Mediocre wings, mediocre service. All disappointing actually. I ordered a vodka cranberry and didn't taste any alcohol so I sent it back. The next one tasted exactly the same. I can move past that...ordering a mixed drink at a beer place probably wasn't my smartest move. I digress....next was the endless wings after nine. The first batch were good. The next batch came out on a small plate that was extremely hot. I was handed the plate by the server and dropped it on the table from how hot it was. No warning, no apology. Came with my wife. I ordered 4 smoked wings and 4 buffalo. They were ok. Not as big as they advertised and the smoked wings were a bit too blackened imo. Price was almost $12 for 8 wings which is on the high side for wings. Also got 1 drink refill but then didn't see waitress again all night. My wife got the chicken tacos which she liked. I really wanted to give 5 stars however our server Mya was very poor. We had been seated for almost 10 min before she came to our table to see what we wanted to drink at which point we were ready to order our meal as well. She promptly said she would be back w the potatoes yes it took 7 more min for them to come out. We never got the peppers and onions a manager came by and asked how things were and we even asked him about them and he said he would bring out our server came by 5 min later and asked how they were as she was told they were brought out. By this time we finished eating everything else and was ready to go. Mya is not experienced enough to work somewhere she has more than 1 table to help food was excellent tho as usual. Just don't get seated in Mya section. Wish we were sat 1 table up that server appeared to be on point. Don't let our poor server keep you from going overall we enjoyed ourselves and the food. Had a lunch takeout order yesterday and no one wanted to help us check out. There were 4 girls in the kitchen and they just glance at us while we waited. We probably waited at the counter for a good 8 mins. We just stood there and listen to them talk about their plans for the night. Nothing was done until a guy walked into the area where they were chatting and asked if someone could help us. She said "oh I thought you were taken care of". This was probably one of the worst meals I have ever had; we had it delivered and the brisket was so burnt as to be inedible except for a few bites and even those were so dry I had to chew it for literally over a minute. The cornbread skillet was ridiculously chewy as well. If we had been in the restaurant as opposed to doing take out I would have sent them both back (something i literally never do) and just went on my merry way it was that bad. Well, slather me up some baby back mediocrity and charge me a firstborn! I get it - it's a chain, but I eat at Applebee's with the excitement of a 1992 4 year-old finding Barney the Dinosaur at his b-day bonanza. So you've really gotta up the suck factor to get me down. Smokey Bones is a haven for overpriced, under-portioned 'BBQ', served up at a mind-numbingly slow pace. I'll start with the price. I'm not sure what pinkies they're trying to stick out with these dishes, but they are not worth the tags. 10-12 bucks for a menu-item burger that barely reaches the size of a BK Whopper, complete with absolutely 0 sides. Want fries? A scoop of a max of about 15 potato slices will cost you an extra Washington. If you pop over to the entreé section, you'll be looking at some 12-18 dollar plates that I can only imagine fall short of their Louisiana aspirations. Though the late night usually isn't too shabby, prime time service is usually the speed of a pre-death escargot. I don't come here nearly often enough to make an assessment on the dinner crew anymore, but I used to attribute most of this to kitchen flubs. If you're cravin' some proportionally affordable and satisfying BBQ fixin's - you're better off grabbing a rack of ribs at one of the other TGI Applebee's chains in the greater Warwick/Cranston area. read more

The start of our visit was lovey, the host was warm and welcoming. But it all went down hill once we were seated- we met Amy, unfortunately. My boyfriend and I each have 5+ years in the food industry. And as a former server, I must say this was awful service. After being seated we waited 15 minutes! Yet we still were very positive when she "greeted" us. After placing our drink order we waited yet again another excessive amount of time for a Soda and Red Bull. After dropping off our drinks she said she'd " give us a few minutes to look at the menu." And started to walk off. We had to raise our tone just to get her to come back because we knew what we wanted an hour ago! She didn't check in on us at all, just glances while passing by. SEVERAL tables that were seated after us were already finishing eating before (thank goodness)two other servers brought us our food. She came by our table and said " Oh you do have food." What was that even supposed to mean? At the end of our meal my boyfriend went to use the restroom- she stopped at the table and said (in a very rude tone) " if you're ready to pay use this- " and moved a tablet on the table right in my face. I said we'd need two boxes, that took five minutes even though they are located on the waitress stand behind our table. It was over all just a terrible experience, we were looking to relax and enjoy ourselves on our date night. Very disappointed. BBQ places are few and far between in New England and although Smokey Bones is a chain the food is great! I had the pulled pork sandwich and my daughter had a burger - the burger was perfect and the fries are excellent my pulled pork was great. The pork was tender and juicy and the sauces are outstanding, it is not like the local joints in SC or TX but it fills the need. The only downfall to this place was the poor service, I was there with my daughter at about 5PM (before they got really busy) and the young girls working were more concerned with chatting with each other than waiting on tables. My ice tea went empty until I could flag our waitress down and it took forever to get the check. So to wrap it up, food was great, service sucks!!! read more

