Stopped here while on a road trip to Niagara Falls and I'm so happy I did! By far some of the best BBQ I've ever had. We got a sampler, which is all their meats, and a few sides. The standouts were the garlic bread, fries, and the chicken breast. If you get one thing here it needs to be the chicken. It's so juicy and tender, bursting with flavor. The BBQ sauce they use, I'm assuming it's made in-house is so smoky it takes you straight to a summer BBQ at a campfire. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Here for lunch before we visited the Corning glass museum. There is only one lady serving so we have to awkwardly stand there waiting for her to finishing filling the drinks for other guests. It would be better if she asked us to grab a seat first... We decided to order by pound so we don't have to struggle with ordering too many sides. The food is pretty good though, we love it and finish everything. The brisket is tender and every piece has a nice soft tendon linked to it, the sauce is not overpowering and is just right. The pulled pork tastes ok, but I would say it looks more like chopped pork than pulled pork... The chicken is very tender in the inside and crispy on the outside, I think it is one of the best bbq chicken we had. For the sides, we got French fries and veggie of the day. Both of them are very good. The grilled veggie is much better than I thought I could have at a bbq, you know, meat place. Price is very reasonable. We paid only about 10 dollar per person. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The first thing you notice is the fantastic smell from the kitchen, which is right up front. The waitress was friendly and helpful. Since we had never been there before, we asked her what she recommended. She suggested their 1/4 lb sampler. She assured us it wasn't too much for two people. On that count, she wasn't entirely right. It is a lot of food. 1/4 lb of pulled pork, 1/4 lb of brisket, 1/4 smoked chicken, 4 ribs, and smoked sausage, along with sides and cornbread. It was a great way to try a bit of everything, but it was really too much for two people. The pulled pork and brisket both come chopped. The flavor was good but they were both just a little dry. Their house sauces on the table helped with that. I think we'd probably prefer the brisket sliced, which is an option if you order ala cart. The chicken was a thigh and drumstick, both had nice flavor. The smoked sausage was delicious. Our favorite was the ribs. They were fall off the bone tender, and were delicious. Our sides were fries and cole slaw. They were both fine. There are only a few tables on the first floor, so unless you get there when it's not busy, you'll have to climb some stairs. The atmosphere is typical BBQ joint decor with lots of old signs and music type stuff on the walls. Everything was clean. Bottom line, it's a decent place for BBQ. We'd go again. read more

Our group of six seniors went for lunch at their Market St location. I think we were the only customers in the nearly two hours we were there. Very cold inside. Staff was personable although Iwish our wait person would ditch the "honey", "sweetheart", etc. I personally find it condescending. My choice was a burger well done. It was so well done that it was dry, especially the outside. One in our party had ribs that were burnt on the outside. Another said his were extremely fatty. I'm usually pretty skeptical about take out because most foods get soggy and I hate soggy food. We wanted to support our local businesses especially at this time so we decided on Slammin Jammin delivery. We were completely shocked and very impressed with our meal. Our fries were not soggy whatsoever and were so fresh. Also got a pulled pork and a brisket sandwich. The buns were perfect!!! Quaint little bbq joint decked out in an authentic country theme.. Relaxed atmosphere with country music playing and sports games on the tv..wait staff is fast and friendly. Onion rings were delicious with various bbq and hot sauces for condiment lovers (sweet was my dip of choice) .. Also ordered the chicken sandwich with a side of corn on the cob. Both amazing .. Went in tonight for a to-go order. After waiting for my food, eventually someone came over and told me they didnt have enough meat to fill my order and asked if I wanted something else...(pork/chicken). I agreed and then when they brought the food over, they took the time to let me know they were doing me a favor because the food they gave me was actually worth more than what I paid. That was pretty tacky, since it wasnt even what I had asked for to begin with. Finally, upon returning home, discovered that they had dumped BBQ sauce all over the brisket....I had asked for them not to put ANY on it. When I called them the woman said oh sorry, let me get your name and we will give you a little discount next time. I said, a "little discount" on food that was not correct nor what I really wanted? I have to say that the Yelp reviewers were right on target with their great reviews of this place. The BBQ is to die for. I had the ribs which they told me they were known for. They were tender, smoky, and had tons of meat on the bone and they give you a lot. The other people in my party had brisket and pulled pork sandwiches which they said were incredible. Now for the Cons- the macaroni salad was extremely dry and needed more mayo and spices. The beans and potato side was bland and the beans very mushy but that's what you get when you use green beans in a can and cook them a long time. Trying to read the menu was very hard. It is allover the place and not well organized. I also have to disagree that the owner and staff was friendly. We were looking all over the place trying to find the menu and she asked if we had been there before. We said no and she just said we are known for our ribs. Ok anything else like welcome? Slammin' Jammin' is a friendly and tasty place with a western theme that we found for a late lunch with our grandchildren today, ages 2 and 4. Grandma had the pulled pork sandwich with a kickin' pina colada and I had a bacon cheddar cheese burger with all the fixin's. The kids had chicken fingers and the grilled cheese with pink lemonade. Couldn't have asked for better service and a more delightful lunch all around. We give it four stars for friendly service and three and a half for tasty food. While we've had better or more authentic barbecue, we're rounding up to four for fun. read more

