If you enjoy black nitro, like I do, Slowpokes is an excellent choice. The nitro was smooth and full of caffeine, which is exactly what I was seeking after eating a mammoth, carb-filled lunch. I was looking for coffee nearby and nitro was difficult to track down, for some reason. So many places seemed to have cold brew only, and why would anyone choose for just regular ol' cold brew, when a much better version of that is available in the form of nitro? I'd happily return to Slowpokes in the future for more than just coffee, but for now, I've established that the coffee checks the boxes. read more

What a cute coffee shop across levy park! The location is very prime for someone who wants to have a nice relaxing time catching up with friends and grabbing a coffee with a view of the park. The seating inside also seemed ample with outlets as well. I decided to try their lazy latte which is lavender and honey. Got it less sweet and it was perfect! My sister wanted to get the ube latte but at 11am on a Saturday morning they ran out of ube, so she tried the booberry seasonal latte (white mocha and blueberry). It tasted like a blueberry fruit/granola bar, which we thought was an interesting concept but she didn't enjoy it because she doesn't like fruit bars. Parking wasn't too bad - there's limited street parking and also garage parking. Make sure you ask the cashier for validation so your garage ticket can be free! read more

Chill coffee shop in Upper Kirby. You can park in the garage that's attached and asked for them to validate your parking after. The coffee shop was pretty spacious inside and has a few outdoor tables. It overlook Levy Park with a great view of nature. You can order at the front. Menu is on the wall. Staff were friendly and service were pretty quick. I ordered my favorite, a hot chai latte. It was served in a giant blue mug. The chai latte had just the right amount of spice to it. It was delish. Shoutout to Farrah, y'all! Always coming through with the most fabulous Elite Perks for the Squad! Had an opportunity to check out Slowpokes on yesterday, which was really amazing because I recently added it to my collection. Elite Yelpers were invited in to receive one complimentary seasonal coffee drink of choice and a churro donut! So kind. I went with the 12oz Iced Peppermint Mocha and it was pretty good, along with the churro donut. The staff is so sweet! I specifically asked for my baristas name so that I could mention her in this review and guess what? I didn't add it to my draft. Sorry! She was so great though. Customer service was phenomenal! Slowpokes is definitely a vibe and I will return. I ended up getting a water and she charged me 50 cents specifically so that I could leave a tip on my card. Very convenient. My first time and I've been meaning to come here forever!! First impression was great I sat in there for a while after I ate because I was so comfortable. I LOVED how nice and cold it was in there. It's way too hot outside and so many stores and restaurants aren't willing to turn the AC colder. If you get cold easy and plan to stay awhile maybe bring a light jacket though. I decided to take a chance and try their rose and pistachio latte. I can't say I could taste either flavor distinctively from each other and in general it was an average latte. I also tried the oh-one-eight flatbread and added roasted peppers and onions. I think it was a bit too greasy for me and just wasn't my taste but don't let it deter you I fully think it was just not for me it tasted fine. They also have loads of merchandise and drinks and pastries available at the front. When the weathers nicer you can sit outside as well! I look forward to being back soon and trying new items and maybe bringing something to work on and new people!! read more

This place is adorable with its turtles, sloths and other animals that crest a vibe of relaxed and taking the time to slow down. We are all so busy and this place reminds us to take it easy once in awhile! It's also very clean and there is a park outside to enjoy the weather too :) read more

