I don't get it. These burgers are bad. Compared to a 5 Guys burger. 5 Guys is 10 times better. My burger was dry, fries cold. I think it was precooked. Put in a pan and heated up when ordered. Serious integration after. Everybody has different taste. Not for me. read more

Tried Smashburger after reading other reviews here. I like the variety on the menu including the option for a smaller size, but was disappointed with an unexceptional burger - rather dry. The multigrain bun was also dry, and I didn't have enough avocado on my avocado club. I was very happy with the smash fries - so different than others with the olive oil and rosemary - and the haystack onions were good as well. Service was very good - the gentleman taking our order was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. I'd give it a second shot before deciding to knock it off the list. read more

I'm a longtime smashburger fan and I actually drove over 30 min just to get smashburger because I haven't had it in a long time. Once I arrived I walked in and was instantly told in a very rude manner that I had to leave unless I had a face mask. This was extremely confusing to me because I saw plenty of people in the indoor dining area that were not wearing masks because they were eating. I would completely understand if they asked me to wear a mask because they weren't offering indoor dining but if they are allowing people to eat inside without masks then it doesn't really make sense to require people to wear masks to enter if they're only going to take them off to eat. Not only did they turn away my service, they did so in a rather rude and unprofessional manner and I was thoroughly disappointed to see one of my favorite burger places being ran in such an illogical and unreasonable way. I like smash burger but if I have to choose I will always go to five guys, it just I think it is very oily and price are pretty high for the burger. I think maybe the burger meat is not well season it just something about the burger it's not as tasty as other burger join. read more

I was happy to hear Smashburger has a veggie burger! They have the avocado ranch black bean burger or you can customize your own black bean burger. On a Friday lunch it took about 8 minutes to get a to-go meal here. Overall, I didn't like the burger too much. Avocado ranch black bean burger - 3/5 - The burger's patty:bread:veggies ratio was off. The patty was too thick and it was large enough that it stuck out of the burger on the ends. It was too hard to eat the burger without the patty falling off the sides. Most veggie burgers are hard to eat without making a complete mess. This was definitely one of them. - However, the patty did not fall apart as I ate it as some veggie patties have been known to do, which was a definite plus. - The patty did lack flavor. Usually most veggie patties have other random vegetables in them. This one was all black bean. My sister and I both commented that the patty made the burger taste very Mexican-y...like this patty belongs in a burrito or something. - I also thought that there was not enough ranch on the burger. I added ketchup to it to add more flavor. - OVERALL, I thought the burger lacked flavor and had too much patty in it, but it was very filling. Fries - 4/5 My sister and I were not able to finish a large fries after eating our burgers. We should have gotten a regular size. The fries were good when warm, but got chewy as they cooled down. Strawberry shake - 2/5 The shake was sooo sweet. Too sweet to finish without feeling sick to your stomach. I thought about adding milk to it since we were eating our food at home, but I got lazy and ended up throwing it out. The cost of both the avocado ranch black bean burger and a customized black bean burger is $5.66. But, if you try to customize your own black bean burger and add the items that the avocado ranch burger already comes with it, it will cost extra. Let me explain. If you add sliced avocado to a regular burger, it will cost you an extra $1.30. And it will cost an extra $0.30 for cheese. But the avocado ranch burger already comes with these items. read more

Husband stopped her to pick is up dinner one night. So I didn't see the inside but the food was decent, well what stayed in the bag. The bag was so greasy on the bottom that everything fell through the bottom. We lost both fries but luckily the burgers were wrapped. They were decent but honestly 5 guys is better. read more

Visited the other evening and the place was fairly busy. I like how they cook your food after your order so I give them just a slight step up from the 'normal' fast food joints. The service was ok and usually friendly. This is a burger joint. What your order is going to have grease associated with it. The burgers are good, not special, but good. The sides are fried and if you are into fried foods, then your going to be ok eating here. You basically get what you pay for. read more

Tonight the wife and I tried to "treat" ourselves to a good meal for dinner, while the trick-or- treaters went door-to-door getting as much candy as they could. Since my wife was told by friends that SmashBurger was soooo good, and it was better than Rockwell, we decided to see if it was true. The menu had a good variety of items to choose from. For burgers, you have the choice of either a 1/3 pound burger or a 1/2 pound burger. You order your meal at the counter, then they give you a number and they bring it to your table. I chose the 1/2 lb. All American and my wife chose the 1/3 lb. Classic and we shared a side of regular fries. The patty was definitely "smashed". It was very thin. Not what I expected from a 1/2 lb. burger. I typically eat the 1/2 lb. Chili's Bacon Cheese Burger, or Rockwell's "Instant Vintage". If you like thin burgers, then you might like this burger. I tend to favor a thick juicy burger myself. The burgers came with mustard and ketchup on it, which my wife didn't care for. She never eats mustard on her burger. The burger was pretty messy and my wife struggled to keep it assembled as she ate it. My burger was moist, but I couldn't tell if it was from juicy meat or from the pickles, ketchup and mustard. I wouldn't think that such a thin burger would hold much juice, but I could be wrong. We both thought it was a good burger, but didn't think it beat out Rockwells big thick juicy burgers. The fries were...fries, no seasoning or anything. They did have other types of fries that we will try next time. Price was 13 dollars for 1 - 1/2 pound burger, 1- 1/3 pound burger, one side of fries and no drinks ( we drank water). In my opinion, SmashBurger did not smash the competition of available burgers in the Cypress area, but it was good enough to get our business in the future to try other things on the menu. read more

