Store was ok but what really made my visit wonderful was going through Yuri's line. He greater me with a big smile and warm welcome. I've been to many smart and final markets and they've all been excellent and this one was no different. My first time walking in there just stepped inside for some fruit and ended up buying everything from poultry, to paper plates, dairy,bulk, you name it. Everything was neat and nicely organized. The fruit was fresh, didn't expect anything less even the flowers seemed hand picked fresh from today! The customer service was excellent I asked a bunch of questions about their dairy to one of its employees and he seemed very friendly and indeed very helpful. The checkout was fast and friendly. I thought this smart and final was ok, it doesn't really have great deals on anything. I can't really see myself doing any major shopping here do to the limited choices they provide. I will be sticking with going to pavilions and Costco for my shopping. read more

Dissapointing almost all the time. Meat department is lacking variety in cuts and sizes. Out of Ad items often. Lines are usually long. Good beer prices and frozen department is usually in stock. Need to fix the meat department though. read more

Disgusting. Frozen goods, meat, dairy, wine left out too long in heat and on loading docks and purchased for profit by Smart & Final to re-sale to their customers at a "deal." Other stores won't accept these items for sale (which is why the store has the word "Final" in it. The "Smart" in it is for the upper management who laugh all the way to the bank.). The place stinks of bad food. We have bought bad food here several times when we so wanted to give it a second and third and fourth chance. No more. Food no one else will sell is sold here. I live in the immediate neighborhood and the place is a lie. People drive in from further away places just to get the cheap, rotten deals here. Locals rarely shop here unless it's for non-food items or because they are buying for parties and don't care about the quality-they just care about "the deal." I came here for to get some meat and when I got home I opened up the package and it was completely spoiled. So I went back and asked for the manager and he was rude and insensitive saying to me "what do you want?" I couldn't believe someone would be so disrespectful to me. Worst customer service ever specially management. Busy mother don't have time to be shopping around I live down the street so easy for me to just shop at this location, gone in several times since it opened mostly in the afternoons it seems management is the worst at night. I've had minor problems with the same supervisor who has rang me up couple of times, i try to do small talk with her ignores me has an attitude towards customers and her employees never goes up to the front when her cashiers call her comes up after several calls! while she's down the aisles chatting all googly eyes or on her phone with her other supervisor and manager whom I spoke to already he apologized and tried to give me a 10$ coupon. I started to shop in the mornings when my kids are in school so much different I'm greeted with kindness and smiles all the employees are delightful and helpful. One occasion saw two employees down the freezer aisle whom were working on prices I asked if they could checked for an item that they didn't have on stock Luis was quick to go in the back to check while i stayed and chatted with this very sweet young girl asking me how my morning was going. When I went to check out sue a regular cashier was there asked her to speak to her supervisor wanted them to know what a wonderful job they were doing both shelena and Luis came up quickly but only spoke to Luis who to my surprised is the assistant manager he thanked me for going out of my way on complementing his employees. Produce is the best in morning too I talked to their produce manager great guy helpful in every way. Definitely recommend shopping in the mornings unless you like being treated impolitely go at night. read more

Shopping at this Smart and Final is no better or worse than the other Smart and Finals. Never enough registers open in the middle of the day. I would give it 3 stars for average. My 1 star is for the rude man at the receiving dock. This is one of the few stores that takes recyclable CRV bottles. Both times, Jose has been very rude. First time I waited almost 15 minutes for him to finish his other tasks and write out a voucher, which took him all of 45 seconds. My bottles were bagged and counted, in clear bags. All he had to do was take them from me and fill out the voucher. Today, he was even more rude and just argued with me why he couldn't now and I just had to wait. It took him more time to argue with me than to take care of me. He said, "I'm the customer, not you! I'm buying from you." I just left. Obviously, that's what he wanted, he probably hates his job, and having to deal with people. Only reason I go to this S&F is the other S&F don't take bottles. I have been a regular customer at Ralph's (the store it was before smart and final took over). I even worked there for 2 years as a courtesy clerk. I was having high hopes for the stores grand opening. Unfortunately my hopes fell flat. While they are very well stocked and have a nice layout, the checkout stands are a nightmare. Just standing there in the line after 15 minutes is enough to drive anyone crazy. A snail could move faster than they did. Then again it's understandable because they just recently opened up, but that doesn't mean they should have lackluster service. They should be prepared for the oncoming crowds of people. I went there tonight to pick up a few general groceries, and when one of the clerks pulled me over to her checkstand, she didn't greet me nor smile at me in a friendly way. It made me feel like I was a burden to be at her check stand. At the end of the transaction, she didn't even thank me or wish me a good evening! Just a sour attitude and facial expression to match it. Talk about crappy training. I will definitely be limiting my trips to this store. read more

Let me start off by saying that the customer service is really friendly and polite. I stopped in on a Sunday night to do some quick shopping for the kids in the morning for school. I wasn't too impressed, the products didn't seem appetizing or too fresh. It definitely isn't Albertsons or Pavilions. The prices are ok, not overpriced. I mean, if you're in the area and you need something quick, this is okay, but I wouldn't do my regular grocery shopping here. read more

On a positive note, this store is a lot cleaner than the old Ralphs they replaced. If you visit you might want to wear your winter wear...my fingers were numb cold and red by the time I hit the checkout line however another customer commented out loud asking and they said they are working on fixing that. I'm headed back only to return my moldy green sour cream that I bought today. I had a few items on my list and most of the items they don't even carry. Not much Organic meats to choose from and the Organic apples were so old you could squeeze it like a sponge. If you need baby powder or body care products they don't carry it and if you do see what your looking for your lucky. Smart & Final, I see a need for this area to have a full grocery store where you can get all your needs in one place. I understand the size of this store is smaller than your Lake Forest Store but because I can't get everything I need in one stop I will continue to go elsewhere. read more

When making a purchase I had forgotten my $10 coupon incentive and asked if I could come by to redeem it after the purchase. this was at the Smart and Final on El Toro. The employee at this store kept me on hold over the phone when I called for over a minute to check with manager approval. When she came back to the phone she didn't say thank you for waiting(had no common courtesy or customer service) and said to come back tomorrow to see the other manager in order to redeem the coupon incentive! Never again will I shop at this smart and final on El Toro in Lake Forest CA...not a SMART move therefore my FINAL decision is not to shop there anymore ... Thumbs down on customer service On the other hand this Smart and Final Store on Trabuco Rd in Mission Viejo didn't hesitate and had me come to the store that evening to redeem the $10 coupon incentive. It was Crystal who had helped us and she was very pleasant and had the customer service skills unlike the employee at the El Toro store. And we went in and used our incentive coupon that evening!
