The greatest thing about Smashburger (sadly, it's not the burgers) is the number of options. There are like five or six bun options, four meat types (one of which isn't meat), multiple patty sizes, multiple number of patty options, multiple cheese options, and of course tons of toppings. The burgers were good. Not cooked at too high of a temperature (a la Burger Fi) and were consistent from one side to another. The plain bun was actually quite nice but the bacon was a little burnt (sad face). If you're counting calories there are lower calorie meat options (chicken and turkey) or a meat free option (black bean) so that's nice if you're dining with a large group of people with various preferences. The staff could not have been nicer. They were chatty and fun and all of the clientele were enjoying the banter. One other thing that is fabulous here are the French Fries. Perfectly cooked and seasoned beautifully. I might just go back there for the fries. If I were nearby, I'd probably come back here. read more

Pretty good burger if you the like the smashed thin and seared method of preparation. I've been to this location four times. There is some inconsistency in the burgers in terms of how much the meat is seared(strange because that method of preparation is one of their claims to fame). Personally, I feel like it: Beats fast casual rivals like five guys, because it is definitely less greasy and superior tasting. Can't be compared to shake shack, because it depends on the mood better whether to personalize their burger toppings/ingredients or just stay simple/classic. Evenly matched to BGR joint because both places are customized burgers (beef, chicken, turkey, veggies), but also salads. BGR joint also asks how you would like the burger meat cooked. Compared to fast food rivals like McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's ... it easily outperforms them in freshness and quality. The food is great! Absolutely love the rosemary and olive oil fries are fantastic. We had the double cheeseburger--which has plenty of topping possibilities. Despite the food being really good, I am only giving them 3 stars, because they were really short-staffed (probably because of the pandemic)--so that caused a real delay in our getting our food. To start off, I wasn't going to eat here. My friends and I were walking passed and smelled the food. The smell was definitely a good sign. It was good food! The burger is perfectly cooked and seasoned. I ordered something that wasn't on the menu. The guy at the cashier said I could create my own, so I ordered a single burger with lettuce, tomato, American cheese, and extra pickles. The toppings were fresh and tasty. Here's why I'm giving 3 stars. They forgot my friend's order, and she had to wait for it to be after calling it to their attention. The reason they missed her order is because she ordered the same thing as me. But people order the same thing all of the time. Why not check? Anyways, they bring the food to you which is also nice. So happy there is still one lonely location on Rockville Pike, less than a mile away from me. Located next to Safeway, Smashburger has parking in front of the building and in the parking garage beneath Safeway. Their restaurant is fairly spacious and clean. When I want that Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger, this is my go to spot. With sautéed cremini mushrooms and truffle mayo on an egg bun, I have yet to find this burger elsewhere. However, my biggest concern is the amount of oil used to smash their burgers. Pretty greasy. Flavors for all their burgers are yummy though. I especially like the Spicy Jalepeno Baja. With guacamole, pepper jack, onion, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo on a spicy chipotle bun, there is a nice kick to the burger. Their sides are pretty tasty too. I enjoy the Smashfries which are tossed in rosemary, garlic, and olive oil. There is also a Smashburger app, which frequently sends out deals for BOGO entrees or discounts. Given how conveniently located this restaurant is, I wish I had even bought their Smash Pass! read more

