To me, this place is OVERRATED! Hands-down, worse place that I ever had a pizza. Unsure as to why this place is rated so high, perhaps it's the demographics in the area. Recently I visited the establishment on Sunday, 1/13/2018 around 7:00pm and had an experience. We should've walked away, but thought....let's try this place. Has a great rating on Yelp! So, why not? The experience started at the door when we placed our information to be seated. We were a party of 3. Not looking at us in the eyes, she greeted us with attitude while looking down entire time, as she wrote the information. It was understood later she was more concerned about her looks. As we got seated, I noticed she kept staring at her reflection in the mirror while passing. All I can say, KIDS.... these days! The waitress that took our order was pleasant. In fact, it's too bad she didn't serve our food or greet us. I wonder who our tip went to? The person that served our food that brought out the food was nothing but rude. She had tattoos on her right arm. I was fine if she never came to the table again. Drinks were not filled, but maybe once. That was a big disappointment. Ordering a salad with my meal, the dressing was tossed. The ranch dressing was like water. Hardly any dressing, I didn't ask for more. By this time, I was done with this place. The salad arrived with nothing but huge leaves. My party and I had to actually cut the leaves to eat them properly. If you look at the photo that's posted, you will notice how big the lettuce is. My friend, ordered chicken wings. He claims they were delicious but needed more sauce. I agree. In fact, I didn't even know they had sauce on them until I tried it and tasted the flavor. The pizza arrived and to my dismay I didn't snap a picture. However, if you like a pizza full of veggies, this may be your place. With the previous owner, the service was not great. With a new owner, we thought we would try it again since it is right down the street. BIG MISTAKE! #1 - The food was awful! Go get Costco pizza and save your money. At least that will be cooked. #2 - That pickup counter is a disaster along with the girl that lost our food. Had to wait 25 minutes more once we got there, after being told on the phone it wound be 30 minutes. They had the ticket to charge us but lost the food and it needed cooked, again. #3 - A box of rocks has more brains than anyone in the place, including General Manager Kenny. Best ingredients! I ordered a large supreme pizza for Sunday nights football game and we enjoyed watching the Chargers lose to the Raiders while feasting on our pizza! What a memorable experience!!! The double crust stuff pizza was hot, fresh, and tasty (the crust is incredible and I wish I would have ordered garlic knots)...and the pizza was huge. The pastry chef was delivering fresh sweets and we tasted the perfect snicker doodle cookies while we were waiting for our takeout. But the best part of our experience was the gracious staff: the young lady at the register was friendly and full of smiles, but then we met who we assume was the owner. Wow, he was engaging, outgoing, and made everything about our lunch perfect. Even though it's a drive from our house, I really look forward to coming back soon. read more

OK, let's talk about the food. I started with the minestrone soup. It was super bland, had the flavor of a can of tomatoes, the vegetables were undercooked. Disappointment! Ordered the eggplant Parmesan with mushroom risotto. The eggplant was obviously frozen not fresh. The risotto was not creamy at all, and the risotto was undercooked. I asked for bread, and it came to me very hot and raw in the middle. Final order was tiramisu. Absolutely no flavor, only mascarpone on top not between layers. He finally stopped to offer us our pizza that had been "left on the top of the oven as cooks thought it was a to-go order. Would you like it or make a new one?". Aside from that, there's not much to write home about here. Everything was mediocre. Filling and good portion sizes but just mediocre taste. The bread that comes at the table was fresh and warm, the butter served with it was very cold and solid, not good for spreading. The chopped salad was lacking, the Stromboli tasted like it was microwaved to be heated up because the crust was rock hard.... not good. Great menu with lots of delicious things to find on it, but I'm just going to talk about their calzone. I worked at a Slice that no longer exists. I'm told that the owner of this one used to own one in Santa Monica before moving inland, and The Slice continued to Playa Vista and Redondo Beach. Working at the latter, I was a big fan of the food, specifically the calzone. When it closed, I tried every pizza place in my area, and none of their calzones could come close. It was like a bucket list. Something I wanted to try at least one more time. I recently took a trip to Rancho Mirage. And driving by, I remembered hearing about The Slice out there. I went in, excited as could be. One bite of it, and instantly the nostalgic taste flooded me with warmth and happiness. My mouth watered, and slight tears filled my eyes. It is the best combination of cheeses, the texture of the crust, the marinara sauce. I can go on about the pizza, the salads, the subs, and especially the wings, which are amongst my favorite. This is the second worst pizza I have ever had. It almost beat Little Ceaser's to the bottom. You know how some people eat a pizza, and when they get to the crust where there is no sauce or cheese, they just stop eating......................that is the entire slice of pizza. It is all crust. I could see the