This place has some pretty good coffee. Needed a morning pick me up, and this is the place we chose to try out. They definitely live up to their name, so if you're in a rush, this may not be the place to go to! They also serve craft beer here, which is really neat. Wow, what a great location for one of my fav coffee shops in all of Houston. This one is a bit more modern, doesn't have as much artwork on the walls, but it still serves the same great coffee and treats as the others. Lots of merchandise for sale, there is a shelf of various items while waiting in line to order. The artwork is actually plastered all over the restrooms though. I always like slowpokes because they have a good selection of lattes, not just "mocha, caramel and vanilla", but actually a whole section of the menu devoted to their custom latte creations, plus some seasonal lattes as well. I had the slowpoke wraps and although it was very delicious, I happened to find a piece of foil within my food. Unfortunately I had my wrap to go, otherwise I would have mentioned it to the staff on deck. So I hope that this review helps them become more meticulous in the preparation of food going forward. It sucks in this day and age age after Gordon Ramsey has trued to teach the world of food about freshness, consistency and general care for what you serve that a joint as honestly pricey as this, near all these law firms has trouble not just with consistency of food quality and portion size but level of salt on their food and general care. I feel like the food is semi carefully put together but ingredients are not checked for quality. The first time i came i had a DELICIOUS salad- the greek one, I believe its called the Athena, it had plenty of everything, including 4 or 5 slices of wet feta? The next time i ordered it with salmon it had 1 slices of cheese, and some older lettuce that I threw out. The next I ordered it with chicken it had a couple and only a little bit of greens..? Today I ordered this $11 dollar pesto chicken panino. It's small, it's salty very salty and the pesto was nowhere to be found. Comes with avocado, the avocado has brown spots that hadn't been removed. I don't know. I want to love it. It's right under my office so I NEED it to be good. But the reliability is not there. Their coffee are in a similar situation . One time i got a nice strong double shot delicious. Next time i got a bland cappuccino, barely there type coffee, watery. It's such a cool place. But I may be sticking to their coffee and "SINFULL" bars. They are natural and low sugar. Im not gonna lie, Im disappointed. :/ read more

It's a cute coffee shop in the Kirby area. I really love the decor of the cafe. Allows wifi access but it's spotty. It was hard to send pics via wifi when it comes to texting and would not allow me to connect to Spotify on my computer because of firewall restrictions. Never had this issue before anywhere else. The coffee is pretty pricey and I ordered a holiday drink and a matcha latte for the later evening I was there. They put it in a to-go cup, which I was a little disappointed because I love seeing the fun designs on my lattes when I hang at the coffee shop for hours. They only covered for 1 hr of parking because I still had to pay $9 out of pockets after being there for 5 hours. I was told they provided 3 hours of validated parking. But I ended up paying a little more than expected. read more

Very nice coffee shop in Houston! I came here back in the fall and got their "Boo"berry latte which was flavored with blueberry and cinnamon. My drink was amazing! Service was really good too, the girl at the counter helped me out with validating my parking in the garage. Ambiance was also nice, there aren't as many outlets as I would like, but I was able to be seated at a table where there were plenty of plugs for me to be able to spend a good 3 hours studying here. They have some beer in cans and on draft, wine, and lots of coffee drinks prepared a plethora of ways...except frozen blended thingies, that's okay 'cause they do everything else very well. They do breakfast and lunch stuff and sandwiches, the hummus with flatbread n celery n carrots n cucumber is very tasty, meat n cheese boards, empanadas....may need to try these.....flatbreads. I saw quite a good reviews about this place and saw it many times when I was at Levy park so I decided to stop by today for lunch. It's not a full service restaurant. The service was quite slow for just sandwiches. Jaydon the person who took our orders was nice and courteous but the lady with him wasn't too friendly. Food was definitely not a come back in the future for me. But our special coffee (blueberries and pumpkins) were good . Price wise was pricey and portions are small. Parking was a bit hectic. We drive to the parking garage but all the spaces stated reserved so we ended up exiting the garage and park outside. Lots of signs stating for the park only and can be towed if you are not going to the park which is ridiculous. read more

When I first walked in I was amazed how big the menu was. The workers were extremely friendly. I ordered Purple Yam affogato but was so sad because due to the weather and the hurricane power outage there was no ice cream available. The manager I assumed, insisted I pick whatever pastries and however many I would like. I grab their dulce de leche looking cookies which was very good! I also order a cali sandwich, BST sandwich, beef and chicken empanadas. The food was pretty decent for what it was. Overall a beautiful place with fantastic staff! read more

I really enjoyed the ambience of this coffee shop. It can get a little loud, but I liked how it is right across Levy Park. It is a good place to study/work, but you get a time limit of 2 hours of wifi on your receipt so it makes it difficult to stay working all day. Avocado Mash - delicious, crispy sourdough, the lemon pairs super well with the avocado Blueberry Latte - one of the current specialty drinks, I enjoyed it but it was a bit too sweet for me Ube Latte - I absolutely LOVE ube so I really liked this drink Chicken Pesto Panino - this was recommended by one of the staff, and I was not disappointed, would definitely order this again. Loved it, stopped by on a day at the park. Got a snickerdoodle coffee and it was great. Also tried the blueberry and Cheese Danish which was also great! For what it's worth they use sip lids that don't require straws, which I prefer also. Took our coffees to the park but there was plenty of seating inside and could even sit and bring your laptop if you wanted. They also have a rewards program, I think based on FiveStars, where you type in your number. Update: Came back the next weekend, had a pumpkin pie Latte which was so well balanced flavor wise, normally it's too sweet but honestly this one was just right. Hot Dog Wrap? Kolache? was also good. The weather was nice so we took advantage of the patio area this morning before heading to the dog park. read more

