Have been to this restaurant many times. Always a solid experience. Tonight was no exception. Place is always clean and TV's have on a game or some other sporting event. Service was pretty good, food was delicious. Highly recommend the Brunswick Stew as an appetizer, and the Roasted Banana Pudding for dessert. Dessert would have been even more amazing if it was made with real whipped cream instead of Cool Whip, but I managed to eat it all anyway. A good choice if you're looking to eat out. read more

Order from here weekly or more. Always a 1/2 Or 1/4 chicken with regular mashed and potato wedges. This is the second time the 1/4 was actually 1/8 chicken and the first time the mashed was with mixed with already chewed chicken and returned to the mash (or maybe with pulled chicken). Not sure that we can or will ever order from here again. It wants make one vomit. York has the worlds worst sampling of restaurants compares to all the place in this country and even wherever I have traveled overseas during my 46 years in the travel industry. read more

No Brunswick stew, no desserts except banana pudding and hot bag of donuts (which are not with $10 for basically fried little Debbie's), and no veggies for side options. First, can't complain about the service. Everyone was great. Having gone to the place many times over its life, I know how good the food used to be. Unfortunately, greed has slipped in to cheapen and ruin the experience. The ribs were soft and overcooked with no smoke ring, which after the claimed 4 hours in the smoker, should have been there. Hubby brought home dinner from Smokey Bones and we all were quite disappointed. The brisket wasn't tender, pulling apart, or juicey as is Mission's brisket. The chicken wings were too seasoned. The wings were overcooked and tossed in the sauce to try to insert moisture but it was a huge fail. The seasoning was so overpowering that the only way to eat it was with a mouthful of mash. However, the mash was buttery and a good consistency. The Cole slaw was very good as well. It wasn't too sweet and had a good mix of green and red cabbages. The Mac and cheese, well the Mac because there was hardly any cheese. I had to make a from scratch cheese sauce to add to it and sprinkled seasoned bread crumbs and butter on top and but it in my air fryer, mmmm!!! The pulled chicken was dry. For a smoke house, they've got it backwards! Shouldn't it be all about the smoked meats? Here only the sides were good. Hubby said that as he paid for the take out meals there was no option to adjust tip. It went straight to 20%. 20%+ tip goes for full dinning in service not for take out, we won't be recommending this place nor ever ordering or dinning here again. I would be shocked if this restaurant is still open a year from now. It is dirty and very worn. The restrooms don't look like they've been renovated in over a decade. Food was very good (and hot)! The selection was a little small for those not interested in BBQ but we'll be back. A couple small negatives that prevent us from giving a five-star review: The hostess took our party of 4 and seated us at a booth designed for 2. You could tell she was told to fill in the seats around the outside of the restaurant first but you gotta use some common sense. She also wasn't thrilled when we asked if we could move (before we even sat down). The booth she originally took us to had a huge rip in the seat. Dust. The dust. We go to this restaurant once a year for a special event and each year it's the same. Same dust? I don't know but it sits on the separation between the booths directly above your food. It was just okay, nothing special. The skillet cornbread was 4 small loaves instead of the skillet. Did they go to Weis markets and buy them there? Mini nachos were also just okay, nothing great. They were definitely not "loaded" with two meats or two cheeses. Oh and the freshly fried tortilla chips were also clearly from a bag. Why must they lie? The ribs were pretty good and the sauce was really tasty. The sausage was also good. The Texas toast was from the same supermarket as the chips and cornbread. This place, like many, has raised prices, shrunk portions, and lowered food quality. The server was decent and the restaurant was mostly empty at 7pm on a Monday night. Years ago this place was great and now it's just overpriced okay. We were very disappointed that the two apps that we traveled almost an hour to enjoy were a let down. I was asked to give smoky bones a rating for my visit at The York, Pennsylvania's restaurant, if I was to rate that restaurant, I would give it a one star. It was the worst visit ever, first of all our salad came to the table after our dinner was served and the dinner was cold. We ordered the half rack baby back ribs with a salad and a baked potato the food was cold. The potato and ribs tasted like they were sitting out about 15 minutes before coming to the table, you could eat it, but it would've been better if it was hot!!! Trying to eat our salad at the same time we were eating our dinner was the worse. When the dinner came out before the salad, I asked the server why are we getting our salad before our dinner and the server said hold on, my hands were full, I will bring your salad soon, rude. After a few hours after leaving the restaurant, I called the general manager of this York smoky bones and ask if there was some kind of compensation he could give us for the cold food, He said he will do nothing, not even a gift card to make things right, at that point the phone hung up. The next time I think I would like to have some ribs, I'll pass up smoky bones. read more