Ordered fish and chips, missing cole slaw, chips and tarter sauce. Hawaiian steak was under cooked to the point of being raw inside. Fried green tomatoes where missing tomato dipping sauce and the breading was under cooked and raw inside . Bag of donuts, missing chocolate and strawberry dipping sauces. There was not 1 single item in the entire order that was correct except the bottle of soda. I usually really love Smokey Bones, but this order left a bad taste in my mouth in more ways then one. I stopped here for some takeout recently and I was pleasantly surprised. I got some wings and some nachos and some other items. The service on the phone was very friendly and it was ready within 20 minutes or less. The service in person was very friendly as well. My first experience with SB was in Atlanta. It was also my first experience with Pulled Pork. Being from Texas, we don't really make an effort to BBQ anything as small as a pig. So I tried the pulled pork and brisket. First the bad, stay away from the brisket. They do not know how to cook it or serve it. It was a lump of shoe leather. The good, the Pulled Pork, the BBQ Chicken Nachos, ribs and the burgers. And no, I did not try them all in one sitting. They are a good solid chain that tends to adjust their serving sizes based on the economy, which is kind of unfortunate. E.g., a rack of ribs has between 12 and 13 ribs. So how a half rack of ribs has 5 ribs is beyond me, and it always seems to be the small end. What happens to the 2 or 3 that are left over? The upside is that the flavors are consistent and the service is usually pretty good. So if you are having a hankering for BBQ and don't want to just buy a bottle of sauce and lick it off your finger, SB might hit the spot. read more

As far as BBQ goes, Smokey Bones provides an option that takes the edge off that craving when it hits you. I've been here more times than I can count, going back to the early 2000s. That said, if you asked me then what I thought of Smokey versus now, I would have had much nicer things to say. Somewhere along the line they changed the menu, and with it, the quality of both the food and service. But, I'm not here to pick on poor Smokey, because as I mentioned on the whole it fits the bill. The prices are very reasonable, they have some of the better appetizers I've seen from chain restaurants (read: PRETZEL BONES), and all in all the food is tasty. My personal favorite comes from their salad offerings, though technically not a salad. You are given a side salad with a baked potato stacked with toppings including pulled pork. This works out to be a fairly healthy option for an otherwise unhealthy cuisine. The doughnuts in a bag for dessert is also a great treat. Hot, freshly made doughnuts are brought to your table in a bag, and covered in cinnamon-sugary goodness. They also come with dipping sauces which are chocolate and some indeterminable fruit sauce. Either way, good stuff! Beer selections are a bit limited if you're into craft brews, but for those happy with your run-of-the-mill Coors/Bud/Miller and the Blue Moons/Sam Adams offerings, you should be all set. read more

Really loud, and really cold. They blast the music, no matter what time you come in (been there twice now). If I come in for lunch, I'd like to be able to hold a conversation with my friends, and not have to scream, especially in the middle of the day. It's also really cold in there- think supermarket cold. It had been several years since I had last visited 'Smokey Bones' in Warwick. This was not unintentional, because I remember being quite disappointed in the food, the atmosphere, the service...pretty much everything. Now that my favorite BBQ place has closed down (LJ's in Pawtucket), I decided to give these guys another shot. Good Call!!! The restaurant was clean and neat, with the exception of some slightly dingy signs that hung from the ceiling that separated the front dining area from the bar. The many TV sets that dangled from the ceiling and the accompanying speaker select stations at each table were not to be found! This was a major annoyance on our previous visit. The only TV's I could see were in the bar area, an appropriate place for them. Thank you, SB, for getting rid of these monstrosities. The food was excellent all around. Diane had the 1/2 barbecued chicken and loved it along with the side dishes (she chose the cinnamon apples and steamed broccoli, along with the garlic bread that comes with the meal). The skin was blackened and pleasantly spicy, and the meat inside was tender and flavorful. Though the 1/c chicken looked a bit smallish, she could not finish, so that became leftover number one. A temporary dental issue kept me from trying the chicken wings or the ribs, and we were a bit too early for the beef brisket. So I opted to build my own burger - a turkey burger patty topped with cheddar, pulled pork, and a tomato on a ciabatta roll. The verdict? Delicious and filling!!! The pulled pork that was added was without its own sauce, so I added the KC-style BBQ sauce - one of four available at the table...yum! I ate half the burger, and the other half became leftover number 2. I opted for the mashed potato and gravy as my side (I'd have preferred to try the fire roasted corn, but the aforementioned dental issues prevented that). The potatoed were a bit pasty (perhaps they were instant?), and the gravy was a bit sparse, but reasonably tasty. There WERE a few little glitches. I had ordered a glass of wine, which our waitress (Courtney) brought right after bringing the rest of the meal, rather than at the same time or (preferably) a bit before. Diane's decaf was undrinkable, despite being freshly brewed. Courtney was quick to replace it with a cup of tea at Diane's request. And the little 'ziosk' gaming console erroneously added $1,99 to our bill though we had not used it. There was no problem having it removed from the bill. I'm hoping these 'ziosk' machines - which are popping at many chain restaurants - die out quickly. All in all, we were pleased with our visit and will most likely return in the future - after my permanent crown allows me to take a bite out of the ribs (or wings)! This place, while a chain, serves up some tasty BBQ. The ribs were fantastic (fall-off-the-bone!), and we got a couple of half-priced apps since we went on a night with football games. The apps were also pretty tasty - standard game food, really. The service was a bit slow due to the game. The restaurant was packed, but since there were TVs in every conceivable location, the wait was not that bad. Plenty of parking and friendly service overall makes this a good place to go when you are craving BBQ. I want to stab my goddamn ears out with the horrible music selection. We sat at the bar, they have music videos to back up the terrible music, some sports. Altogether I'm under the impression this place would do a lot better if they focused on food instead of flare. You know the Nazis had pieces of flare.....
