Recently I had to have a cracked crown replace. it was located on an implant that was installed 14 years ago in the United Kingdom. Dr Shah performed all the prep work required to exposing the hardware but did not have the necessary specialized tool to remove the crown. She contacted a colleague that had the required tools. Because of the prep work and with the necessary tools he was able to remove the crown and provide the necessary replacement parts in a very short visit. Dr Shah then continued the job by casting the molds for the new crown and temporarily sealed up the implant. I needed to have the work performed expeditiously due to an upcoming trip. Everything has gone great to date and I am extremely happy with her work as well as thankful for her ability to set me up with a specialist to keep me on track for the replacement crown prior to my trip. I just called to schedule a new patient appointment. I have new insurance and was unaware that I need to be assigned a dentist. I looked on the insurance website and sure enough, I had to change my assignment. Christina walked me through the insurance process with both of my dental insurances and was so nice, patient, and wonderful. I went in for x-rays and a new-patient appointment. I was told that I would need $2500 in work though I am in no pain. They advised a deep cleaning for $80, a "great rate." I said I would do that while I considered the rest. I came, had my deep cleaning, and paid my $80. The very next day I got a call saying that I owed $240 more because the rate was really only for 1/4 of the cleaning. They apologized and offered $5 off the rest of my work. I cancelled all future appointments and do not recommend. Between inflated estimates and excessive charges, I would not trust this dentist for any work. read more

And after knowing about my Cigna HMO insurance benefits, Dr.lopa shah denied my regular cleaning and said due to my tartar it should be done only deep cleaning for which i need to pay $534, why would i? So i paid the 5$ co pay for visit and came back. Such waste of time visiting this doctor. I never like giving negative reviews but my frustration with businesses that seems so unnecessary are the ones who get negative comments from me. We had very high hope for this place. Several people in the office were wonderful. Christina, I think was her name was very pleasant!!! However, the dentist herself made me feel a bit irritated. I had been I'll for over a year and took a lot of medication. I asked them to not give me fluoride. She said she would not gray that request that it was her procedure and I could go elsewhere if I chose. I did because I should be the one to decide if medications or chemicals if any kind go into my body. Even doctors will jot give you medication when you tell them no. Additionally, I have requested payment made to them last year for my taxes. 3 calls and no response. Amazing service at every visit. I have been going to Dr. Shah for more than 3 years now and every time She takes out the time to get to know me and make me feel at ease. I needed multiple fillings. For every appointment Dr. Shah explained what she was going to do and showed me before and after pictures to see for myself. Call to setup an appointment with Smilesavors on March 27th for early April Appt. Didn't get a confirmation call the day before so I showed up anyway and when I got here, the Dr. was working on a patient so I waited patiently at the Lobby. My appt was at 11am and I got there early around 10:45 because I knew I had new patient paperwork to fill out. The Dr asked if it was hard finding the place and I was like it's ok. So I waited and waited until it was about 11:20am and then she was done. After the patient left, she goes "so your email says you have experience with dental office" I was like "no I'm not here for an interview, I have an appt at 11am" she then said "oh ok, I thought you were the Asian lady coming for interview. Can you wait, it's my lunch time" I'm like "ok sure I'm here anyway". 10 seconds later she calls out and said "let me get you some paperwork to fill out" she goes to the front desk and looks at her computer and said "I don't have an appt for 11am but are you Gomez?" By this time in my head I was like (WTF, first I'm not on your calendar and didn't get a confirmation call the day before and you didn't ask my name and thought I was an interviewee and then you didn't ask my name again and think I'm a Gomez)....but I didn't want to make a fuss at that time, by this time it was already 11:30 (been waiting for 45 mins). Then she goes "I don't have you in my system, what's your name *finally!*. Told her my name and she couldn't find me in her calendar, I said I can reschedule and told her I can do Tues-Fridays. She then gave me two dates (THAT was on Mondays). I just said is there any way I can come back later as I had to get my phone fixed. She said yea come back at 2pm, don't be late I have customer at 3pm" I literally lost it at this point, after about an hour of going back an forth I left to get my phone fixed and decided to look elsewhere. My kids went here one time last year. (never wrote anything till now) It was awful. Never experiences such low quality care. - Waited for 17 mins in the waiting room, only after I asked how much longer that they said we should start with xrays - the xrays turned out poorly. Majority of it was cut off and out of the shot. When I shared the xray with our current dentist they commented that they were not good xrays. - Nothing was sterilized. Thing were just put on top of a bare counter - They did not wear gloves - When they "washed" my kids teeth. They just sprayed water. That's it. No polishing, no tartar removal. I had sharp toothache while I was traveling here, so I was so worried about whether or not I could find a good dentist. Fortunately, we found Dr. Shah. She and her staff were extremely friendly and professional. She found the root cause quickly and provided very professional solutions. Understanding that I am traveling from another country and my insurance may not cover, she showed empathy and also provided temporary solution. It was a very pleasant procedure as she told me every step and kept very transparent to me. Because she prescribed antibiotics upon the first appointment before the scheduled root canal procedure, the pain was almost gone, so based on the status, she did not push for root canal, and suggested with a filling based on her professionalism and experiences, which also helped me to save lots of money. I have had the dentist fail to make my appointment multiple times. I have had the same comically inept x-ray session as the bad review below. One pic took four tries! All while I am being smothered under a lead apron while the "tech" is safely off in another area not getting irradiated. I've been to this place twice now, and both times, I received substandard service. The first time was for a "deep clean" which involved a local anesthetic. I have a relatively high tolerance for pain and have been orally anesthetized before. However, when Dr. Shah was injecting me with the anesthetic, her technique was so poor and caused so much pain that my eyes teared up. The second time at Smilesavers, I came in for several fillings. I'd made an appointment with Dr. Shah, but when I arrived, I found out that she wasn't even in the office that day and the dentist doing my fillings was a contract dentist. No one had bothered to call and tell me this! While the contract dentist had much better technique in administering the anesthetic, it turns out she was absolutely awful at doing fillings. I found this out because today, I went to a different dentist who took both X-rays and regular, high-definition photos of each of my teeth. Based on these pictures he pointed out that my fillings done at Smilesavers were done extremely sloppily and poorly. So poorly done, in fact, that they were putting pressure on the walls of my teeth and even caused one to start cracking. He said the quality of the fillings looked like they had been done by dental students at a free clinic. Given how much I paid, the dreadful work done at Smilesavers is simply unacceptable. I had to change dentists when I retired and lost my dental insurance from my employer and had to switch to the dental plan on my Medicare supplemental insurance. I'm glad I found Smilesavers. I've been going to Smilesavers Dental for about 8 months after a bad experience with my previous dentist. What a difference! Dr. Lopa Shopa did a (much needed) deep cleaning and installed 4 crowns, the last 2 being finished today. Dr. Shah works quickly and efficiently, while still maintaining high quality. I feel she cares about my comfort in the chair and tends to minimize my time there. I also find her dental staff, Melissa x 2, to be very competent. We have been going to Dr. Lopa Shah for last 10 years, we find her to be honest and thorough with her treatment. We recently got my 6 year daughter treated with multiple cavities with her, we were more than satisfied with the treatment. We were earlier taking her to pediatric dentist, However we skipped dentist visit for a year, and she was diagnosed with 8 cavities! The BAKD treatment plan suggested 6 baby root canal and 2 extraction. Lopa Shah's treatment plan suggested 4 baby root canal and 4 fillings and ended with only 1 extraction and 1 baby root canal. Although initially I was hesitant going to regular dentist instead of pediatric dentist for my little girl, but it turned out to be best decision. The cost also came out also lesser compared to fancy pediatric clinics. read more

