My husband and I called in a takeout order from here tonight! My husband called in around 5 pm, it was ready on time in 40 minutes. They were closing by the time he got there as apparently they only make 42 pizzas per day and that's it! We got a plain cheese pizza. It was definitely on the pricier side, $30 about for a large. The pizza was good, the crust held up well, but we both thought there was a slightly odd aftertaste? May have just been the specific pizza we had.

Great pizza, good under carriage, and the ingredients are definitely quality. They take their time to make the pizza, but all for good reason. The restaurant is really nice inside, no dining. The owners are nice as well. Only thing I will say is the pizza is pricey. It's $28 for an 18 inch pepperoni pizza. Cash only!

If you are looking for bomb a$$ NY style pizza this is the spot. Robert (the face) and Dino (the Pizzola) are both great characters in this pizza story. Both help out but it's just these two "older gentlemen" slangin great pies. If you are in a hurry don't come but if you're willing to wait for some good pizza lovin then this is the spot. Call when they open and they will make your pie for what time you need it. Basically they make it when you get there so be prepared to wait 15 for the pizza but sit back and enjoy chatting with Robert while you wait and have a sarsaparilla for "Mexican" coke. They buy only good stuff, take their time, and it shows. Start with the ONKY thing that wasn't excellent... probably the only thing they don't make in house... Ranch is tart. I have a feeling they wouldn't like people that like ranch with pizza though. Probably hidden valley or Ken's but that's OK! They do have wings so heads up. Just not my favorite. Pizza has a GREAT crisp and chew. Couldn't be better!!! We got two pies... a whole white and a half pepperoni and the other half sausage and mushroom. The white was delicious. Heavy on garlic and great flavor. Crust was the same on both. Perfect New York. I might add fresh mozzarella next time. A winner! Pepperoni has a nice spice and SUPER solid. Love it. The sausage and mushroom half was definitely the best I've had. Some sort of ethereal mild sweetness that was divine. Quality is tangible. NY pizza is not a "best pizza I ever had" type of thing for me (that's Cibo but this is TOTALLY different, just to give you all an idea of my style). This is up there, and possibly the BEST NY PIZZA I'VE HAD, including in NY, for sure. Well done! And I will be back!! Thank you Robert and Dino!!!

O.G. Pizza has become my family's go-to pizza spot in Phoenix. The owners are friendly and really care about the pizzas they make. The ingredients are fresh and high quality. We can't wait to try their other pizzas. Highly recommend giving this place a shot!

This pizza is excellent. I have not had better pizza in Arizona. This place is a room with some guys and some ingredients and an oven. The pie is very clean, I wasn't fighting grease on the underside and using napkins. You could easily take this pizza on the go and eat it easily. The service was great.

Delicious pepperoni pizza! Terrific crust with a great chew. Tasty sauce and really flavorful cheese. Old school NY style. Yes, you can fold it! Nice guys too!

Ask the Community - O.G. Pizza

Do they do slices like a traditional NY parlor?

I want to say they do; I believe I remember when I checked their menu they had slice options. They do run out of regular pies on a daily basis and I would believe so on slices too, so they might not always be available.

This is great for a date night, catching up with a friend, or even getting a bite to yourself. Wine: Had a Wilcox wine and it wasn't very good. Mozzarella salad was really good. Pizza I felt had too much of a smoked taste and just didn't have much flavor. Crust was the best part. We ordered a couple of sodas and the same slices we ordered last time, pepperoni and vodka slices. The slices were delivered in no time! They were hot and crispy! I don't know what happened, but the quality just wasn't there. I could not taste the sauce on my pizza. It was non existent. It was like eating pizza bread with cheese and pepperoni. The Vodka pizza had no detectable sauce on it either. It also tasted just like cheese bread. I don't know if its because of different pizza makers or the new standard, but I was disappointed. I was very impressed last visit and even made a statement that the Vodka slice may be my new favorite. I was a little let down this time around!

