This has to be the worst company I have ever had service something at my house. We have a dishwasher that needed repair. They have been here no less than 5 times and every time they have some excuse why they have to leave 10 minutes later and don't have the right parts. We even had the his truck broke down excuse on visit five so we cannot come today. Yesterday was supposed to be the "Absolute for sure" last visit and "your dishwasher will be fully functioning". Wrong!! They are fully incompetent and we are now going on 3 months of them wasting our time!! ( every time they come out and leave you have to wait two weeks)!! They also leave huge messes that they do not clean up! Stay away from this horrendous company!! read more

I placed a claim with Sears Home Warranty for repair of my refrigerator as it had stopped cooling completely. Sears assigned SmartChoice Appliance, and a couple of days later a service technician came to my home. After inspecting the refrigerator the technician (name unknown) stated he was not sure what the problem was, but the compressor was not getting electricity from the mother board. He said that he would submit a report to Sears Home Warranty recommending a replacement for the motherboard, and hopefully that would take care of it. During his examination of my refrigerator he asked if there had been any power outages. I replied there had, but that was about two weeks prior to my refrigerator stopping. The technician left my house without supplying me with a report of his visit. There was NO RECORD that he had been here, and he did not give me the opportunity to dispute his findings. A couple of days later I was contacted by Sears Home Warranty that my claim had been denied based on the technicians report that there had been a power outage and a surge had caused the refrigerator to stop cooling. I called Sears to inquire and they said they had to go by his report and could not change their denial of my claim. The Warranty did indeed state that power outages and surges were not covered, but any reasonable and prudent person would perceive from that that the damage to the appliance would be immediate, not two weeks later. I've contacted SmartChoice Appliance on two occasions to speak with a supervisor and they have not returned my call. I have just cancelled my Home Warranty with Sears, and do not recommend either Sears or SmartChoice Appliance for service. This is certainly not the way to treat consumers/customers/and warranty holders. Paying $600 per year for the Sears Home Warranty and receiving this kind of treatment is unacceptable. read more

The technical named Mark (Vladimir) came to my house twice to fix it. He is a very kind and responsible guy. He did his job very well. I am editing this review because I have now had Paul, from Smart Choice Appliance, come by a fourth time for the same dishwasher that is still not fixed. Paul was rude and uncommunicative because he was upset that we needed him to come back and I guess he did not want to. However, the dishwasher was still not working and we hired him to fix the dishwasher. His guess that it was a plumbing issue on his last visit did not pan out, and the dishwasher was free-standing in the kitchen and uninstalled. He said it was maybe an issue with the installation but he was the one who uninstalled it and we needed him to reinstall it properly. He was visibly angry to have to come out again and would not say anything to me. After completing the work ( we still do not have a working dishwasher) he peeled out of our home and spend through the driveway, almost colliding with our neighbor, an old lady who was driving through our 1-lane street. She broke her wrist and was shaking and nauseous from the impact of having to slam the breaks for Paul. At this point, they have wasted our time, terrorized our neighbor and been extremely rude and yet have not fixed anything. We have had 4 visits and had one part replaced. They are impossible to reach. Their phone lines consistently go to VM and I finally got through to someone and they put me on hold and hung up on me. Paul came out 2 times over 2-3 weeks ( no working dishwasher). The first time he diagnosed the issue and ordered the part. I called Smart choice after the part had been ordered to ask when we could expect to have it fixed. I couldn't get through for a long time. Finally, I did speak to someone. They told me the part was set to arrive the coming MONDAY. I said great! since it's hard to get through, let's schedule service now while I have you on the phone for TUESDAY after the part arrives. They said they couldn't schedule service until the part arrives but assured me that they would be able to come by as soon as the part arrived within a day or so. Monday came and went and I tried numerous times to reach them - nothing but VM each time. I called my home warranty company who tried - they too got VM. I finally got a text with a scheduled time for the following Saturday - which is extremely frustrating. Would I use them again? no. read more

The technician called several shops to find right parts and gave me a reasonable quote. The repair cost was a lot lower then what I thought. I was referred to this company through my Home Warranty. I told them that I had a Kenmore Elite and the code that it was showing. I had researched the problem. The filter was fine, the problem was the drain pump. I offered to send a photo of the Serial Number/ Model and was told that they would need to come and diagnose it themselves. I asked that IF he found the problem WAS the drain pump, would he have the part on his truck. I was told that would be another call. 5-6 days later after they order it. I had to honor the appointment because I had paid through my Warranty company the service charge. I took a day off of work. Viktor came, walked in at 2:22. Did all the same things I had explained on the phone, verified it was the common OE code and said yes it's the drain pump. I asked if he could change the pump. I was then told THEY DIDN'T HAVE KENMORE PARTS. THEY ONLY HAD LG PARTS. My question was if they knew it was a Kenmore, why did they say they could fix it? I should not be told that I have to have my warranty "checked" - they were SENT BY the warranty company! This is not a PPO where you need prior authorization. Carry the parts, do your job and do not expect customers to wait 7 days for you to return. 2:33- Viktor did tell me at 2:33 (10 minutes total time spent in my house on this call) that he would go to his truck and check to see if he had a part that would work and call me from his truck. And then he left. And of course, called from his truck to tell me that he did not have the replacement part. I could hear his turn signal in the background which if it was not so maddening, I would have laughed. He turned that into the quickest exit ever. It did come off as "trying to help" until I heard the turn signal..... If the dispatcher had listened and heard KENMORE, I would not have had to write this review. All of this could have been avoided. read more
