I didn't get into the whiskey flights, but it's obvious from what's on offer that somebody knows their way around a few bourbon bottles. Sauces in the table were excellent with a balanced classic BBQ and a Carolina Mustard that had more vinegar kick than standard. Great taste. The sides: Mac n cheese was classic and creamy. Corn pudding on point and the potato salad with bacon is everything that has been written about in other reviews. Excellent. But for me, the test is always the collard greens. Perfectly cooked (for hours of satisfaction), salty, with the slight sweet vinegar kick you remember from granny's table. Collards for the sides had a good flavor but a LOT of large stems. My wife had the lean brisket. Tasted "off" for some reason. Almost like they had added liquid smoke to either the meat and e the sauce. Not good. Ordered the nachos appetizer which came out almost as soon as we ordered. Crazy fast. Food followed not long after. Within maybe 3 minutes of the appetizer. May not have ordered the appetizer if we knew the food was going to come out so quickly. The kitchen staff must have REALLY been on the ball. Parking is a huge problem. In this area. Maybe some locals have some tips. Road around what appeared to be available parking maybe 5 or 6 times. This was a really great barbecue spot to go to because the food is really good and it's in downtown Alpharetta. Parking was a bit of an adventure but other than that, it was accessible and close by other restaurants and shops. The service was nice, it was a bit of a wait so we sat at a table out front. There was a nice breeze and the building and umbrella provided additional shade. I ate my fried green pickles with a delicious creole mayo dip. We ordered a pulled chicken sandwich with a side of mashed sweet potatoes and burnt ends with mac and cheese. Our waitress was nice but she seemed a bit young and not as attentive in the beginning. She had stopped near our table three times before we received our waters and she forgot the lemons I asked for. We didn't get a chance to eat our main dishes outside due to bees so we went and sat inside. The pulled chicken sandwich and burnt ends were amazing. The mashed sweet potatoes could've used some brown sugar and maybe marshmallow to add flavor because the potatoes weren't as sweet as I expected. The bar area at some point had live music roll in which was cool. We sampled a little of everything on the menu from the fried greens tuhmaters to the burn my tips and the pulled pork. I came across this place on yelp and decided to go here because of the ratings. First off -- it's located in downtown Alpharetta, so no parking is associated with their building. Have to drive around and find parking along the streets. When we walked in, we noticed how clean the place was -- two thumbs up for that!! My waitress was nice, but a little slow. We barely saw our waitress, even when we try to find her. Of course I ordered their loaded fries since that was the reason why I came here and it was AMAZING. I loved every bite of it. It was crispy and cheese. Definitely please go there for that!! Just ONLY that. My friends and I ordered the Holy Trinity since we came with a lot of meats and sides. We honestly did not like any of the meats. They were dry and not really good on the flavor profile. I tried putting a lot of their bbq sauce on it to make it better, but the meat still tasted dry and the bbq sauce of theirs was alright. This was a true disappointment. I also tried the burnt ends (since it seems to be a very popular item) but I'm not sure that I was that crazy about them. I'd likely try the ribs next time. As for the sides, the pimento cheesy grits are a definite must! So glad the waitress recommended it. I tried one of their cocktails but found it to be a bit too sweet. There's really nothing about Smokejack that I didn't like. We came in a little before 8:00 pm on a Saturday night with no reservation and were given a 25-30 minute wait timeframe, which is less than what we were expecting. We walked next door to get a beer and just as we had ordered, I got the text saying a table was ready. The beer place was kind enough to pour our drinks in plastic cups and Smokejack was cool about us bringing them in. We ordered the Texas Infinity (or something similar) which we split along with an order of fried pickles. All of the meats and sides (baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and corn pudding) were amazing. We also got a side of burnt ends since that wasn't one of the proteins that was included. We got a banana pudding to go and it was one of the best I've ever had, and we ate it a day later. This is definitely a great choice not just for Alpharetta but the Atlanta area in general. Wow, talk about some good BBQ! I'm from Texas - we take our BBQ seriously - so when I say this was damn good, it was DAMN GOOD! Started with some chips & queso and some incredible fried pickles while we waited. Then for my entree I had two sausage links - one smoke house and one cheddar (though I wish I would've gotten them both cheddar because that was my favorite of the two!). It came with two sides and I chose Mac&cheese and mashed sweet potatoes. Man, those mashed sweet potatoes were amazing!! I was thinking of doing the grilled vegetable mix although it had tomatoes in the mixture which I found odd so I went with the sweet mash instead. Glad I chose them! Our server was very sweet and although it was crazy busy while we were there, I feel like everything went smoothly and came out in a timely manner. When we arrived, we were told a 45 minute wait so we gave them our number and chilled at the brewery next door while waiting.
