    Crispy Chicken Sub (large)
    Hannah W.

I've lived in the city for years and have always wanted to check this place out. Very clean upon entrance. We ordered food to go and waited, not the fastest service. Subs were mediocre. Hopefully I'll enjoy the pizza better next time.

And we got the regular amount of pepperoni, not extra. Not good enough. Extra means exactly what it sounds like. Not regular. & not for $18.

On this past day of Thu., 30 July, 2020 at approx. 6:05PM -E.s.t-, my elderly friend and I had called Slugger's to place a takeaway order for a large pie. She wanted extra cheese, I wanted extra pepperoni and extra sauce. I had specified exactly what I wanted very clearly over the phone, and the order was promptly handled. I had been told on the phone that the order would take approx. 40min. till delivery. To my friend's and my pleasure, the order was approx. ten min. early, so I had gone downstairs to meet the delivery lady by the entrance to my bldg. I had paid her the Mount due for the large pie, which amounted to $18.00+, and proceeded back upstairs to dine. Upon my friend and I revealing the contents of the nice hot box, I had taken keen note of a few details. 1) No extra sauce 2) No extra peoperoni There was however a little bit of extra cheese on it which looked OK, but would have preferred a bit more, considering I had specified extra of everything, that included. I had called the establishment, and spoke to the manager, and had very politely let her know that there wasn't what I had specified on the pie. The lady knows me by name, as I am a traditional, frequent (before the pandemic) and a valued customer, since 2005. Her response was: "NO Andrew, I promise you that I did put extra sauce and extra pepperoni on the pie..." The reason why I'm annoyed is bec. the employee had promised me that she had put the extras into my order, when I clearly saw no extras on there. And that is one of the reasons why I am unable and unwilling to trust practically anybody. And when I am charged the exorbitant fee for a pizza pie of over $18.00, I fully expect--as a valued customer to see exactly what I ordered. I'm not interested in promises, handshakes, or word-of-mouth! And nor am I interested in being given some type of a confrontational attitude or double-talk like I'm dealing with an arrogant social worker when I raise an issue with a manager or another employee of an establishment about a clear discrepancy with my order. And that right there would be a strong signal for me to not return to that establishment. Although overall I was happy with the taste and temp of the pie this past evening I was anything but pleased with the arrogance and denial which I had experienced. Let me be very clear on this point... I am not a ten year old child. I am an adult man who is alert and educated enough, and who has the discernment to gauge the amount of food or material on a product(s). This is clearly one of those occasions where the cusromer was clearly right. Just a little critique for the management of Slugger's on the customer service thingy... In the future, when a customer calls with a concern about the quality of what you sell them, it is incumbant upon you to arrive at a plan to either replace the product, or issue a refund. Not to make promises that you were positive you had done yer job right. Because my photos tell a different story, altogether. So... in reality, the job wasn't done right. Im sure I shall return in the future but... not for a long time. Not impressed. Charge for a service? Deliver. End of story.

    Chicken Tenders

While Sluggers admittedly looks a little sketch from the outside, the pizza that is offered up inside is sooo worth it to stop in! It was our first night in Lancaster and we were looking for something within walking distance of our AirBnB that was suitable for a variety of differing palettes. The menu is basic pizza shop-subs, pizza, and fried foods dominate the menu. There are a couple of tables inside, but this is mostly a takeout and delivery operation. Staff was friendly and very vigilant when anyone attempted to enter without a mask (which, unfortunately, happened at least 4-5 times while we were there). When I saw they had buffalo chicken pizza, I knew I had to try it. I convinced my spice-averse Mom to go in on it with me, while I ordered my son chicken tenders (which, of course, he barely touched). The chicken tenders portion was large and was very hot on arrival. My picky son ate some of the chicken that I separated from the breading. On to the highlight of the meal, the buffalo chicken pizza! If you are spice-averse, do not worry; it's really not that spicy. We say my mom is "born to be mild" and she could handle it like a pro. The toppings were delicious and well spread across the entire pizza. All the slices were also cut equally so there were really no outliers in monstrous size pieces or teeny tiny pieces. The crust was DELICIOUS! I normally don't even eat crust but this was light, crisp, and airy and worth finishing! The pizza also heated up well in the oven the next day for lunch-always a bonus! I'd definitely suggest Sluggers for pizza if you are in the area and looking for a yummy pie!

What a gem! It was our anniversary and we were treated like VIPs…read more.. Erin, thank you for serving us with a warmth, kindness, professionalism and a smile. Isaiah, your generosity and hospitality made the night memorable, along with your knowledge and expertise... The "My Chareau-da" (clever) was perfection. And to end the meal with the absolutely perfect sip, Dopo Teatro Vermouth Amaro, made it an extra special ending to our anniversary dinner. Chef and team: How could I forget to mention the food?! The Burrata small plate got us started (so good... we wanted to lick the pesto right off the plate), followed by The Luca Chicken (tasty, though you have to work a bit to get every bit of juicy meat off the bone) and Hanger Steak (medium rare, thank you... perfect), followed by an affogato (so smooth) and the delicious dessert you see in the photo (can't remember what it was called, but they boasted about the Lancaster strawberries). Great from start to finish! Worth noting: We felt GREAT afterward and the next day, a true test of good, real food. No bloating, etc. Last note: It can get loud, but it wasn't over the top. This is the sign of people having a good time!

Luca is definitely a restaurant I would encourage to visit, especially during the summertime. The…read moreplace is pretty spacious and also a cute place that has patio, bar, general seating and an upstairs seating. When the weather is nice they can open up sliding garage type door. The dinner menu is pretty straight forward with small plates, pasta, and wood burning oven dishes. I've been there twice, the first time I tried the BRANZINO that is wood-grilled and roasted, butter sauce, Arbequina olive 'condita' with soft herbs, baby fennel, garlic mustards, earl's spinach. I thought it was a 3 star dish because it was tough with some of the extra bones. The second time I went with the pasta TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE hand cut tagliatelle, classic ragù bolognese, grana padano cheese. For sure a 5 star dish. Both times they had a good wine list to choose from. Service was prompt and friendly that made the experience more enjoyable. Luca is definitely a place to visit and I would come back again.