Extraordinary nitro cold brew; this month it's on a Kenyan peaberry bean just recently roasted (dates shown on bag label wow) which, being specifically Kenyan & peaberry for sure makes this the bougiest nitro I've had yet. It's sweeter, fruitier, richer & a bit more acidic, complex & easily tastes miles better than 95% of nitros I've ever had. It's amazing how having a fresh, proper roast of a highly desirable bean, especially on black nitro (no ice or filler junks) where the pure nitrogen creaminess (akin to steamed milk like ole) further accentuates delicate undertones not normally noted in side to side comparisons can make a noticeable difference. They rotate their cold brew bean monthly and validate parking if u park in garage above (don't park in front that's for park only). Love the bartenders too, very knowledgeable and helpful. The ambiance is stunning and relaxing too. There are some amazing food options like this Brie & ham croissant i snapped. Dog friendly! Look forward to popping in here whenever nearby! read more

Coffee: Got the Reese's latte, iced. Very good! A bit too sweet but I did order a sweet drink so that's on me. Service: Staff is very nice. Music: Not my cup of tea, just typical coffee house music. Parking: Garage parking. Slowpokes validates up to 3 hours, which is nice. WiFi: Good WiFi, but only allows access for 2 hours after the purchase of an item. Should at least be consistent with the 3 hour parking validation, I don't understand why they're different. Outlets: Not a ton, but was able to find one at one of the small high tables. If you get a seat close to the wall, there is a good chance you have an accessible outlier. Seating: Plenty of seating, high chairs are a bit uncomfortable. Food: Did not try any , so not included in my rating. Price: 5.75 for a regular specialty latte, pretty regular price. Nothing crazy Overall: Good coffee shop but probably not the best to work at. I have been to much better places to sit and work that don't limit WiFi access. :) read more

I've been going to this coffee shop for a while now, and I keep forgetting to write a review for here haha. This is hands down one of my favorite coffee shops to go to! The vibe here is perfect for studying or doing some sort of work. It's not too noisy but not too eerily quiet. The background noise is just enough and perfect for me. Parking here is a little difficult just because the parking out right in front of the shop itself is only for the park, and I believe they do tow if you park there to come to this coffee shop. Parking in the garage (attached to the place) is complimentary for 2 hours though! Just ask for the parking voucher at the cashier when you leave. There is free wifi here with any purchase. They require you to keep your receipt (or text the receipt to yourself) in order to enter your receipt # when you're trying to connect to the wifi. So just a heads up on that. They have mainly community tables, so it's great if you're here to study with 3-4 other people. I've tried their vanilla lattes and chai lattes. They're both super good! I tried the chai latte "extra dirty," which is adding an extra espresso shot if you need a little kick of energy. I've also tried their churros here, and I totally recommend them! They're so delicious and they're a good snack if you're craving something kinda small and sweet. read more

Came here Lunchtime on Thursday. Got the Pesto Sandwich with pretzel bun (image posted) Paired with Ghost of the Machine IPA. Popular and busy hour for this place. Twas loud to make calls (Logistic Sales here HMU If you're in the same space) so I prospected my afternoon here. Other than that, great location. Great ambiance. Great service. Does get too noisy to make calls, take meetings, etc. Great for popping on your headphones and slamming out busy work. Service: Emmanuel attended me and was exceptional. was really impressed with the food here! i ordered the chicken salad croissant but asked if they could put it in a wrap instead of bread.. it was so good. i am now in a wrap phase because of it. i had the lavender latte with oat milk, which was yummy, and i also ordered the ube affogato. i thought it only came with one scoop of ice cream, but it came with three, so i ended up putting it all in a togo cup to bring home. it did not disappoint. i love the location and atmosphere, the only complaint i have is about the parking situation. i was there for a couple hours and even though i had my parking validated, i still had to pay $3 even though i spent $30 at the coffee shop. either way, i'll still be back :) read more
