It was awesome in here! They have the best coffee, Counter Culture! I thought it was packed, but still had some seats around 2 pm. I also saw people working, chatting with friends, and relaxing with a meal. I liked that they have vegan options. My friend is a vegetarian/pescatarian, and I am always hunting for and researching places with various options besides a salad or pasta. I had the quinoa bowl and it was pretty good. I loved the roasted sweet potatoes inside (or were they yams?)...I just like roasted veggies in general to be clear. I loved the way it looked. Such a solid breakfast and lunch spot in Midtown East. I have never had a bad dish here! The Vietnamese iced coffee is a unique offering they have (considering it's not an Asian spot), which is a regular iced latte with condensed milk instead of other kinds. The condensed milk is naturally sweet, so you don't need any extra sugar or flavoring. I got the breakfast bowl with egg, quinoa, mushrooms, and avocado, and it was delicious. The other dishes my party got were the waffles and Turkey sandwich. I also got a side of a toasted bagel with cream cheese. Make sure you ask for it double toasted because it was barely warm, let alone toasted. The cream cheese only stuck to one side of the bagels. This is a cafeteria-style restaurant where you order at the counter, they give you a number for your table, and then they come give you your food. It's very relaxed and casual. If you come on a weekend, you may have to wait a bit for a table because it's a small place and is very popular. One of my go-to spots! read more

I came here to get some work done and also grab a bite. The inside is super cute and aesthetic. I got the Wild Mushroom Toast and Rose Matcha Latte. The toast was definitely larger than I expected and they loaddd it with mushrooms. It was delicious and was a great healthy midday snack. The latte was good as well/not too sweet which I liked. I don't know what paper straws they use but I love that mine didn't get soggy at all which tends to happen after only about 15-20 minutes. Overall, great experience here! read more

I have tried one of their locations before but it was the cafe and this time around decided to try the restaurant. They have green houses for seating! Which I thought were a nice touch. Inside was pretty busy so seating at a greenhouse for lunch was nice because me and my friend could catch up. I ordered the grilled cheese and a mimosa. Let me tell you about the grilled cheese. Sounds like a simple sandwich but omg it was so good. Really flavorful and the bread was toasted which added a nice crunch when you bite into it. It also came wit a side salad that was lightly seasoned. Staff was really nice as well. You do have to order inside and they will bring your order to your table. Great cafe to grab a bite or get some coffee or tea. They have indoor and outdoor seatings. The outdoor seatings are cutely sectioned within a plastic bubbled rooms, so each party of 1-4 ppl are in the separated partitioned transparent rooms. They even have fans inside it and have a door. You order inside and they give you a number to put on your table so the server can bring you your food. The steak sandwich was very good and tasty. So was the bread it came in. It's like a baguette, crunchy outside. The deviled eggs were pretty good also if you want a light appetizer or snack. The matcha tea was nicely made with the leaf symbol on top. Although the matcha powder in the tea was not mixed enough so there were clumps of green matcha at the bottom of the cup. Would've liked it mixed into the tea. Staff were nice and friendly. Blank Slate is such an awesome coffee shop and cafe. Their coffees are delicious but also their menu does som heavy lifting. I always have to get the deviled eggs, they just speak to my soul even in their simplicity. They're delicious and I won't let anyone tell me otherwise. This location is nice and offers a variety of seating options. I came in on a Monday and was able to grab a table and enjoy my tea. I do wish they stayed open a bit later for the late night worker but that's a minimal note. The service is great and I love their quaint, charming interior. For a casual cafe-style restaurant, Blank Slate is great as it is :) it's normally pretty full especially on a nice weekend during breakfast and brunch hours. You put in your order in the front cashier (always had a very kind and pleasant experience with them), and if it's dine-in, they give you a number so that your server can bring over the food when it's ready. So that aspect is pretty convenient without waiting for a server to take your order. The menu is found on the large black board all the way to the right of the cashier where you'll see breakfast bowls and salads, sandwiches, sides, and others. I ordered the rose berry waffles since I was craving a sweet breakfast and it was delicious - the outer has a crisp bite topped with berry fruits and dipped in sweetened condensed milk. I also ordered the chai latte with vanilla syrup since Blank Slate has good coffee and tea drinks :) along with a breakfast grain bowl and side of chicken sausages, the total came out to $42 for two. Not too bad for two people! The tables are normally clean within couple mins of the previous customers, but indoor seating arrangement could use some spacing... I do really enjoy their outdoor personal seating spaces which are nice during warmer weathers. Overall, highly recommend if you're in the area!!! read more

The breakfast Avo and Whites Egg Sandwich super disappointed. The gluten free bread was quality multigrain, but the bread-to-filling ratio really blew-- I think there was only one egg, and the avocado was a guacamole-like spread, but not enough to hold things together, so you can't pick up the sandwich without it falling apart. The dish needs cheese. Same thing when I tried the BEC+LT Egg Sandwich at their NoMad location last year. Just looking around, I'd say the Bacon Scramble, or Mushroom Scramble, is the way to go, because the portions are more generous. Overall upsides: Tasty hot sauce, gluten free options, a good working environment with free, albeit unsecure, wifi (LinkNYC Free Wi-Fi also reaches), comfortable booths, charging ports, clean and lots of light because it's on the corner. In addition to coffee, they carry Iris Nova's Dirty Lemon elixirs (I like the +charcoal flavor), Pure Green, Kombucha and Natalie's juice. We ate inside, however they offer cool outside seating in individual clear 'greenhouses'. I tried the avocado toast, hot chai latte, and hot rose matcha latte (they offer in iced as well). Came across this on a busy Sunday morning and I've been back twice since! We've dined in once, but gotten take-out the rest of the times. The food is pretty quick and affordable, and the cafe has plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoor. My favorite item is their Mushroom Scramble! Served with a side of toast, this is a pretty filling breakfast for only $11! I also enjoy the Bacon Scramble, which is the same price. I used to love this place, but the past 3 times I came here I really hated it and felt disappointed: 1) The matcha iced latte was disgusting. It's important to note that even though the menu says you cannot order lunch / entrees before 11, you definitely can. Keeping in mind that our food was over chilled because of the internal temperature, it was good and very colorful. You can tell they use quality ingredients. The quinoa bowl was not warm like I had initially thought, but cold and salad-like. The caprese salad was so packed with mozzarella. Delicious. The vanilla latte was super flavorful and made really well. The hibiscus iced tea was very potent and packed with flavor too. They have outdoor seating inside these little greenhouse looking structures, probably an idea from when the pandemic was still at its peak. I like them and think it's good that they kept them around. Came here for super late brunch. They seem to serve breakfast food all day + lunch items (like salads and sandwiches). I got the avocado toast. Pretty good, though smaller than expected. We also got the bacon scramble. I enjoyed it but husband thought it had too much onion. The latte was decent too. Lots of seating inside. Noticed a few people working so maybe they have Wi-Fi for customers. Most people were in and out fairly quickly. They have a restroom which is always a plus. Service was ok. It was okay for what it was. The bowl wasn't very full of Brussel sprouts and veggies. Not enough dressing in the cup (about half full). However, there was plenty of Parmesan which was nice.
