itself was nothing out of the ordinary and overall average, but the efficiency and customer service truly stood out. Getting a table so easily on a busy holiday evening was entirely due to how well the restaurant was managed. Kudos to the entire team, including Jaela (I believe that was her name)--a young team member who went above and beyond, helping lift chairs and accommodate the rush alongside the rest of the staff. She truly stood out, and one star just for her.

We eventually gave up and left. If you can't handle reservations on a holiday, don't take them. Complete waste of a special evening. Save yourself the frustration and go literally anywhere else in Big Bear.

Yesterday, I took my two youngest kids fishing at Big Bear Lake. I wanted to introduce them to…read morewhere I spent so many childhood summers and winters, fishing and skiing, respectively. This being July, needless to say, we went fishing. After a few hours of fishing, complete with a few bass, we head into town to see what we could do about grabbing a meal. After some driving around, I realized that many of the places I'd visit as a kid were closed and/or gone, so I turned to Yelp, eventually deciding on The Barnstorm Restaurant. This little gem is located within Big Bear's small airport, which I am embarrassed to admit I didn't figure out until we pulled into the parking lot. The name should have been a dead giveaway. I blame the sun and the hunger. Food: The menu, which others have been kind enough to photograph, has something for everyone. I ordered the Veggie Cheese Omelette, egg whites only, no cheese, with fresh fruit and wheat toast. The fruit comes with a light dusting of nutmeg, an unexpected yet appreciated addition. The omelette was delicious, and the vegetables were both plentiful and properly sautéed. My daughter ordered the Chili Cheese Barn Burger with a side of sweet potato fries. It was huge, and the patty appeared to be made in-house. She loved it! My son ordered the Mexican Omelette with a side of cottage cheese, another hit! We all enjoyed our meals and would order them again. Service: Service was swift and professional. The man who seated us also took our orders. He was the only staff member I saw during our visit, but we never felt like the place was understaffed. Our server--who could very well have been the proprietor--was attentive without being overbearing, and he brought out the food quickly and kept our drinks filled. I have no complaints. Ambiance: This is an airport restaurant; rather, it is the airport's sole eatery. Our seats were in small room with perhaps six tables and only a window between us and the runway. Nobody flew in while we were sitting there, but I bet it's a cool place to take young kids if one happens to know a plane or helicopter will be arriving or departing. As one would expect, the restaurant was themed around flight, with flight charts and other airplane-related items making up the décor. It is a tranquil place to enjoy a quality meal without any fanfare or fuss. I recommend The Barnstorm Restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal without a ridiculous wait. Bon appétit!

(Unless it came out a can or something), no flavor, no lemon/butter hints, just gloop. I'm always weary of entering an establishment for the first time to hear the owner almost immediately complain to customers about their financial woes. We are strangers, and first time customers. really weird. I won't return.
