As in 99% made in milk/water and 1% of matcha. Bruh, where is the bitter? Where is that green/grassy/deep color matcha. They're very quick though, if you want something done and ready to go and don't care about the taste, come here!!! I also got chicken sandwiches with some vinegar over salad, I like the food but if you're Asian or have taste some high quality matcha from Japan, RUN. Perfect place for a quick brunch, the drinks were made well and the food was great. We also got the pesto flatbread which was out of this world, but you have to love pesto to like it (it had a ton on it)! The mushroom scramble was good and cooked perfectly. The only thing that wasn't good was the bagel, but considering there's so many shops that specialize in bagels in NY I wasn't expecting much here. Try the chai latte, surprisingly good! I had to do some work in the morning, so this cafe was the closest one to my hotel. Before settling down, I ordered just an iced latte with oat milk and sugar-free vanilla syrup. It came out really fast! The staff was friendly and they even brought my coffee out to where I was sitting. The cafe tends to get really busy, so it might be hard to get a seat. However, the wifi was public and really reliable and otherwise the cafe was comfortable to hang out in. They also have a food menu as well, which I definitely want to try next! read more

I stopped by here for a quick breakfast gathering with my coworkers. There were several seats both inside and outside. You order at the cashier and then they give you a number which you'd place at the table of where you choose to sit and they'll bring the food out to you. Although I came on a Friday morning, it was actually quite busy. All the seats inside were taken but we didn't have to wait long before a table opened up. It's a great casual spot to chat and enjoy company with or to do work at by yourself as well (I saw many people getting work done at tables by themselves). However, it was quite noisy inside with all the chatter. There's a great variety of coffee options as well as breakfast and lunch foods (lots of sandwiches). I opted for a simple toasted everything bagel with cream cheese but my coworkers got the salmon bagel and the breakfast pizza, as well as some lattes. I was in Manhattan meeting some friends to do a little shopping when we decided to stop here for lunch. One of my friends suggested Blank Slate, and it looked like a perfect spot to grab some quick food. Needless to say, I was looking forward to getting warm (it was snowing outside), and trying a new place out. Blank Slate has a welcoming aesthetic; the decor is very typical of eateries that have a "+" in their name: urban contemporary design, exposed brick, wood, and both communal and individual seating. I noticed that they had several of those igloos outside for dining, but it was snowing so they weren't being used. Once inside, you're welcomed by the seating area with the ordering counter towards the back. Menus are easily accessible, so while we were waiting in line to order we decided to browse. The flow of Blank Slate works like other fast-service eateries I've been to - order at the counter, they give you a number, and your food is served to you shortly after. Blank Slate's menu has a good variety without being overwhelming. In addition to salads and sandwiches, they also have a number of breakfast selections, apps, and small and large plates. A sandwich felt correct - specifically their roast turkey. In addition to the aforementioned turkey, the sandwich contained provolone, apples, arugula, and dijonnaise (wow a throwback) on whole-grain ciabatta. The sandwich was really good - nothing destination worthy, but really tasty. The greens the sandwich was paired with complemented it well and kept the entire dish light. I also ordered a hot lemon ginger tea which was perfect for such a snowy day. Service was great - everyone was super friendly and our food was out in no time. Overall, I thought Blank Slate was a great spot. This isn't a destination spot by any means, but perfect if you're in the area looking for a quick meal in a relaxed atmosphere. read more

Decided to check this place out as I was looking for a light breakfast. I knew we were going to have a heavy, early dinner so I didn't want to overeat. The cafe had some seating outdoors, including some tables separated by glass encasings on the side of the building. It's a bright space when you enter with tables on the sides of the space and a long communal table In the center. You order at the counter and seat yourself. They give you a number and they bring the food to your table. It was around 11:30 and we got the last table. Some customers were eating and working on their laptops there. I picked up a pre-packaged funfetti cookie (they were unfortunately out of chocolate chip cookies) at the counter. I ordered the mushroom scramble, a side of the chicken sausage and a cappuccino. The cappuccino came out first and it had a good flavor. Didn't have to wait too long for my mushroom scramble and side of chicken sausage. I love eggs so I was happy to see that the scramble was a decent portion. The eggs were soft and the a good amount of feta mixed in gave it a creamy flavor. It was well seasoned and tasted like it had some thyme in there as well. It came with two thin slices of toast, which I thought had crusts that were a bit too hard. They weren't anything exciting and I found myself wishing for some bread and butter, which I then requested. They gave a good amount of each in small sauce containers. I think it would be a good addition if the dish came with these. The order of chicken sausage was two pieces slices in half. It tasted as any chicken sausage should taste. But I was happy they had the healthier sausage/meat option. Service was good; the ladies at the register were nice and friendly. Dishes seem like good portions. The customer next to me was eating a salad with chicken that looked like something I'd enjoy eating as well. I'd def consider returning to try some of their other dishes. And the menu has enough variety that I think other members of my family would be able to find something they'd enjoy. read more