Dr. Shah spent 5 minutess cleaning my teeth. Sh scraped under the gums in a manner that I was jumping because of the tenderness with each tooth. (This has never been my experience with prior cleanings.) Then she complimented me on the good job I am doing cleeaning my teeth. Just wierd! There were other issues with how she was charging, a referral I needed to an endodontist and more. It's better for me to just move on to another dentist. Dr. Shah's customer service was awful. Though it was so uncomfortable, the nurse lady told me it has to be this way, thus I tried my best to tolerate, with tears. Besides, I know the cleansing is not supposed to be an enjoyable process, however, the dentist could give you a bit of respite in the duration, at least, my previous dentist did so. I clenched my fist and even hold my breath to endure the whole process, thank God, the process did not last very long. Though it's not very courtesy to mention here, maybe due to my sensitivity to smell, the nurse lady smells a little stinky. read more

Well it took me weeks just to log on again but I just have to applaud the way Dr. Shaw worked me into her schedule almost immediately to address a difficult dental issue. The staff is always friendly and well prepared for visits(my opinion). Dr. Shaw shows a very compassionate and concerned interest in not only dealing with problems that have arisen for dental care but other social or medical one might have. For me one of the most important things ( I have pathetic Delta Dental for insurance) she exchanged many phone calls with Delta, on my behalf and eventually was able to do work I needed. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Do not go there at all! This was possibly one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a dentist office or any business for that matter. First of all, I was a new patient and when I inquired on if my insurance was all set, I was told it was. Then, after already giving me the x-rays I was told there was a problem with the timing of my insurance authorization to this new location. We got the insurance company on the phone and they said they made a mistake but that the dentist office could still take me as long as their internal system was updated. The office then told me they could not do that and I would have to come back the following month. This was inconvenient for me but I accept it as I was just getting a teeth cleaning. I then received a bill in the mail for the x-rays. I figure when I went in for the cleaning they would take care of it for me as it was obviously my insurance company that was at fault. Nope! When I went in for the cleaning the first thing they ask me about was my bill. I told them that is abs. absurd to ask me about this as it was not my responsibility to pay for it. They asked me to pay the bill before I received my cleaning. I was like "what the hell," I went out of my way to come back and now you are going to give me crap about this. The nice lady at the front desk decided to seat me anyways and said she would explain to the dentist. Once seated, I mentioned to the dentist that there was an issue with the billing and she very quickly replied with an arrogant attitude, "well, it is for you and your insurance to deal with so let's get started with the cleaning." Then, after all that shit about billing, she tried to up-sale me on a "deep clean" bec. supposedly my teeth were darkening bec I drink coffee and tea. It was soooo obvious she was trying to get me to give her even more money as she quoted my an additional cost of $135 right on the spot. What a bunch of crap....a "deep clean." Are you kidding me! I am already complaining about how you billed me for x-rays that you should not have even given me in the first place and now you are trying to get me to give you even more money. Do I look stupid? Obviously I said no. She then very quickly cleaned my teeth and ask the assistant to do the polish. She darted off to the back office room and I didn't see her again. She didn't even check me for cavities!!! After the polish, I proceed to the front desk and the girl at the front desk said the dentist insists I pay for the x-rays. I am not a poor man and I know my insurance company will pay me back so I decided not to argue. I paid for the x-rays and told them I will never come back and I will go out of my way to write this post on Yelp and any and all other review sites this office will be posted to. So, here I am going so. oh, and to boot, I didn't even get a free tooth brush or floss. If she really cared about her patients and their teeth, she would have at least given my my floss!
