Absolutely terrible experience from start to finish, and I am writing this review because I feel people need to be warned about this scam dental office. After looking for a new dentist closer to my new home, I found Smile On You Dentistry and Dr. Sooji Lee online. She had a lot of availability, and I was able to get an appointment within two days, which probably should have been my first warning sign. After arriving, the office was cold and unorganized, and I waited in the waiting room for close to 40 minutes after my appointment time. This was irritating, but I understand that offices can get busy and fall behind, so I didn't think much of it. After the technician took my X-rays, I sat in the exam room for a few minutes until Dr. Lee came in and introduced herself. She quickly looked at my X-rays and told me I had "severe" gum inflammation and that I needed a gum laser procedure to push them down and eliminate the inflammation. She also said I would need to come back for a deep cleaning. I looked at her in disbelief and could tell she was completely full of it. Then, the best part: she said we wouldn't be doing a cleaning today because it would just "spread the bacteria." She was EXTREMELY pushy about all of this, insisting I needed to do it ASAP, and that she was going to walk me to the front to pay for the procedure and schedule it. Yes, that's correct--she wanted me to pay for the procedure up front. The cost of the procedure was $1,800, not including the deep cleaning. I calmly told her I was going to think about everything and get back to them. She looked shocked and insisted that we needed to get it done immediately, but I said I needed to think it over. After that, you could tell she knew she wasn't going to get another scam sale, and she became unfriendly and cold. The entire situation was extremely bizarre and unacceptable, especially because, as someone in their 30s who gets cleanings every year, I knew there was no truth to her claims about the inflammation or the need for any procedure. I then checked Yelp and saw that many other 1-star reviews mentioned the EXACT same experience--what a scam, and they need to be reported to the BBB. The best part of all of this, three weeks later I drove 2 hours to my original dentist in my old city that I moved from, and she did new X-Rays and said my teeth and gums looked great other than slight tarter buildup that a cleaning would take care of. They did the cleaning right then as planned, and it was a totally normal dental visit with nothing out of the ordinary. I just want to warm everyone to please not go to Smile on You Dentistry in Lake Forest, or any of their other locations for that matter. There is no way they can keep up with this scam, I guarantee someone will sue or report them if they haven't already. read more

I wish I had checked the Yelp Reviews first. You will not get a dental cleaning, you will get a sales pitch. I wanted to find a dentist closer to home, so I picked this one. I called to book a dental cleaning. I was VERY clear. (Spoiler alert: I did not receive a dental cleaning.) Instead, I got x- rays and then the dentist came in, took pictures, and told me I needed 5500 worth of dental work (!!). 30 minutes into the appt/sales pitch, I asked about my dental cleaning. I was told I would not be getting one that day, only after I booked the expensive procedures. What on earth!? I asked for an itemized bill , they could not provide one but said they would email me later. All they gave me was a form for a credit company to get the 4500.00!! So you can come up with the fees but not explain them? I cancelled my future appts and am going back to my very reasonable and honest dentist a little further away. My family and I have been going to this office for a few years now. We really like the care we receive from the warmth of the front desk service reps to the dental staff. The office is always clean and nicely decorated. Dr. William is really kind, gentle, and compassionate. I used to have pretty bad dental anxiety, but he has really helped me to feel at ease. He is very knowledgable, skilled, and explains his procedures. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

Other reviews with one star is true. They are scammers. They only did the x-ray for the money and refuse to do any cleaning. Of course the dentist have to find all the wrong things about your teeth and insisting to see specialist he's referring to, his friend. He refuses to do any teeth cleaning until I see specialist for further work and make additional appointments with him to get everything fix then he'll provide teeth cleaning. Basically, teeth cleaning if you have perfect teeth! They are moving to a new location in Mission Viejo. Please avoid going to this dentist. read more

