Slices is a great place to pick up a quick bite to eat when you are visiting Desert Ridge. I had a slice of the BBQ Chicken pizza and a slice of Hawaiian. Both were very good! That is just 2 of the wide variety of pizza options they provide. The staff is friendly and they toss your slices in the oven for a couple minutes to make sure it is warm for you too. The only downfall is a lack of seating, but that can be remedied by the abundance of outdoor seating right outside the front door. That man in my previous post was at it again, but seemed to be firing people(yes people, more than one, I think he threatened 2 people while I was inside). I almost wept when I saw they had opened a Slices at this end of town. I don't know what makes this pizza so wonderful, but it's delicious. Try the veggie or white pizza... Quick and budget friendly for small eaters like me. This is the place I stuff my face in between breaks from work. bacon, cheddar and potato pizza is my fav. + jones creme soda (my fav creme flav soda) = my ideal meal. Good pizza in a pinch. Perfect for satisfying the appetite that you build up from shopping and walking around. It's quick, decent priced and portions are large. It's great on the toppings, the thin crust and, oh yeah, the grease too. But what kind of pizza fix would it be without the grease? While we won't be going out of our way to pick up pizza at Slices we know it's a good go to place when we're out and about at Desert Ridge and in the mood for some pizza. Take note that there isn't much space to sit inside but there's plenty of tables outside in the shopping center which is better for people watching anyhow! read more

IMHO, Slices is the best NYC style pizza in Arizona and I've tried more than 50 places. They started out with 3 shops, eventually losing the one off Mill Avenue in Tempe. Now I'm concerned the one on N. Tatum Blvd may be going the way of the store on Mill Avenue. The place was unkempt and the selection of pies has started to decrease. That's how it started with the shop on Mill. Right now, their best shop is the one in Tempe Marketplace on Rio Salado. They need to rededicate themselves to fixing the N. Tatum Blvd location, because their pie is the best. read more

Great pizza! I'd call it Philly/NJ style, as the crust was rather doughy and not thin but on the thinner side. I ordered a slice of margarita, and it was delicious. Sauce was mild, and the mozz slices were a great compliment. There were at least 8 pizzas to choose from, and probably more options that I didn't see. The options were very varied and I think there was something there for everyone. They also have one of those soda machines where you can customize everything. The place is small and kind of cozy. There are one or two small tables, and then one long table that seats like 20 people. There is plentiful outdoor seating outside around fireplaces and the water feature for kids. I noted at least two dessert options, but it's close to cold stone and other locations if you're looking for more dessert options. Nice place! I'd def go again. read more

Pizza was delicious. Went to nori spent $72. Walked across to Slices- spent $2. Asked for half of a slice (to be healthy). Girl said, "no." So I brought my son and his friend to Desert Ridge today, a rainy day when their high school closed early and their college classes at PVCC got canceled. Just wanted to get them some lunch and keep them busy for awhile. My son wanted Slices, but his friend wanted Panda Express. So we picked up Panda first and then brought it here so they could eat together. Desert Ridge was, well, deserted with the heavy rain, but for some reason the manager here thought he needed to tell us "Don't do that again!" referring to bringing outside food in here. We thought he was joking so we laughed. He made it clear he was very serious. It was awkward, and frustrating. He said if the owner were here he'd ask us to leave, and then asked us if we knew of any other businesses that tolerate outside food. I've never had a business ask us to leave because of outside food before. Especially at Desert Ridge. It's basically a food court! I'd get it if they were busy and we were taking up valuable space, but again, it was deserted. There's a time and a place to have a heavy hand with customers. This wasn't it. Disappointing experience for sure. My son finished his pizza and before his friend had time to cfinish his Panda we left I'm sure we'll be back because we like the food, but it's gonna be hard to forget this experience. I went here with three friends. I had no previous encounters here but my friend said that they were nice previously. When I went in, I noticed there were 7-8 workers just talking and they had NO customers. (When we came in they were completely unprepared for us) I ordered a single slice of pepperoni pizza and the total came out to about $4.30 but when I went to pay I realized I only had around $4.00 but I also had an 100 dollar bill on me. I asked them if they had change for $100 but they said no. The lady then very angrily snatched the slice of pepperoni pizza back but it didn't bother me much so I just sat down and I waited for my friends to receive there order to watch them eat. As one friend was paying for his order on the cash register, my other friend asked if he could pay on the other one. The lady working there unkindly replied no and he said sorry. I was sitting down nearby so I was able to hear the rude things have said under her breath. The friend was able to pay for his meal on the working register and when the friend that had been told the other register wasn't working went to receive his meal, they MESSED UP HIS ORDER. Again, the lady angrily snatched his slice of pizza back up and gave him the correct slice. I'm not the kinda person to critique a restaurant because they messed up, heck this is my first and potentially only review on yelp but I just thought the world might appreciate a true first opinion on a restaurant. The old man did reply after I said thank you on the way out though, so thank you! Slices began its journey in Massachusetts. In Amherst, next to umass (my Alma mater) there was a pizza joint called Antonio's. In the late 90s they sold their recipe to some guys to open a new pizza place in Tempe called 'Slices'. The rest is history. The large picture on the wall is of college kids eating right outside of Antonio's in Amherst. It was taken in the 90's..notice the bikes in the pics have no suspension. Wasn't a thing back then. I have eaten at Antonio's from 1992 to 1997 and Slices from 1998 to present. Always consistent and my favorite by far is the BBQ chicken. God, I was really trying to give this place a second chance. In December me, my husband and 2 year old had horrible customer service with a blond there and I even went in and told her that her tone and choice of words were offensive whether she meant to be rude or not. Went in today and it was all about the same. Different person but same attitude. I got a kids meal for my child who wasn't with me and the woman even asked if I'd like to have the pizza cut in small pieces (which I thought was considered). Minutes later she gave me the pizza on a plate and when I went to pick it up I asked for a to go box and she responded well you need to let me know next time you want it to go because it's difficult getting the hot pizza from a plate to a box.... umm wtf did you think you were cutting little pieces for myself? You should have asked me. I'm the customer. It's little stuff like this that makes people leave you one star on Yelp all on this page. There are tons of ways you could have said that better. Let me give you an example, sorry, let me do that for you. It may take a second because I don't want to have your pizza too. OR sorry, I should have doubled checked. OR how about when you cash someone out ask them if it's to go. I believe my last experience was one whete the blond girl just plain stated no she couldn't cut the pizza into small slices because we didn't ask before hand and it was on the bottom of our larger order so oh well!
