I have been to Wicklow Heights a handful of times over the past year. They offer fancy cocktails in a laid back setting. They have a small indoor area and a huge outdoor area with couches and benches. The patio is great when the weather is nice, though they have fans and heaters depending on the season. The patio has a huge screen which is great for catching a game. At night, they turn the music up inside so it can be hard to have a conversation. The menu has a lot to offer. The bartenders are very friendly and make great drinks. I'm a fan of the variations on the classic G&T. On my last visit, I had an espresso martini and it was excellent! I was pleasantly surprised at how good they made it. I have yet to order a drink that I did not like. They have a small parking lot out front. There's also street parking. Given that it's near a few bars, parking can be difficult during peak times. Wicklow Heights is great for a stop on a bar crawl or for a chill afternoon with friends. read more

Visited for the first time for their Galentine's themed bingo night. It was super crowded when I had arrived around 6:30 so if you're trying to get a table I'd recommend coming suuuper early. They have happy hour until 7pm. The drinks weren't bad and I think they have a nice selection of cocktails to choose from. The rundown for bingo: It was supposed to start at 7pm, but I don't think we started until almost 7:30. Not sure if that's normal or if it was just that night. They'll make an announcement for you to go grab a bingo board from designated spots and it was quite a fight to get a board, which is one per person. I think we played a total of 5-6 rounds with breaks in between and each round is a different goal (e.g. regular bingo, making an X, blackout, etc) with a different prize and the prizes gradually get bigger. Since the tables were all full, lots of people were either sitting around the stage, or on the turf, or standing on the back patio. Parking was super crowded. They have a lot which was definitely filled so I had to resort to street/neighborhood parking. They made announcements that if you park at the establishment next door you WILL get towed (they had tow trucks coming in the whole night I feel) read more

I loved the vibe of this place. The drinks were delicious but the food truck outside did not serve good food. It was full of grease and didn't taste good, I only took a couple of bites and dumped the rest. The staff was really lively and nice. The bingo portion of the evening was a lot of fun, we were inside since the outside area was packed so we had a great time with the tables around us trying ro figure out which numbers were being called out! The Heights has no shortage of bars and pubs, but Wicklow sits further away from the usual crowd as a neat little house with comfortable benches in the back. The atmosphere feels lively and filled with patrons in their 20s/early 30s. I recently visited the place when my friends invited me to their free bingo nights on Thursdays. It's surprisingly fun! I used to consider it an old person game, but it offers quite the thrill when $25/50/100 gift cards are on the line. The benches fill up quickly during bingo nights; my group had to resort to the step seats. The Essence of Eden and Cucumber Collins both provide a light and refreshing take on alcohol. I couldn't find them on the menu but one of the servers knew what I was talking about. A bit on the pricey side -- the Cucumber Collins cost ~$10 each. I didn't have the Espresso Martini but my friends gave it their stamp of approval. Great place to gather and mingle around. The prices deter me a bit but it's a fun time nonetheless. read more

