Bad experience with original mattress and getting ripped off on Sleep Number support during my move! Be very careful if your making this investment like I did. So my POST purchase dealing with Sleep Number has been incredibly frustrating. In fact I am willing to sell my 1 year old Sleep number 10 mattress, base and the premium head board for a steep discount just to be done with these people. REPLY TO MY POST IF YOU WANT TO MAKE AN OFFER! I AM WILLING TO DEAL TO BE DONE WITH SLEEP NUMBER. My original mattress ended up being a dud. After working with customer service and doing all kinds of weird setting adjustments I agreed to wait till the cut off date if I was to exchange. Being as the original mattress was bad I called and requested the change. Now that was an experience, 3 days before my ability to exchange the mattress the customer service agent kept fighting me on the exchange. She kept telling me it was final....no kidding Karen....I don't want the bad mattress. I had to pay $250 dollars plus the higher cost of the model due to inflation just to get a good mattress. Now currently I am finding out the absolute brutal reality of dealing with Sleep Number if I need to move. No I am moving a whole 10 miles, so its local. Yet they will be charging me $250.00 to come buy and break down the bed. I HAVE TO MOVE IT or have my movers help me and then I HAVE TO PAY THEM another $250 to come out and set the bed up again. The real joy is they will only send a technician out (who comes in their delivery truck by the way) 5 days before my move and they don't come back for another 2 weeks to set it back up. Basically I am couch surfing for 3 weeks. So imagine how happy you will be when its time to move, will cost you an additional $500 and your likely to be couch surfing for weeks at a time. Which is ironic because we get these beds to help with our sleep and back pain. Listen the bed itself is what I expected it to be, I don't use all the settings so I look back and realize I got sucked into the sales pitch and can get by with something simpler. At the very least try to negotiate free relocation of the bed or something of that nature. read more

This is the worst bed company in the industry, I finally figured out how they've gotten so big by through false advertising and leading customers to believe they are getting something their not 1. As to see the heat pad in the heated foot section. They cover it so you don't realize that it's super scratchy and you can't sleep on it 2. They tell you your version is quieter than the ones in the store 3. You get 0 refund if you do friends and family which they have saying it's a deal! So don't think about returning it. My wife and I just left the Sleep Number Store, and we had an exceptionally great time buying our mattress. I had done a little research prior to shopping for a mattress, and I have physically been on other mattress brands like Tempurpedic, Serta, Posturpedic, etc., but I had never laid down on a Sleep Number bed. So having watched a bunch of YouTube reviews, I thought I should check Sleep Number out. Upon arrival, my family and I were immediately greeted by the store manager, Kyle. We told him we were looking to replace our mattress, which was long overdue for replacement. Kyle started off telling us about the different families of mattresses available, including Classic, Performance, Innovation and Memory Foam, etc. First, we got to experience a demonstration that illustrated for us in an interactive way, how the Sleep Number technology works. Some may say it is "just an air mattress," but based on the demo and my own assessment of how the mattress felt...and how my body felt, I was able to understand the premium you pay for with a Sleep Number bed. My wife and I were each able to have our "Sleep Number" adjusted on by Kyle and see how the changes made the bed feel quite different. Now that we understood the technology, we then moved to feeling the different models. We got on the P5 during the demo and the i8, i10 and iLE models. The primary differences were the number of comfort layers, cooling layers and tightness of top layer. Throughout the process Kyle pointed things out to us to consider, and asked us questions that helped us choose and figure out what we liked (and disliked) about each option. Then he left us alone to discuss. He never seemed concerned about "making the sale" as much as he wanted to make sure we understood our options. After laying down on each bed (which was sanitized before and after we touched it, by the way), we decided on the iLE 360 mattress. For us it really came down to having more comfort layers to have both the practical benefits of a customized feel, as well as a cushy (or luxurious) feel of a traditional memory foam or pillow top mattress. The purchase process is never a fun one generally, but the price transparency here was great. I didn't feel like there were any hidden costs or fast talking. All seemed to be explained in detail, and we never felt rushed or pressured. As I was filling out and signing paperwork, Kyle was great about explaining everything and even coming up with solutions for our specific situation. For example, we are moving, and he was able to make recommendations