Our sever, Shaun, was excellent. He was very attentive without being too much and made sure I didn't have an empty glass for long. That was really the only positive. The first table they tried to seat us at was sticky and dirty. The next one was cleaner, but every seat in the restaurant was stained or torn or both. It all feels uncared for. I love the smoked wings at Smokey Bones. They are consistently delicious. Everything else is either hit or miss, including crowd level, cleanliness, covid precautions and service. Frequently, we have to wait for a table even though the dining room is mostly empty. Like most restaurants right now, I think they are having staffing issues. I feel like the portion sizes have gotten smaller and the quality has decreased with increases in prices, but that can also be attributed to the times. They've added some interesting new specials. Me, wife and adult teenage daughter had moved to York, Dover area last year and we had gone to different restaurants when we could afford to. We stopped at Smokey Bones on August 10th (for my 56th birthday) after wife made reservations for mid-afternoon, and the resturant had some customers and we were seated right down at a nice table that had the different sauces, which were great. Our waitress was very prompt and got our drinks quickly. (The waitstaff had seen I was disabled and walking with forearm crutches and apologized for the walk to the table, but I told them I was fine with the walk and they had zero need to apologise, If I would have needed a close table, I would have asked. ^^) Daughter had the chicken strips which were outstanding, while wife and I decided to get the Bone-fires with the mix of meats in a small barbeque with a coal briquette in the base to keep everything hot. THAT Blew our minds by how GREAT the food was. Everything on those grills were so mouth watering, we couldn't decide what we both liked most. ^^ My mouth is watering as I'm writing this review. ^^ (My wife loves everything, while I LOVE meats, so it's fairly easy to have an enjoyable meal...) The waitress was so good, she made the time there even more enjoyable. The only downside? Honestly, I can't think of one. I ordered 115.00 worth of food and when I get there they have no loaded baked potatoes so I had to substitute got no courtesy call / email to say they didn't have them and to substitute then. Also waited an extra 30 minutes after my pickup time till I got my food. Ribs were not the baby back that we usually got they were not fall off the bone. The chili hardly had any meat in it . It was more corn and liquid. Ribeye steak was to be well done and it was still all bloody inside I had to cook it myself. I am so disappointed in this place. It is not like it used to be. I shouldn't have to be this dissatisfied. The service I received was piss poor. I will never be going here again. I will definitely be telling people to stay away. Get your shit together. read more

I googled BBQ restaurants in YORK and this one popped up. As soon as I saw Brunswick stew on the menu I knew I had to try this place out. I haven't had Brunswick stew since I was in Georgia a few years ago and have never saw it on the menu anywhere up north. Let's just say the Brunswick stew was Brunswick stewin'. Soooooo good. I also ordered a full rack which I got as a special deal for $15. You really can't beat that price. It was a huge size rack. The taste wasn't necessarily mind blowing , it could've used more "smoke" flavor but all in all , it was a good rib. Came complete with a loaded baked potato and broccoli. I gotta add , they hooked me up with a nice amount of "loaded" toppings as I am a huge sour cream lover and most restaurants usually skimp on that. Green onions too. Only giving 2 stars cause our waitress and waiter was cool and attentive didn't mess anything up. The food was horrible like really bad. You need new recipes or new cooks idk what is happening in the kitchen but they're barely making edible food. Our Mac and cheese was just noodles with cheese melted on top please just name them cheesy noodles. The wings were pink RAW and just not good. It had a smoky taste but not a regular one Idek how to describe it. The fries were good lol. The bbq nachos looked like a toddler assembled it, and tasted like it too.
