Items are more pricey than the big chain stores but it's okay because when I need something in a pinch, this shop is perfect. On another occasion, I stopped in for a specific type of birthday card that they didn't have when I eyed the Chinese New Year red envelopes. The price? A couple dollars for one. Yikes! Parking is generally easy and free. The staff is friendly and helpful. Please support this local business. Go in and browse the goodies here.

They have journals, planners, planner refills, Crane stationery, and a selection of fine gift wrap. You can find Claire Fontaine and Rhodia products here, as well as a few European and Japanese brands. I can usually find what I need here without assistance, so I don't really have much of an opinion about the customer service except to say that it's not exceptionally warm personalities at the register. This isn't important to me, but if it is for you, this is not a place where the staff will hold your hand or check on you actively. Still a solid little neighborhood stationery store, and very different in terms of stock and character from its sister store in Berkeley's Elmwood Neighborhood (I shop both).

I really appreciated thorough explanation as my son tries out many different ergonomic chairs at the store. We previously tried inexpensive (depending on personal definitions) ergonomic chairs sold through Amazon, etc. We learned that these so called ergonomic chairs sold at Amazon and other equivalent stores aren't that great for us with backpain. You know those arrive in pieces in a box for customers to assemble, hopefully correctly and have all the pieces arrived to assemble. This Relax the Back store has many different ranges of ergonomic chairs for people in different sizes, back pain issues, and preferences. We liked the ergonomic chair my son picked after trying out many and listening to the store manager's detailed explanation. Highly recommend this place rather than just buying one to assemble and try out only to find out that I need a better ergonomic chair.

After the funeral and the mourning period, it was on to the search for a high quality replacement. I did online research and found that the Back Saver company is gone and so LifeForm seems to be the only game in town now. I did a lot of research with the rep from LifeForm via email and phone calls but ultimately, you gotta sit in the chair to know for sure. So I went to the Relax The Back store. Kevin helped me with the purchase and he was able to show me the chairs and knew the product pretty well. There was another guy there who knew the things Kevin did not. There were multiple floor models and so I was able to really nail down the chair I wanted. That's important because LifeForm has A LOT of options. The store was clean and fresh and they had what I needed to make my decision. I only gave 4 stars because the store visit was not perfect. There were several broken chairs on the floor. They looked fine but their mechanisms had problems. Also, Kevin dropped the F-bomb on the phone, which is highly unprofessional. Otherwise, working with Relax The Back was as expected. They came by and looked and told us it was a bigger problem they could not fix and would send us a quote. The quote included several pieces of equipment that were priced 2-5x retail. The raised price also covers our regular remote network maintenance, ensuring your network continuously runs at peak performance following the conclusion of the project. A large portion of business model is our post-install support and efforts to create peace of mind for our clientele regarding our systems." However on that quote was also a $70/mo service plan that was supposed to cover the aforementioned post-install support. I asked about the double charge for support and asked if I could bring my own equipment and they ignored my email So this company is SUPER SHADY and please review your quotes and google any equipment that they tell you that you need because 1. you probably don't need it (we ended up fixing the internet ourselves) and 2. they are probably overcharging you. Just run the quote through Claude or ChatGPT and ask if there's anything concerning in it. It will do all the research for you.
