Tried this restaurant with my teenage son a couple of weeks ago. Not bad. The positives are the burgers and milkshakes are very good as well as the service. The food came out quick bit maybe because we were the only dinners at 7pm on a Tuesday night. The burgers came out greasy and the fries came out cold. The restaurant smells greasy and looks like it could use a good overhaul cleaning.. The server was friendly and the order came out right. I wish I could give this place a higher rating. The food is pretty good and reasonably priced. The staff though is horrible. They are either rude and act like they don't want to help you or want to be there or they are nice but the order is wrong. I've noticed there are consistently dirtier tables than there a way people in here, which is usually not many no matter what time I go . I tried to go during lunch time one day but the line was almost out the door. Came back a few days later. I thought having someone at the door with a menu was a good idea. I ordered the Spicy Baja burger, regular, with fries. First of all, the fries were really good! You don't need ketchup or mustard. They were fresh and hot! The burger was good, spicy, and the perfect size. I don't like to be bloated after i eat lunch. I guess some reviewers on here have a larger waistline than me. I wish I could rate it more than a 5. The food is phenomenal. The egg bun that lay on the patty totally complements the flavor of the burger. I got 2 burgers and fries. After my first burger I was so full but needed more of this savory, delicious burger. My stomach is so happy. I highly, highly recommend smash burger. The employees are so friendly and nice. They are very helpful with everything. Not only at this location is the food amazing but at any other it's the same. If u want to go to a great fast food place, this is the one. I guarantee you will love it. All the food at smash burger is great, not just the burgers. I do really like the grilled chicken. Very flavorful. I wanted to like this place. It has such promise. The burgers on the menu sound so good. And fries tossed in rosemary, olive oil, and garlic? Yes, please! I ordered a "big" smash, because I am a big man. And I suppose from directly overhead it would look pretty big. From the side, it would make a Wendy's beef patty look plump and juicy by comparison. I'm not sure it had any more meat than a Wendy's patty. I am also not sure if it could have been pressed any thinner than it was. The thing about "smashing" a burger on the grill is that you shouldn't do it. Squeezing the juices out of beef leads to a dry burger. To compensate, Smashburger fries their burgers in butter. It certainly keeps them from being dry, I'll give them that. But as I sat there eating my butter burger, my circulatory system threatened to mutiny if I ate another one, and I think I should listen to what it says. Too bad, because I did actually enjoy eating it. Also the Smashfries were delicious, but I'm not sure I even got a full potato worth. They were, at least, not too expensive. The burger, on the other hand? Like I said, I enjoyed eating it. But not for the price they're asking. Double up on that patty and we'll talk. Excited to try a new place with the wife for lunch, lets try smashburger!!!...Walk in, check out the menu 2 people in front of us...seating area was mostly dead. We quickly figure out what we want and were next in line. The person in front of us was obviously there for there first time and was not sure of how to order or what was included etc (as we would have been) they only had one register running which was no big deal. We could not believe how rude the 'order taker' was being to the person in front of us, she must of rolled her eyes 5 or 6 times, and taken as many deep breathes in disgust and had no patience whatsoever, way to treat your customers smashburger. i love the food at smashburger. it's a casual dining restaurant- burgers, chix sandwiches, salads, shakes- but the food is really good. they are occasionally inconsistent - i have had a dry burger or an over cooked burger - but that's unusual. i love the grilled chicken sandwich and the haystack onions. staff is nice and the place is clean. read more