red color where the sauce was supposed to be, but I could not taste it enough. I thought pizza was supposed to have mozzarella. Flat bread.........I kept looking at it every time after taking a bite, thinking did I just have pizza or was this like a flatbread some restaurants offer at the beginning of a meal......made with hints of dried tomato. Found this location on yelp. My sister's and I decided to stop by before coming back to LA and we sure are glad we did. We had the best experience at this location. The food was bomb.com. The wings were actually spicy (unlike most locations) and the pizza was pure perfection. The waiter was a cool guy who kept checking up on us and was super friendly! I really really want to give this place a good rating but just can't after last night. I ordered a pizza and was told 15 minutes. So I sent my son over there to pick up. Upon getting there he was told he was needing to wait 40 minutes!!! AND the order was WRONG because I asked for onions and the pizza came home with them. I also have a problem with not nearly enough sauce and too much cheese. I come from the Northeast where pizza is taken seriously and around here nobody can seem to get it right. Plus they don't give the person taking orders the right info on pick up times or write down orders correctly. I think your place has great potential with a few tweaks. read more

We recently moved to Rancho Mirage and started trying the local restaurants. Our best find has been The Slice. We tried it for lunch with their fantastic assortment of specials. I always test out an Italian restaurant with the spaghetti bolognese. The slice passed the test with flying colors. For a lunch special it was quite large. Plenty of sauce and accompanied by garlic knots. Since then we've been back for dinner numerous times. As I'm hooked on the bolognese I keep ordering it with a different pasta each time. They offer some great sauces with a wide variety of pasta choices. Their dinner portion is huge. I always have leftovers. Also their meatballs are incredible. I always add two or three. They recently added a huge patio with live music Thursday-Sunday. We were there this past Friday night and had the great fortune to hear a singer named Marc Antonella. Absolutely a fantastic singer. Singing everything from Frank Sinatra to classic songs and even some opera. No cover charge for a singer I'd pay good money to hear. A huge unexpected test. Lastly the owners couldn't be nicer. Wow, so I go to pick up my order, this guy (HE CLAIMS HES THE GM, and CLAIMS HIS NAME IS KENNY, HE WASN'T WEARING A NAME TAG) is running around with his head cut off, he greets me, then says I'll be right back let me get this glass of wine out... COOL, I respect that. So he comes back and asks if I'm picking up, I said yes, he turns around, does something else, gets back to me... THEN sees a guy behind me, (ONE OF THE PLACES THAT PICK UP ORDERS AND DELIVERS), SO, he then pushes me off for a 2nd time bc Kenny (GM) says "let me take care of the guy behind you bc the delivery guy is for pick-up." I said, " so am I , you just asked me if I'm here for pick-up". He then proceeds to take care of the guy, (I get it they have contracts with these people and want to get the food out on time), but my item was ready too. Okay, so now, he gets to me... I give him my card, Kenny says, "answer these questions for my guys in the back". Referring to a tip, I know that Kenny. So I answer the questions and Kenny then says you did something wrong, I said umm, no I answered the questions... HE THEN INSULTS ME AND SAYS" ITS YOUR FAULT SIR YOU PROBABLY DIDNT READ IT RIGHT ". Drinks are served in 1ft tall glass mugs with plenty of ice. The ice is the nice clear kind from a Hoshizaki ice maker. The iced tea is a traditional black tea fresh brew and is prepared perfectly. Buffalo wings were very tasty. I get them dry with hot and mild on the side and they tasted good with or without sauce. We ordered the 16" Favorite pizza and it was 8 slices of good pizza. The flavors were there and I liked it a lot. The center was a little soggy but that is to be expected in a NY style pizza. Service was excellent and kitchen hauls to get your order out quickly. The cheese lasagna I'm extremely fond of. Only have had in tent and carry out, looking forward to exploring more selections soon. Inviting atmosphere, even if a tent in parking lot, clean and friendlier than most. A true "slice of hone". Love this place. The service is always warm and friendly and I am pretty sure we had the coolest server ever yesterday. He smiled a lot, didn't question weird requests, and one of the people with me that is a little particular said, "This guy gets me!" I've been going a lot lately because my mother is gluten-free and she says it is the best pasta in town. It takes longer because they make sure that it is completely gluten-free for celiacs. The booths are roomy and big so you have plenty of elbow space and the decor is fun! Mr. Particular ordered the calzone, and being Italian and ... um, particular, he likes it just a certain way. Amazingly, he was VERY pleased, he says the only thing he would change is that they would have real ham. He doesn't like the Canadian bacon substitute for ham because it is salty and has a different taste than he would like. I love the very reasonable lunch special, slice of pizza, nice salad, and a drink. They have several to choose from. But it doesn't include the drink you want! You must try the white sangria on a warm day. It is refreshing and has fresh oranges and crispy apples. It tastes so good, you may as well go for the 22 OZ off the bat!
