Excellent barbecue, the brisket was MOIST! Loved the sides and coleslaw as well as the big squares of cornbread. Service was very friendly. The only downside is there's not a lot of shaded seating if you want to eat outside. My brother got the ribs and ate the whole slab. It was a great lunch. Also they have Coke Zero which is a huge plus to me. Big enough parking lot too.

What a smoky bbq that pork ribs were so amazing tenderness, tasty n delicious!!! The meats pork were cooking right on with yummy barbecue sauce on top!! A side dish of potatoes salad plus soda drinks that it was perfect lunch on the weekend!! Service was counter top n they served customers well communication and efficient!! They have the seating inside ice chilling with air conditioning if we get hot even in the winter time!!! Plus outside seating with a rooftop ... it's warm n sunny in the winter time too!!

We've been looking for a local BBQ spot and this was a great find! The signature bbq sauce tastes like it maybe has curry in it? But overall a great Kansas City bbq. The seating is limited inside so much better as a to go option, the service was quick though! We tried the burnt ends and rib tips, both cooked to perfection. The side of potato salad was also a hefty portion. The only miss was the Mac n cheese, it looked and tasted like something from the grocery store refrigerated section.

This is a business which was a real pleasure to support. We were fortunate to have eaten here. Kansas City BBQ. Mild, not salty, fall off the bone tender. Brisket literally melted in the mouth. Ribs were perfectly done and soft/delectable. My chicken was thoroughly cooked and not greasy nor dry. Sides: Exceptional collard greens. Not salty. Perfect! Beans: NOT SWEET thank God! Perfect! This is definitely a hole in the wall, but that can lead to some surprises. We got a combo plate and a sandwich. The sandwich was good, but they had just one sauce which was too tomato forward. The brisket on the sandwich was good, but the platter's brisket was a good portion of fat. The turkey tasted like deli turkey with no smoke ring. The mac was good, a little watery. The potato salad was good. The cornbread would've been great if they used honey instead of syrup. The price wasn't hole in the wall prices. I'm glad I tried it out, but probably won't go again.

Small building surrounded by a delicate aroma of smoking meats, and it smells delicious!! Small parking lot gets full when busy. Ambiance/Cleanliness-A KC, MO kinda vibe. Very clean. Indoor seating, cozy tables. 4 stars. Service-Warm and welcoming...efficient. 4 stars. Food. Have had dry rub wings, rib tips and brisket. The brisket was above average, but meats come sauced unless requested otherwise, so I couldnt check bark. Wings are up there with the best, smokey and flavorful. Rib tips also excellent. Went in person on a weeknight and ordered to go. Service was ok, not friendly but not rude. We ordered the 3 meats 3 sides combo with pulled pork, ribs, and brisket and for the sides, fries, mac and cheese, and potato salad. The meats were tender but needed more sauce. The fries were awful, almost burned and some fries were hard and some soggy and very greasy. we had to throw those away. The Mac and cheese and potato salad were good. There is seating inside and out.

Walked in and was immediately greeted with a bit of an off-putting vibe from the lady behind the counter--definitely got the side-eye--but I chose not to take it personally and kept an open mind. We ordered the 2 meat, 2 side plate. Originally wanted the tri tip and brisket, but they were out of tri tip, so we switched to pulled pork. The portion size was ehhh As for the food: the pulled pork was absolutely perfect--tender, flavorful, and exactly what you'd hope for. The potato salad was also a standout--creamy, well-seasoned, and delicious. Unfortunately, the brisket was mostly fat, which was a letdown. The mac and cheese had a unique sweet flavor, but it didn't really hit the mark for us in terms of cheesiness--it's a little hard to describe, but it just felt like something was missing. All in all, this is just my personal take.

The one thing I don't like about barbecue places is coming out smelling like I've just been smoked myself. That being said, I truly do appreciate this place because it's a simple menu and the prices were not too bad. The lady at the front was very friendly and I appreciated her promptness and getting my order ready so the service was excellent with that regards. They also told me originally that they ran out of chicken, but they didn't and made my order happen. I like the outdoor seating and the inside seating was not too shabby. But I would prefer sitting outside, especially if you can tolerate the shaded area and not coming out like smoke. The barbecue was pretty good and I just wish there was more sauce smothered all over my chicken. I'm a saucy type of guy if you're in the neck of the woods for this place, then please stop by.

Order at the counter then cop a squat. Limited seating inside but a big patio outside with a hog trough for washing the BBQ sauce off 'yer mitts. They have one sauce and it had good flavor with some nice heat. Pulled pork, Brisket, and Ribs all average. Beans and slaw were fine and dandy. The greens and the mac and cheese stole the show, along with the smoked turkey. Passable BBQ joint for a school night but nothing to write home about, which is okay since my Momma ain't waiting for a letter anyhow.