It's very rare that I review a place three times (actually, I think this might be the first), even moreso when said place is a typical chain food fare sort of joint. So hey, congrats to Smashburger for getting my personal "First to Review 3x" badge. As you can see from my previous reviews, I've *really* tried to give Smashburger the benefit of the doubt. When they first opened, I figured it was just a crazy overpriced burger chain trying to cash in on the "burgermania" that seems to be sweeping the nation lately. I was on a diet around the time I wrote that, and I can only guess that the lack of salt and meat running through my veins led me to believe it was actually at least halfway decent. A few months later, I tried it again and was a little disappointed by what I got for my money, swearing to myself that I'll probably never come back. But I did come back. I was about to go on a ~5 hour road trip for the holidays, was in a rush, it was on the way, and most importantly - I was too lazy to detour even a fraction of a mile to go elsewhere. The place was pretty busy, but there wasn't much of a line. That's where most of the good things ended. When I went to order, the girl working the register was *super* curt. I get it, she was probably all "holiday'ed out" much like myself, but she made it super apparent that she either hated being there, or hated my face; I couldn't tell which, possibly both. I ordered the standard "smashburger" this time around, figuring I'd see how their signature burger tasted. Forgetting my own advice, I went once again for the "big" size for an extra buck / buck and a half more. For a side, I threw in some of those rosemary fries. All said and done, well over $10 again, bringing me into the realm of diner / actual restaurant prices. The food came out quickly, and I can officially say after taking the first bite that I am utterly through coming here. Salty doesn't even begin to describe my burger, and I'm a guy who frequently quaffs "Salty Lassi's" and "Ayran" at Indian / Pakistani restaurants, so I don't usually mind salt. This burger tasted like meat that was soaked in butter for about a day, squeezed out, thrown into the salt jar, shaken off, and then pressed into the grill until it was hockey puck'ed (well done, kinda dry). Once again, my burger vs my friend's (who got the regular size) was practically identical, making the "big" size absolutely pointless, and the fries were pretty so-so this time around, missing a lot of the oil / rosemary flavor I'd come to expect. Maybe my taste buds were burnt off by my "Dead Seas" burger, I don't know. He got the "veggie fries" with his, which weren't really anything great - literally just a bunch of carrots and string beans that were dunked into the fryer for a few seconds and then doused with more salt. The only positive thing I can say is that they keep it pretty clean, and the food came out pretty quick. With Red Robin opening literally next door, there's honestly no real good reason I can think of to come here, unless you think spending restaurant prices for tiny, thin, overcooked, and incredibly salty burgers is a good idea. Just got food from here and I am livid, so much so that I made an account just to write this review. I have had Smash Burger before, and it was fine, dare I say above average. Today though, I am disgusted. I ordered their only vegetarian option, a black bean burger with avacado. On it though, was bacon, which I unfortunately did not notice until after having a few bites. This happens to be the worst smashburger I have ever been to. We were created by the rudest server at the cash register. While trying to find a place to sit, every tables was filthy. Two out of our 6 meals were wrong, with no apologies for the cashiers mistake. After spending close to $50, we will definitely not be returning to this location. read more

Order was not correct. Missing items. Served on a dirty plate and had to send back. One other time they served a milkshake w a napkin lodged in the bottom of the glass. If they could work out their kinks the food is good. They have good attitudes when trying to make it right. We keep hoping it will be better the next time we go. I was there at the Brick location 2 days ago....ordered the bacon Cheeseburger & Avocado Club Burger bother Very enjoyable....the Olive oil Rosemary fries & fried Pickles were a nice touch also quick service at rush hour was nice too,.....personally I like their thinner burgers easier to eat,...all fresh ingredients inside & each roll was a different style, Brioche, Multigrain, etc ,too made for a lunch we really enjoyed. This was my first time at a smashburger and my experience at the Brick location was very good. First off, the place is super clean, that always gives you a good feeling. The staff was also very friendly and hopeful, more outgoing than other fast food/fast casual places I have frequented. The burgers were brought to our table and when I asked for mayo it was brought to me seconds later. They also clear your food when you are finished. I will definitely be back. read more

