I decided to re-visit and I was reminded of just how meh the menu felt to me the first time around then again I'm not really into eggs Benedict and not that much of a omelette person either. I enjoy a more traditional breakfast if you'd call it that so I ordered their biscuits & gravy which is what I believe I had the last time I was here. The food looked fine until I ate it. The biscuits were very bland and lacked any real flavor. The hash browns were overcooked and too crispy, the coffee wasn't too terribly hot either. I just simply wasn't impressed with this meal that they somehow feel they can charge $13.99 for what doesn't seem like very much food. My server was very prompt to make sure I was taken care of so I didn't have any real issues there so I can say that service was good. The look/vibe of this place is rather chill and does offer lots of outdoor seating which is nice. Other than that, I can't see this as a place I'm going to go out of my way for and especially when it comes to breakfast which is what this place claims to do best. Chicken and waffles were served with a side dish of spicy sauce, which I found odd, but they also brought a bottle of warm honey-like sauce that went perfectly with the light, airy waffle and crispy fried chicken. Did I drive 35 minutes across the bridge to try something called "pig candy?" Yes, yes I did. Was it worth it? You bet! I absolutely love candied bacon so Sleepy Rooster's menu has been calling to me. My husband I drove over on Sunday morning. I fully expected a wait but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant is actually pretty big so we were seated immediately. The service was friendly and prompt. We started with a Morning Margarita for me and a vodka ginger concoction for my husband. Both were delicious and pack a punch! The pancakes were not hot and the taste was bland. I had three side of over-medium eggs and those were fine. I ordered the pig candy bacon but I never received it and they added it to my receipt. The service could've been better and I think forgetting part of the order was crucial. The orange defense drink tasted like "naked" brand juice, I couldn't taste any ginger or turmeric in the drink. To be honest I don't think it's cold pressed juice, but I could be wrong. The avocado toast was cold, the bread was soggy, and the egg was cold too. I ordered the Farmhouse omelete minus cream cheese with a side of ($5). The side of bacon were perfectly cooked THICK pieces of bacon. We were both happy with the quantities. I give this place a slight nod over First Watch, Con Huevos, and Wild Eggs. They all have their positives and are all a little pricey with today's inflation. I have been waiting for a long time to write this review. I keep hoping the bad stuff is just a fluke. Unfortunately, it's not. The thing is, when they are good, they are really, really good. However, they are so inconsistent that really good is kinda rare. We often joke about what's going to be wrong because there's always something. For example, I have ordered their Epic Sandwich several times now. The very first time I ordered it, the parmesan cheese sauce was cold, refrigerator cold not just room temp cold. I never know how my egg is going to come out. I order my egg over easy, and only once did it come out that way. It's also supposed to have cheddar cheese, and I'm pretty sure that it never comes on my sandwich. Honestly, I didn't know it was supposed to until this review. I never checked the menus description against what I actually got. I should probably do that from now on. I don't want to pay for things I haven't received. I have ordered the Carnitas Benedict, and the poached eggs are often cold and over cooked (no runny yolk). The one thing a breakfast focused place SHOULD be able to cook correctly is an egg. The pic I attached was a time when the eggs were correctly cooked, so it can happen! Their beans have come out stone cold. The sandwich bread has been excessively dry (that was on their steak sandwich and is why I haven't ordered that again). The carnitas have been overcooked to the point that they are dry and stringy. Undercooked fries. Cold hashbrowns. Missing ingredients. I really could go on. It all boils down to inconsistency, or maybe inexperienced management. Most of the wait staff are friendly and helpful. However, there are a few with 'tudes about serving late in the day (after 2pm). We usually come in at or slightly before 2. So we are generally finished eating at 3 when they close. However, we have been still eating (so prior to 3pm) as they put all the chairs up on the tables. Chairs should not go on the tables until after 3 pm and all the customers are gone. It's just rude and makes you feel like you're not welcome. Its like them screaming at us "GET OUT!" I realize that they want to leave as soon as 3 o'clock rolls around, but I feel that if a customer walks in even 5 min before closing, they should feel as welcome as someone who walks in 5 min after opening. Every restaurant can have a bad day. I don't believe that a wrongly cooked egg or cold fries on occasion can't be overlooked. But those things should be the exception rather than the rule. read more

We tried again on a dreary Wed morning at 9:45 after calling ahead to gauge the crowd and were seated right away. FOOD: super delicious! I had divorced rancheros: crispy tortilla with refried black beans, eggs,salsa verde, salsa roja, crema and crispy hash browns. My hubby had three little pigs, a hash browns skillet w bacon, sausage, ham, gravy and eggs. I had a hard choosing and have many more options I would love to try. They also have a bar with plenty of brunch options. SERVICE: great! We had an excellent server who checked back multiple times and obtained a new egg when one of mine was over cooked. Met a friend here for an 8 AM breakfast and stayed a couple of hours for a relaxing catch-up session on a Thursday morning. Our waitress was terrific and on point. The place was relatively quiet until shortly before we departed when the majority of tables began filling up and it was time to go. Parking was easy access and plentiful -- the only drawback was multiple cars speeding through the lot on the way to other businesses in the area, so a few speed bumps would be a welcome addition for safety. I ordered a large orange juice, which seemed pricey at $7 for 16 ounces -- liquid gold -- but it was cold and tasty. I also ordered the corned beef hash Breakfast Classic item $16 off of the regular menu and it was delicious and more than I could finish. It included a significant amount of cubed brisket, roasted potatoes, sweet potatoes, onion, and topped with two eggs as well as a side order of two slices of toast with plenty of butter and jelly. I wanted a nap after this breakfast -- that's a compliment and speaks to level of satisfaction. Very busy on a Tuesday morning, packed. 20-25 minute wait, but there were 4 open stools at the bar. We walk up to sit down and the girl behind the bar says they aren't seating the bar right now... so we put our name in and waited. We were seated after 20 minutes, and our waitress was super nice. We ordered iced teas, the Baja Skillet Hash, a blueberry danish pancake to split, and the Kentuckiana Benedict. While waiting on our food, an older couple comes in, walks over, sits at the empty bar, and proceeded to be handed menus and served waters???? What??? By the same girl that told us they weren't seating the bar. Left a really poor impression and I still don't understand the reasoning for turning us away... Anywho. Our food was great, but in agreement with another review, it did seem parts of the meal were pre-made, frozen items that were just warmed up. In our case, the "hand-breaded chicken" on the Kentuckiana Benedict were definitely packaged chicken fingers from a supplier. The rest of the meal seemed to be made fresh, but the chicken wasn't. Pancake was phenomenal, loved the sweet cream and the fresh berries. Skillet hash was phenomenal as well, and filling. Huge portion. The Benedict was tasty, but not as good as the other plates. Will get something different next time. Pricing for two entrees, one pancake, and 2 teas was $42, plus a $9 tip, so $51 total. Not a cheap breakfast, but not bad considering the portions. Hopefully we're more welcomed next time at the bar when there are a ton of empty seats. read more

We finally made it to the Sleepy Rooster this morning. With it being new still there has been a pretty long wait each time we have tried. This around 9:30 was a 20 minute wait but we probably only waited 10 minutes. There were some cute little murals on the walls which helped make it a little more unique. Our food was delicious! I got the Kentuckiana which was poached eggs on a biscuit, with 2 chicken tenders and it also came with a side of has browns. My husband got an omelet, and we were both happy with our decisions. The service was a little bit slow as we waited a bit to get our check and finally just had to stop our waitress to ask for it.
