Humble Bistro is our go-to spot for happy hour, lunch, or dinner. Recently I came for lunch and decided to try something new. I ordered The Kosher, one of their "Humble Etta's" options. It's their take on bruschetta, although I'd describe it more as a flatbread. It comes topped with honey smoked salmon, jalapeño cream cheese, red onion, crispy fried capote capers, chili oil, lemon, and parsley. The flavors were good, especially the honey smoked salmon, but unfortunately it had very little jalapeño cream cheese. Without it, the flatbread was a little dry. I also would have loved a little more chili oil and lemon. The cream cheese would have added the richness it needed. Thankfully, our other dishes were great. We ordered the Smorgasbord, which is consistently fabulous, and split the Humble Caesar, one of our all-time favorites. Those two dishes never disappoint. Humble Bistro continues to be one of favorites. If I order The Kosher again I would ask they make sure and add cream cheese. read more

Nice casual ambiance but a little loud inside the dining room area as it was one large room. There was patio seating available as well as the bar area. One interesting thing - the bar seating was reservations only. We met up with a family friend for dinner. I tried their chicken Parmesan dinner which came with their homemade pasta- flavorful and delicious! My husband enjoyed the caprese appetizer which was served with naan/pita bread and had lots of veggies within the mix! He also tried the 3-ball appetizer which was just as delicious as the caprese. The feel of the restaurant is like a cafe that also offered some outdoor dining. We started off with the Caprese Salad which was delicious with just the right amount of pesto. Really enjoyed a number of factors about this place. Our server was incredible. We had some characters in our group and she kept them laughing and in check. I'm actually pretty disappointed. I've been here a few times once for dine-in and a few times for take-out. The first time I got the short rib pasta it was to die for- creamy, tender, flavorful and everything was well balanced. The last few times the pasta was just eh, this most recent time the short rib wasn't even broken apart and it felt like the dish was just thrown together. Not sure if management or chefs have changed but it's not the same as it was a few years ago. Humble fries are really good topped with parmesan and chili flakes but aren't spicy. They come with some fun sauces too. Like a sweet sauce, ranch, and an aïoli. These have been consistently good every time! Location is really nice since it's in the Desert Ridge area and it's a nicer casual restaurant. Inside is smaller but there is a small seating area outside that either has fans in the summer or heater in the winter. Great place for a date night or a night out with the gals! read more

I've visited twice: once was my second meal upon moving to Phoenix and the other was most recently on a Thursday evening for dinner. Located on High Street in Desert Ridge, you'll be able to find free parking in the various lots surrounding this district or the garage. Since I'm within walking distance, I've been on foot both times I've visited. Ambiance (4.5/5): Humble Bistro is a good looking restaurant. It achieves a nice balance of being trendy and nice while still feeling homey and comfortable. I sat at a half booth upon my most recent visit. There's also a small patio. It's a relatively small restaurant and was packed almost to the brim on a Thursday evening. It can get a little loud, but not overly burdensome. And the lights are dimmed down a bit which creates a nice ambiance. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress did a fantastic job taking care of us. She was friendly (a smile goes a long way), attentive, and efficient. Which is all you hope for, especially when a restaurant is busy while you're dining there. I was trying to decide between three options, and she gave me her recommendation. And she was on target with it. Drinks (N/A): I had an Arnold Palmer, so not much to write home about. With that being said, they have a full bar, including a wine list and cocktails. Food (4.5/5): I had the chicken parm which is served with linguine. This is a classic Italian dish that I've had countless times over the years. And this was the best one I've ever had. The chicken cutlet was fried just right. The breading, tomato sauce, and mozzarella sauce were perfect. It's a relatively simple dish, but Humble Bistro somehow does things better than anywhere I've tried. And it was a filling portion too. While the menu is Italian-centric, there are new American options too. It's an interesting menu with a lot of appetizing choices. For the quality of the food you're getting, Humble Bistro is moderately priced. Which makes it a big winner in my book. Oh my goodness where do I start!! Went for brunch and did not leave behind one thing. The wings are some of the best I have ever had. The meat literally falls right off the bone. The sauces are amazing. The Caesar Salad has shaved Brussels sprouts and Parmesan and is also one of the best if not the best Caesar salad I have ever had. It's very seldom that we finish an entire salad at a restaurant and I swear I could've licked the plate clean. Seriously so delicious. If you go to Humble, order the Caesar. Extremely loud - I could not even hear the person sitting next to me. You could tell everyone in the restaurant was yelling at each other. Heard other tables complain of noise levels as well. Made me want to leave and go somewhere else but decided to stay as the food was decent from a previous experience . From the variety of seating options to the chandeliers to the copper ceiling, I really enjoyed the aesthetic of Humble Bistro. It gave me vibes of NYC, but I was told it was designed as a French Bistro. Whichever it was, it works! We were greeted as soon as we entered, and seated immediately as it wasn't too busy. (We usually eat early when we go out to avoid the crowds.) Our server, Alexis, was awesome! She was witty and charming, and chatted easily with every table. She's exactly the type of server every restaurant should have. We ordered the Forno Bread, Humble's answer to garlic bread - house made sourdough with garlic, cheese and olive oil, plus a kick of heat with calabrian flakes. Great flavor and plenty to share. The menu had so many delicious looking options. I decided on the Pasta Rosa and Meatballs - pappardelle pasta with 3 meatballs, whipped ricotta and fresh basil. Now I can be a bit picky about meatballs, but these were excellent. Pasta was perfectly cooked and the only thing I might have liked was a little more ricotta. (I'm a big fan of ricotta.) The portion size was perfect. So often it's a huge bowl of pasta and 2 measly meatballs, but this was an even ratio of pasta to meatballs and yet I still had enough to take home for tomorrow's lunch. Hubby had the Forno Short Rib, which is a 12hr braised short rib over Humble Fries. He loved it! The short rib was fork tender, and practically melted in my mouth (yes, I tried a little), and the fries are well cooked and full of flavor. Combined with the short rib - a flavor explosion! We also split a creme brulee for dessert. Delicious and a nice size for one, but as we were bordering on full from our meal, it was a perfect sharing size for us. We know we'll be back! read more

