I've had a few items here that I've enjoyed. Let's start with the service, everyone was warm and friendly and helpful. When I've gone here to pick up DoorDash orders and for the times I've picked up food for myself they have always been attentive to me. They have a system that works and they keep it cleaned and organized. I had the chicken sandwich when they had the free chicken sandwich promo. Check the app it might still be up there for you since it was up there when you're new on the app. The chicken sandwich was really good. I ordered the garlic chips with it and they were nice as well. The second time I went there I ordered the fried chicken wrap with the garlic aioli sauce with fried okra and that was just as good. My sandwich and Mac n cheese were both hot and tasty. The sweet tea was good. The dessert jars are fresh and yummy. I ordered a strawberry one and a Oreo cookie one. The dessert jars are basically cheese cake bites and whipped cream. They had four flavors which strawberry, Oreo, birthday cake, and Reese's pieces. I ordered the 7 tender combo w fried mushrooms and another one w fries. Man this is like a canes but more superior the chicken is seasoned. More options like sandwiches wings and tenders and bowls much more sauces which are super tasty and offer variety. The slims sauce is similar to canes but I think canes sauce is watery and kind of salty this has the peppery Ness like canes but a little thicker. Fire ranch as well. I like that you can get the chicken tossed in sauces also if u like. I don't like that they say texas toast but it's just toasted white bread however it is buttery and delicious. I love the random option for fried mushrooms as a side. I appreciate that I paid extra for sauces and received all sauces I paid for and the two sauces that come within the combo. I ordered an 8 wing meal with honey bbq sauce and bleu cheese dipping sauce. The wings were very dry and hard and the meat lacked flavor significantly. My wings definitely needed more honey bbq sauce. Also, they forgot to put the bleu cheese dipping sauce in my bag. In regards to the service, my most recent experience was weird. I wanted to use Apple Pay so I had to pay when I got to the window which I was cool with. I paid, but I sat for a good 3-5 minutes before I received my food. I received my food after the manager came to the window to ask if I had been helped. I responded "yes, I'm just waiting on my food". She asked my name and turned around and passed me my food. However, while I was sitting there waiting for my food, I noticed the employee that was helping me initially started taking orders out of the side door to give to cars in line behind me. I understand why fast food restaurants do that, but I just don't understand why I waited longer when the girl had been in and out the store at less 2 times and never came back to the window with my order. read more

I love Slim Chickens; however, I only get to eat here when I am in the Fairwood area of Bowie, MD. Slim Chickens is very similar to Chick-fil-a, Zaxby's, or Raising Canes, but the chicken tastes very different and the menu is massive. I love the option to get a variety of sauces, in addition to wings, tenders, and just about anything else that you can think of. My only complaint is that the sides could use a lot of work. The restaurant is fairly clean. The customer service is exceptional. I plan to eat at Slim Chickens as often as possible in the future. read more

I made the drive out to Bowie to try out Slim Chickens and let me tell you, I'm glad I did. As of now (December 27, 2022) when I went, this is the ONLY location for this franchise in Maryland. There is expansion planned, however. Now on to the important stuff. I ordered the Cayenne Ranch Chicken Sandwich which as you can see has fried onions, lettuce, pickles, cayenne ranch mayo, and a Southern fried chicken breast on a brioche bun. Not pictured is my side item which was coleslaw. I put the order in and went to use the restroom to wash up. I came out and it was sitting on my table. The food was fresh and tasted delicious. A light breading on the chicken with a good seasoning on it gave great flavor. The chicken wasn't dry either and the onion straws gave a nice layer to it all. I was equally impressed with the coleslaw. Speed of service as I mentioned was fantastic and overall, good customer service. The restaurant was very clean inside which is always a good sign. I've come back twice since I first visited. The service has improved and so has the food. I would not recommend the wings at all, but the tenders and the fries are good. The fries do not have salt, so you have to put your own. The Korean bbq sauce is good, but a tad spicy. The dining area and tables are clean as well. It's not a great spot, but decent. