I have a love-hate relationship with Slim Chickens. I do like the food for the most part. Both the bone-in wings and tenders are great as are the homemade sauces. The sides are middle of the road. The mac and cheese tastes identical to the Cracker Barrel's grocery store kind, we didn't love the okra, the potato salad is not our favorite, the fries are fine. The real reason it's a 3-star review is YOU HAVE TO CHECK YOUR ORDER. Every time we leave this place the order is wrong. I have been the only person in the drive-thru and my order was still wrong. We got a ton of wings to watch a sporting event and they gave us the wrong chicken and no sauces. The sauces you have to pay for individually. I was shorted like $12 worth of sauce. My recommendation is hold up the drive-thru line to double check them! read more

I had the salad with fried mushrooms. Lettuce was fresh and the mushrooms were flavorful. Great price and healthy portions. We saved room for the dessert jar! Oh my! The first time I went here I had an uncooked chicken sandwich from the drive-thru. So this time I went inside and got the hungry meal, raspberry lemonade and strawberry cheesecake in a jar. Once I had COLD fried food served to me in the drive through. I actually drive about half an hour to go into Sarasota to the BEST WINGS in the whole area, off of Bahia Vista , near Fruitville, called HCK chicken (Hot chicken kitchen), which serves HUGE , freshly cooked , hot, delicious WINGS etc. Nobody does it better than them. I have loved this place since it opened. The service is always stellar but today they went above and beyond. I arrived early and they came out and told me they didn't open for 20 mins but if I didn't mind waiting just a few they would go a head with my order. They took my order right way no wait with the best customer service and the food was hot and delicious. Came to the area for a soccer tournament and the team decided to eat here between games. We were a group of 20+ and they got all our orders not only correct but quick. Restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. We meet one of the owner, Tommy and he was extremely hospitable and gave each one of our players a brownie. So... the food isn't bad. Is it like Chik-Fila-A! Yeah... not so much but it pretty good! If it was the food and the speed of service, this would have been 4 stars. However, it's very much 2 stars for these reasons. First, when you get food to go, they hand you a table number. So, I had to ask what I'm supposed to do with it and where to go. I was told I just need to hang onto it and someone will find me, which they did as soon as I awkwardly fumbled with this number in one hand and filled my drink with the other. It would have been much better had they just had me wait at the register for that 60 seconds, hand the food to me, and continue to provide that same level of service to others getting their food to go. Second, when handed the food, I asked if there was ketchup in it (since I ordered fries), and was told there wasn't and she had to go back and get me four packets. I get to my car, and no napkins. Today I ordered and before I knew it my food was delivered before I could get my drink. Tenders are tough, Lukewarm as were the fries. Texas toast is a waste too. Barely warm. Sorry Slim but not what it used to be. Go back to the basics. Cost me $11.76 for 4 tenders and fries w a drink. Doubt if I'd come back. We've stopped visiting other fast food competitors since Slim's came into town because we know they can't live up to the standard that Slim Chickens delivers! Just opened this week. Clean, bright restaurant with drive thru. Placed an online order and was waiting when I arrived. Food was hot and delicious. Got a chicken spinach wrap with tenders in a bbq sauce. Large portion and a side of potato salad that one of the best in the area. Ordered a grilled chicken salad also. A very large salad with various greens, carrots, tomatoes, cheese and croutons. Had the cucumber removed. The spicy ranch dressing was very good. Salad had a lot of chicken, which is unusual in most salads. Prices are fair. Will definitely return. read more
