At the beginning of the year, I had posted a review elsewhere, Google, covering the gap between my visits to Dr. Longakit In that review, I stated, due to lack of insurance coverage, finances & a string of bad luck, I had been unable to see Dr. Longakit for several years. Dr. Longakit was both gracious and professional in picking up and taking care of my needs. I forgot to note and post that review here, and I am correcting that omission by briefly covering that review and providing the following update. Update: 7.3.26 Dr. Longakit has been treating me for an infected gum area, the upper right, via antibiotics, which has needed a Root Canal. This Friday, she brought me in to do the actual procedure. I can easily report that she maintained her deft touch and true focus on doing the root canal while dealing with the pus produced by the infection. Although it required additional time and effort, Dr. Longakit was a true professional and ensured she and her very capable assistant dealt with this issue while ensuring my comfort from the get-go. From the numbing agents and anesthesia she provided to her drilling extra carefully to ensure non-breakage of my crown to actually doing the root canal, throughout the procedure, she was both calm, gentle, focused, and extra precise. That was transmitted to me by her body language and demeanor, such that it helped me feel well cared for and fully trust that I was in capable hands. Her follow-up after the procedure was both respectful and so professional that I feel truly grateful and lucky to have her as my dentist. Based on this latest experience, I continue to highly recommend Dr. Longakit as an excellent resource to any and all, and would venture to say they would be both lucky and happy to have her as their chosen dentist, as I am and have covered above. read more

I went to see Dr. Longakit yesterday for the first time. Her and Utku helped me out. They brought me back quickly and were really efficient. I went in for a chipped tooth and Dr. Longakit gave good suggestions for me to keep my teeth/gums healthy. She wasn't pushy at all with any services and she was super friendly. She addressed all my questions and didn't seemed annoyed at all lol. (other places seem annoyed because they want you in and out quickly) She thoroughly explained my situation and as well as concerns I had with insurance. I'm extremely lucky to have discovered Olive Tree Dental on this long strange trip it's been. Dr. Longakit is the best dentist I've encountered and just the sweetest lady too. I know pain, having already lived the life of an old motorcyclist as a middle aged man... I get little to no pain here. She is always making sure a person is comfortable, and is so attuned to a client sometimes I wonder if she is a mind reader... like when I thought of a pillow and she was already adjusting one. I recently had a deep cleaning and a couple of fillings done here and I can honestly say this has been the best dental experience I've ever had. Horribile skills and horrible business practice. I went through multiple surgies at UCSF, Stanford Hospital and hardly need pain pills. But when Longakit did root canal, the pain was excruiating. She uses brutal force. I went to a different doctor, it was hardly a pain of the same operation for anoth tooth. Then when the other doctor was out of the office, I needed a teeth cleaning, made an appointment with Longakit. And when I arrived, she said she cannot see me. I have delta dental and have 2 free cleanings a year. I was charged 42 dollars my initial visit, paid it. But I called my insurance immediately afterwards based on the services provided and they said everything is covered 100%. Olive tree dental refunded me the money. I return for my second cleaning this year and was informed I have a balance of 42 dollars. Dr. Longkit informed me that insurance only covered about 38 dollars of my visit and this is not sustainable for business and she already wrote off 130+ so I need to pay an extra 42 dollars. One cannot agree to a price with insurance and charge the client more. This is an issue that needs to be taken up with insurance not incurred onto the client. Know your benefits. We were both mutually respectful with each other. I left without my cleaning today and won't be returning. If my dentist is sketchy with billing, I don't know what other tricks may be pulled to keep the business afloat. I did enjoy the family feel. The patient care chair and window was serene. She seemed to get along well with her assistant. He was very kind. I wanted to love this place, but it's not for me. read more

Dr Longakit is awesome. Visiting the dentist can be a little scary especially when it's your first visit and don't know what to expect. When you walk into the office they are friendly, polite and kind to you. You are treated as a friend right through the door. The atmosphere here is great. It's a friendly place. Her care is gentle and kind. She is always making sure you are comfortable and taken care of. I always appreciate a dentist that is honest and up front with me. This dentist will no longer accept Kaiser patients, even if they are a patient's assigned facility. I selected this office in September 2023 but did not try to schedule an appointment until recently. Despite being assigned to this office, the dentist is declining to accept "new Kaiser patients". If they were going to do this, they should have notified everyone currently assigned to their office when they made that decision. I talked to everyone in the officee, all the way up to the dentist, who ended up being quite rude. I can't speak to the quality of the dentistry, but as a business they absolutely did not meet my expectations. read more

