UPDATE: AC is fixed! Fan and motor were repaired. No box upgrade. On 4/14 -FAHW's contractor relations dept told me they had spoken to SmartChoice & they were now claiming the upgrade was for my box being out of code. I had a claim specialist from FAHW on the phone who could not explain what was out of code with my box, only that my warranty will cover $250 of the upgrade per my contract re code violations, and I had to agree to pay $124 or else the fan repair could not be scheduled. 3-way-called SmartChoice and was eventually connected with supervisor Sophia after a back and forth with Oscar. Sophia was apologetic about my experience & explained the upgrade was recommended by the tech due to code concerns. I looked up code(NEC 440.10 and 440.14) and went down the list of criteria for acu disconnect boxes while I had both on the phone and she could not definitively say how my box was out of code and only that the upgrade was a recommendation they made to my warranty company, not a REQUIREMENT. She stated that FAHW insisted on classifying the upgrade as required, SmartChoice did not & that they were fine repairing just the condenser fan. She stated that before she could schedule the technician to return to complete the fan repair, I would need to remove my review. I told her I would not and asked if that means she would not schedule the repair? She stated that what I posted was untrue as they have tried to help move the repair along. I reiterated I would not and that I was careful to only include factual details in my review. I asked again, "so the repair will not be scheduled if I don't remove my review?" She said she would schedule it, but would appreciate my cooperation. (That'd be a violation of California Civil Code § 1670.8 if she didn't) Their tech, Gerard, was scheduled to return to my home on 4/15. He began replacing the condenser fan motor and explained the fan itself was rusted and he would need to return 4/16 to complete repair. I was able to meet Gerard on 4/16 and asked him why an upgrade to a fusible disconnect box was included in his report that was sent to my warranty company/FAHW. He said he did not recommend it be upgraded and that he might have noted the box is loose and missing screws. (The box is not loose nor is it missing screws from what I saw). I told him that I went on my roof to verify it was a fusible box and that it was up to code. He said there may have been miscommunication with what he reported because there was another call that day that had melted fuses in their box. $379 bc of a miscommunication is WILD. update to 2 stars since the repairs completed. Original: 1 star review Tech reported to my home warranty company that my disconnect needed to be upgraded to a fusible one and advised I would need to pay $379 out of pocket for the upgrade before they would repair my condenser fan on my ac unit. I went on my roof to the ac unit and confirmed my unit has a fusible disconnect box. The tech removed the pull out from my disconnect box and seemingly tried to hide it under my solar panels. The SmartChoice rep, Oscar, claims that the upgrade is only recommended, however cannot explain why since I already have a fusible disconnect box. Since that's what was reported to my warranty company (FIRST American Home Warranty), my Warranty company needs them to explain why the upgrade was reported as needed and Oscar keeps placing them on hold and not returning. read more

Smartchoice Appliance, LLC does not even deserve (1) star!!! This company was sent to us as an affiliate of Cinch Home Services, and Sears Home warranty....VERY DISAPPOINTED! Our refrigerator claim was made back in April, 2022 and continued until we no longer could babysit our appliance any more and had to buy a new one, Labor Day! The service we received was a huge disappointment as the technician could not diagnose or fix the issues we were having with water leakage, temp control, freezer freezing shut, and our food in the top part freezing and had to be thrown away. $$$ were spent on good food that froze and needed to be tossed in the trash. Weeks/months went by to "piece meal" parts and the service tech coming back and forth for over 6-8 visits to our house. Not only was it inconvenient but the parts they were trying to put in were "defective" old "used parts" and did not fit into our model or make. This happened more than once and I even had to track down a part ordered by them to get it installed sooner than later, but again it was not the right part or was broken. We depended on your company to fix this in a timely manner. You did not and it cost us a lot of money for a new refrigerator, which we could not afford at this time. I feel theses companies have taken advantage of us as seniors who count on and pay the warranty to fix or repair our appliances. We also rely on your statement of offering "satisfactory customer service", which is missing and obsolete. I had a terrible experience with SmartChoice Service, the company American Home Insurance Warranty hired to diagnose my AC unit. The technician was extremely unprofessional, dismissive, and rude throughout the visit. He spent less than five minutes at my home and appeared more interested in taking pictures than actually diagnosing the problem. He did not properly inspect the system by turning on the unit, testing wiring, checking components, or performing any meaningful troubleshooting before determining the cause of the failure. After feeling uncomfortable with the quality of the inspection, I requested a second opinion. The difference was shocking. The technician from the second company spent 3 to 4 hours thoroughly diagnosing the issue, running the system, monitoring its operation, testing components, and ensuring an accurate evaluation. Their report was detailed, professional, and comprehensive. Paying $92 for a service call and receiving less than five minutes of effort is completely unacceptable. This was one of the worst service experiences I have ever had through an insurance warranty provider. I strongly recommend avoiding SmartChoice Service. If your home warranty or insurance company assigns them to your claim, insist on a second opinion before accepting their diagnosis. i wish i could give them zero however i don't have that choice so sad. this company should be shut down for good, so sad there are so many fake reviews here which hurts the new customers. this company was sent to my property by my home warranty and they completely ruined my appointment and money. my dishwasher had not been washing dishes , leaving the soap everywhere and i had to run it many times causing me to pay a high electric and water bill. they came two people among which one was scary looking guy with no badge and uniform. they took all the dishes out of my dishwasher left in the counter and the started a training session in some other language doing nothing else, spent two hours talking and left my house saying nothing is wrong with the dishwasher? they left the dishes just like that in the counter. i called my home warranty company who sent another company and the dish washer was replaced. i have permanently banned them from even appearing around my property read more