Smash burger Silver Spring, MD location is awful. I've ordered many times in the past, I gave up on it and decided to bite the bullet this morning and order. They open at 8am. I order from doordash and after 30 minutes, my driver calls and tells me that he's going to have to cancel the order because some guy has the doors locked, claiming they're not opening until 10-30am. The guy was SUPER rude and disrespectful. There were MANY customers/delivery drivers out there arguing with him about it. This right here is my FAVORITE burger joint. The meat is always fresh, tasty, and perfectly cooked (and so is the chicken, both grilled and crispy). The shoestring fries are the right combination of chewy/crunchy (I call it chunchy) and if you're in the mood for something different, they have a rosemary/olive oil/pepper blend as well. I like dipping them in smash sauce because ketchup is overrated :P I also love how they offer a whole grain version of the classic hamburger bun. There's fresh salad as a side, or you can get a salad with your burger patty if carbs aren't an option. Veggie and sweet potato fries are part of the menu too, if you're in the mood for something other than classic French fries. They offer seasonal milkshakes too (last time it was banana) along with main staples like Oreo, Butterfinger, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Have stomach will travel, so while in MD decided to try a smashburger. I have been divorced from Mickey D's and the King for a very long time and took up with 5G's for my burger needs. So Smashburger was within walking distance and smells good. The smash bacon cheeseburger and smash fries were very good. The burger was juicy and need some salt and pepper to bring it to life. If they would clean the grill less it would probably have that seasoned taste ;) The smash fries were different with the olive oil, pepper and rosemary. If they were crinkle cut fries that would have been a touchdown, shoestring fries remind me of potato stix when I was a kid. The burger wasn't as thick as 5G but it was good. 2.5 stars. Food here isn't stellar. The burgers are subpar. BF and I got the classic smash and the avocado club burgers. The meat in both burgers was overcooked and dry. The toppings were good, bacon good. However, the burgers also felt somewhat small (very small patties) and they were not seasoned. Although I wasn't very pleased / satisfied with the Habit's burgers, those are better than Smashburgers'. The meat over there is at least still juicy and medium rare and not dry and well done. The burgers at Smashburger also did not give that satisfying content feeling after eating the burger. We also tried the smash fries, which were very good. They were very thin cut fries with olive oil, salt, and rosemary. Even though I don't always like thin fries, these were very good and the seasoning was good. However, when we got to the bottom of the basket, the fries were absolutely drenched in oil - it was disgusting. We also couldn't tell if it was olive oil or some other type of oil. I probably would not come back here for the burgers. Five guys still reigns supreme in the burger world for me. I did not receive everything in my order because yelp did not send the whole order. More of a 3.5 rating for me... Ahhh my beloved Smashburgers are all slowly disappearing from the DMV and this is the only location nearest to me now. Is Smashburger the best burger I've ever had in my life? Of course not, but I enjoy it from time to time. The thing I love about Smashburger are the sides! Man oh man they got tasty sides and so many to choose from. Such as fries, smash fries (rosemary garlic), fried pickles, haystack onions, sweet potato fries, tots & smashtots, crispy Brussels sprouts, and a side salad. My favs are the fried pickles and haystack onions, but truth be told, I haven't tried all the sides, bc it's too hard for me to deviate from my favs. The burgers I usually go for are the truffle mushroom Swiss or the spicy jalapeño Baja burger. Both tasty in their own right. Right now they have a limited burger called the Pub burger and I've been really digging it. It's triple the cheese on double beef topped with garlic grilled onions on a pretzel bun (I hold the mustard, not a mustard fan). It's juicy and delicious and I love how it's on a pretzel bun. Their shakes are alright for me, tasty, but nothing super special, especially for the price. I've never tried their salads, so I can't comment on that. I do prefer Smashburger over Shakeshack. The thing that detracts me from Smashburger are their prices and portions. It can be on the smallish side. But what's nice about Smashburger is that they often send out coupons and deals when you join their SmashClub. Smashburger is really the only location I can get fried pickles and haystack onions quick and easy without having to go to a sit down restaurant. I'm sad a lot of Smashburger locations have disappeared from the DMV and I hope the Rockville location stays around for me to get my occasional fix! read more

Not a busy day, 2pm didn't notice very many pick up orders but took over 20 minutes to get the food and then girl just basically just walked over and threw it on the table. Eh, I considered not writing a review at all but our experience was really not great. The food was thoroughly mediocre at best. The staff was unfriendly, bickering, and just generally unorganized- every order at the time we were there was either late or wrong, and our order (two burgers and a large fry) came out piecemeal. There was a large puddle of water on the floor that no one seemed to be cleaning up, and one bathroom was a complete disaster. The most frustrating part, however, was that an employee near our table was kicking ketchup packets (why? I don't know). One of the ketchup packets exploded onto my shoes, my pants, and my baby's stroller but the employee said nothing. I didn't say anything either due to wanting to leave as quickly as possible. As I said before, the food was mediocre but the experience was just terrible. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. read more

For some, just a $6 Burger will suffice so pricing is decent. For other hangry individuals like me, pricing is dumb. Two burgers (triple double and build your own), tots, two milkshakes, and a fountain regular size cup = $28 Quantity - 2/5: These burgers are pretty damn small in size. Five and six ounce patties. "Big" is six ounces. Triple double is nice for $6, but still not much meat. Don't bother with tots. You get like 10-15 for the price. Just buy a bag from Safeway. Milkshakes are about average size. Quality - 4/5: The burger was tasty, but not the best I've ever had. Really liked the gooey cheese with the burger. They won't ask you how you want it cooked, so you know it's not a true 5 star burger. Tots are tots. Milkshake was average. Drinks are genuine Sprite, Lemonade, water, unsweetened tea, lemon tea, and a few others. Still a tasty meal, but not superb. Overall, not a bad joint to visit here and there, but if you're looking for cream of the crop burger joints, it's not here. read more

I really like Smashburger's hamburger patties. They aren't heavy like other places. Their burgers are reasonably priced and tasty. The fries are too expensive to me. So, I don't get them. Unless through the loyalty program. The a-la-cart (app), trend these new fast food restaurants have going right now. I'm not a big fan of. But their customer service is great. I commented about tomatoes being put on my burgers in another customer survey. When I requested no tomatoes. And my next order, I don't know his name, but he made sure tomatoes were not on my burgers. He told me he checks the customer surveys. That, to me, is excellent customer service. The pros were the burger options were abundant, shakes and fries were good, the speediness from order placement to completion was top notch, and the egg burger buns were delectable. The cons were that my bun was a third smaller than my burger meat, the service was wham bam and thank you mammish, I spent $30 for 2 burgers 2 shakes, fries and onion rings, and finally they don't offer customers the option of how they want their burger temperature. We came here because we had a deal about buy one burger get one burger free and I was intrigued because I'd never been here. I couldn't tell if it was the actual patty or the sauce. The haystack onions were so greasy and soggy!! The carton was completely soaked in oil and so were some of the napkins in the bag.
