I go to slow pokes all the time. The food is great for a coffee shop and I usually get an ice vanilla latte- oat milk. I would recommend getting the breakfast biscuit, salmon bagel, chicken pesto panini or flat breads. Solid place to work with a laptop as well- only downside is you get 2 hours of WiFi access with purchase.

Drinks: hibiscus lemonade. Pretty and refreshing. Not a strong hibiscus flavor- fruity lemonade is the predominant flavor. Butter pecan Latte: aroma 10/10. Flavor was spot on. I like a different season flavor. Service: great assistance in choosing the seasonal latte. Friendly. Ambiance: I'm a fan of the decor- all things slow lol (turtles, sloths, snails). Urban but warm. Plenty of seating but is mostly communal. WiFi free for 2 hours w purchase

Love this location a little away from our home tucked into a strip center. This place had delicious smells of coffee as soon as you walked in the door . Tables had various board games on them such as chess Simpson edition, UNO and checkers for the littles.They even have wine and beer for the Bigs. Customer service was so friendly as we ordered some takeout wraps and were out quickly. They even have a walk up window and saw they giving pup cups for someone's furrbaby. Careful you don't miss it since only 1 entrance/ exit . Note: it is at the end of a small strip area so signage wasn't at end of street. Definately worth a return visit!

Came across this recently when just searching coffee places around the area so finally made it in. Was wanting the breakfast bagel, so that was the reason for the visit, more so than coffee. Butttt, it's a cute place to grab a coffee or drink and chill. They serve beer and wine also which I did not know. The bagel was delicious, definitely recommend and the coffee was good too. I'll definitely be back since it's in the area, chill vibe! For anyone working, they have little almost one seater type work stations which were all taken up, so great place to work and have your coffee.

So good had to come twice while on my short trip to Houston. Great mix of traditional drinks (cortados etc) and fancier drinks (breezy brew). If I lived in the area, I could definitely see myself coming often and working from here.

I love slowpokes! It's such a vibe. I will say if you're a coffee snob, their coffee is overexctracted and the milk is steamed improperly. I got the chicken pesto panino on a pretzel baguette and it was phenomenal!

Wow. It's affordable, high quality and a cozy feel. I accidentally forgot to say I wanted my latte iced. I asked for a cup of ice and they insisted to remake it so that the texture was consistent. The breakfast tacos are $3.50!! I ordered an ube latte on their curated latte menu

A go-to of mine when I'm in Houston, partially because it's convenient to where I stay and mostly because it's good and consistently good. They have a full coffee menu from basic drip to all the fancy things (+seasonal items), and good, quick breakfast. I like the tacos and salmon bagel a lot. They serve wine but I've never been here for anything other than coffee and breakfast items. The decor and atmosphere are adorable with tons of art and cool knick-knacks of slow paced animals... the sloth, snail, and turtle. The print of the sloth pole dancing is one of my favorites! There's a mixture of people in and out and some who are camped for several hours to work. They have board games for the kiddos (and adults, too) and a cute little vintage ride-on turtle for small ones. The staff at the register is happy to convert your dollar into quarters.

Cute little coffee shop cafe style serving a variety of coffee drinks and other beverages along with savory small bites whether it be breakfast or brunch there's something there for everyone! It's a cute breakfast spot if you're wanting good coffee and savory small bites for breakfast! Definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the spring branch area.

Definitely a good, chill neighborhood coffee shop. I got a bagel sandwich with lox and it was pretty good! Not the best I've ever had but very solid. The poor store had been broken into the morning I went, but the staff were still attentive and in a positive mood. My coffee drink was good and it was great vibes to read alone and enjoy my brunch. I haven't been at the bar at night but the bar area looked cool!

This was such a nice environment, it took us coming inside to catch on to their theme which was so cute and unique. My boyfriend and I played a game of chess and enjoyed the drinks, the reese's latte was my favorite. The person taking our order was helpful with the menu and was cracking jokes with us which was nice!

