Have come here multiple times during covid since they finished their remodel (I think?), my husband and I love coming here after church since it's walking distance! Our typical go-to's include pad kee mao, green curry with side of sticky rice, the thai tea or thai iced coffee, and my husband has tried the fried chicken over specialty rice. Typically our bill of 2 dishes plus a shared drink is ~$40 total. Other things we've tried and loved include Money bags, the chicken pad thai. Pros: - SUPER GOOD Thai food, I LOVE their green curry (perfect amount of spice and not TOO spicy) - Really good quantity! We are always full when we leave - the dishes will look deceivingly small when they come out because of the plating aesthetic, but the dishes are deep and it's a lot of food! - Really good service - they always keep our waters filled - Covid safe - they don't require proof of vaccination but all the staff are wearing masks. There's a QR code menu if you don't want to touch the physical menus - Never crowded on a Sunday afternoon - Delicious thai tea - Great for parties of 1-6 in terms of seating Cons: - The only con I can think of is that I wish the curry price came with rice included (like Siamese Street in Stockton). New Thai/Lao restaurant located along MacArthur Blvd and Estudillo in San Leandro (off I-580). Visited for a late lunch and staff very welcoming and attentive. For this visit ordered the following items: * MONEY BAGS - hmmm, more of a mixed bag for me...minced chicken, onion, corn wrapped in an eggroll wrapper with a sweet fish sauce for dipping. I thought this was bland with not much Thai flavors or spice that I was expecting. - 3 stars but a .5 star for being fried! *. ANGEL WINGS - stuffed, deboned chicken wing with minced chicken, glass noodle, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, coated with panko and fried - hmmm, again not much spice or Thai/Lao flavors present...and not a fan of panko on my stuffed chicken wings... 3.5 stars * TOM KHA SOUP - perfect balance of flavors and the most flavorful of the dishes...all the components of coconut milk, galangal, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, mushrooms and chicken were present and delicious! Overall, the items ordered were "A-OK" with soup being the star. Sad. I guess I have my fave Thai/Lao spot in Oakland and use that as my gauge for flavorful food that hits the spot. Will I try again? I love that there are Laos options here so I had to give them a try. I did a pickup order through GrubHub (damn my fat finger for accidentally pressing take out!) the food was ready pretty fast. Food: Roti + Panang Curry - It seems like they used a panini pressure to warm up the roti. It was dense and hard. Stuffed Angel Wings - the breading had a crunch and was not too thick. The stuffing was good but lack powerful flavors Fried rice topped with fried chicken - the rice was good but on the dry side. The chicken was delicious and paired well with their house sauce. Beef and Tripe Laab - I appreciate this meat option, don't see many tripe options everywhere. It was good but the portion was on the smaller side. Service was good as well as the food. A couple of cons, parking is super limited here. It's sort of in a small residential area next to a Starbucks. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious with a good amount of seats. Papaya salad (Lao style) was good and spicy! Ate it with some sticky rice. Khao piak sen was good but a bit overly salty. it is a bit on the thicker side, the soup, but thats how I like mine, some people might prefer a thinner broth. Pad thai was also good and sweet. Noodles were cooked slightly al dente but once it starts to settle in with the sauce, it does surprisingly get softer even though its off the heat. Overall, I'd probably come back but maybe not during a busy time since parking is pretty limited. read more

This is our first time here tonight. We were greeted and promptly seated. We ordered the combo appetizer plate, the fried chicken fried rice, and the shrimp pad Thai. We loved the sausage and the money bags appetizers. The sausage was fragrant with lemongrass. The money bags were filled with ground chicken and corn, very flavorful. The fried chicken with the fried rice was excellent too! And of course how can you go wrong with shrimp pad Thai. For dessert, we had the roti with ice cream, and the fried banana with ice cream. We devoured those too!! So good! The ladies provided excellent service: water glasses were refilled, dirty plates were promptly removed. We were lucky and got a parking spot on the block. This review is based on Grand opening day: My party and I arrived around 6pm for dinner service. The restaurant was half packed at that time, and got packed by 7pm. They had a lot of waiters and waitress on hand that night with dinner service. The servers were attentive and made sure that we were ok from time to time: with refills of water and check-ins The negative part of the service was the duration of ordering our food to receiving it. The food preparation was really slow. Everything came out an hour later from ordering. I know it's the first day, but that's why soft openings are suppose to help get an idea of the flow of service (day or night). They were apologetic with the slow service, and offered a free appetizer on the house. But what really confused me was when they served us one of the noodle soups we ordered.. it didn't have enough soup broth to cover the noodles. Come on! Plus two of the noodles soup had way too much vegetables in it. The one dish I really enjoyed was the Lao papaya salad. It was spicy and had the right kick to it. The rest of the food dishes we ordered were really salty. I had to take the left overs home and the next day it was as salty as the night before. I do want to come back and try another meal here when they get all the kinks worked out. read more

