Smithereen is our Pest control company here at Northwestern University Residential Services/Operational Service, I have been in this department for 12 years and I have never experienced a more professional, knowledgeable and dependable Exterminator as Nestor Fuentes. I never have to worry when I give him a Work Order, he treats the area and gives a full report on the date,time and findings! His detail to his work makes my Job so much easier and I'm able to give the complainant/Student/Staff a full and accurate report on their unit and the method in which the area was treated. His attentiveness to his job and his expertise of the products he uses reassures me that the job will be done in a precise and timely matter. Overall Smithereen has always proven to be a Great company and Nestor an outstanding Employee that always goes above and beyond to do take care of our work orders with timeliness and efficiency. This company rocks! We had a new roof put on a few months ago and the roofers didn't do a good job of sealing off the exterior and we eventually got a little squirrel family up in the attic. The roofers came back to seal off the roof, but one brave soldier stood his ground and didn't leave. Well, he was trapped and so began trying to chew his way out to meet up with his family on the outside. He failed in this attempt. Then he found his way all the way down to the laundry room! I walked in on him drinking a cold one out of the fridge! Dammit I said, this has to end. So I called Smithereen and they were very knowledgeable and friendly. Kevin came over at 8 in the morning and then came back a few hours later to pick up the caged monster, He was a fearful looking rodent, but Kevin was very professional and not afraid. Let this be a message to the family of the brave squirrel: "You drink my beer and you will pay for it" Thanks Smithereen!! Seriously, this is a great company. My god send exterminator Greg (GLS) arrived calm and cool and immediately reassured me that after three treatments he would get rid of them for GOOD! He took his time and like a private investigator was EXTREMELY thorough with his inspection and treatment, from outlets, baseboards, dressers and was very specific in explaining everything he was doing and an any activity he saw in each room! i recently had a problem with bed bugs in my apartment, i called the managment and they called smithereen to come and inspect my apartment, the tech. damien m. was there on time and did a full inspection of my unit, when he was done he said i did not have an infestation and he found were the bed bugs were coming from. damien m. and carlos h. did the treatment of my apartment, they were on time for the treatment, they were carefull on moving furniture to make sure they covered all areas were bed bugs could come in to the apartmment, they inspected my daughters toys and play area to make sure they were no bed bugs hiding, that was excellent because the safety of my daughter is very important to us. these two techs are very professional and will go out of their way to do a great job so families can feel safe and free of bed bugs. very satisfied with the work done by damien m. and carlos h. read more

We have used Smithereen Pest Management service for over a year. Some moved into our Condo and brought roaches. We tried another service who did nothing to combat the problem. We called Smthereen and we saw an imrovement within the first week. Our building is roach free now. At our last board meeting everyone was commenting on what a good job Dean Martinez, our Pest conrol guy has done. It was not only annoying, it was embarrassing. We even had them in the hallway. Now, our building is free of bugs and any other pest that we might not have even known about. We are all happy wiith the results. Undoubtedly, one of the most courteous, personable and professional pest control companies in Chicago. I was notified that my building was infected with roaches and mice. This was due to tenants leaving their back doors open for pets and garbage left on porches. My building did not notify me because I am just a renter. Nor was my landlord notified. I was able to speak with Linda who was so sweet and calming. I was freaking out since I heard of this issue. I do not do well with rodents or bugs. I called Smithereen and spoke to Linda. She was able to accommodate me and actually give me some tips to keep me sane. She was so supportive and actually cared about my well-being. I recommend this company highly! read more

We had a squirrel that built a nest in between the screen and the window of our second story bathroom. The receptionist at Smithereen gave me accurate basic info, and then Kevin, the technician, actually called to schedule the appointment that HE would keep himself. Kevin was extremely courteous and obviously honest in all that he said and did. He did a wonderful job, was prompt and thorough, and patient in answering all of our questions, even if some were hypothetical about if the squirrels would come back. I give 5 stars primarily because of Kevin's professional demeanor, but overall we are 100% satisfied with all that they did. I manage a 107 unit Senior Citizen Building, and Smithereen has been our pest management company for several years. I am beyond satisfied with their service to this point, especially their general pest control. Our regular technician is Lenny Kerlew, he is punctual, attentive, diligent, and knowledgeable. Our residents sometimes are not too happy about seeing an exterminator, or about the idea of their apartment being inspected. I have been a restaurant owner for over 20 years. Until I started using Smithereen, over a year ago, we have never been completely bug free. ( There was always the occasional fruit fly, mouse, etc..) The old adage that all restaurants have roaches is FALSE. Lenny is our technician and he couldn't be any better. He takes personal pride in his work and the results! He doesn't just come every few weeks and do his job mindlessly. He asks questions and follows up on any previous concerns. My work uses Smithereen for pest control. I haven't noticed any issues with them. My workplace has us working in a lot of really old buildings, which bugs seem to love, so pest control is really important here. The technician assigned to my building (Nestor) is particularly wonderful. He is so attentive! I have a ridiculous phobia of carpenter ants, and he always comes right away whenever I call. I feel safe from terrifying ants as long as he's around. Plus, added bonus, he's always been so personable and friendly, I really enjoy when he comes to check on us. He's awesome! read more

We had Smithereen come in and conduct an inspection for us. Our technician Chris was really good. He let us know exactly when he'd be at our place with enough time for us to prepare. When he arrived, he explained what he was going to do and was really patient in answering all of our questions. So far, my experience has been pretty great. My boyfriend and i are trying to get rid of a roach problem in his parents house. The sales rep answered any and all questions we had and came out 2 days later. We had David as an exterminator and he was so great. We were very embarassed about the problem and he made it seem like this is normal. He went so above and beyond for us im so blessed. He gave us all the tips he could. He was so patient. Smithereen has been servicing our historical 3-story "mansion" in Lincoln Park for many years. Our representative is Jerry Johnson and he does a terrific job. He services our building once a month (a must in the city) greets us by name, and is always cheerful and willing to go the extra mile to catch the vermin. I have been working here for over three years and I swear I have never seen a bug or mouse indoors. Outdoors is another subject but, as I said, we're in the city and near restaurants.