One word, scammers. Look for second option and run from this place!!! My crown fell off (while chewing a chewy candy, I now, I know, I shouldn't have) and my dentist (Dr. Eugene Schmidt from Fountain Valley) was out sick for a week so I decided to go to a dentist near me that had good review. I arrived to the location and right away, they did tons X-rays and even a 360 xray (usually those are taken for braces or to look at bone). Remember I was only there for my crown that feel off. Dentist Dr. Sooji H. Lee poked the tooth that was under the crown, told me my teeth were very small (they really aren't), the whole tooth was infected, and that my tooth was soft. She then told me I need an implant... and that I was in luck, they do those there! The vibe I got there was sales so I decided to wait to see my dentist next week since my tooth was not hurting or bothering me. I saw my dentist 1 week later. He poked around, said my tooth was solid and put the crown back on. After that I asked him... "so you don't think I need an implant?" He had a puzzled look on his face. He said, implant is a last resort. Your tooth is not infected, it's solid, and it's not bothering you. He also said, there are other things we can try before going that route. I am so glad I went back to my trusted dentist! Not only did I save myself 6k, but also a tooth that is still serving me well. It's no wonder some dentists make more than 500k a year. Word of advise, when in double, look for second or even third opinion. It's worth it. The good reviews here are either fake, or people that had good experience and didn't know any better. read more

The absolute worst dentist I have ever been too. I have had nothing but bad experiences every time I go here. Out of convenience I have sucked it up but today was the last time. Every time I come they find something extra to charge me and for 8 years prior to them never once had anything extra. This time they wouldn't even clean my teeth unless I paid for the extra laser appointments. LITERALLY wouldn't do anything unless I did those. That would have been fine but why not at least clean them a bit while I'm there. It's a band aid but it's better than nothing and they wouldn't give a decent answer why. I think they just wanted to close. Another time I had to pay hundreds extra to get them special cleaned because they were so dirty and they wouldn't clean them until I came back then but I complained that was stupid so they at least cleaned them while I was there then I still had to come back a week later and pay more. This place is a scam. Either way they seem nice and the admin team is friendly but as a business it's a joke, good luck for anyone who comes here. read more

This place is all about sales. While the staff are friendly and the dentists are pleasant. They recommended I get a deep cleaning (we just moved and my previous dentist I had seen for 5 years with a regular cleaning every 6 months never mentioned or said anything about needing a deep clean). The deep clean was $2 grand plus, on top of a crown! All totaling to over $4 grand! Thank god I have a dentist friend who took a look at my X-ray and said I did not need the deep cleaning. This place wouldn't let me get my crown unless I did a deep cleaning. Never heard or experienced anything like this before. BE AWARE!!! First time is with a female doctor, she was recommended me to take off all my teeth because she said my teeth is getting bone loss, which is not all of them. I was a bit shock and confused. I left without asking further question. After that, they try to contact and massage me to come back for another consultation. In few months, I was thinking I should give them second chance for a better recommendation. This time is with a male doctor, he said that should take off all teeth on upper jaw. I hate going to dentists. Well, who doesn't hate going to dentists? But it's a necessary evil.... I highly recommend smile on you dentistry just because of the friendly atmosphere that they provide. You can tell they really care about their patients because even when I walk in without an appointment, they know who I am and ask questions about me relevant to me. They really listen to you and offer very helpful insights into whatever questions you have. Appointments are easy to make since you can do it online (yay don't even have to call!) They always manage to schedule you in a way that you're never really waiting. I think the only time I've ever had to wait to see Dr. Lee was when they squeezed me in for a quick appointment and they even stayed late to finish seeing me. I really don't think you can go wrong here. They even offer you a $20 target g.c. for referring friends and family. Highly recommend you NOT going to this place. The doctor took a very brief look at my mouth and calculated an 1800 bill for services needed within 5 minutes of arrival to the office (jaw drops to floor) I decided get a second opinion and after a thorough exam the other place said just a teeth cleaning is needed and the treatment recommended by smile on you was extreme and unnecessary at this time. I love this place! I hadn't been to the dentist in years and was nervous about finally going. There was no teeth-shaming here though. The staff and doctor were all super nice. I was 7 months pregnant when I first started going and they made sure that everything they did was cleared by my doctor first. And when my baby was born they followed up with me to check how me and baby were doing. They even remembered her name! Dr. Lee is always nice and super gentle. Whenever she treats my teeth, she is very careful and gentle. I just finished invisignline. My teeth were very stubborn and honestly, I did not put my tray on every day...Yes, I am not a good patient. So it took longer than I expected due to my laziness. But she was so patient and fixed my teeth at last! Now I love my front bottom teeth. It was always shy to show them, but now I can smile big! Especially when I was pregnant, they were very careful. Not only Dr. Lee but also her staff is super kind. I can feel they are genuinely nice. Whenever I do any treatment, they always check if the tummy is okay or I have any nausea or back pain. Seeing the one star reviews finally gave me the courage to post my own. It really hurts to post this because the doctor and staff seem like such nice people and I didn't want to post a bad review in case I was wrong about things. Now that I see that it's a pattern with other patients I feel stupid for having gone here for years and getting suckered by the doctors. Over the years, Dr. sooji has recommended I get many crowns- for really odd reasons as well. "Grinding in my sleep" when I never had that issue previously, and then seeing the crown tooth need to be filed down to match the height of my original tooth. Being told I need a procedure to address a gum infection when my gums looked normal and were actually feeling perfectly fine. I went against my gut instinct all these times because I trusted the dentists. And after the painful procedure, my gums looked EXACTLY the same. I'll never in my life just trust one doctor or dentist's advice for something ever again after this... please, PLEASE - if you decide to go and anything is recommended- PLEASE get a second opinion. read more