I understand they changed the menu, but the burger I always got was no longer available as well as the fried pickles. Two of the items I came in for. We got Smash fries which the girl laid down on top of the burgers face down in the bag. By the time I got home the olive oil ran all over the burger boxes, soaked the bag & made a wet spot on my car seat. The fries were raw. Besides the raw potato taste, you can visually tell by the opaque color and how they bent in half like a horseshoe. We didn't eat them and threw them out. We had no issue with the two burgers. With all of the places to get a burger in Brick, it will be a long time before I go back. I am not one to complain and this is probably my first complaint about any restaurant in close to 10 years. read more

I love these burgers and the gourmet style fries...people complain about the price but its meant to be a step up from BK or McDonalds I personally think McDonald's is wayyyyy overpriced for that garbage they're selling! Smashburger is like the Chipolte of burgers they are so juicy!!! After hearing only rave reviews from friends and coworkers, my husband, daughter and I decided to give Smashburger a try. We didn't try it the week or even the week after it opened figuring that we'd give the restaurant some time to work any kinks out. I ordered the Classic Smash. When it arrived the meat was so thin it had fallen apart and off the bun. My option then was to eat it with a fork or pick chunks up with my fingers. I didn't add any salt or pepper to the burger. I didn't order a soda or tea or anything to drink with it. The burger in my opinion was so salty that it was completely inedible. My daughter (age 4) had a kids meal cheeseburger. After one bite she said that it was peppery. Not believing her I tried a piece and it was incredibly peppery. She also did not like the fries that came with her burger. To be fair, she's not usually interested in eating fries, and usually asks for veggies or fruit instead which Smashburger does not do. My husband ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger. He said that it was tasty, but extremely greasy and not a lot of burger. He felt that he was paying more for the bun than the actual meat. Total paid: $27. Was it expensive? Yes. We visited Smashburger in Brick, NJ for the first time last night. My wife was excited to try it, but I have been turned off by their TV ad full of hipster doofuses saying stupid things. I do love a good burger, though. We got there just before 5pm, so it wasn't too crowded yet. There was nobody there to greet us, and the cashier seemed completely uninterested in helping us or even smiling. I ordered the basic bacon cheeseburger, along with an order of shoestring fries (not the smashfries, which apparently are tossed in olive oil and rosemary). My wife ordered the spicy avocado black bean burger and fries. We both ordered regular drinks. There is a fountain drink machine that serves Coke products. For dine-in customers, the cashier gives you a numbered placard to put on your table and they bring your order out to you when it's ready. We only waited a few minutes before the cashier brought our order. She just put them on the table and walked away. When I said "thank you" she halfheartedly called back "enjoy your meal." Nobody ever came by to check on us as we ate. I bring this up because, on the company's online survey, they ask if anyone checked on you. My cheeseburger was a joke. It was practically dwarfed by the roll. It was topped with a slice of cheese and two sad little pieces of shriveled up bacon. It also had a slice of red onion (nice touch), and ketchup and mustard. The inside was dry and gray. Here's a tip, Smashburger. Consider foregoing your policy of "smashing" the patties on the fryer. It pushes the juices out of the meat and causes it to dry out. My wife's black bean burger was horrendous. She took two bites before giving up on it, taking the lettuce and avocado off (which were very fresh) and eating them like a salad. I tried a bite of the burger and had to spit it out into a napkin. I'm no vegetarian, but I like veggie burgers. This one was bland and had a sickening texture which caused me to gag a bit. The fries were tasty, but shoestring fries aren't a good value, especially when considering competitors like Red Robin (endless steak fries) and 5 Guys (they drop extra fries into the bag on top of the ones in the cup) give you much more for your money. When we got up to leave, none of the staff patrolling the dining area said anything to us. Again, just really lousy customer service. The whole experience cost me $22 and 45 minutes of time I'll never get back. The interior of the place is nice, but due to the poor customer service, it just feels empty, dreary and soulless. A Red Robin is being built next door to this location, and they are just going to destroy Smashburger. I predict Smashburger will close this location within 12 months of Red Robin opening. read more