Great food. I prefer a burger that is not on the menu called "the Sin City". It's a standard burger with a fried egg on it as well as the other toppings. It is delicious! Give it a try and you won't be disappointed. Grab some Smash Fires or Haystack onions and wash it down with your own beverage preference. You too could become a regular there. read more

Ordered Smashburger on-line for pick-up today, Father's Day. Order not ready upon arrival, but I was 2-3 minutes early. Once they called my name, I asked point blank if everything was there: 5 burgers, 2 smash fries, 3 reg. fries & 2 brussel sprouts. The employee shook his head "Yes!", but did not check. To be fair, nor did I, but the ticket was correct. 1st mistake, I trusted his positive head shake. Got home, missing 1 burger & 4 fries. I called, told them what was missing & I'd be back and expected some type of compensation. When I got there, the order was not correct again, nor did they repeat the missing order correctly. I repeated it 3 times: 3 well done fries, 1 smash fry & 1 burger. I, also, told them I was missing a hot meal w/my family on Father's Day. I got lots of "We're sorry!", and then they threw in an extra large fry. I explained I DID NOT want the large fry, expected something more, and again: I missed my dinner w/my family. The manager, (who knew me and my son had worked for him at another restaurant), told me he could do nothing else, but offer extra food because my order was an on-line order! REALLY!! So, I put the large fry on the counter, told him my family would NOT EVER be back, (I can get better super hot fresh fries at my nearby McD's), and my son would never be allowed to work at a place where as an employee he could NOT OFFER "REAL" & TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I went in expecting today to be a cheat day...but found their Baja cobb salad! It was really good with fresh baby spring salad and tomatoes jalepenos and guacamole. I've eaten here 3 times now. The regular Smashburger with Sweet potato fries is fine (a step above whataburger). Sweet potato fries I thought were pretty good. I've also tried the chicken sandwich which I didn't think was as good as the Chik fil a Chicken Sandwich. I've also had the veggie frites which were horrible - flash fried my butt. They were soggy, squishy with grease, no breading at all - gross. I've also had the fried pickles - not very good either - soggy instead of crispy and overly greasy. Stick with a regular burger and fries and you'll be good although you may find your bread squished or wilted lettuce - in my experience. read more

Went with some friends for an early lunch today. We arrive 15 minutes after they open. We were immediately told "before you order, there will be a 15 minute wait on your food...we have a large order going out right now." There were not any customers in the store which means it was a catered order/special order they previously knew about. From working in the food business for several years, I was shocked to be greeted in this manner. The restaurant I worked at would make sure to have extra employees on shift to prepare a special order. Even if they weren't prepared with staff, it wasn't handled correctly. read more

What a disappointment this establishment has become. It used to be one of my favorites but again tonight I was let down. We showed up 20-25 minutes before closing. I realize this is late but we had been at a local high school baseball game that my son played in. I also realize the workers want to go home, however I have worked in the retail/ sales business in my past. Pretty sure customer service comes first. With that said we were asked "dine in or take out?" , to which I replied "dine in." I was then told they closed in ten minutes and it was told to me as if I was inconveniencing them. Unless it has changed retail/sales can lock their doors with customers inside and then finish details of closing after they eat/shop and leave. But my family of five ordered and took our food home. This was one of the first food places we tried when we moved here from the Chicagoland area. We loved the burger! It's so much different than any burger I've ever tried before. It's only cooked medium, which we normally do not like but it really enhanced the flavor. Just got back and we're not very impressed. The burger was way too big for the small bun and it was greasy. Cheese was almost nonexistent due to most of it being melted away onto the grill. Smash sauce looks and tastes like a little mayo + a little mustard, lettuce was huge and very wet making it too soggy. Fries were extremely oily and enough seasoning. Grilled chicken with cucumber, spinach, and goat cheese was much better. We were just visiting Cypress from Austin. We've heard that they are coming to Austin. Very very very slow. Ordered five items. Kids meals came out fine. One burger showed up wrong and had to be sent back. Then it came back without sauce. The other burger showed up 10 minutes later after everyone was almost done. The food was good, but I was tired of having to go back up to the counter so many times. Went to smash burger for the first time in forever and got a to go order. to start out the service was good and the guys in the front were super nice. But the burgers were cold, as well as the fries. I am writing another zero star review of the Smashburger on Cypress-Rosehill due to the 'approval' post from one 'Alejandro Z' in response to my initial post. I find several things about this 'counter-post' curious, including: 1) the very same day I posted this review, this person posts for the first time ever on Yelp; 2) the need for this person to make this about me not being able to read the display on a card reader (just as the manager did that day!) as some kind of pathetic way of shifting the focus off of the manager's abusive behavior and onto the customer by attempting to humiliate them; 3) the ability of the person posting to make wild accusations of all kinds against someone that had a 1-2 minute interaction with this manager that was largely witnessed by no one; 4) the vitriol in this post suspiciously matches the vitriol displayed by the manager in the restaurant that day; 5) for all the details provided, the post certainly IS one-sided - on the part of the manager - it doesn't include the snide comment he made to my kids about me after I left the restaurant or his snide response to my daughter when she picked up her food; 6) this is an out-of-proportion response to my original post that says a lot more about the person posting than it does about me.. Back to the original incident. I was simply trying to pay my bill. None of this had to happen. This was a perfectly average interaction until the manager became irate over a card swipe. In the end, either the restaurant takes responsibility for this incident or it loses customers. read more

3 times this establishment has completely botched my order. not 1 of 17 orders were correct. Some orders could barely be considered a meal. This time the manager was not even apologetic, but defensive. If you want a smash burger then go into the store, I (my office included) will not be ordering there again. There's too many other burger joints that hire employees with at least a public school education. read more
