This place is great. We went in, not starving, risky when trying a new place. After finishing all the big bits, I tried to scrape out every last grain of rice from tray to mouth. It wouldn't have looked right licking the bowl clean but, were I less civilized, I certainly would. Hubby and I shared things: spicy tuna poke (perfectly spiced and spicy), shrimp hibachi (best ever), and miso (spot-on). Nice ambiance. Supremely clean. Go here. No regrets. read more

This is an awesome little poké place near UTC in the Bradenton/Sarasota area. First discovered poké about three years ago in SoCal (Pokénometry in Anaheim), and Smilefin does not disappoint in any way. Poké is basically sushi in a bowl. You can order menu item bowls or build your own Chipotle-style. The food is fresh, and served in a fast-casual environment that's reasonably priced. There's something here to satisfy everyone, and my kids loved it. This will be now be a mandatory stop during my annual visit to the area! read more

Been wanting to go here since they hung the sign months ago. Finally got there today. Ordered three bowls to-go. Selection awesome, Portions awesome, Freshness awesome, Prices awesome. They have signature bowls or make your own. We eat sushi every chance we can and have been on a poke craze for over a year. Love the grab and go aspect of the poke and the quantity of fish is ten fold. The only negative thing I can say is that I am a moron for not going here sooner. This place is great. Great service and selection. The fish is sometimes hit or miss though; sometimes fresh, sometimes not. Not fresh fish is not something I would gamble though. I ended up throwing away the fish from my bowl and eating just the rice and veggies. I may come back just to give it another chance but that's only if I crave the poke bad enough. Came for the first time on Thursday, had to return on Sunday because I just couldn't get this amazing food off my mind. I had the #1 spicy tuna poke bowl and it was like a party in my mouth. Each bite had crunchy, spicy, chewy, sweet, crisp, oniony goodness...it was a flavor explosion every single time. I was literally sad when I licked the last morsels out of the bowl. Over priced and mediocre. I got the Hawaii bowl for 12$ which was a small plastic bowl of mostly rice with some chunks of under ripe mango, cucumber, and avocado mixed in plus a few small chunks of salmon on top. A nondescript commercial looking sauce was squirted on it prior to serving. It tasted exactly the way it looked, and wasn't enough for dinner. To add insult to ripoff, they wouldn't even serve it with a glass of water. I had to pay another dollar for some water. My husband got a tuna bowl which was a little better but not by much. When we got home, we had to make ourselves something for dinner or we would have been hungry. (after spending $30). The one positive, I can report is that it appeared to be very clean and new. I think they are trying to make hay and almost pure profit on something "trendy". I'm confused by the 19 prior positive reviews which was why we tried it. Yelp reviews are usually more accurate.
