I went with a very large group and my server really worked his butt off to provide good service but when my nachos came out the chicken on it was severely undercooked. I don't care how good the service is, you can't out serve salmonella. I immediately sent my food back and got the Mac n cheese. Looked like they had just thrown shredded cheese on top of pasta a few seconds before bringing it out. You wont get weird looks when you order a salad at a bbq place, but you will be upset that your salad costs more than the burgers and the same prize as ribs. I had the nutty salad for dinner which is mixed greens, feta cheese, the best candied pecans I've ever had, dried cranberries, red onions and strawberries, topped with grilled chicken. It normally comes with honey mustard dressing but I opted for balsamic on the side. The salad was large and to avoid gouring myself, I split it in half and still had a substantially sized dinner. The service was super slow here. There was a table of 5 of us, and I think we easily waited over an hour for our food. The waitress apologized and said that the kitchen was slammed. I think its just a smokey bones thing as I've been to the greenbrier location and its equally just as slow. OMG!! Went there just a little while ago. Wanted BBQ ribs. They did not disappoint! From the minute I walked in till the moment I walked out I was satisfied. The customer service was amazing! The food was good. But my waitress Leana and the cooks are AMAZING! She didn't take all the credit. She gave credit to the cook as well. Will definitely be back. Food was delicious. Came here on a Friday night around 10. Always passed by this place and finally gave in on trying Smokey Bone's out. Music that plays on the inside plays on the outside too. When I got there it was techno house music, not really my cup of my tea but later on their played hip hop and r&b and everyone was getting their grove on. It has a modern cabin feel. Dark lit, huge bar in the middle with flat screens all around. Three huge sections of seating all over. No problem for big groups. Our server Kortnee came right away, ordered a pitcher of Yeung Ling which was only $7 bucks SCORE. The pitcher fills up 4 glasses. Cornbread: from the appetizer section comes in a round 5 inch deep dish pan with butter on the side. Big, cakey, and sweet made the way I like. I had take the rest togo. Double Trouble Ribs: I got the half rack Baby Backs with brown sugar and St. Louis with original sauce. Both were tender and sweet. I liked the original sauce a little bit more. Comes with toast. And for the two sides I tried their mac and coleslaw. Mac n Cheese: it was okay, it was dry and it lacked flavor, I wouldn't get it next time. Coleslaw: the sauce was light, airy, and creamy and the vegetables were cut consistently small almost string like, easier to down. I also dipped the ribs in the sauces they already had on the table. My favorite was the chipotle BBQ and Carolina sauce. Overall, I had a nice relaxing time, enjoying the vibes from everyone around. I oredered the sliced chicken and 1/2 bbq chicken. For sides, I had broccoli, mashed potatoes, cinnamon apples, and corn. The sliced chicken was good, but the amount of meat included was pretty poor-- definitely less than 1/2 a chicken breast. In addition, the barbecue chicken was not cooked as thoroughly as I would have liked. The sides were to my liking, except the corn. It looked like there was some type of pork/meat fat or skin in the corn. Disgusting! I do not eat pork, but even if I did, I would not like foreign food in my meal. 1. Are pieces of food being dropped into other dishes or containers as it's being handled? 2. Are the same utensils being used on different food items? 3. Are containers or utensils not being cleaned properly? Those are the only possibilities that I can think of as to why a piece of meat would be in my corn... neither of them makes me feel comfortable about the situation. Luckily, I am not allergic to whatever was in it. I just find it very disgusting and will be reluctant to go back in the future. Claiming that they couldn't see us in the corner we're we sat bc it was to dark (Racist). On Oct 4tj my Door Dash order was incorrect, I contacted Door Dash which they didn't offer a refund or helped other than a credit of $6 So I contacted thre Va Beach location explained that I order a 16 piece smoked wings but received fried wings drizzled with a sauce. The employee couldn't find the order but talked to a manager & they offered me to come in anytime to get the same order I'd ordered. I don't have transportation so I got a friend to take me yesterday Oct 15 the young ladies at the desk were very nice & professional couldn't find my name up front so they got the manager who proceeded asking me why I needed help, I explained that my order was incorrect & he asked who I'd talked to, of course I couldn't remember her name. So with that he refused to correct the complaint that I had reported, as if I was lying over food that was incorrect. He was telling me how DoorDash always contacts them if there's a complaint (which means that store must have lots of complaints . We went back & forth of course I was upset. I' moved to Norfolk about a week & a half ago and I've ordered from Smokey Bones 10x per my Door Dash history. The way this situation was handled & may I say in front of several staff & customers was insulting and embarrassing! Your manger even refused to repeat his name & walked away. Yes I was upset & yes I was loud by the cold response he gave, but for a manager of a restaurant to treat a customer as a liar or a fraud, anyone would