I've been looking for Lao food and this spot is so close to my area. The moneybags are cute and quite tasty with a nice filling and crunchy exterior. The Tom Yum soup, Papaya Salad, and Fried Fish Fillets were all done well. We'll definitely be back often! read more

Ambiance was great. Nice and chill place. Nice decorations and nice mixture of music playing. Service was top notch - like I was at a high end restaurant! I didn't have to keep asking for anything. Brought us napkins without asking and kept refilling our drinks. We came at 5pm, not so busy but they slowly picked up and there were plenty of to go orders but the service was amazing. Food for Lao-Thai was great. I've been searching for a great Thai restaurant but most Thai restaurants are more Thai-Vietnamese or Thai-Chinese style. This place I would come back to for sure. The spice level for hot is actually hot so I appreciated the correct level of spice. The Lao papaya salad could've been a little more salty and sour but overall better then what I've tried in the bay (south, east bay). Amazing staff especially the male staff who was so attentive to all customers. I would definitely recommend the fried rice as well as the fish dishes. We went here with a few friends for the first time. We each ordered a dish to share family-style, starting with theSLK Sampler & fresh shrimp Spring Rolls. I prefer the fresh Spring rolls bc they were light and the sauce was tangy and delicious. The papaya salad was over spicy for most of our group. Next was the Tom Kha soup. I loved this fresh tangy coconut flavor. Another favorite of mine was the Basil Eggplant with tofu. We also tried the Pad Thai, Pad Se Ew with beef and the Yellow Curry. Overall very good Thai food. Service was good and friendly. The only the drawback for some of our group was not having any alcohol. Teas and coffees, hot and cold are available. I've been here twice and I will be back. The ladies are so friendly and the food is delicious. I ordered the yellow curry and I swear I could order a pitcher of that curry sauce and drink it all. No joke! I am eating less meat these days and I was able to substitute tofu. The dish is enough for me. They don't skimp on the veggies or tofu. Oh, BYW, you also get steamed rice. Everything for the meal that I had there, I had to ask for. I had to ask for water, utensils, and rice that came with the food. True to form, the preparation AND presentation were all of a superlative caliber. I typically seek accommodations for my menu items of choice and they didn't disappoint. Service staff Nana and Rachel were very customer service oriented, and dispensed information/clarification clearly. A menu item which is clearly their trademark is 'Moneybags" = "minced chicken, onion, and corn in egg roll wrap served with sweet & tangy sauce". Thai restaurant near Chabot Park, stopped by because I had as craving Thai food and it was as the closest one with high reviews near where I was. I was in the mood for pad see ew and luckily it was in the menu. It had a richer sauce than normal places which I liked and the chicken I got with it tasted well cooked. There was also a lot of broccoli and carrots that came it that balanced it out well. The fried fish was very good and comes with the garlic based sweet sauce in the side which is great for keeping the fish crispy. Got this to share and it was good. Should have ordered another one. I got tom yum soup with chicken, pad thai with shrimp, & a thai iced tea. Parking was relatively easy, but I think I may have also gotten lucky & just had good timing. Food was ready promptly when it was said to be. I was helped quickly & was on my way home. The pad thai was okay. It did not have much seasoning or spice & i was disappointed that the peanuts were served whole on the side - just like 2 shelled peanuts in a little container. The tom yum soup was done - also lacking flavor & spice & had HUGE chucks of tomoatoe- like it had just been quartered & thrown in the soup. Service was attentive because there was only one other table when we stopped by for lunch on a Saturday, but that made it uncomfortably quiet. - Drunken noodles (pad ke mao): This was just ok. There were lots of vegetables but the noodles lacked flavor. - Basil eggplant: I always get this at Thai restaurants but this was the most flavorless eggplant dish I've ever tasted. The sauce was ok but the eggplant itself was kind of hard and had no flavor. - Mango sticky rice: The best dish we got. Was super excited to check out SL Kitchen after walking past it in the Estudillo Estates area. I got the drunken noodles with pork and the Panang curry and these are my thoughts: - Drunken noodles with pork: I ordered the spicy level and it had no spice, even confirmed by my boyfriend. The pork was also pretty overcooked and dry and overall the dish lacked flavor -- it was pretty bland and disappointing - Panang curry: The panang curry was very watery and while it was better than the drunken noodles, was still lackluster. I wish it was thicker so that it'd be easier to eat with the rice -- otherwise it's basically a soup, at best I really think that this place has the potential to be a great local spot, there just needs to be better quality control read more