I have been going here since 2019. Of course, Covid kept me from our regular routine, so last year I had a tooth that had broken, & they put an implant in. I was, & am, happy with that procedure. In fact, I've been satisfied with the service I have received - until today. I had an appointment for a routine cleaning. I arrived on time. After waiting 30 minutes, I inquired as to how much longer it would be, as I had another appointment. I was told not too much longer. After another 15 minutes with no further updates, I finally had to leave or reschedule the rest of my day. If I had been offered the opportunity to reschedule, or even if either of the employees behind the desk had offered to go back & check, I would not be leaving their service today. But to let a client sit for 45 minutes past their appointment with no updates or explanation is unacceptable to me. read more

Dr. Sooji Lee and her staff are all wonderful. I went to another dentist prior to this and I was quoted $2500 worth of fillings, and a $400 deep cleaning treatment. I did the deep cleaning and still had tenderness in my gums. So Then I came here, and they quoted me $400 for everything. They also said deep cleaning that I paid for was unnecessary because it was my wisdom teeth that were causing inflammation. So pretty much, she was not trying to upsell me on unnecessary procedures. She performed 8 fillings on me. They feel great. She did an excellent job making sure I was numbed and comfortable throughout the entire process. I highly recommend this place. So I have had more then my share of nightmare experiences with the dentist. Even an average experience was considered awful, from the front desk to the dr assistant and them payment and scheduling additional appointments. All that changed today! I had the best dental visit of my life! The staff was cheerful, helpful, friendly and was ready for my at my actual appointment time, no really- I didn't have to wait. I was offered water, tea and even coffee and that was just the waiting room. Phase 2-The dental assistant She was awesome too! Cheerful, friendly and a great personality. She explained everything she was doing and listened to all my concerns as well as a few horror stories so she got that I was not totally excited to be there Phase 3- Dr Lee Wow! She rocks. She too was friendly, cheerful and truly concerned about my freakish hatred of the dental office. I went in for my first checkup and cleaning in about a year and brought my 5-year-old son with me. I tried this place because we recently moved and it was local. This is a newer office, but I understand that Dr. Lee has been in dentistry for years. The office was really clean and inviting. They had a flat screen TV playing movies in the reception area, but there wasn't much of a wait after filling out the forms on an iPad (seriously, this place has all of the cool technology). They used digital X-rays and other cool toys like laser teeth cleaning for the checkup and cleaning process that made everything much more comfortable than I've experienced at other offices. My son and I each had a cavity, but the filling process was smooth. The dental technician, Luis, did a great job of keeping my son calm through the process. With this being his first filling, I was impressed that they were able to keep him calm. This is the first composite filling that I've gotten where I don't have to go back to smooth it out. I have TMJ and I was very impressed with the knowledge of Dr. Lee and her staff about how I can relieve discomfort. They definitely knew what they were doing and they made the entire experience light and comfortable. I didn't use it, but they had one of those advanced teeth whitening machines and Invisalign and will be offering orthodontics in the future. I highly recommend Dr. Lee. read more