Denti-cal does not compensate dentists enough. This results in unprofessionalism of poor treatment and disrespect. Unfortunately with Dr. Longakit, there is also the issue of honesty. First, I thought she just had a bad assistant failing to call me back. But no, unfortunately, it goes to Dr. Longakit. In October, I scheduled to get deep cleaning. I was told that I could bring x-rays in or get them taken there. I emailed the dental office and asked to transfer the x-rays. I did not receive a reply to that email. The dental office had me to come in take x-rays, which I did. I was on time; they were not. I asked for a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning. Dr. Longakit told me Denti-cal would bill me for the regular cleaning; that I would be responsible for the payment and that her office would not receive payment for the cleaning. I declined. Dr. Longakit billed Denti-cal for the x-rays. It turns out, I later learned, that Dr. Longakit also billed for a regular cleaning. This is a problem because I did not get a regular cleaning, yet Denti-cal says she was compensated for it. Dr. Longakit said Denti-cal would most likely deny my deep cleaning, but I could get the deep cleaning done right away by paying her cash. I told her I wanted her to clean my teeth with Denti-cal approval. It turns out the only "service" I would get from them was getting x-rays taken while they billed denti-cal for cleaning they didn't do while trying to sell me a cleaning Denti-cal later agreed to pay for, and for which Longakit refused to perform. They would not return any of my phone calls after that. In November, I put a Yelp review of "hey, call me, I'm trying to get ahold of you." The Dr. Longakit called me right away. She told me her assistant had already called me back. I double checked my VM and missed calls with her on the phone, checking the time and date and number she mentioned, there were no matching calls. I told Dr. Longakit nobody had called and that if her assistant had told her otherwise, she should apologize to me and seriously look into the matter the assistant's false statement. If they forgot, an apology is enough. But a lie? No. Most people forgive a mistake easier than a lie. Nobody had called me back and Dr. Longakit apologized to me. Dr. Longakit said she would call me after she received approval for the procedure and I should wait for her to call. I reminded her that the cleaning was overdue so to please call right away, then thanked her and again urged her to seriously look into the false statement of her assistant. Then I deleted the Yelp review. Then I waited. But no call came from Olive Tree Dental. Early December, I found a letter of approval from Denti-cal that had been sent out late November. I was really happy to learn that my periodontal procedure had been approved. But Olive Tree Dental had not called me. Why? I called Olive Tree Dental and left a voice message. I called back a few times over the next week-and-a-half but only got voicemail. I left voice messages but nobody called back. Mid December, I left a Yelp review for Olive Tree Dental, as they had not responded to the Denti-cal letter and had ignored all of my calls. Again, my review was like "Hello, Dr. Longakit. Please contact me at your earliest convenience. Nobody answers and nobody returns VM." Not a bad review and one I would willingly delete, if they would acknowledge the letter from Denti-cal or any of my calls and just call me. Late December (today), I called Olive Tree Dental again. This time, a person picked up. I asked who it was. It was Anna. Anna confirmed who she was talking to (me), then told me "The server is down. I have to restart it. I'll call you later." Anna wouldn't say how long it would take. I eventually got Anna to agree to call back in half an hour. She did not call back. So, I called Denti-Cal to ask if they can help me get an appointment with Dr. Longakit. Denti-cal said there were no other periodontists and then offered to call Olive Tree Dental while I waited on hold. I waited on hold for over 30 minutes. Then, Denti-cal rep said Olive Tree Dental had agreed to call them back. I asked when. They didn't know. I asked the rep whom they'd spoken to. She did not know. So, I asked her to call back again and get the name of the person and to ask for a commitment to call back by a certain time. While on the phone, I checked back on Yelp. Nobody from Dr. Longakit's office had called me, but the Yelp review had been taken down (she complained to Yelp about it) and Dr. Longakit had messaged me to say she wouldn't see me because I had left a note on Yelp. Did she ever want to? I have been waiting months for approval and scheduling for a deep cleaning that is six months overdue. Dr. Longakit knows that. She also knows I cannot transfer the referral. If Denti-cal paid dentists more, I could get a fair dentist and my needed care. read more

