Best BBQ I've tasted in Maine and excellent service. Ribs and pulled pork were especially great

Driving through the area and decided to give this place a try and it was absolutely delicious! There were 6 of us and we all tried each others meals... Smash burger, chopped chicken, ribs, links, brisket, burnt ends, coleslaw, mac & cheese, fries, potato au gratin, cornbread and wings, no one had a negative thing to say. So good that the food was gone before we thought to take a few photos. Staff were welcoming. Food came out fast. Bartender was on top of it. Very clean inside and out. Plenty of seating inside and out. Sitting by the fire pit was nice. Differently worth a stop in if you are in the area but I'd even consider a road trip just to eat here!! read more

My husband and I were in Maine for a summer vacation, and my husband was in the mood for barbecue. The staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in. My husband ordered the sampler platter, as he wanted to taste everything. He was not disappointed! The pulled pork melted in our mouths, the ribs were meaty, and the chili was AMAZING! The choices of sauces offered on each table is unbelievable and each one was unique, and delicious. My husband and I moved here a year ago and decided to stop at Smoke after a beach walk. We were treated with smiles and comfort at the bar immediately. Jackie took great care of us and we shared lots of laughs. We couldn't have been happier with the food. I'm obsessed with wings and was blown away by them. We've been back so many times and have tried almost everything on the menu. You won't be disappointed if you stop here. Great food and customer service. It's a win/win! Sneaky tip added Last minute decision to stop in while driving through town. We Love BBQ. The food was good, service was good/friendly and the atmosphere was good as well. A bit pricy but eating out is now a days. One sandwich 2 beers and a 20 percent came to over $40. The only thing that annoyed me was that after paying and then looking over the receipt I noticed there is 3% added for the kitchen staff...This only came to just over a buck for our order but I didn't see this mentioned anywhere prior to ordering. We've eaten-in and ordered takeout at Smoke several times in the past year, and we've never been disappointed. The ribs are great, the cornbread is tasty, the brisket is tender and fkavorful, as is the pulled pork and the burnt ends. The fries are thin hand cut, delicious. The prices, are reasonable. Takeout is fast and accurate. The atmosphere, inside and out is neighborhood friendly. A great place, and long overdue in this area (barbecue). read more

First visit and possibly the last. I asked what the 3.25% gratuity that was added to my check (3 dinners). I was told it was a % given to the Cooks as a fare wage. The owner then came over amd was quite rude. Instead of agreeing to disagree he argued his point saying to me (customer) that I did not want to see his employees make a farewage. My reply your wages to your employees are yours, not the customers. I adjusted my tip according with the 3.25%. The owner checked how much of a tip we give and made comment while he argued a gratitude added without option to opt put. Asked what we thought of the food and I was honest 2 of us did not like the beans and thought they be doctored from a can. The Chilli was extremely spicy. The food was excellent and the service and and experience were excellent. I ordered for a Graduation Party and the kids loved it.

I ordered the 3 meat trio, which was pretty good. The ribs were tender. The pulled pork was flavorful and well cooked. The brisket was a bit dry. The macaroni was good and the corn bread was delicious. Was it worth the money though? Maybe, maybe not. The meal would've been better if it was $10-$15 cheaper. The downside was no veteran discounts and no one seemed to be in management. Youthful employees never seem to know what should be or not. So the set up was a bit different for what a normal dining experience might be. You walk in and order right at the front desk, if there is no wait. Drinks, apps, and food right there at the counter. If you ordered alcohol, the bartender will bring it to the table. The food came out with in minutes and I mean minutes. Actually to be completely honest, it was mostly cold. The food was still very good, but would've been better had it been warm immediately upon arrival. Since it's a new place, I'm sure they're still working out all the kinks and intend to try again very soon. It did give the impression that it was probably just a warming line set up, with hot tins of food. Like I said the food was still very very good. They did a great job with the inside and the atmosphere is actually pretty neat. All in all it was a great experience and just hoping the next trip will be have piping hot food! read more

Saw this place online and had to try it . Loved the atmosphere . The guy at the counter was very friendly . There's a full bar too . They had a barbecue smoker going in the parking lot . I got the 3 meat combo . My wife got the 2 meat combo . The wings for an appetizer were perfect , crispy outside and delicious inside . My ribs , pulled pork and brisket were just excellent ! They had different sauces to put on the barbecue and ideas for which sauces went best with the meats . The fries were delicious too. My wife loved her potatoes Au Gratin along with her combo meal . Customers aren't responsible for paying your staff, and are you able to document that this is where it goes? Comes off as quite sketchy. Got the burnt ends. What a find! Been to Blacks and Franklin in Austin several times, and Smoke holds up. Brisket was tender, flavorful, and perfectly portioned. Also had the chopped chicken, which wasn't drowning in sauce and not at all dry. Sides of au gratin, beans, and cornbread where a great compliment. Counter ordering was super easy and the food came out fast and hot. The 6 different sauces, with the descriptions, on the table was a nice touch. Service was fantastic. This little unassuming spot away from the downtown area packed a big punch. We stopped in originally for a quick drink, the smell of the entire establishment was so persuading we went back for dinner. This little BBQ joint did not disappoint! We ordered the smokesborg and burnt ends app, to try to have the best chance to trial the most amount of food. Everything was cooked to perfection, the sides were even amazing (we had Mac and cheese and cornbread) they paid attention to every detail. New barbecue place in Kennebunk. Interesting premise. It's a little awkward with the way they do the seating and ordering, but service is fast. When you arrive you put your name in (if there is a wait) and they will seat you when seating is available. Once seated you'll be given a menu - but then you are ready to order you to up to the front register where they'll take your order and open a tab with your credit card. They give you a table number sign to take back with you. Waitstaff will bring any drinks you ordered and will drop off your food. They will check back to see if you want more drinks (although the second time we went, service was scarce). Food: overall very good. Brisket is excellent. Chicken and pork both strong. We enjoyed the corn bread (- a little sweet) and the fries are solid. We did NOT like the potato au gratin - gross - replace with mac and cheese. Cole slaw was good - creamy but not too creamy. Price is on the high side for the amount of food you get. Sides are small. Food was cold Mac n cheese was like glue. Meat is tasty! But they need to work on their portions & sides could bet a great place but they are still new I guess. Very chaotic to order! Very loud & crowded but it's a small venue. We decided to give SMOKE a try because of the type of food they serve and because they're new to the area. They opened at 4 and we arrived shortly thereafter to be told they were already out of burnt ends and brisket. Ok, so we ordered pulled pork, ribs, potatoes and baked beans. Both types of meat were much too salty, the beans and potatoes were just ok. A glass of wine was too expensive at this type of place, $13.00/glass! We will try them again, without the wine, because we like to go at least on more time in case it was just an off day read more