I hate to do this, but I want to share my experience. The person that was working behind the counter was rude. I've been here many times in the past with friends especially on the weekend. Yes it's crowded but it's fine. It's cute and coffee is good and the food is okay. Not really any complaints, until now. I placed an order for pick up I ordered three things and one coffee. I went to the side of the counter and told the guy that I was here for a pick up he gave it to me, but then I realized the coffee was missing and they were making it then, that's fine not a problem that they make the coffee at that time, but then the guy rudely tells me from across the room how Im supposed to wait in line to pick up my order and that the coffee is made then I said OK that's fine so I know next time. My issue is first if you want to say that to me he could've just told me that when I was in front of him instead of yelling that at me across the room while I was waiting for the coffee. I don't know if he was trying to embarrass me or make a point cause the way he said it in a sarcastic rude tone, which I thought was inappropriate. Second, what is the point of ordering ahead then if I have to wait on a long line either way. Ive never been told this before or anywhere else when ordering pickup. I was just picking up a bag that was hanging on the wall. It took all of less than three seconds for him to hand it to me. I would recommend this place to people all the time and went there quite frequently myself because it was close by, but not anymore I'll have to find somewhere else. Again, the issue I had was not that that's their policy, (but I do think it's not time efficient for people who want to just pick up their order when placing it ahead of time) and again I didn't know that was the policy, but it's the way that I was told this and the unprofessional encounter I had with the person working behind the counter. read more

Blank Slate Coffee & Kitchen is great! It's very busy. I'm very partial to the seating outside because you have your own little space with a heater if it's cold! The employees are all working fiercely to keep up with the orders. The place is clean and organized. The menu is extensive with reasonable prices. I was disappointed that sandwiches are not served until after 11am. I'm mostly a breakfast person that will eat breakfast at any time. I hate when there's a cut off for the menu. I prefer to order what I feel like eating when I want to eat it! I'm definitely coming back and I highly recommend. It's a well thought out dining atmosphere and menu. Safety comes first also. Had breakfast this week here. I'm a huge avocado toast fan, I eat it just about everywhere. I read on yelp that it was good here so we went to try it out. I would say that it was just OK. They put honey on it, which is a sweet twist, pun intended. :) The avocado was good, but the toast wasn't good enough. I've had better. Pave has better for sure. I got a toasted sesame bagel with butter and a cafe au lait with oat milk, both of which came out quickly and tasted good. The service was super friendly too! Came here for morning brunch with my friend. We sat outside in one of those little clear houses. Super cute and a good way to distance ourselves from people walking on the streets. They also have indoor seating, but there isn't too much open space if you go on a weekend morning. The iced mocha was delicious. I've tried iced mochas all around the city, and this one has to be one of my favorites. The avocado burrata was good as well. The cheese was very creamy and delicious. This is another review that's 5 stars for managed expectations. This is not THE BEST brunch I've ever had in NYC. So leave that expectation at the door. However, this is A DAMN GOOD brunch option, esp with a beautiful location and a great number of options for food allergies & sensitivities. The staff is patient and helpful, the menu choices are plentiful, and the interior design is peaceful & pretty. My friend and I had such a lovely time there that we stayed and chatted for an extra hour. No one tried to rush us out. We were there from 9-11 am on a bustling Saturday and never felt overwhelmed by a rush of people trying to brunch. I think this place might be a little gem where people don't quite realize this is more than a coffee shop and there is a really decent brunch set up. If you come, please be sure to leave a tip for the staff. They bring the food to you. They clear your plates. They walk around and take dirty dishes as you finish. You order at the counter but otherwise benefit from a well-trained wait staff. The entrance and interior space seem spacious enough for wheelchairs, walking canes, or baby strollers! The hot chocolate was fine and it gets made order up by the person by the same person ringing you you. Not sure how efficient that is. The sandwich however was so delicious. He delivered a sandwich and I had to tell him that I ordered the breakfast bowl. They were clearly very busy. I'm so glad this place was so close to where I was staying because I was here every morning. This is one of the better matcha lattes i've tried in the city and it was definitely a staple in our morning routine. Made by the right person, it'll be super smooth but sometimes it came out chunky and grainy which didn't bother me too much since I'm used to making matcha at home before. If you've every tried "real" Vietnamese coffee, this one will disappoint...didn't taste bad but tasted overly like condensed milk. Their iced Americano is decent and the espresso flavor is strong and smooth. Super clean indoor seating and cool outdoor seating!!