This was some great barbecue, Texas style. I was driving from Niagara Falls back to New Jersey, and my son and I stopped in Corning for dinner. I knew that Slammin Jammin was a perfect choice as we pulled into the parking lot and saw the smoker. We had the basics...ribs, corn, Texas toast, green beans and cornbread...all very good. Try their spicy barbecue sauce, as it gave the ribs that extra something. It's a small place, but they are very friendly and try hard to please. They've got my vote. read more

We decided to give this place a try for my birthday and were disappointed. The service was bad; they pretty much ignored us the entire time. They gave me the wrong drink, and I had to wait until the food came out to get it fixed. The check arrived shortly after the food, and they seemed in a hurry to get us out the door. The food itself wasn't particularly appealing. My fish was dried out and burned in places, and the fries were cold. The Texas toast was just standard soggy toast drenched with butter. This was an amazing hole in the wall bbq spof! I had the rib/chicken combo and both meats were so moist they could just fall off the bone. They serve the dishes with sweet bbq but have bottles of both sweet and spicy at the table so you can add as much as you want. This is a perfect place for gluten free eaters who are passing by or just craving bbq. Everything except their fried items, bread and macaroni salad are ok to eat. I have never had Texas BBQ this good and this far North!!! If you want to have real Texas BBQ without the trip, this is the place. We just stopped in based on other reviews and a recommendation from the hotel clerk. We had some brisket, pulled pork and ribs. All were really good. A surprising gem!!! I was in Corning for the weekend and saw the reviews on yelp. The restaurant was right near our hotel so we decided to try it for lunch. We walked in and the smell was amazing! The prices were very reasonable. We had the pulled pork, ribs, baked beans, coleslaw and fries. Everything was delicious which was completely unexpected in Corning!! Fantastic!! My hubby & I both love bbq and get it whenever we are visiting a new town if we can. This place was amazing!! I had the brisket dinner and my hubby had the pork dinner. Both were very moist and tender and the smoke flavor was amazing! I had the baked beans which we soooo good just sweet enough without overdoing it! My husband had the corn muffin which was also delicious and the coleslaw. All in all it was a great bbq joint definitely worth a visit! read more

On the walk to the bathroom you are treated to a tour through the middle of the kitchen. Where upon which you get blasted with a rigged up portable air conditioner or blower in a wooden box aimed towards food prep table which had some racks of ribs resting, seemed a bit shall we say unsanitary? Bathroom was clean:) Wife ordered brisket salad, brisket was somewhat dry and tasteless. I only had 2 bites so I guess my thoughts could be taken with a grain of salt, although some bbq sauce to moisten it up would be better. I got a rack of ribs for me and the kiddos. Sides were fries and baked beans. Both sides were average, not bad, not great! The ribs on the other hand had potential but they completely destroyed them. I believe the problem started with us stoping by at lunch. Ribs may have been from previous day. A sign about 7' up by the cash register clearly states all meat comes with bbq sauce applied unless requested none wanted. HELLO RED FLAG! Let us taste the finished product and decide if we want to add the sauce or not. I believe this is an easy way to hide mediocrity! The real faux pas here was during the reheating of the ribs the bbq sauce was completely charred on the underside and slightly on the top and then fresh bbq sauce applied again. Heck backyard BBQ 101.... BBQ sauce burns, apply accordingly. My 4 & 7 yr old wanted nothing to do with them. I scraped off what I could and chewed on. Not much pink from smoke, bit dry and charred undercarriage. We were on hour 7 of a 10 hour drive day. We went out of our way to this place:( 1 of 2 servers was very friendly and upbeat. When Slammin Jammin first opened at their old location it was one of my favorites. I was visiting this weekend so I told my mom I really wanted some BBQ. We decided to get take out last night and ordered the sampler. It was pretty disappointing. The brisket was crumbs, the pulled pork was fatty, the ribs tiny, and we spent $53 for the sampler but the portions of meat were tiny. All the meat had a very fake and overpowering smoke flavor. The coleslaw was odd, very roughly chopped, really no flavor. The only things I liked were the cornbread and baked beans, and the baked beans tasted like canned ones. Not only was the food disappointing, but we all had horrible indigestion afterward and today we are having lower stomach pains. Overall, it wasn't a positive experience and we won't be returning. I'm pretty sad about the whole thing because this used to be my favorite! read more

Ordered the Family One Pound of meat, 1/2 pound of Pulled Pork, 1/4 pound of brisket and 1/4 pound of dark meat chicken. The food was fine but was not hot (temperature-wise). Of the three meat selections, I'd say the chicken was the best followed by the pulled pork and then the brisket. The fries were in the fryer a little longer than they should have been. Nice folks, but the food is simply not good. Granted, I am from Georgia and I just spent two weeks in Austin, but you would think Yankees could at least make a half decent slab of ribs. The brisket was very dry and had BBQ sauce dribbled on it. I just had two weeks of melt in your mouth brisket that was too good to use sauce on. To be honest, I make way better pulled pork than this at home. I had one bite of the slaw and didn't touch it again. The baked beans were good enough, and they did have sweet tea. Corning has lucked into a legit Texas BBQ restaurant. It's one of those no-nonsense walk up to the counter, order your meat by the pound, pick a few sides, and chow down places. We ordered a full rack of ribs and brisket. Ribs were smoky, fall-off-the-bone, and tasty. Brisket was the real star-- we got the fatty stuff, and it was juicy melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness.