Wicklow is that little house tucked away off all the walkable bars and restaurants in the Heights like Bungalow, Cedar Creek, Drift, McIntyre's, etc. The parking is small, but there's a gravel lot across the street and parking next door at Cedar Creek. There's a small food truck outside for food options. Everything is QR code to order food. I've been here with friends, birthdays, and recently suggested this bar to one of my co-managers retiring who was looking for a chill HH place after her last day of work. She loved it, as well as the other managers and employees. We went on a Wednesday, which is their steak night for $25. You can't order anything else off the menu on that day. I had the ribeye with Brussels sprouts and Cajun potatoes. It had to have been a 12 oz ribeye, which I share half with another manager. I just wish they gave more sides proportionate to the meat. It was perfectly cooked medium, and the char from the grill was nice. You could tell it was topped with butter. A few of them saw what I ordered, and they were enticed to order one, too. Lol. I tend to lean towards gin drinks, and I like their Summer Fling cocktail and G+T which comes in what seems like a mini fish bowl glass. Two and a half of those will get me. Haha. I've also ordered green tea shots for a friend's birthday. I tried a rum drink for the first time. It was a specialty cocktail called Nice Melons which was created by one of the bartenders, and he happened to be there to make it for me. I quite enjoyed the pineapple and tropical flavors. It reminded me of rum punch I had in Turks and Caicos. They also have wine and mocktails which a few co-workers ordered. There's plenty of seating here. You can sit in the A/C at booths inside or stand at the standing tables. There are picnic tables and outdoor booth seating with fans blowing at the patio areas along the front, side, and back. My favorite is the multicolored heart wall that's inconspicuous from the outside. The only thing missing are swings. I won't hesitate to come back here for a drink or steak night. You can order a drink at the bar or find a seat where wait staff will find you. They use QR codes at the table (and there are even some random specials on there!). I came here on a Saturday early evening. This is a bar hoping area for sure, where essentially you could park/ride share here, and walk up and down 19th, bar to bar. It was Kentucky Derby weekend. We sat on the patio out back. The inside of bar is cute too. Nice large screen TV to enjoy a game. It started out with a small crowd but grew larger, as it got later in the evening. My pals and I enjoyed this place. It was our first stop of the night. Drinks-I had the Oaxaca Flocka. I enjoyed all of fruit/veg in my drink. It became a snack after I sipped, lol. Cucumber, jalapeño, strawberries with the Tajin. I wish it was a larger size cocktail, but no complaints. My friends seemed to enjoy their cocktails as well. When I'm in the mood for a good cocktail paired with a great patio, Wicklow Heights is one of my top choices. Located in the Greater Heights area, this is one of the first bars on the east side of the strip of bars along that street. The parking lot is pretty spacious but at peak times, you might find yourself trying to find a spot along the street. Wicklow has that charm to it. It looks like a house turned neighborhood bar. The inside is small with limited seating, but they have a decent sized outdoor patio that basically wraps around the bar with lots of tables are chairs. They also have a small stage, though I've never seen it in use. They also have a large screen set up for the hot games of the day. Drinks wise, their menu isn't all that huge, but what they do offer, they do it well. I've had a little bit of everything here from cocktails to beers. I can honestly say, I have not had anything I really don't like. They do have a food truck outside, which is what I believe is the source of their food menu. They have your everyday, bar type food. Nothing to write home about. Overall, this is one of my favorite spots in the area. I will definitely be back! read more

Really enjoyed coming here for happy hour! They have $8 cocktails until 6pm on weekdays which worked out well for my friend and I! We received great service - it was a quiet afternoon and we had plenty of great seating to choose from. I got the Better Half and it was beautiful and tasty - not too sweet and had a great floral flavor from the lavender bitters. They are currently renovating their bathroom area but what's nice is that you could pop across the way to use the other bar's bathroom if you didn't want to use the portable toilet. Wicklow Heights is the perfect place for meeting friends for a drink, going on a date, or bringing your dog. The place is small compared to many other bars around, but I wouldn't say it ever feels crowded or too much. There is a back area that has turf, a big screen, and many tables that are shaded (that can fit large groups as well). Wicklow might be the priciest on this side of the heights, but the drinks and service have always been supurb. I would compare it to Heights Beir Garten, but quicker service. Located in the Heights neighborhood, it's got interesting cocktails/drinks, a large bright outside seating setting, and a taco truck out front. All things that make Houston pretty dope! Drinks are a bit pricy so choose wisely. I enjoyed the Oaxaca Flocka cocktail due to the taste of the strawberry which complements the lime/jalapeño combo garnish. The Gardeners daughter is ok but not one of my favorites: kinda plain with just vodka, syrup, lemon juice, and basil garnish. I wanted the When Doves Cry cocktail but they were out of the jalapeño infused tequila sadly. The outdoor seating is inviting and colorful with lots of chairs/tables and fans. Also a large screen tv for events which makes this a social gathering spot waiting to pop although that may wait due to COVID-19. For eats, they have the taco planet food truck out front and they'll bring the food to you which is cool. They have no menus so use your phone to browse and find what you want. Servers/bartenders are getting used to this new method so it may take a while before you can put in your drink order. Hopefully they'll figure it out. I have been to Wicklow Heights two or three times over the years. Twice in the evening on the weekend and once on a weekday. They're totally different experiences. Wicklow is a bar in The Heights that has its own parking lot. At peak hours, it can fill up but you can find street parking close by too. I'll talk about both experiences. A weekday experience for happy hour was a great time. I came on a Monday so there was barely anyone there. They don't have food so this is a drinks-only type of spot. You can sit inside in the trendy interior where there's a long bar at the end of the bar. Wicklow has a lot of interesting cocktails including a couple that are partnerships with Juiceland. Fresh juices incorporated into craft cocktails?! Sign me up! They also have a large patio if that's more your thing. When I stopped by on the weekend, it was a different experience because it was packed. Wicklow is one of those spots where if it is congested, you're going to wait a long time for your drink. They do have waiters at peak hours in addition to the bartenders but it only does so much. read more