have been loud. I at this time will never ever order or eat at another Smokey Bones restaurant again & my friends who were waiting for me all refuse to come back. I have praised your restaurant and food on all of my social media outlets even posting the food. I've been followed by two of your restaurants on Instagram recently. I always enjoyed coming here and have the pleasure dining in. It's been awhile and I am extremely excited to be here because I know that I am getting good and delicious food. Its busy tonight thankfully we were directly seated and served. I'm also delighted to place a 5 star ratings with regards to this place. I believe Smokey Bones deserves to be rated high despite being categorized as a chain restaurant. I have never seen a place like this before that the standard and consistency of the food and hospitality is remarkable. As for tonight visit, I ordered the create of your own combo; a meat platter consisting of pulled pork, spiced sausages and smoked chicken wings with a side of mashed potato with brown gravy, steamed brocolli and garlic bread. I thought the entire meal was perfectly well seasoned and tasted divine. The pulled pork was tender and juicy. The sausages and chicken wings was cooked to perfection. I truly enjoyed every bite of it. The portion is extremely generous and can be served for two people. Sad to say I can't make it to the dessert round but I strongly suggest to try my ultimate favourite leaning chocolate tower. You won't be disappointed. One thing that I love about this branch is the terrific customer service. The staff is very attentive and polite. Its amazing how the always make happy and filled my heart desire. I'm not a fan of chain restaurants but Smokey Bones hosts and feeds like its a local joint. I've come in several times and never been disappointed. For those that read my reviews you know that I'm always looking for a great BBQ joint. Tonight I had the Double Trouble platter which is two sections of 1/3 rack of ribs. I also had sides of fried apples and onion rings. It's heavenly, BBQ and fries food! The ribs were perfect. A nice crust of caramelized crust with a smoky ring. I also love the sauce options. My favor is the mustard BBQ sauce and a close second is the Carolina sauce. Both are tangy with vinegar and finish with a nice spice. The service here is first rate. I always look forward to coming here and then thinking of coming back. read more

Comfy inside the restaurant. 90% of the time me and my husband leave happy and satisfied. Then again, my favorite is their quarter bbq chicken, its hard to order something else when you know ordering their chicken bbq is always very good. This chicken is always very juicy, good flavor on the meat and sweet salty chicken skin. Every time I order this its always so good. In fact, my recent visit unfortunately they ran out of the chicken, which I don't blame them coz I know its that good. I ordered their grilled Salmon instead, I'd rate it about 3.5 for its flavor and texture. They have pretty good cocktail drinks for taste, a good buzz esp after long day of work or just to have a good time. Just ask the servers for the popular and favs, they are usually satisfying. 5/6/21 Got off a plane on first leg of a vacation in VA and found this place close to our hotel. Best rack of pork back ribs (1/3, 2/3, or full lb.) I've had in years, anywhere. My wife agreed. Ants on the table and food. We have eateb here probably 3 times in the last few months. At a variety of locations. Always getting the loaded fries and more. We sat down and spotted an ant right away. Ew, but it was a slow night and our server wasnt around to move us. We caught it with a napkin. No big deal. We did spot a second one. But it was on the wall touching our booth, not our booth itself this time. Got our starter- and this is again our loaded fries. Ordered a bbq tray for 3 and most of it came out cold. There was no where near enough food to feed 3 folks and it was relatively expensive considering the quality and amount of food on a grill where everything kept falling in a grate to the bottom of the thing. There was a charcoal briquette in the middle that filled half the dining hall up with smoke.. not good hickory smoke, acrid smoke. Our food took an unusual amount of time to come out 40 min I would estimate and needless to say we weren't happy with the whole experience. Not a big reviewer but hope they get their act together managing this place or karma may put them out of business before too long. Good luck if you try this place people! read more

Disappointing. I ordered online for pickup/to-go. I've been here several times during the pandemic and it seems to have gone downhill over time. I ordered Baby Back Ribs/Broccoli/Fire-Roasted Corn. When the young lady handed me my bag, I asked if they tossed in silverware and she responded that they were out of utensils until tomorrow. Wow. The ribs weren't Baby Backs....so that was disappointing. I didn't go back inside--I just needed to eat and get on with my evening. The broccoli was mushy and flavorless. The sauce (brown sugar glaze) on the ribs was "okay" but nothing to write home about. The corn was pretty good...again, nothing really special. The ribs seemed like they were leftovers from the day before. Mind you, I picked up at 5:55pm...so, prime time dinner hour. They were not tender....and again that sauce was just ok. There were parts of my ribs that were absolutely too tough to deal with. I am fairly certain that I'm not going back to this location. I wouldn't be surprised if they were to shut the doors on this place within a year or two. read more
