Kudos to Smog Wizard. I had the best experience at this business today! Not only was this business ADA accessible to persons with disabilities - I had a knee brace on and could not walk normal; another woman was there, her and I both had canes, disabled placards and we were able to walk in and out of lobby/building without any issues. The man at the counter told me it would be 30 minutes to smog my vehicle and true to his word he smogged it and was back at the window to check me out in 27 minutes. Also, after the man smogged my car, he kindly pulled it into the disabled parking spot at the front so I did not have to walk far. Thank you for doing a great job and your excellent customer service! It is much appreciated. I hope the owner is aware and passes on the kudos. We will return to this place when needed. read more

Awful place: the waiting room is dirty and unkempt. The technician, Irfan, is dumb and unfriendly. The prices are $30 MORE expensive than everywhere else. They are NOT the only place open on a Sunday either. I would skip this place. read more

This place was a solid smog station with little wait and responsive employees that were very nice. I called ahead to see if I needed a reservation and they told me there was no wait and that I could come right in. When I got there I was first in line and just beat 2 more through the door. So I was glad to have gotten there when I did. There is plenty of seating and the employees were really nice and took car of my car and my smog inspection needs. I'm glad I went there and would go again. Remember that smog inspection places aren't the ritz so don't expect white glove treatment. It's conveniently located right next to a Home Depot and down the street from a quick quack so I got a bunch of chores done all at once. I will go back here again. read more

These people are odd. I have taken my van (camper van) there three times in previous years and had it it smogged. No problem. Passed each time. I went there yesterday and they told me they wouldn't do it because it was too tall to fit in the bay. I mentioned that it had been in the bay three times before but they still insisted that it would not fit. No amount of reference to previous smog checks could convince them. To make matters worse they were very rude the whole time. read more

My car was quickly and efficiently smogged but the attendant responsible for taking my payment was rude and unprofessional. This business uses an old dial-up debit/credit card reader which couldn't read my chip. I knew my card was sound, but I didn't argue and went to the nearest ATM to withdraw the amount. When I returned, I told Luis, the attendant, that he could just punch in the credit card numbers next time. He said, "I know how to punch in the numbers but if it's declined, it's declined what do you expect me to do?" When I responded that he could have at least tried another method before inconveniencing and embarrassing his customers, he put his hand in my face and walked away. If you've read any of my other YELP reviews, you know I hate writing reviews that can negatively effect a business; however, Luis is a liability to what is an otherwise good business. read more

I was there to get a smog, I thought my car was due and I did not notice that it was not. I had to do some repairs and called, they said they would be open today, Sunday 4/19, 2009 from 9AM - 1PM. No one was there and I waited an hour. I went to another place and the guy looked at the renewal and said you did not need to smog it this year and The guy smogged it anyway and placed it under a change of ownership. It is doubtful that I will get my money back, and I will NOT ever use this place again. I have used this place for a couple of years now. NOT ever again. You should make sure you actually need a smog and if not and you miss it, they are honest enough to say, you don't need it. The places to go where the guys are honest enough to be upfront with you is ER smogs and smog champs. These are businesses to check out for yourselves. read more

Super honest and helpful. We took in our 1997 Ford Explorer and asked for the test that doesn't send info to the state. They guy said, "Don't waste your money. It's the same price and the state doesn't care if you don't pass before you do pass. So if you do pass, you'll be done." OK. We settled in for the wait. In about three minutes, the guy came in and told us that he wasn't going to take our money because it wouldn't pass anyway. He hooked up the computer and told us which sensor needed to be fixed. That was it. Free diagnostic. I told him I'll fix it and bring it back to him for the smog check. He said it's better to go to a place that does fix and smog and get it all done at once. Well . . . I hope when I take in my Forester he'll be willing to take my money! read more