The outdoor area I think is the winner - twinkling lights, lawn bench/chair seating, and a small dj stage (plus you can see all the doggies). The service here was lacking. Parking is on the street or neighborhood and people I know have been towed so I took an Uber to/from. Nice place to watch the Astros game! I saw this place advertised on Facebook for having a World Series Watch Party and the turnout was great! There was plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors with at least one of multiple TVs in sight to watch the game. We snagged a spot at the bar and were greeted by a friendly bartender. Service was great all night long. I'd recommend getting one of their daily specials or a Houston beer. The mojitos were solid! They let us order our own food from Uber Eats which was cool. They are dog friendly so be sure to take your fur babies along with you. They do not serve food but do have a food truck that arrives at 8pm. We showed up for a friends' birthday party with our two sons (both under 3 years old) and were quickly turned away in a very unfriendly manner by the manager. We respect if there is a 21+ policy. However, we checked the website before going there with our sons, and no where does it state that children are not allowed. There are several kid friendly bars in this area, so we thought it was the same case here. Furthermore, there is no one carding at the door checking if people inside are in fact 21+. We asked the manager to please update the website so that they reflect this and his rude attitude was very unpleasant. He was not interested in our feedback or request. Bingo night was being held in the back patio area and it was pretty nice. They have outdoor lighting and plenty of picnic style benches that seat about 8 average size adults, each. The Bingo was a bit lame. The had a total of 6 games with 30 min. intervals between each game. They had prizes like a Jim Bean and Karbach Brewing swag bags for the 1st three prizes. First time coming to WH and I am not disappointed. AT ALL. Service is immaculate. Especially during covid times! They aren't letting anyone order at the bar. You must be seated and a server will come to you and take your order. In my opinion it is much safer that way. Also the servers are constantly checking up on you and making sure you are okay or if you are needing something else. I ordered a water to drink in between drinks and every time a server noticed it was low they would right away fill it up. Far East was my favorite drink out of Love Child, Ranch Water and the Frose. Their busboy is amazing!! I noticed how hard working he is. Any dirty or empty cup, he was right there to right away keep the area clean. One of my new favorite bars!! My friend and I were originally planning on going to a bar on Washington Ave, but seeing the long lines and packed crowds (nobody wearing masks or social distancing), we quickly ditched that idea and headed to the Heights. After a few unsuccessful attempts of finding another bar, we stumbled upon Wicklow Heights and it did not disappoint! This awesome watering hole had a spacious outdoor patio with a live DJ, friendly bartenders (shoutout to Will and Rustyn!), cute decor, and delicious drinks. It definitely felt like fate when I found out the espresso martini I was craving that night miraculously happened to be their featured February drink of the month. So delicious! I have to say though, the best part of this bar is how dog friendly it is. On top of allowing pups at the bar, Wicklow Heights hosts adoption events and donates $1 to local dog charities for every Tito's drink sold on a Sunday. I can always get behind drinking for a good cause and really appreciate them doing this. My friend and I loved the bar so much, we were already talking about making plans to come back and day drink next Sunday. See you then, WH! We came on Saturday evening in search of Yoyo's hotdog. Unfortunately they were not there that night. However we found this great bar with an awesome patio. The patio had lots of tables and a nice TV/ projector to watch the Astros game. It reminded me of a bar that would be in Austin down Rainey street except a bit nicer. The only downside is that if you sit outside or inside you have to order at the bar and take your drinks to your table (I found this weird since they had cocktail waitresses). Very cute and clean bar in the heights! Found this bar when we were driving around to find parking at Cedar Creek. We were intrigued what this bar was and decided to stop in to check it out. We are glad we did because this place is great! Definitely gives me a Rainey St feel to it which is what made it even better. The inside is pretty small but the outside patio is great! They have picnic tables, fake grass and a couple of games such as corn hole. They also have a massive TV screen which was playing the basketball while we were there. Overall this is a great bar if you are looking for a chill night! The drinks are definitely not cheap, but I guess that is the norm in the heights. I definitely recommend coming to this bar between 9pm-11pm as I found those are it's peak hours. read more
