There was no "hard sell" on committing to, or scheduling, any of the additional work recommended. Just a simple printed quote we could reference in the future. The same for the "discount/club pricing" you would get for signing up with their office, which I declined, but my husband joined. Just the information made available quickly and clearly, and then you were free to move on. Everyone was SO friendly. I'm mad I didn't remember to write this review same day, so I could share specific names, but truly everyone was polite and pleasant to a degree that I can't imagine anyone working here isn't equally nice. He got me checked in, and the dental assistant got me in and was very knowledgeable about what she was doing, breaking down each step with the X-rays she was taking not only making me me feel comfortable, but I learned a few things during the process. Next, the dental hygienist Ashton came in and answered all my questions, and made me feel so comfortable about my cleaning. I don't know about y'all but cleanings make me nervous. They took x-rays. 2. They made me wait for an hour. 3. They informed me I cannot get a dental cleaning, which was the whole reason I was here. It was 3pm and they close at 4pm. Ooook. Appointment over I guess? 4. Nope. I need to wait for the doctor. Why? They don't know why. 5. Half an hour later a creepy guy comes in and tells me I grind my teeth at night. This is the doctor. Okay, can I have a dental cleaning? No, I cannot. It's too late. How is it too late? It just is. Welp, this was a massive waste of time. 6. Creepy doctor tells me he used AI to examine my teeth. He does this unprompted. He brags about it. He goes on about it at length! I just gape at him. Alright folks, this is Texas, which is beholden not only to HIPAA, but also the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, which makes feeding my medical data into AI VERY ILLEGAL, except in super specific circumstances. To wit, this dentist requires EXPLICIT permission from me, strict user opt-in/opt-out mechanisms and disclosure of automated profiling, to upload my data to an AI. Since I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE the AI currently wreaking havoc in our society (as does every other person who actually understands the implications of this dumb technology) I absolutely DO NOT consent to sending my private medical data to any AI entity. 7. Why did this guy get a medical degree if he's going to ask an AI if I have a cavity?? What is happening to this world? 8. I beat a hasty retreat, giving them my dental insurance. 9. Keep in mind, they have provided me with no service whatsoever, and I don't know how much it costs to provide no service whatsoever, but they can take it up with my insurance company. I previously had a terrible experience going to another dental office in Austin, so I was very selective when finding another office in the area. After a few visits at Blue Sky, I can say that Dr. Rightmer and her assistant do a great job with making me feel comfortable and educated in regards to teeth health. The office is clean, nicely decorated, and the front staff is always kind and fun to talk to! It is also big bonus watching Netflix when getting a cleaning! I had some teeth sensitivity after getting a filling so Dr. Rightmer worked with me and we redid the filling and now I do not have any teeth sensitivity! The office itself is welcoming and the folks at the front desk are so kind, patient, and understanding. I had some difficulty keeping up with my treatment plan, and instead of making me feel ashamed or rushed, the staff worked with me to break it into affordable steps. The flexibility and compassion really took a weight off my shoulders (life is hard)! Even when I rescheduled my appointment (more than once.. sorry). Because of their approach, my usual dental anxiety is much lower and I kind of look forward to my appointments (crazy, right?). Like many people, I have dentist trauma. He puts you at ease and makes things quick and painless. I've had a few cavities taken care of by Dr. Tyree and he's so much faster than other dentists. While still making sure the work is done right. It wasn't as long and complicated of a process than I was used to with other dentists. Recently I had to replace a cap I've had for over 20 years. I was so nervous! He made sure I was comfortable and knew what was happening. It was also quick and pain free despite my fear from past experiences. After every filling or procedure, he calls you a few hours later--personally on his off time--to make sure you're doing OK and provides advice. Who does that? He's funny and jokes that sometimes a margarita can help with pain . I highly recommend Dr. Tyree and feel lucky to have him as my dentist.