She chewed me out in front of her patients when I called her out on it in from her patients that there is no copayment!!! She said I was rude huh are you kidding me she just got caught in a lie!!! Dr. Longakit is my goto Dentist and will always be my goto Dentist for several reasons. (Not that I am looking forward to any more tooth issues !!) She has incredible skills when it comes to delivering anesthesia making the whole process almost painfree. I had been to several other dentists in the past and none were as skilled as her or had the patience/sensitivity to deal with my pain issues. She on the other hand is very kind and considerate when she works with me. And she makes the entire ordeal so much easier with her pleasant demeanor and her sense of humor ! It just feels very comfortable. She seems to have an easy going manner about her but don't be fooled - she is very smart and knows her stuff inside out. I have been seeing her for the last 10 years and will continue to do so whenever needed ... I would also like to mention that the office space is neat and clean and feels welcoming. Booked online. They don't answer their phones, don't return emails. No update on their website. Finally get a call back the day of my appointment-- "sorry we are closed on Fridays now" even though their website says they are open and I was able to electronically book an appointment on that day showing availability! Marna Mae Longakit has been my dentist for several years. It has always been a pleasure getting the benefit of a professional exam, treatment and dental cleaning! I am impressed with all precautions she has been taking and now with COVID-19 I saw her October 6, 2020 and could be very relaxed, as she and her personal assistant followed all safety measures. I strongly and whole-heartedly recommend her dentistry for all. I do not believe some bad reviews she has received, as these folks most likely intend to give her a bad rating out of an - un- or partially-truthful -experience, she absolutely does NOT deserve.... As far as I know, she goes all out to make every patient happy! She would be definitely open to discuss any issue regarding discrepancies in billing, if these might come up for somebody in rare occasions. read more

The Good: Their office takes Medi-cal for adult patients which is rare in this area. They use vaseline on the lips to prevent chaffing during their work. The Bad: I found the dentist to be rude. She also suggested I needed some pretty heavy operations on my teeth that I was very skeptical of. So I got a second opinion and what they said was very different. read more

And yes, Dr. Longakit is as good as it gets, not only as a dentist, but as a caring person. She is incredibly friendly and has been welcoming every time we see her. She is thorough with everything, from x-rays and cleaning, to advising on how to best brush and floss. Her brushing advice was personally directed after she saw that I wasn't doing such a good job with certain areas of my teeth. And she made sure to emphasize that I should floss then brush. My previous experiences with dentist was them checking the work the hygenist did, but Dr. Longakit does all the work personally, so she knows first-hand what's going on. I saw one Yelp comment that claimed Dr. Longakit was rude, and I cannot fathom where that came from. Every time my husband and I have visited her office, she is incredibly warm. She has a big smile for us and always comes out to the front of the office to say hello. And best of all, she is so reassuring - such a trait is important to me as we grow older and face aging teeth issues. I have the deepest respect for her and her abilities. We are ECSTATIC that we found her. And here's the kicker: we travel 25 miles one way to see her, and we are happy to do so for such wonderful care. read more