about the timing of the ship date. In full transparency, I have not slept one night on this bed yet (just ordered it today). I have only "tried" it in the store; so this review is limited to the quality of service I experienced today in the Sleep Number Store. Overall we had a great experience at this store! We shopped on Sunday when the store opened and were greeted right away by Melinda. We had done some research before going in the store so had it narrowed down to 2 different mattresses. We ended up going with the iLE 360 Smart Bed. Melinda was amazing from start to finish and we can't wait to receive our new bed! Yesterday I had this feeling we had ordered the wrong size and sure enough we needed a king instead of the cal king. Although the store was unable to change it for us, customer service did a great job helping us and even were able to move up our delivery date by two days. Recommend this store--ask for Melinda! Extra tips: wait for a sale to buy these beds! They are not cheap. Also do your research. Mattress Clarity has a great website as well as YouTube videos. This may not be the best bed for your needs. If I could give zero stars I would. Our sales rep lied to us and told us that everything was refundable and there was a 100 day return policy. Then they sneak it in the terms and conditions that the $3,000 adjustable bed base is non-refundable. The frame is more than the bed itself. My husband and I have been experiencing lower back pain and finally woke up one morning and said "TODAY IS THE DAY WE ARE GOING TO GET A NEW MATTRESS!" We had looked online at several places and despite seeing good offers online, we wanted to try them out in person. The salesman who helped us out was Kyle. He was awesome! He explained the sleep number system and helped us find our sleep number. We tried different mattress and he showed us all of the bells and whistles for each model. The process is very straightforward. Kyle had an answer for each question we asked and informed us about their warranty. The store is very clean and inviting. Another plus is that the restrooms are clean as well! The parking lot is really big as it is in a popular shopping center. There will not be any issues with parking. It should be a few weeks until we get our mattress - will update once it's here. We can't wait! read more

I wish I had the hindsight to think a little more before purchase. The only bed my husband and I found comfortable was i8, which overall would amount to just over $7000. We had the money, but I was skeptical. Sales person said we can finance it and within 100 days just get our money back. So we did that. First night sleeping on it and my feet don't even touch the bed, my husband and I ended up rolling into the middle constantly, and I woke up with numb hips. I called sleep number and they said I just need to adjust to the bed. I'm sorry but I've never experienced numbness from a new bed before. We ended up buying a bed from Costco, and it was perfect. We returned the bed about a month ago, and they still haven't processed the refund on the financing side. Now I have synchrony on my back demanding payments and I don't even have the bed anymore. I called support again yesterday to explain the situation (I've been calling trying to fix this for weeks), they put me on hold, then they told me they have to "send an email to the higher ups about your situation." They said they would call me back but I haven't heard anything from them. This is very upsetting, and I work sales as well (which also uses synchrony) and we have never had this problem before with a customer. I can't speak about the bed because everyone is different, but for the love of all that is good don't finance unless you are sure this is the right bed for you. Because apparently you will never see that money again. Edit: Called sleep number again to fix the issue with them not crediting synchrony. The service agent called syncrony but was unable to get any information because the account name was different. This was because somehow sleep number completely got my first and last name wrong and I didn't notice until I received a pamphlet from sleep number with what wasn't my name on it. Not sure what the salesperson needed my drivers license for if they put in the incorrect name anyways. She told me she will stay in contact but doesn't know how long until this will be fixed. I essentially stayed on hold for 30 minutes for nothing. I called syncrony and the man told me he will make my account zero and deal with sleep number for me. So all this is finally settled after weeks of trying to fix this, all thanks to synchrony. 5 stars for syncrony. read more