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally did. I got the wings and tender combo with the korean bbq on the side. The everything was bomb and still crispy after the drive home. We went through the drive-thru and had heard that they were slow, but the time it took wasn't especially long. From the outside, the place looked clean and shiny, and I wouldn't mind sitting in another time. We got two hungry meals and got to try a few different sauces. I LOVED the strips and my partner loved the fries, so it was a success between us. The strips reminded me of chick fil à without the guilt. I couldn't tell the difference between the BBQ and Honey BBQ sauces but it was good. The honey mustard was good, too. The gravy needed something -- not sure if it was salt or just to have made sure the flour/roux was cooked through. My partner liked the mango habanero sauce, but I wasn't a fan. We also got a side of Mac & cheese and it was delicious -- reminded me of Panera's with the goopy creaminess but with more flavor. Next time we want to try the milkshakes! read more

I've been dying to try this place! Every time I pass it the drive thru line is in the street but today it wasn't so I took that as my chance to try it out! I waited in line for a total of 10 minutes and decided on the Chicken and Waffles! It was sooooo good! The chicken tenders were seasoned to perfection and the waffle was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I opted for an online order with curbside pickup. A lot of the staff were young, but I did not have any issues with my service at all. Despite it being newly opened (and the drive through being ridiculously long), my order was ready at the stated time. On to the meal...I ordered a 6 piece wing meal (hot) with a side of mac and cheese and a sweet tea. I also ordered a side of fried mushrooms and the strawberry cheesecake dessert. The wings clearly had absolutely no seasoning and were very lightly dipped in the "hot" sauce which was not hot AT ALL. My bottle of Frank's has more heat than those wings.. The tea was your basic sweet tea. The fried mushrooms were ok. And the cheesecake dessert was great. On to the mac and cheese (see picture below). As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with a warm welcome. We ordered pick up and the food was ready when we got there which was great. The food was average. I was expecting more based on what I have heard in the community. However it was a great meal. They have amazing sauces which are great. I love chicken and this got the job done. I've heard about this place and have been waiting for it to get up and running. I even waited longer for them to work any kinks out before going. When I went, I was leaving work around 9pm and I chose curbside on my phone. It tells me my order will be ready by 9:26pm. Ok cool. I finally find the parking for this on the other side of the building by the drive thru. It seemed like they were having a rough night and had to figure out peoples order. Staff was coming outside handling customers orders. At this time, I'm sitting in my car waiting and waiting some more. I called the store to ask if my order was ready and they said almost. I say ok and let them know I've been outside waiting. Another 10 min roll by and it is 9:36pm. My phone is about to die. 9:50pm rolls around and I can't take anymore. I pull up to the drive thru because I'm exhausted from working all day and my family needs to eat. My phone officially does in me. I pull up to the drive thru, give my name, and they hustle around to find my order. They finally find it and give it to me. No apology. I leave out looking forward to my food. I ordered the chicken tenders family meal. It came with fries. I also ordered a milk shake and a sandwich for myself. The milkshake has melted. The sandwich was subpar and the rest of the meal is hard and cold. The chicken tenders were small, and overcooked. I was highly disappointed by this place. Chick fil a is right across the way! I was so hopeful because the sign says made to order. They need to work on this location. People in this area are going to eat but you need to set yourselves apart from the others! Please avoid this place! I have been here 4 times. Each time, it has been hit or miss. Today was the day I decided NOT to ever come back (thanks -_-)! When I came today, I wanted to get a fried chicken wrap for myself and a fried chicken wrap for my girlfriend. I entered the line around 3PM today, and there were very few cars in the parking lot. As a result, I thought we would get great service...this could be nothing further from the truth. Initially, we were waiting for the electronic menu, but an employee came (out of nowhere) with a special pad to take the order. She asked me what I wanted, and I explained the first half of the order. She asked me if I wanted the wrap fried or grilled. I said fried ...I said this 2 times. I told her I wanted to get a fried chicken wrap, only. She then asked me what I wanted with my combo. At this moment, I, again, informed her that I