You can also get a whole pie of your choice. They grate fresh parm on all the slices which I thought was a nice touch. The girl at the register seemed very knowledgeable about all the pizzas and gave us lots of details and recommendations which we appreciated. First we got the green, di Parma, and the Phoenix. The green has pistachios and fresh arugula on it, I thought the overall flavor was too sweet and the pistachios weren't crush enough. The Phoenix was good, very honey forward and overall the flavor didn't stick out to me. The di Parma was a cheese pizza with procuttio and ricotta, overall a little plain to me. I think they all would've tasted better hot, but I understand that's not super realistic for a slice shop. For our second order we got the vodka sauce slice, which was for sure my favorite. First of all it was piping hot, and that elevated the whole experience. I thought the sauce was so flavorful and savory, and the basil made a perfect bite. I would go back for a whole pie of this! I really liked the prices here, we got dinner for less than $25 for 2. I wouldn't mind coming back to try some other slices and get a pie of the vodka!

I won't add to my previous review regarding the food, as it is still just as fantastic. And while the old location had its charm (mainly that it was more intimate and a bit quieter), the new location is overall an immense improvement. First of all, it is much larger, modern, and very tastefully decorated without losing as much of the intimacy as they could keep. For instance, the decor on the walls makes you feel like you are somewhat at home, with photos of the Spinato family and other tasteful finishes. Everything is comfortable without being too casual or formal. It's definitely more open concept now, and bar-lovers will appreciate the full bar, as the old location only had a tiny one. The covered patio area is much nicer, and with an eastern exposure, it should bake in the sun less than the old place's western exposure for most of their operating hours. We were seated at a half-booth, and the restaurant was very crowded because it was their first Friday night at this location. Nonetheless, we arrived early enough to be seated without a wait. I will say that the food took a very long time to arrive--40 minutes or more--but I'm chalking that up to the crowd and growing pains at the new location. Our server recognized us, welcomed us to the new place, and was as friendly as usual, though he didn't have much time for chat-chat with how busy they were. Very much looking forward to more visits to Spinato's at this fabulous new location!

Lil Capo Pizzeria 5.0/5 The Closest Thing to New York…read morePizza I've Found in Arizona Growing up in Upstate New York, I admittedly have high standards when it comes to pizza. After moving to Arizona in 2007, I've spent years searching for a slice that genuinely reminds me of home. While there are plenty of decent pizza spots throughout the Valley, very few capture that authentic New York style. Lil Capo Pizzeria absolutely does! Ironically, I first discovered Lil Capo after an Arizona Cardinals game. Like many people, I wasn't interested in paying stadium prices for mediocre food, so I jumped on Yelp looking for something nearby. Lil Capo had outstanding reviews, so we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did because it's now my benchmark for New York-style pizza in Arizona. The first thing that stood out was the crust. This is exactly what a New York slice should be--thin, crispy on the bottom, slightly chewy inside, sturdy enough to fold, and never overloaded with grease. So many places think "New York style" simply means making a large slice. Lil Capo understands it's really about the balance of crust, sauce, cheese, and texture. Every bite reminded me why I miss pizza back east. The sauce has just the right amount of sweetness and acidity, the cheese is perfectly proportioned, and everything tastes fresh without trying to reinvent what already works. Sometimes simplicity executed well is the hardest thing to accomplish. Pizza: 5/5 Service was equally impressive. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and efficient. After selecting our slices, they quickly reheated them to perfection and had them on our table within minutes. It's exactly what you want from a neighborhood pizzeria--fast, relaxed, and genuinely hospitable. Service: 5/5 I also appreciated the atmosphere. Lil Capo isn't trying to be flashy or trendy. Instead, it has that classic neighborhood pizzeria feel where the focus stays exactly where it should--on making outstanding pizza. It's casual, comfortable, family-friendly, and somewhere you could easily become a regular. The pricing is another pleasant surprise. Considering the quality of the pizza and the generous slice sizes, I found everything to be very fairly priced. Overall Finding authentic New York-style pizza in Arizona has been surprisingly difficult over the years, but Lil Capo delivers exactly what I've been searching for. Authentic New York-style crust Excellent sauce-to-cheese ratio Minimal grease Friendly, efficient service Fair prices Comfortable neighborhood atmosphere I've eaten pizza throughout New York my entire life, and Lil Capo remains the closest I've found to the real thing anywhere in Arizona. Whenever I'm on the west side of the Valley--or heading to or from a Cardinals game--I find myself looking for an excuse to stop in. Next time, I'm skipping the slices and ordering an entire pie. If you're a fellow New Yorker living in Arizona and craving a slice that tastes like home, Lil Capo should be at the top of your list.