This review is for my mother (B.O.) who has been a patient since May 2021. She has always been greeted with a smile and the staff is exceptional. The facility is clean and Drs. Lee and Park combined have provided the utmost care for patient safety. Such as always pulling out sanitized instruments, all employee's are fully gowned with gloves, and no cross contamination. Additionally, it is nice to receive an itemized list of dental procedures, and it is a requirement for everyone entering to wear a mask during the Pandemic. There is nothing worse than having a tooth ache on vacation! My Grandmother and I live in Northern California. For her 93rd birthday, she asked to visit my nephew in Irvine. It was the first time she was going to see him (he's eight-years-old). On the way down South, we were snacking on some trail mix when suddenly she cried out in paid. She'd bitten down on something crunchy and her tooth hurt. As soon as we got into Irvine, we looked for the nearest dentist. Dr. Lee saw us without an appointment and as a walk-in. The paperwork was hassle-free and could be completed using an iPad. She quickly diagnosed what my Grandmother suspected--that she needed to have a tooth pulled. If we were staying in the area longer, we'd absolutely have her perform the surgery. The whole staff was wonderful (better than our own dentist's office back home). And they gave Grandmother the best gift they could give her -- a free visit and pain medication. It's nice to know good people still exist. We highly recommend Dr. Lee and her office!!! Dr. Lee is a phenomenal dentist. Over the years I have seen several and I have never had a better experience. Her office is beautiful and modern. She accommodates my appointments with my busy schedule and her front office staff is always professional and friendly. She performed a root canal and reconstructed old fillings with beautiful new white porcelain fillings; I couldn't be happier with the results! Typically, I experience a lot of pain and sensitivity post treatment, but following Dr. Lee's services I felt completely fine. She has a very light hand and her injections go unnoticed. I have been going to Dr. Lee and her team for over three years and now my wife is going too. I know that both of us have never had better teeth. All of the work we had was right for us and only what was needed. Through all I have always felt Dr. Lee cares that I understand the process and am happy with the outcome. Really always feel uplifted when I leave her office and I notice the same from other patients. Details! We both received whitening treatments almost two years ago and our teeth are still great. Also wife had some metal fillings replaced which went very well. I also got my first fillings and these were over a year ago and all is well. I should mention I was fairly resistant to any work and Dr. Lee was very understanding and patient with me. Also Dr. Lee noticed my cracked molar had been filed down by another dentist and the sensitive part of the tooth was exposed so she protected that wit a filling. I went to Smile On You Dentistry for the first time just a few months ago, and have been meaning to write a review ever since. The customer service at this place is phenomenal, I should definitely start there. Dr. Lee did such a great job on my root canal and crown, and I was especially impressed by how quickly they were able to fit me in for an appointment once they understood the severity if decay in my tooth. Everyone is this office was wonderful, accommodating and pleasant. Dr. Lee made sure I understood every step of the process as she worked on my repair. I will absolutely return to this office. Finally, a dentist office that truly understands customer service!!! I rarely write reviews, but this place is totally worth the time. This office is so new and inviting and SUPER CLEAN!! Big props to the staff for friendliness. They greet you when you walk in. The "paperwork" is done on an ipad (Finally, a health care professional in the digital age.) I was offered water or coffee - they have a Kurig in the lobby. The equipment they use is the highest technology, and Dr. Sooji is so personable. I felt everyone was very concerned about my comfort. My first time visit at Smile On You Dentistry was exceptionally outstanding!! I flew home (across the country) for Christmas break and even before my arrival my mother was hassling me about my over due dental check up. When I'm home my mother thinks it's necessary to cover all check-ups, however, I digress. It was my first time going into this establishment and from the minute I walked in the staff was extremely welcoming and attentive. The collaboration and professionalism between them and the doctor, Dr. Lee, allowed me to trust them with my needed dental work. I am quick to refers any dental services because even the slightest sound of the drill gets my heart racing and palms sweating !!! However, the genuine reassurance from start to finish eased my nerves. With that being said, top off the nerves I ended up having two cavities with one potentially being a root canal. My appointment was going to have to be extended into another visit because of the lengthy procedure. Although, Dr. Lee had a full schedule and no availability. She without hesitation squeezed me into her Friday, so that I can return to school without any problems! Dr. Lee and her assistant Maria, who started with my x-rays, walked me through every dental technique and thought process.