didn't want a combo. She seemed very flustered and talked in a very thick Baltimore-type accent. No offense to folks from Bmore, but she was VERY hard to understand. Then, I decided it would be too hard for me to communicate the other half of my order. I asked her how many chicken tenders we could get in the different box sizes. She said, "1 or 2, probably". What!? After this interaction, I decided she lacked the training to even know the menu and I just decide to order the fried chicken wrap. We get to the window and get the bag. I tell my girlfriend to look in the bag, and we had received a grilled wrap with a bizarre hot sauce-bbq sauce mixture. What a terrible day! I was in the area and noticed a long line of cars in the drive thru at Slim Chickens so I decided to give it a try. It's looks to be a brand new restaurant in the Bowie area. I ordered the 8 piece wings dry because I wanted to try multiple sauces. The meal was served with fries and buttered bread and a drink for around $15.00. The wings were a nice size but completely lacked flavor(in other words no seasoning). I actually went home and added my own spices. I've had Slim Chickens twice, both times getting the 8 wings meal. I tried different wing flavors and sauces both times. Since it's a chicken place I'm knocking stars off for the taste of the wings. Mostly because the flavor was lacking on the actual wings, something I wouldn't expect for a restaurant specializing in chicken. The dipping sauces helped but the underlying flavor is deficient. Maybe next time I need to try one of the sandwiches or the tenders as I've seen from other reviews that people really like the flavor on those. The sides and the sweet tea are good though. So I have ordered a chicken sandwich, the tenders and wings. But I am cutting back on sauces so I ordered my meal with sauce on the side. The sandwich was ok. Out here in theses sandwich (wars) streets it wasn't anything special. But ok. The tenders are slightly better, but still not anything special. They tasted good, but like just about every other tender. Now the wings, cause a really good wing can make or break it for me. Again these were ordered naked with sauce on the side. The wings are fried no batter, no problem cause a good wing is a good wing. But no seasoning Big Problem. And without a crunchy batter to distract it was just bland. Now for the sauces. I might be the one for this since I cutting down my sauce consumption, but there nothing that I really wanted to try. Ate here for lunch. Ordered the 6 bbq wings with slaw. It came with fries, but I changes to slaw. When it was brought to the table it had fries. I told the associate I had ordered slaw and proceeded to show my receipt only to find it was rung up with fries. She told me not to worry and brought me slaw and left the fries with me. In general the quality at this place overall is typical of fast food restaurants in Central PG County. I visited this place a few times, one being during the grand opening week, with hopes that my impression would change. The food quality is inconsistent. Taste is good however is understandably fast food quality. As a chicken place I don't situate their chicken sandwiches or chicken tenders in the league with the best in the area. I've ordered chicken sandwiches, fries and chicken fingers however the experiences have been different almost every time. While I understand no two chicken patties or chicken fingers will be the same however on a few occasions I received chicken fingers that should have been classified as chicken nuggets considering their size in comparison to the bunch. I have an issue with restaurants serving chicken fingers less than the uniform size and counting them against the quantity determined for the entree. This has happened a couple times. Sometimes the breading on the chicken fingers and chicken sandwiches can be hit or miss. Customer service is most times zombie-ish, apathetic or borderline negligent. Nothing against young adult workers however I've been here multiple times and have noticed an overwhelming number of workers, who seem to be under the age of 20, working in comparison to more mature staff. The reason I bring this up is I attribute much of the customer service issues to young, inexperienced workers as this is probably entry-level employment for many of the staff. It is also part reason why I exercise a higher than normal level of patience when interacting with the staff I encounter. There were many instances where I was in the presence of staff either in the drive-thru, in the lobby or at the receiving window outside and staff were inattentive and had apathetic postures. The one thing I did enjoy was the Chicken and Mac & Cheese bowls. I've been here enough times that I am confident this is who they are. I'll treat it as a normal Central PG fast food chain in which I'll maintain low to moderate expectations. Give them a shot. read more