I'm literally writing this review as I am IN this place! This is a fairly new coffee shop but it also has adult options as well which is pretty neat. I came here with a friend to study at night so the area looked a little sketch but inside it's pretty hip with some nice upbeat music playing. I didn't know what to expect as I walked in nor did I know what to order so I asked the barista for her recommendations and she certainly knew her stuff. At first I was confident that I wanted the affogato with almond gelato (You could pick from three different flavors almond, chocolate, or vanilla) but as she went on to explain some other options and her personal favs it made me switch from the affogato to the peanut butter latte which is essentially a reeses' peanut butter cup! I also wanted a cookie with my drink because I heard the cookies were amazing here. So when I mentioned cookies her eyes lit up and I basically had to fasten my seatbelts for this because she was going to school me on their cookies! Basically their cookies aren't homemade but they get it from 3 other LOCAL bakeries which I was fine with. She said all of their cookies were amazing they have a homemade oreo cookie, chocolate chip cookie, snickerdoodle cookie, and her personal favorite was the potato chip cookie (sounds weird but I've had something similar to this in NYC and it's actually pretty damn good). I instantly got wowed and excited at the same time and I knew I wanted the potato chip cookie but sadly they ran out so I asked her to give me her next best cookie which was the homemade oreo. My friend got a caramel macchiato and a snickerdoole so I got to try his cookie as well. The oreo had a sea salt finish which played with the different notes of sweet and savory on your palate when eating it (10/10 would recommend). The peanut butter latte itself was very good if you love peanut butter, it tasted exactly like a reeses peanut butter cup without being too sweet! Overall, the entire experience was great and it was all thanks to the barista, Allison, so shout out to her in this post! She was very helpful and knowledgeable in helping us order. I would definitely come back here not only for the service but for the great drinks and cookies! P.S. The decor is social media worthy! read more

Pretty nifty low key place. Great for a post-dinner activity for a date night. Bartender was really nice, and there were some fun board games in there. Might've been a bit more fun if the decor and furniture was cozier, like chairs and couches, but space is limited, so the seating makes sense when it's too hot to go onto the patio. Wish there had been a low cost cheaper wine on the menu. The higher priced wine still wasn't the smoothest to me. But oh well. A good option for the neighborhood for a low key date night :) read more

The caramel macchiato was the best I've had over any coffee shop. Most places make it to where all the syrup stays at the bottom, not here! Was also advised to try one of the muffins. Although they gave me the wrong one, they still tasted yummy. I'll definitely return. read more

My sister and I were searching for a new cute coffee shop when we stumbled upon this place! The interior of the shop was so cute and had a lot of sloth, turtle, and snail decor! Which makes sense for their name. The baristas were very friendly to talk to and gave recommendations on their coffee flavours and house teas, as well as their snacks and entrees. The vibe of the place was very friendly and open, and they had large tables for a group of friends to play boardgames on (Which they also had available for anyone to play with on their shelf!). My sister and I got the Sugared Donut Grilled Cheese and Salmon Bagel respectively, both which were bomb. They have plenty of choices for food and drink, which my sister and I are hoping to try out next time we go again! read more

I love, love, love this place. It's a great neighbor establishment that offers delicious coffee and small bites. First of all, I love their simplistic yet modern decor. Secondly, their coffee is delicious. I loved my cafe breve. As for food, I'm a huge fan of their meat and cheese platter. I actually had the meat and cheese platter for lunch. Besides their great decor, food and drinks, Slowpokes is a great place to meet up with friends or business colleagues. Or just settle up solo into one of their cute booths for "me" time. They do have a good wine and beer selection. I have yet to try any of them. Maybe next time. read more

Great laid back atmosphere for any coffee outing. Lots of tables to work on. Free wifi. Outdoor patio has plenty of shade. Community tables for groups. Awesome people behind the counter. And c'mon... how could you not love that sloth?! Iced coffee is delish. Oh! And get the homemade Oreo cookie. You won't regret it. read more

Such a chill vibe here. One of my favorite spots in Houston to just slow down and get a good cup of joe. The staff is always warm and welcoming, kinda feels like a home away from home. The food is always delicious and they even have tasty gluten free options too (I recommend the Oh One Eight flatbread). Definitely 5 star worthy. I'll definitely be visiting again very soon :) read more

Love this place . Usually pretty busy and loud, so bring headphones. The croissant with ham and Brie with apple butter is SO GOOD. The caramel macchiato is amazing, tastes 100x better than Starbucks. Also the cookie with some pieces of potato chip is a great balance of sweet and salty. So happy this is in the neighborhood. read more

This place had plenty of parking. This vibe and decor were great. Service was stellar; I was told that the owner actually made me my drink. I had the hot caramel macchiato with almond milk, and it was excellent. Seating was plentiful and there were easy access outlets. I highly recommend, and will definitely be back. This place is super cool. Looks like the outside was recently remodeled, so there's no signage, but yes the brown building with all the cars is the right place! I had a pour over with the Nicaraguan roast and I loved the smoky, nutty flavors. Just the right amount of bitterness and it blended well into the other flavors. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they serve their food menu all day (breakfast tacos all day too!). Most coffee shops stop serving food after 2, but here you can eat everything their kitchen serves until they close at 10pm! I had the chicken pesto panino and I think Slowpokes may have stolen my heart for favorite coffee shop sandwich. It was a generous portion of chicken breast on a long sheet of pretzel bread, arugula, pesto and mozzarella. It was flavorful, not overly salty, and filling. The baristas really seem to enjoy their job and genuinely care about your feedback! About a 40 minute drive for me, but you can bet your ass I'll be back. I really need to move out of the suburbs.... read more