I was moving north without a dentist in mind. My dental experience in San Diego was the worst. The doctor was not professional at all. So I was hesitate and skeptical. Then I came to Olive Tree. I was welcome from the moment I went into the office. Ana the receptionist was very professional to get all my info down. Her paper with was very efficient. Albert the assistant was very attentive. They both were efficient and made you feel at home. Dr. Longakit was down to earth and explained to me the condition of my teeth. And then offered me a plan I agree to. She worked on my teeth vigorously for 45 minutes. I highly recommended her work and service. She always did the job herself with Albert as the assistant. My visit was one happy one. I had a terrible experience here. They told me the price of everything was going to be 1000, then AFTER they drilled my mouth full of holes they told me it was going to be more than 7000. They NEVER told me the 1000 was per tooth. Now I have to have 2 teeth pulled because the drilling they did made them so weak that they cracked. YELP posted my review on Olive Tree twice. I don't know why but I love them both times. I found out about Olive Tree Dental through a friend who raved about it. Over 20 years, I have always taken great care of my teeth with my dentist of over 20 years. He recently retired so I was looking for someone new. Yesterday, I scheduled with a different dentist and did not tell him about my history. After x-rays he took a look in my mouth for literally 2 seconds and told me I needed a deep cleaning for $1500.00. Then he looked at my x-rays and said I needed 2 crowns and a special filling. Total of nearly $5000.00. But having just seen my previous dentist before he retired, I knew that was all garbage. He was not honest and just looking to charge me a lot. So I asked my friend who told me about Olive Tree. I YELPED them like I do everything and decided to make an appointment. Boy, am I glad that I did. Dr Mae took extensive x-rays and proceeded to give me a fantastic cleaning. She said I did not need a deep cleaning and even showed me how to floss and brush better. No one has ever done a better cleaning on my teeth, they look brand new. Then she looked at my x-rays and said I need one new crown and a filling but that she would work with me on my insurance where the other dentist would not. Dr Mae is great. Her office is small and cozy. Her helpers are really nice and friendly. She is not real media / YELP savvy but I know she will be in the future. For doctors and dentists it is hard on YELP because a lot of people only use it to complain, not praise. It is really hard for dentists because there is fear and pain involved. Dr Mae actually put Vaseline on my lips before cleaning them to reduce any rubbing and after she was done, she gave me a flouride treatment. No other dentist has every done these things and I go to the dentist a lot. Amazing service. I have nearly 700 reviews on YELP, and I don't mess around, this is a totally honest review. If I had any issues with Dr Mae, I would have written about them. Dr Mae is now my permanent dentist. She is nice, honest and professional. I looked on the other YELP reviews before calling Dr Mae and noticed most were from reviewers who only had a few reviews or billing issues. So I only went to Olive Tree for two appointments before I quit going and asked to be taken off their client list. Why, you ask? The biggest reason is because Dr. Longakit is rude. One example is, during my first appt there, after one of the staff turned on the overhead light when I was in the dentist chair, I noticed that it was too bright for me, so I politely asked her if I could get up and get my sunglasses from my bag quickly before resuming, and in response she bitched and complained about how I was wasting her time by asking her these kinds of questions like getting items from my bag to help me be more comfortable during the appt (just before that, I had asked her if I could put in some earplugs because one of the devices was sitting right next to my ear and it was really loud, so that's why I asked about that, and she said it was ok, which is why she responded negatively to my asking if I could get my sunglasses, but that's still no excuse for being rude in my opinion). Another example is, during my second appt, while I was getting a couple of cavities filled, I kept sighing a lot during the procedure because it was the first procedure like this that I had received since well before lockdown, so I wasn't used to it. During a brief break in the procedure, she asked me if the reason I was sighing so much was because I was blaming her for my cavities, which makes absolutely NO sense at all! I told her that, no, that was NOT the reason I was sighing so much, but I didn't want to state the reason I was sighing so much in the moment because I was afraid things would have escalated, so I left it at that afterwards. The second reason I stopped going to Olive Tree for my dental needs is because both times the staff worked on me (first for a deep cleaning during my first appt and cavity fillings for my second) was because they kept using my chest as a table on which to place their dental tools while they were working on me! And there were a few times when they would pick up the tools on my chest when their fingers accidentally grazed my chest area in what I felt were weird an inappropriate ways, even though I knew it was accidental. It made me feel a little uncomfortable. They really shouldn't be using their clients' chests as "tables" to rest their tools on, and instead use *actual* tables instead, so that they don't accidentally touch their clients in inappropriate ways while they're working on their teeth! The third reason is, a few hours after my cavity filling appt, I felt a small chip come off of one of my teeth seemingly on its own, though it was still partially attached to the tooth. A while after I think I accidentally swallowed it, because I stopped feeling that loose tooth chip after a while. So I decided to cancel my next appt (which was going to be a second cavity filling session) at the same time that I asked to no longer be a client at Olive Tree because I didn't want to take any more risks with my teeth. I would absolutely NOT recommend Olive Tree Dental to others for the above reasons, and instead to take your money elsewhere. read more

Dr. Longakit is a very nice person, without a doubt, but my dental experience is such that I just can't recommend her as a dentist. The first issue was during a deep cleaning -- when a tooth that was moving slightly turned out to be broken and this came up during the process as I was in the chair, leading to an unpleasant surprise. But I'm not a dentist and thus don't know what should or shouldn't be identified before really digging in...so I let that situation ride. The pricing seemed a but high, but not over the top crazy high. Then I went in to get a rear molar removed. I'm on a very limited budget, so getting an implant or root canal was out of the question to start, especially for a back tooth. The extraction didn't go terribly smoothly, it seemed, and some noises were made about how they really should have charged for a 'surgical extraction' rather than just a normal extraction. So that they made my wife and I feel like they'd gone the extra mile... After two weeks had passed I was still experiencing some odd pain from the extraction site, primarily if I touched it or put pressure on that area. I was still marking it up to the recovery process when I got brave enough to actually chew some food in that area... and out came a giant tooth fragment. I'm not talking about something tiny or gritty, I am, quite literally, talking about something the size of a fingernail clipping! The relief and ability to chew and whatnot was virtually immediate; within a couple of days the discomfort was down 90%, easily. My feeling is that one strike everyone gets, and with the first situation it's entirely possible that there was nothing any dentist could have spotted beforehand.... but that level of trust was totally undermined by the second mistake, for which in my mind is straight up an error. We won't be returning to Olive Tree and Dr. Longakit, that's for sure...while it's great to have a nice dentist, it's more important to have a great dentist. read more
