It was that biennial time of the year for my smog check. Booo to you DMV during these hard times! I called around several places for quotes, which ranged from $60-$50. I decided on this place since it was the closest to my house. When I arrived there were a couple cars in front of me: one the technician was working on and another waiting to be worked on. You can understand my skepticism when he said he would be with me in 10 minutes or so. I was surprised when he was done with both cars in about 15 minutes! My car was done in about 10. He charged me $45, but when I mentioned the coupon by other Yelpers on smogtips, he was kind enough to knock off $5 even though I didn't print out the coupon. So if you want that guaranted $10 off, print it out! This was a virtual pain free experience and I would recommend this to everyone! read more

Someone did mention on a previous post that an employee stole his AC knob lever, but from my experience, an employee found a dollar that I left in my car and returned it back to me. I have been sending car to this station for smog test for 10 years. My mom took her car for a smog test. It is a regular smoke test, NOT a Star one. She was charged $78 even after the $10 coupon for her small compact car. The invoice shows Smog Inspection $60, Smog Certificate $8 and OIS $20. But in the past, the electronic certificated is included in the price. I also saw a yelp review in mid May 2018 that the price was $40. Are you charging senior ladies more? read more

All the other reviews seem to be 5 stars. I don't give 5 star reviews of anything unless they are really amazing -- there would have to be something pretty special to get 5 stars for a smog check. I got a quick smog check with no wait. The guy working there (only employee?) was nice. I brought a coupon for $10 off from smogtips.com as someone else mentioned. If you bring a coupon, be sure to present it at the beginning and not after the smog check is done. He was actually going to give me $5 off even though I didn't ask for it and hadn't shown him the coupon yet. The main reason I went here (besides the coupon, which made it like $4 cheaper than the other place I called) is that they were open until 6pm and said they would let me come in as late as 5:45. It's nice that the price they advertise includes all the DMV related fees. Some places are not as honest about that. read more

Reasonable price and very, very quick. Phong is only guy there and the waiting room is very spartan, but you're in and out and on with your day very quickly. My only gripe is that I got there on a Friday morning at 9:05am (Yelps says "Mon-Fri 9 am - 5:30 pm") and had to wait almost 30 minutes before he finally arrived to open up shop. To me, a smog check is a smog check, and I'd rather pay less than more. I don't need a fancy waiting room with leather chairs, People magazine or a vending machine. Just a smog check, done quickly and professionally. So 5 stars to Discount Smog Center for offering a $40 smog check (using the coupon) in about 20 minutes on a Saturday afternoon, even with two customers ahead of me. Stay away from this guy if you did any work on changing the O2 sensors. Mine failed because i didnt have a O2 that was connectorized. Smog passed, everything passed except this. He has a simple mind, Told to go get the connectorized O2 sensor. What? all i did was move the splice to where you cannot see it and i passed. But all he could say was go get the write O2 sensor. Duh. no check engine, passed the sniff test, why would I spend over $100 to get another sensor when it works. Also he can't do the math. Accepts the $10 discount, but it would have cost me $40 (usually $45). Like i said, simple minded. Will never go back to him again. read more

Just got my car smogged here. They do good work and perform every test possible and checked every thing that they could possibly check. The only draw back is that they do not owner their own coupon. They advertise a ten dollar off but they wanted to give me 5 dollar of. They finally gave it to me after some yelling and getting the owner involved. But needless to say, they do accurate work. read more

This viet cat is an ass! I waited 30 minutes just for him to see my engine light was on. He pretty much kicked me out.. "no no I no fix, you go mechanic wont pass bye!" I go to another place and adivse dude the light was on, since the car was a 95 he could still smog it. The law is 96 and up you cant smog with the light on.. A$$hole lost my business... Besides whats up with all those boxes with computer stuff on the loft above the shop floor..?? What kind of operation is this fool running? So I was looking for a new place to smog test our cars (2 come up at the same time) and one needed to have a Star test. A friend recommended here so gave it a try yesterday. First, it's a hole in the wall as far as its location. I almost missed the opening in the fence that leads to it, but luckily the gps (and having seen the photo on Yelp) allowed me to turn in at the proper location. I was barely out of my car when the tech came over and took my paperwork, coupon, and keys while directing me to the small waiting area. I bumped into the owner there and was talking about a variety of things (he details cars too!) and in just a few minutes the tech came by and said it was done. I don't think I've ever experienced someone so quick from start to finish. I enjoyed the experience and the cost was standard for this type of testing. I'll be heading back next week with the second car. This is my new go-to place for smog checks (and I'll have to see about his detailing the "nice" car). read more

The photographed pricing from 2013 is still in effect - I paid $70 for a STAR smog test with a $10 evaporative test fee (required for my older model vehicle). The place is indeed nothing pretty to look at on the outside, but in an industrial area that doesn't concern me - the worker I spoke with was courteous, friendly, and very dedicated to the task. Mine cost $88.50 like everyone else. $60 smog check, $8 fee, $20 fee since they use a new machine on the newer model cars (anything after 1990 I think they said). My car didn't pass the emission test the first time (I wasn't really expecting it to) but after running the tests and get it checked .Robert quickly figured out that the car just need to get warmed up , so he asked me to drive it for about 20mn and came back and test it again. I went and drove my car as recommended came back to the station and then the car passed all the tests without any issue. If not for Yelp, I believe the known existence of these little businesses would be minimal. I called up Discount Smog Center to say that I couldn't print the coupon for some reason and he said to just remind him so I can still get the $40 rate. He also didn't add on to the $40 when I told him I had a '95 Ford Aerostar. Anything "95 or older usually cost more because they are a little harder to do. They are quick, friendly, honest and inexpensive. What more can you ask for? read more

i write this review cause my experience wasn't bad at all to help these guys out. needed a smog check for renewal so i went here b/c the last few were closer to $60~70 with everything and they had a 29.75 deal online coupon. i almost missed the turn and there was a car coming out and a car behind me which kinda made a mess for a bit but that was sorted (note there's only gate space for a single car in and out and it's a fast turn in on a busy street). there was a bunch of cars and they quened my car into their line and it took a while but it got the job done, i did mention the coupon (i took a picture of it) and i got the discount, btw it would've been closer to 70 without just a small warning, they accepted this no complaint. smog checked fine in like 50 mins and paid and max tipped (unsure if this type of business tips but i got no problem since i saved a lot already and they did a fine job). i think i spent $45 with price they advertised + certificate charge of 8 something + 7 something tip. things to note that i seen, the turn in is fast and on a busy street and there may be a car coming out. it's a 2 man operation and they cycle through fast but they also maneuver the multiple cars around the limited space as needed to get their customers in and out. it will take some time as they advertise pretty decently so they got a lot of customer flow. unsure if there is customer restrooms (might be or just for them?). mention the offer unless ur ok with paying full price too i searched online and it says it should cost average $30~ or your overpaying the price i saw on their invoicing system was -$40 so u'll be paying a lot if u don't mention it (at the time i write this there is a 29.75 coupon btw for newer cars). off topic but related - might want to change your engine air intake filter (do this yourself, search for a video), change your oil, fill up on better gas and or change ur transmission oil (prob just skip this) to help pass a smog test if ur cars iffy on passing this. read more