I called SmartChoice first thing Monday to service my fridge. I cleaned the coils the previous day with no luck. I didn't think I would get someone the same day but they asked if it was an emergency. It was an emergency since all my frozen meat was starting to thaw out. They scheduled an appointment for later in the evening. The survey tech named Bogdan showed up and was great. He gave an explanation of his entire process and the problem with my compressor. Unfortunately, the cost to replace the compressor/motherboard was similar to the cost of a new fridge. He cleaned the coils professionally to try and give the fridge a few more days of life until I purchase a new fridge. He also gave me recommendations on preferred brands and ones to avoid based on his repair experience. I will highly recommend SmartChoice to friends and family! Unfortunately our relatively new gas dryer, which we had in a location in our house designed to accommodate this new dryer (and washer). Both new appliances they have been working very well until.....the dryer conked out and quit operating. We tried very hard to get it going, but the controls would only work to a point, then electronic went...blaaaaa, no response. So vik.kosshevoy was appointed to fix the machine. The parts (electronic) were ordered in a reasonable time and Vic came to our house, reviewed the situation, determined the problem, removed the old control and replaced with new electronic parts. Bogdan, the technician that repaired our washing machine far surpassed my expectations. On his first visit to diagnose the problem he took the time to explain why the agitator wasn't working correctly and what would be involved to repair the machine. Once we had received the parts from the manufacturer Bogdan returned and repaired the washer. He was the best technician that I have encountered having a number of products repaired over the years. Our Samsung electric dryer stopped working. We were put in contact with Smartchoice HVAC and Appliance and were able to schedule an appointment for the next morning. We were notified via text Eugene (with a photo) was on his way and he arrived promptly. Eugene is a very kind and polite gentleman. He took the time to explain what happened and what he was going to do to resolve the problem. He also explained about yearly dryer and refrigerator maintenance. I am not sure how this crappy company is getting so many positive reviews...STRANGE. I had actually BANNED this company from even entering my property  as they had ruined my microwave claim. They somehow managed to enter my hose again when I had issue with my dryer. My dryer was  not drying at all and was making very LOUD noise which all my neighbors could hear. This scary looking guy from this company came and said that there is no problem at all and reported to my warranty company. Later my dryer blasted almost set my house on fire. My home warranty contracted with Smartchoice Services for my oven repair on 8/5/26. Yuri was my technician and he was on time and professional. He completed the job within 30 minutes and took the time to explain what the issue was. The heating element in my oven was not working correctly and my oven was dropping about 200 degrees whenever we used it. He explained it was only providing 2.8 power when it should have been 3.4 power and that it was taking 2 to 3 minutes for the gas to come on. Since the repair my oven has been working properly. My home warranty contracted with them again for my leaking AC and I am currently going through that process now. read more

They showed up very late and came with another person without badge a scary looking guy. They did nothing but were talking to each other, wasted my 2 hours , came with DIRTY BOOTIES , I had to clean my house with BLEACH FOR TWO HOURS AFTER THEY LEFT. Even though this supply chain issue delayed my repair for a couple of weeks. Oscar and Max always answered the phone when I called, were extremely polite and always tried to have an up to date answer for me. However, the best thing is their Technician Bogdan. our oven got weird problem with the ingniter if you turning on one switch for one burner all the 4 burners ignitinig and doesn't works properly because there is fire coming up from the burner instead it won't stop making sounds like it keeps turning on even if you don't turn it on.