Slowpokes is very close to my house, and I really want to like it. But I don't. The music is nice. They charged me $6 for a small cup of tea. When I went for more hot water, I was told they don't do refills. I've been to tea houses and coffee shops around the world. This tea was good, but it wasn't that good. Go to Antidote or Boomtown. Much better places with better attitudes. read more

My son and I love Slowpokes! The food is fantastic in a charming and cozy atmosphere. The staff who work there are friendly, attentive, and always ready to answer questions and talk about coffee, food, and beer (maybe wine too, but I haven't asked ;) ). The customers are diverse: families, people studying, dates, or even just groups of 1 - probably looking for piece and quiet. I like their eco friendly style of coffee stirrers. Walking distance from my home and I'd be here a lot more if it weren't completely packed every time! When they first opened I'd go study for a few hours but these days can't really find a seat in the mornings. Still, great spot. I've been at night for wine dates and have had a great time. Their selection of teas are also on point. Glad to have this spot in the neighborhood and that it's not so much a hidden gem anymore, the word is definitely out. read more

I love a good coffee spot, and THIS is a coffee spot! They know coffee and it shows. I also had a bagel with salmon that was delicious. The service was fast and friendly and if I'm ever in the area I'm coming back. Great laid back neighborhood joint. Their coffee and food is excellent, just what this area needed! Had the salmon (everything) bagel and a cappuccino - both delicious - and my husband had the breakfast tacos which were equally good. Atmosphere is chill and there's plenty of seating indoors and out on their patio. Good place for breakfast or a glass of wine! read more

What did they do to this place?!?! They ripped the patio off!! There is a sign that says their will be exterior construction on April 9th so I'm hoping it's to replace the patio with a better one. This is a good place to study but honestly their food and tea is over priced for the quality served. I do love the theme though. Hope with these renovations they upgrade the quality of their food :) or lower the prices !!! read more

This is one of my favorite coffee shops because their coffee is absolutely delicious. So smooth and not too sweet like a lot of other places. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it always takes a long time and lately they have been getting some of the orders wrong. When they do get it right though its amazing! read more

Laid back and chill. Seating inside and outside. Wine and beer available and there are board games to borrow. Very unexpected based on the looks of the building it is housed in but easy to find with fun umbrellas on the patio. Didn't eat this time but the Malbec is good. read more

The place was pretty empty when we arrived with there being a small party at a table. Notables there were dirty plates left on a table for quite a bit. The bar tender was very friendly and makes a heck of a drink but as the evening progressed and more people arrived at the Cafe the service became extremely slowwww. This is also why tables weren't cleaned quickly. There needs to be atleast 2 personnel there. We showed up just a couple of minutes past 10pm to find active construction underway inside. There was a gentleman working on the flooring, furniture being disassembled and lots of construction equipment outside. The seeming owner or manager reassured us to come in, however as soon as we took a seat we learned that they closed at 10pm. Ironically there was a young man assembling a large sign that states "open until 10pm" to prop outside. The bartender offered to make us a drink and since we had driven here just for this spot (I would call it a coffee shop and not really a bar), we agreed. The Carajillos were $15 and sadly, batched. Disappointing for a cocktail with only about two ingredients. We asked if they could add an orange peel garnish but unfortunately they were out. Definitely a one and done. Will not be back.

I recently visited Slowpokes at 1203 W 34th St, and while the experience was a bit of a mixed bag, there were some highlights worth noting. The interior of the café is clean, modern, and has plenty of seating, which makes it an inviting space for either a solo coffee break or meeting with friends. Parking is convenient, with their own lot offering ample spaces, a big plus in Houston. However, my experience with the Purple Rain latte left much to be desired. The flavor was underwhelming--bland, with barely any noticeable Ube or vanilla flavors, leaving the latte with a light body that didn't stand out. The espresso, on the other hand, was quite good: bold and smooth, a redeeming quality for their coffee offerings. Unfortunately, the service at the counter wasn't as pleasant as I'd hoped. The cashier was indifferent and ignored my request for a dine-in mug, which was disappointing. By far my favorite coffee shop in a perfect location near the galleria mall! Why? The staff are ALL so kind, efficient, and welcoming everyday I come into the coffee shop. Talk about down to earth and. A great representation of Houston culture. I have tried the latte and lavender lemonade and enjoyed them both! I pretty consistent with my order, but others seem to enjoy their menu from food to wine! Love that the coffee shop is located fright across the street from a little park of you want to take a walk.