This is the second time that I have been here. The food was just as good as the first time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The woman in front of me was being slightly difficult and the cashier was impressively patient with her. The restaurant was clean, although I ordered take out. I've only gotten the tacos, but my friend had the pulled pork sandwich and she said it was very good. The tacos are flavorful and not spicy. Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Read many reviews of this place before I took the time to go there. The sign on the outside should have warned me in advance. The sign was for the daily special that featured burnt ends over French Fries. The special included sour cream. In my sixty plus years of eating barbecue I have never seen sour cream, would take away from the taste inherent in excellent barbecue - the smoke. I ordered the beef brisket with sides of beans and slaw. What arrived from the kitchen consisted of several slices of brisket (with gobs) of fat attached and significant amount of nondescript sauce on top. Quickly looking at the brisket pieces for the "gold standard" of barbecue, the purplish line from the surfaces of the beef toward the center. It wasn't there. The beef was tender enough however it didn't have flavor associated with beef slow cooked over several hours I was expecting. And why you believe me. I ate my first barbecue at around ages five - twenty in Kansas City. The many years in Texas, Dallas & Austin. Each of those areas have unique forms of barbecue. And the purplish line in the beef where the woodsmoke has penetrated is alwa read more

I looked up this place on a trip to Tucson and liked the reviews, so we gave it a shot. I'm from Texas, and pretty picky about my BBQ, and this place did not disappoint! We ordered the 4 meat plate to split between 2 people and it was a very large serving, with 2 drinks as well. The food was great and well seasoned, and the Mac and cheese was delicious. We liked the brisket and sausage best, but the pulled pork was also good. Would definitely go here again! read more

It's wonderful to see this location occupied again. My niece highly recommended this place and although I eat mainly vegetarian these days, I have manned the grill plenty in my former meat butchering, smootherin' and grillin' daze. I was taught by a Texas grill master and I appreciate the Texas dry rub, but love my North Carolina tangy BBQ sauce. All that being said, I pulled into this fresh coat of paint now named Somkey Mo and was ready for some good grub. I wanted to love as my niece does but for me it was acceptable but left me dry. I roped some of my coworkers into trying the place too. Over all our order included wings, brisket, pull pork, hit links and sides. Perhaps it's my lack of KS BBQ background but the flavors were not distinct and wings were extra dry. I'm a sucker for wings love them hot, love sweet...just plain love them period. However, I found the hot/habanero to not be so very hot but I guess it's so everyone else who don't want to breath fire can eat them too??? We were disappointed that the Mustard option had been eliminated. That at least sounded different. We were also disappointed with the lack of charred ring for the brisket, but again acceptable. The texture on the hot link was unique and we did enjoy that. The pulled pork was well cooked- not over done and not under cooked; but again for us it lack a distinct taste. in the end most of agreed for the price we will give Mo's another try. The best part is that it inspired us and we will be doing our own BBQ rib luncheon next week. read more

Probably the best BBQ in Tucson. Locally owned in the old but remodeled sherry's drive in spot. My favorites are: the sausage, the shredded pork, the corn bread, The chicken (but get it dry rub only). They have sweet tea and kookaid. Try the peach cobbler ice cream. Go here. PS BBQ is always pricy. Special shout out to the man at the front counter- great service. read more

Have eaten here a few times since I moved to Tucson last August. As usual I stopped buy and picked up to go last night. Ordered the 2 meat dinner brisket and pulled pork with 2 sides collard greens and mac n cheese. As usual everything was delicious. Being from Texas I know barbecue and Smokey Mo's never disappoints me. The 2 guys that operate it are down to earth and couldn't be more inviting. Can't wait for my next visit!!! read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! My husband told me about this place last summer but we were in the process of moving and I didn't get a chance to try it-well we get to Come back home every month for appts etc, and today my husband brought me in for lunch! Wow was it everything he has describes? YES IT WAS AND MORE! I had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich and it was the best BBQ sandwich I've had since KC, MO! That's the first thing I said to my hubs is it smells like KC BBQ! My parents and our family are originally from KC but my dad moved us here in 1970 to start his medical practice . He was a BBQ connoisseurs of sorts and had he not passed away 2 years ago he would have loved this place! I'm sure sorry he missed out but we will definitely be back and I hope to try everything eventually on their menu! This place is a hit and deserves 5 Stars! The service is great as well! read more

OMG. I'm the happiest Texan in Tucson right now. My husband and I devoured our brisket sandwiches. The brisket was tender, smokey and falling apart. The sauce was the perfect level of spicy/sweet/savory. For sides, I got the potato salad and my husband got the mac and cheese. Both were SO DELICIOUS. Wherever you are in the Tucson area, it's worth the drive over to Smoky Mo's for some of the best bbq you could put in your mouth. The place is nothing fancy, but it's clean and the folks are all super friendly. You can eat inside or out on the patio and the prices are good for the large portions you get. I had the brisket & my husband had the tri-tip and both were excellent. I tasted pickled onions for the very first time ever & couldn't believe what I'd been missing all these years. My favorites were the Ribs, Brisket, Tri-tip, and baked beans. The turky was solid and smokey. I'm not really a fan of sausage, but my wife enjoyed these. I loved that you could really taste the smokey taste and that everything was fresh, juicy, and tender. The baked beans were the kind of love, with pieces of pork throughout the mixture. Because we split this platter (with leftovers), it was quite a good deal. When the bill came, the waitress listed a bunch of things that qualified for an extra discount, so we scored an additional 10% off for being seniors. If I lived in Tucson, this place would be on my regular restaurant rotation, which is high praise indeed!

I hope management starts paying closer attention to how their staff treats incoming patrons. Your food might be good, but you are not that special. Show some respect to your customers. We will never be coming back.

This restaurant was a great find! We stopped for lunch after grabbing coffee down the street and had a great experience. The pulled pork was delicious, smoky and not too fatty with great sauce and sides. The cole slaw was light and refreshing, the beans were a little less thick than I'm used to sauce wise but still delicious. We shared a plate and had a good amount of food for a light lunch from that. The service was wonderful - we felt welcomed from the minute we got there and the owner shared lots of great info.