BEWARE! This place has horrible service! The prices are outrageous, 90$ for a smog! Other places charge 60-70 for my car 1998. I beat myself up for coming here. It took an hour and a half and there was only one customer ahead of me! Then about 30-40 minutes in, another customer comes in and then he starts working on his car! This place is a F***ing joke! My car doesn't even pass, my fault cause check engine light was on, which I know he probably could have told me it wont pass. Then he said I can bring it back and he will charge 40$, WTF most places don't charge for another go when u don't pass the first time. What a waste of time and money! F*** this place. read more

I just recently went in to Smog Wizard, 7/13/2010 and got my vehicle smogged. I have been going to these guys for the last 5 years or more. I was initially referred to these guys by a friend, but since then I have really come to trust them and like them for their speed and honesty. I bring all 3 of my cars here. I know they charge different for trucks but I paid 50 out the door for my civic and I was there for less then 15 minutes. I just read the other comment on yelp about Smog Wizard and though I feel bad for their experience, but I will say that Smog Wizard for me and my friends has always been honest and up front. My civic when I first went their had the check engine light on. The gentlemen there approached me and stated that he wanted to be upfront and save me money and let me know that my car would not pass because the check engine light was on. I was really thankful and my mechanic even told me that it was nice of them to not smog it and charge me. I got it repaired took it back and 15 min later I was on my way with a ceritifcate. There was another customer in the waiting room with me who I shared my experience with and they said they had been coming to them for years as well and felt these guys were very honest and reliable. I will always keep using Smog Wizard. I also had a chance to meet the owner. Older bald guy named Mohammad. Really nice guys who like to talk about his Christian faith. LOL! However I was impressed when I found out they are the oldest test only in Sacramento, and first in Northern CA. Not bad guys. I guess they are the real deal. Hey if you are looking for a place that is upfront, honest and experienced, based on my time with them these guys are it. And in the automotive business you don't know who to trust. Went to Smog Wizard for another smog test. Family owned the owner has been there for 27 years and still works 40+ hours a week. They are always fast, friendly and straight forward. The owner remembers me even though I only go every few years and is very friendly and courteous. I recommend this shop to all my friends and family and personally continue to go there even after moving a good 30 minutes away. read more

I went to this loser 15 years ago and had problems then. He tried to steal my Logo from my business card. Since he was located just 1.1 miles away and the problem I had last time was last century and a millennium ago I would try them again. I called and told them the check engine light was on and that I was going to surrender the car under the State buy back program. All I needed was a failure notice. No retest, no certificate just look at the check engine light and fail. This knuckle head wanted to charge $60.00 when a regular smog with retest is only $29.99 any where else. What a ripoff. Terrible service and extremely overpriced. I got there right when they opened and the guy was sitting in his car. He saw me go inside and wait. After 15 min, I rang the bell and nothing. I got my stuff to leave and then he got out of his car and claimed he didn't see me. I was the ONLY person there, so that's odd. Then, he told me it would $68 to get my car smogged. That's extremely high, Ive never paid that much. When I told him that, he said "yeah, every place is different and you can shop around if you want" so I left. DO NOT GO HERE!!! A WASTE OF AN AFTERNOON AND 60 BUCKS!!! I returned here after a good experience 2 years ago where they took care of my smog and registration no prob. This time I was told they no longer do regi because it's " not profitable" . After waiting over an hour my test came back inconclusive bc the battery had been dead and jumped ( computer reset or something) . When I asked what we can do about it expecting them to retest it, I was told sternly " That will be fifty nine seventy five". After a colorful exchange with Singh then the owner Randy I was able to haggle the price of a retest to $5 but was repeatedly schooled that ," they did the test". After thinking about it I decided that I'm not going back, I want to do business with people who have my back and are willing to go the extra mile to do what's right. These people DO NOT HAVE YOUR BACK. I'm going to smog n go they offer a free retest (would have settled this issue) and take care of regi on site. Yes I'm so turned off that I'll pay more to start over, thank god there wasn't a bigger problem. Later Smog Wizard poor customer service is " not profitable". read more
