    Slims Wrap with grilled tenders
    Ronnie R.

I placed a mobile order the first time visiting this location. I can't verify the ambiance because we didn't go inside the restaurant. We were glad to see a drive-thru on a very chilly night. Even with a mobile order, we had to wait longer than expected. The service was okay. Thankfully, I checked the bag before we drove off. I realized some items were missing from the order, but we were able to get them. The food didn't taste bad. I expected more from the wings with this being a place that specializes in chicken. They were not tender & a little on the tough side. The Garlic Parm & Honey BBQ wings were flavored well tho. The grilled & fried tenders were flavored well also & thankfully very tender. Everything else we ordered was good. My son liked his Kids Mac. My daughter liked the Crispy Chicken Sandwich meal. I will definitely get the Slims Wrap with grilled tenders again. It was yummy. We plan to return to try other items on the menu. I've included a picture of our order for reference.

My first Slim Chickens experience consisted of a friend ordering and picking up some food for me for lunch. I tried the side salad and fried pickles and was pleasantly surprised by how good both of them were. I had been waiting to make my own official Slim Chickens debut. I downloaded the app, placed my order, and proceeded to head to the restaurant. That was probably the end of my positive experience. Upon arriving I waited in the dining area near the sign that said pick-up. Nobody greeted me upon my arrival. The inside was not crowded at all. I waited about ten minutes and watched as people ordered food at the register and received it before my to-go order placed before them. The drive thru also seemed to be moving people through faster. Once my order was completed I cringed as I watched the front cashier check my containers for accuracy with the same hands that had previously taken money from a customer. Because it had taken so long I grabbed my order and headed back to work. While in the car, I started to eat my fried mushrooms. They were ok. There was a nice crisp to them. But the flavor was a bit off. There was a hint of pickles as if they had all been fried together. But I also love their fried pickles, so it wasn't a huge deal. As I got towards the end of my order, I noticed some odd looking mushrooms and broke them apart. To my surprise, they were fried chicken pieces! I am a vegetarian and was completely disgusted that they can't manage to keep food items separate. I threw the rest away and ate my salad. This was not the experience I expected...needless to say I am not in a hurry to return. I submitted a survey to the restaurant and requested a response. I have yet to hear anything back. Pro-tip: Use my reference code MICCE23155 when you download the app!

A new chicken spot. Chik Fil A might have some competition. I enjoyed my crispy chicken sandwich next time I will probably add some lettuce and tomatoes it would be perfect. The fries were good and the customer service was also good. It was a clean place to sit eat and enjoy a quick bite.

Amazing flavor in this chicken! Great taste! And I love that they have fried okra. The garlic Parmesan sauce is really good.

After waiting a couple of weeks for the crowd to die down, I finally gave Slim Chickens a try. There wasn't a huge crowd on Sunday evening and the two lines helped to move things along. It is still a new establishment and I'd imagine they're finding their groove, possibly why I waited about 20 minutes in the drive thru with 10-15 cars ahead of me. Because of the newness, you can't order online or through the app from 4-11pm. So I was forced to wait in line. When they're out of the opening phase, this will be a nice option to use. Especially so you can rack up points through the app. As others have commented, they come to your windows with a tablet to help speed things along, similar to Chick-fil-A. I think part of the hold up is that because it's new, a lot of people ask questions or don't know what to order. It's helpful that there are QR codes to pull the menu up while you wait. Interestingly, they were bringing drinks out to cars waiting to approach the window to grab their meal. Didn't make a lot of sense to me (why not give me my drink at the window with my food?), but maybe it works for the employees to keep things moving inside. Prices are reasonable, and I decided to get the 3+3 so I could taste both wings and tenders. If you like sauce on your tenders, that's an option. You can also sub a different side for fries (some have an additional $1.99 price tag) and you can sub a milkshake for your fountain drink for an additional $1.99. I like having those options and I think the price to upgrade is reasonable. My food came out nice and hot - wings, fries, and tenders. The tenders were nice and crispy, they had a nice crunch. At first glance I thought the wings were too saucy, but they were fine as I ate them. I got mango habanero sauce and it was GOODT! Added a nice kick. The tenders and fries were overly salty for my taste, but otherwise good. Because of the saltiness I might try something different if I return, but I'd return at some point in the future.

So I decided to visit Slim Chickens and ordered the chicken and waffles. I asked for the chicken to be shaken in Buffalo sauce. Never in a million years did. I think they would put buffalo dipped chicken on top of a waffle. After I cut the pieces of the waffle out that had buffalo sauce on it, when syrup was actually applied, the waffle was pretty tasty. Light and crispy. The buffalo covered tenders were juicy and crispy....a little on the small side though. I will give him another try, but best believe I will not be ordering a waffle covered in Buffalo sauce. #explorepage #foodie #foodporn #instafood #foodstagram #buffalo #foodblogger #foodlover #keeppounding #foodgasm #instagood #foodiesofinstagram #foodpics #wings #followforfollow #GratuityAdded #foodlover #foodporn #tenders #waffle

I really like this establishment. Came in the evening and the next day for lunch. Able to go inside & drive-thru. Our food came out lightening quick when we got carry out from inside. It was hot. The wings are good size and the tenders have an EXCELLENT taste. The drive-thru is like a maze and you have to go one turn above to gain access. Makes sense to have an extended loop to avoid the traffic extending to the 485 exit. But it is tricky when you 1st go. They have a chik-fil-a approach with their drive thru that allows the line to move decently. I would recommend. It is new so everybody is going, so the line stays on smash. And especially if you're tasting for chicken on Sunday, with Chick-fil-A being closed, it will hit the spot

I finally made it to Slim Chickens and I will say that it lived up to my expectations and the hype everyone has made about it! The chicken tenders were fried perfectly and the wings were flavorful! I opted for the Garlic Parmesan wing flavor. It's located on Prosperity Ridge, just off of one of the roundabouts in the Prosperity/485 area. It's not too cluttered and there is plenty of parking available. There are also some other establishments being built/opened in the same plaza, which look to open soon. It was before the lunchtime rush of the day, so the drive-thru moved very quickly. The staff was helpful and nice as well. I would definitely recommend a visit! I'll be going back to sit on the patio and eat and to try one of the hotter heat sauces for the wings!

Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich with Mac and Cheese

Brand new chicken restaurant! Came here the day after their grand opening and it was packed! The drive thru line was crazy and the line to get food was about 40 minutes long. It went by quick because I was talking a lot and wasn't too hungry. The service was great and all of the employees were very nice! They gave everyone drawstring bags as we waited and checked on us a few times while eating. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich and a side of Mac and cheese. The price was good for a pretty big sandwich and a good size portion of Mac and cheese. The chicken was very flavorful and tender. The Mac and cheese was creamy but very cold by the time I got it. Overall, the food was great! I can't wait to come back and try the tenders, 17 types of sauces, and their milkshakes!

Great chicken strips! A light breading that doesn't take away from the taste of the chicken.

I went to Josh's Farmers market on a day I knew this truck would be there. IG pics looked great and I knew it was something my niece would enjoy. We arrived around 1pm on a Sunday afternoon and I just about stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the 30 or so people in line. However, we drove from Huntersville, and although it wasn't super far it was enough of a hassle that I didn't want to turn around and leave. So we waited. For. An. Hour. Plus. 15. Minutes. I was pretty annoyed because I had gone there somewhat hungry - silly me, not knowing how small the novelty waffles are. By the time we'd waited over an hour I also had an unhappy child who was hungry too. Finally just after 2:15 it was our turn to order. My niece wanted the original, she didn't want all the extra stuff. I wanted the Nutella/strawberry waffle and I kid you not.. they gave the last one to the woman who ordered before me. Unbelievable. I was too through.. and also by the time we got our order at about 2:30, we were starving and that little waffle did not do the job. They were tasty.. just know this is a treat, a dessert, not filling at all. I didn't expect it to be filling, I just expected them to be bigger. I do feel they are reasonably priced based on the size... but we stopped for pizza on the way home. There was one person taking orders and the other was making the orders. The woman making the orders could have used a hand. I can't understand why it took her so long to put 2-4 toppings on a waffle, but the order prep took forever. Keep this in mind if you visit .. be prepared to wait and eat a meal in advance. I'd try it again because the waffle was good, but I wouldn't wait an hour, it wasn't worth a wait that long IMO.

They have always had, in my estimation, the best French onion soup around and I was craving it, so off I went. The restaurant off East Boulevard is an eclectic sort of place, and in my memory the interior hasn't ever changed. The wood is dark, the tables a bit worn and packed together to give a slightly claustrophobic feel, and the decor is always vaguely counterculture. For people who like NoDa and Plaza Midwood (before its recent transformation), it's homey as can be. I enjoyed the familiarity of its unpretentious surroundings as I took a seat in a tiny corner booth. Delighted to note that the French onion soup is as delicious as ever, with a richly flavored broth and a generous amount of bread and cheese baked in. While the quality hasn't diminished, thank heavens, the size has gone from a bowl to a cup. As it was my upcharged side I didn't mind terribly but still. Alas. Kudos to the kitchen for letting me have my soup before my sandwich was delivered, but here is where things went a little south. I had ordered The Usual, one of their trademark dishes, a hot open-faced chicken salad sandwich on a baguette topped with asparagus, mushrooms and cheese. It too has been the victim of shrinkflation, about 2/3 as big as once it was. Again, didn't mind terribly much but the toppings themselves were scant: three small strips of jarred or canned asparagus, four slices of mushroom. Okay, everything is expensive these days, but the edges of the sandwich were burned and the filling was cool, meaning the salamander setting was off and no one checked it before sending it out or putting it down. I might have considered sending it back but that's when my server disappeared. My water glass sat empty for half my meal and was never refilled. Even paying the check was sluggish. So I give the current state 300 East a solid three with a disappointed sigh because they seem to be phoning it in. Really great French onion soup, though.

We finished our order and he then cancels the tip screen and I didn't know why. He asks if I want a receipt and I say sure. Then I notice that they have an automatic "service charge" of 15% that isn't advertised anywhere in the restaurant. I'm not necessarily against restaurants doing this but it should be advertised. Also, you should have service if you're going to charge a "service charge." Our service consisted of a counter order and then someone who eventually brought out our food. Water was never even refilled. Vibe of everyone that worked there was angry and aggravated. Multiple people scowled at me walking through the dining room from the kitchen. One worker threw open the kitchen door obviously pissed about something. Everyone in the restaurant was waiting forever for their food and other tables would have one entree come out while the other person at the table waited another 15 minutes for their food. Food was nothing special. My wife liked her Mother Earth bowl which is why I'm giving two stars. My chicken sandwich was something out of a frozen box. Hush puppies and onion rings were standard. We only had water to drink. All of this cost us $54.20 total. Anymore this feels like a standard experience in an American restaurant unless you do someplace high end. Ok food, terrible value, terrible service, and junk fees. Like they're doing you a favor just being there. All of this for a restaurant that, as the walls show, is trying to convince you to become vegan. This won't do it guys. Do better if you really care about bringing people to your cause.