As a follow up to my post several years ago- they took my mattress back but charged me another fee for pick up. Yup. They not only charge you for delivery but also to pick up if you choose to return the mattress (most companies don't even charge delivery). This is another way Sleep Number makes money off of you. I presume they must receive a lot of returns!! And they never reimbursed me for a returned pillow (yes, it was returned within 24 hours of purchase because it was not slept on). Still unsure, we have had our problems adjusting to the bed, and we are well within our 100 night trial, and we go back and forth... is it really worth the $4500? I know that I do not like the $100 curved pillow. Also, we were led to believe that a remote comes with the bed, but turns out it doesn't, so we had to pay an extra $50++ for it. When we were with support on the phone they could not, and we could not with the cell phone app, make the bed function correctly. Needed the remote to get it configured. Also, it is annoying, but far better than it used to be, to move and hear the smart bed start clicking as it adjusts the air chambers, and the pump wakes us up every time... The support guy said, "You know you can turn off the 'SmartSense and have it like a regular bed?" to which I replied, "You know, I could just return this and get a regular bed." Oh, and the buying, delivery, and set-up needs to be shared. We bought it and they were like 3 weeks away to deliver, so we booked a morning appointment for the day that was available, and I took the day off work... Then the day before my wife gets an automated voicemail saying they would be out to deliver between 4 and 7pm. I called and told them I have plans and will not be home past 4:30, I took the day off work for them. To which they said if they do not deliver, they will send the bed back, and we can call for another appointment and get the bed in 3-4 weeks. Well, a bunch of calls and complaints, and threats to cancel, and the installers called me at like 9:30 and said they are available, can they come right over, they were there by 10am, their 2 hour set-up was done in about 20 minutes and they were on their way. I feel like... I wish I hadn't had them take the old bed. I'm not really sure we will keep this. read more

We had a great experience here yesterday and today. We walked in and someone greeted us almost immediately. Laura was helping us throughout the entire process of trying our beds and talking about price options or extras. We found our sleep number quite easily and enjoyed the process from beginning to end. It helps that they're having a Labor Day sale as well. But regardless of that, we would've purchased a sleep number bed from Laura anyway. This is an honest and unbiased review for those of you who are considering buying sleep number. I suffer from degenerative disc in my back, and I just had a neck surgery for my neck disc degeneration. I have been shopping around for beds, and I found out many people are recommending sleep number. Now, I understand each person adjusts and/or adapts to a specific setting and mattress. But if you have same symptoms as I do, do not get sleep number because it will not help you at all and it will make it worse than before. Symptoms are: severe lower back pain, shooting pain, burning on two sides of lower back, numbness of lower back and stiffness of muscles, and shooting pain all the way down to either of you feet (right foot for me). Now about this specific store and two other nearby stores which were all involved in our purchase. First salesman processed our order and said that we will get the bed in a week. I called them two days before the delivery and the headquarter said that the order was never processed and if we start over it will take 3 weeks to a month before we get the mattress. When I called to talk to the salesman to explain to me what happened his store manager got involved and said that they are sorry and nothing they can do about it. Then we went to another sleep number store nearby (within 5 miles from the previous store) and they could process the order with no problem and we got it in a week. Since the first moment that I walked into the sleep number store till when I walked out, I mentioned multiple times that I need to try the bed and I need to know if there is any return fee associated with returning the bed. The first salesman said there is absolutely no fee! He lied, there is. The second salesman which was in a different store said there is only $199 restocking fee that we need to pay if we return the bed. Since the day 1 until exactly 30 nights after that (the minimum time that was suggested for us to try the mattress before returning) my back pain intensified with a magnitude of 10!!! And I am not exaggerating. No matter how high the sleep number you adjust the bed, since it's an air chamber you are sleeping on, it sags and it curves your back. Again, if you are suffering from the symptoms I have, the curving part during the night will definitely pinch your nerves, especially if your issue is at S5-L1. Last interaction with the sleep number: we scheduled our return with them and they perfectly picked up the mattress; then we received a bill from Synchrony Bank with an amount of $490! When we called sleep number about it, they said that they charged us with two deliveries (one to our home and one out) plus the first minimum payment for the synchrony bank. I understand that the charges make sense to reader but these charges were hidden from us, and that is the problem. $490 is 1/3 of the original price of the mattress we purchased from them ($1500). Our mattress was C4. So if you are about to return your mattress remember that you will end up paying $500. We were lucky we kept our old mattress. read more