Humble bistro is located on High St in Desert Ridge which is a really cool street with restaurants, bars, and shops. This is such a great location to grab dinner and drinks with some of friends which is what brought us here! The server was very friendly and helped walk us through the menu and explained each dish to us. Ultimately, we knew we wanted to try the pastas which sounded amazing to us. The Cremini Sacchetti was our favorite! I loved the truffle taste in the brown butter sauce, the truffles weren't overpowering and complimented the pasta perfectly. Humble Bistro stays in its lane - consistent, dependable, the kind of place you don't have to overthink. Last night, the table went in on a margarita pizza add ricotta, meatballs, caprese, and short rib pappardelle. And yeah, HB is consistent, but this round came back a little uneven. The pizza leaned too long in the oven, Forno bread punched hard with salt, and the caprese felt a bit "overproduced," like it was trying to impress instead of just being. Service was excellent! Best moment of the night came after dinner. I asked for a standard Italian digestif, no dice. Swung to a go-to dessert liqueur, also a no. I feigned disappointment, and the server, without missing a beat, informed me: "We're French, not Italian." Hmm.... I went to brunch with my family and I want to start with the fact that the service was great. Every person we interacted was so nice and they were so attentive. The savory foods were delicious. For instance, the wings were so tender and crispy. I do wish they would've tossed the wings in the sauce but overall delicious. The Humble Hash was so well rounded, very flavorful and filling. Just needed some salt and hot sauce to perfect it. The sweet plates were not it. The waffle seemed to be crystallized which just made it overly sweet and the cream on it had a lot of orange zest which overpowered the whole thing. Had a great evening at Humble Bistro! The food and service were outstanding. I had the lasagna, which was delicious- do not miss. The two sauces were amazing and it was so fresh. My husband had one of the pizzas, which he enjoyed. I would pass on the porno bread, which I thought was going to be crunchy crusty sour dough but was just flat bread. Next time I will get one of the salads because they looked so good at the table next to us. We also ordered a bottle of the Silk and Spice red blend wine based on another review (pretty good, next time I might try something else). FWIW, Wine bottles are 50% off if you take an unopened bottle to go. The atmosphere is bustling yet somehow intimate. We talked to the people sitting next to us but also felt alone. It is close quarters if it is something you care about. Our server (who was training another server) was great and offered a lot of great recommendations. We had such a fun night at Humble Bistro! The food, drinks, and overall atmosphere were all spot on. We started with a Humble Marg and a Tequila Old Fashion--both were well-balanced and delicious, especially that smoky depth in the old fashion. For food, we had the 3 Balls Meatballs (so good--tender, flavorful, and comforting) and the Forno Bread, which was perfectly warm, crusty, and ideal for dipping. The Wedge Salad is always one of our go-to's, and theirs did not disappoint--super fresh and loaded with all the good stuff. Service was great--friendly and attentive without hovering. The only tiny miss (and honestly not a big deal) was that we asked a couple times for salt and pepper and never ended up getting it. Didn't ruin the night at all, just something small. We'll absolutely be back. My girlfriends and I chose to go here for brunch as they had really reasonable prices on their online menu and a nice ambience. When we walked in we were sat on the patio, which was perfect because it was a beautiful day. We proceeded to order coffee as we were there for breakfast, but they do not have coffee. How do you serve breakfast without coffee? When we looked at our menus the prices were all increased from what was previously shown on their website. Hmmmm.... The waitress then proceeded to take our drink order (Bloody Mary, mimosas and red sangria). The bloody mary is supposed to come with a pepperoni skewer but it never did. The mimosa special is just champagne and if you want juice that's extra. The red sangria however was fantastic. We proceeded to order our entrées, I was surprised they came to the table within a reasonable time as we had to wait awhile to get more cocktails. The food was very good however...even the neighboring customers were eyeing. So all and all, I liked the ambience and I enjoyed the food. However....Who doesn't include juice with champagne? Who doesn't have coffee when serving breakfast? @humblebistro update your menu online...that's false advertising. I would probably give this place another shot but definitely wouldn't go back for brunch. They should consider partnering with the coffee shop down the street. read more