The food and menu options are unlimited where its hard to choose what you want since everything is so delicious! Loved how they had thai milk which was really good. I will preface my review by saying at the time of visiting SL Kitchen, I would have given a 5 star, but me and my friend ended up getting food poisoning, so I have to bump a star down for that. Anyways onto the review! Me and a friend decided to visit here on a Sunday afternoon and we were quickly greeted and seated. We decided to order a bunch of appetizers just to try a little bit of everything along with a noodle soup and dessert. Food: - Stuffed Angel Wings: very cool appetizer! A chicken wing stuffed with ground meat and veggies. The stuffing wasn't too heavy and was perfect for the deep friend meaty exterior. - SLK sampler: this sampler came with a papaya salad, the money bags appetizers, egg rolls and Laos sausage. Out of all the items I probably enjoyed the money bags the most. - Nam Khao: not bad, but probably my least favorite dish. It was very crispy but became a little tiring just eating all of the fried rice balls. I personally would have liked soft to help cut (uncut?) the texture. - Kapoun: this noodle soup was very delicious. Creamy from the coconut, but not overwhelmingly creamy to where I can't eat too much. - Roti with Ice Cream: The roti was very flaky, almost like a croissant that was flattened. This paired perfectly with the ice cream. Service: Excellent, 5/5 no complaints. Everyone was super friendly, our waters were always topped off, the food came out quickly and the staff helped pack all of the food in to-go boxes. From a service standpoint: one of the best experiences I've had! Overall, I would like to come back and try some of their other dishes. I'm stuffed as I type this but I can't stop thinking of all the delicious food I just had! I LOVE Thai food and had to try this place recommended by a good friend. There's plenty of free parking in the front, the restaurant feels new, is super clean, and there's plenty of space in between each table! Nice decor that's date and family-friendly. For appetizers we had the sampler and stuffed angel wings. We were hit with bursts of flavor and the perfect balance of spice. The money bags, sausage, and Laos papaya stood out to us the most. I should've ordered a side of the sausage to munch on at home, it's THAT good. My kids devoured the money bags as they were yummy and fun to eat. Our meals were on another level and definitely hit the spot! The beef salad (Namtok) was tender and chocked full of flavor. My kids shared the pad see ew and crispy chicken over fried rice. They loved it and the vegetables were flavorful and easy for them to eat. The servings were generous so we have leftovers for dinner tonight. Onto my husband's order. The spicy curry noodles (Kapoun)! The broth was developed with layers of flavor and perfectly spiced to his high level of spiciness without numbing his taste. So pleased to have found a Thai restaurant in San Leandro that is so good! Ordered a large take out order to share with some friends and was very impressed. As a yearly traveler to Thailand, I know a lot about Thai food. This food was fresh, well prepared and everything was delicious. I ordered food that my friends wanted: Pad Thai with succulent shrimp, Pad se ew with tofu, Chicken satay with peanut sauce, Papaya salad and Mango with sticky rice. All of us thought the sticky rice was the best we had ever eaten. The portions were all large. There were countless large shrimp in the pad thai and the peanut sauce was amazing. I originally was going to give SL Kitchen a 4 based on a large take out order. But today we went to eat in and the experience bumped up my experience to a 5. Food: They have a lot of different options but I really like their curries, they are thick, perfectly seasoned, and all the food is chopped up nicely. The pad thai is one of the best I've had, really well sauced with big chunks of peanuts (plus your protein of choice). Today we ordered the money bags and they were extraordinary, nice chunks of minced chicken, corn, all in cute little "bag" shapes. Service is prompt and friendly. The staff is always looking around to see to be responsive to clients' requests. And inside is super clean and has a lovely classy decoration that is well suited for a date-night (we saw many ppl there on dates) but nice for families and friends. They don't have a kids menu, but the kids' water comes with a little pineapple decoration that just makes it fun and sweet. I guess the desserts are definitely kid-friendly. We had the roti and ice-cream and it was delightful. Parking can be a mixed bag, but if you can't find parking on MacArthur, there's street parking around the corner. read more