I was in dire need of my Sleep number bed replacement remote as it was lost during a recent move. I ordered it online but after 4 weeks of no updates I called & found out that it was back ordered & won't be available until next year! What!! I was disappointed as unable to adjust my bed to my sleep number of 75 & it had deflated some in the move. I called Santa Ana location & left a message in the hopes of buying it directly from them so I didn't have to wait. My back was beginning to feel a bit tight due to not sleeping on my ideal setting & hence the urgency. I got a call back from store manager Chris Phillips & he acknowledged the remote's back order issue & was empathetic towards my back pain issue & after discussing with his staff decided to offer me a floor model remote (his last one) to help out & for free! I was so relieved. Rob a store staff guided me through resetting the new remote on the phone & now my bed is back to prefect condition. I was shocked at how their i7 360 smart bed functions with your body throughout the night. You will find that it is a little pricy, but sleep is priceless. It's a great investment for your health. We knew we wanted a Sleep Number just wasn't sure which one I had an idea but needed to try them out. Our sales guy Vern did a great job. Unfortunately we could get a babysitter for our almost 2 year old so that made it s little challenging but Vern did great. I knew I wanted to go to this store as I went to the Main Place mall and didn't have as good of an experience so they lost out on a almost 9k sale from us. I thought I was going to get an i7 but after laying in it I knew that was not the bed for us. So we ended up getting the i8 with the FlexFit base. We also got some pillows and sheets. We can't wait to get our bed but if you are in the market for a sleep number please do your self a favor and go to the Santa Ana store off Bristol they do a great on. read more

WARNING...DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! They're not what they claim to be! They lead customers to believe they are getting something they're not. I wish I would have read the reviews from Kristen W., Karen C., Jeffrey N., Tillie Z., Mercedes H., & Dolma K., to name a few. They all had the same or similar problems and the company won't do a damn thing about any of it! All you are told is that there is nothing they can do! We knew almost immediately that the mattress wasn't anything like we were told! When we called to discuss with our sales person, all he would do is repeat himself over & over about starting at 100 & work down. However, you can't work down all the way or you are sleeping in a bowl & bottom out. Then he tried selling us just about every accessory to make the bed comfortable; one thing to cool the bed down, one thing to warm your feet, another thing to make the bed soft, because there's nothing soft about it! Then he told us we would have to call customer service to exchange &/or return the mattress. They straight up lie &/or don't tell you the whole truth. They don't know what the term "customer service" means, nor do they care. It's all about gouging you for as much as they can to up their commission. They use unethical business practices, false advertising, they don't disclose important issues/policies and you are told you have nothing to lose with their 90 day return policy...bullshit! We were charged $200 for delivery & pick-up of old mattress. However, due to COVID-19 they will not pick-up/take your old mattress, but you still get charged the full amount. And, what they don't bother to tell you is that you are charged another $200 if you want to exchange your bed, then another $200 if you want to return it...what a rip off! Not only do their beds suck but so do their linens. They don't even fit the mattress properly! One last issue...DO NOT FINANCE THROUGH THEM! If you do & you have a problem or want to return it, good luck getting your money back in a reasonable amount of time, if at all. We purchased a Sleep Number system for $8,500 on 5/30/22. It was delivered on 6/30/22. As a US Veteran and local teacher, they treated us very poorly. The salesman verbally indicated we could get a full refund if we didn't like the Smart Bed. We decided to try it. During the purchase the salesman knew what he was doing by rushing us through the signing and initialing process - if I had taken the time to read the fine print I would never have bought the system. I think the bed is defective because I can sleep just ok, but my wife could not sleep at all and had to go sleep in another room. I talked to the salesman 2 days later wanting a refund and I went back to the store and asked for a refund and he handed me a corporate card with a phone number and would not/could not help. When I called corporate asking for a refund indicating the system was defective they read scripts, passed me off to multiple phone operators and stated we could not get a refund on the $3500 brand new base. After reading multiple exact same complaints from other customers on multiple social media sites, I have realized that this is a scam from Sleep Number. I just wish the salesman would have been honest upfront. This is not a way to honor veterans and school teachers. read more
