We were visiting from out of town and stumbled across Smokey Mo's. Man oh man...what a treat! The meats were cooked perfectly. I had the brisket sandwich and they piled on the meat. The brisket just melted in my mouth. The pulled pork was tender and delicious. Perhaps better than the brisket..it's hard to say. They were both SO delicious. The service was phenomenal. They were kind and attentive. They went out of their way to make sure we were having a good dining experience. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Arizona. At first glance, was hopeful. Reviews seemed favorable. Smell was wonderful when I walked in, but the ordering process and cashier were... confusing. Grabbed the two meat and sides combo. Had pulled pork - not a lot of presence, and way more fatty than I like. Had the turkey, too. Texture was great, but had the same problem - needed like 4x the smoke flavor. Broken by 6 years of Texas, I rarely find bbq I love. Unfortunately, I won't be back. Mac and cheese was so-so. Very soft. Cole slaw was good, but not memorable. read more

Came in on a rainy day. Love the small town feel and local ownership. Very tasty BBQ. Odd things were the tri tip was really tuff ..like couldn't cut it to share. Very spicy and should be described better. Wasn't the best. But the rest made up for it. Sweet employee at the front helped us find a dry spot on the patio on a rainy day. Good sides. Brisket was on point. And surprising. Pork tacos were great. Need more BBQ sauce on servings. Seems like it's rationed in 1 oz cups instead of a good squeeze bottle or two available. I loved my experience at Smokey Mo's. I took my family and we ordered 2 specials, wings and ribs. The food was fantastic, and they have a nice outside dining area. The menu is reasonably priced, and they stick to dishes they have mastered. The owner greeted us and his enthusiasm filled the space. Disappointed. After reading all the positive reviews, thought this was going to be a great place. My fault for not ordering the sauce on the side. when the meat came out, it was over all the pulled pork, brisket and hot links. Didn't care for the taste of the sauce, but even without the sauce, there was nothing that could be described as great. Coleslaw and Fried Okra were the best items. Going there Sunday evening may not have been the best time, food had been sitting there for awhile. read more

I don't typically leave scathing reviews or reviews at all, however I feel I got lied to. There was supposed to be smoked wings- I don't think these wings were smoked. They tatsted and had a consistency more like they had been put in an instant pot with bbq sauce. The pulled pork sandwich was better though. The "slaw" used didn't really have any taste at all. I would probably never eat her again, if I did though it would be solely based on the service. The two ladies working the register were kind. read more

Tried out this spot tonight. Some of the things I tried, I've never tasted anything like it. The highlight so far: potato salad, mac and cheese, brisket, and turkey(!) were especially good. Tonight was my second time to visit, which meant the first visit was fantastic! Since the hubs was with me, we decided to go with the sampler of 4 meats and 4 sides plus two drinks. We picked brisket, tri-tip, ribs and pulled pork with baked beans, collard greens, mac and cheese and fries as sides. I was not a fan of the pulled pork - I thought it was quite dry and lacked that smokey, barbecue flavour. Other than that, everything was excellent! This is the second time I've had the brisket and it was as delicious as the first time I had it, which speaks to their consistency. Of the four sides, I especially liked the mac and cheese. Alright, let's start by saying I've had amazing Southern bbq. And of course coming home to AZ I've had some questionable bbq. There used to be this place called Soul Feathers that had amazing mesquite bbq but that place has been long gone for years. With that being said. This place is hands down the best mesquite bbq and bbq in Tucson. The location is very clean and adorable! Thankfully the weather is pleasant enough to sit outside. The service is very welcoming and knowledgeable. You are greeted with a smile and aroma. After we orders the server said that the brisket sold out for the day. But he was able to locate some good brisket for my group. If I have anything negative to say is that the turkey was a tad dry, but only a tad! Not enough to mess with my experience. Over all very please with all of what this place has to offer and I cannot wait to bring family with me to experience the delicious aroma and service! My boyfriend demolished the ribs and I ate the pulled pork sandwich. Everything was so delicious and the atmosphere added to that. Plus the staff is nice and friendly. The side of mac is good but has a strong smokey flavor to it so kind of overpowered the other flavors. Try the Jamaica hibiscus tea. read more

As a fan of locally owned and operated businesses, I do have to say this is and will be one of my new favorite spots. The bbq was on point and the sides were also a hit! I used to be a fan of brushfire but this place has taken over. The portions are huge, the price is right and food was great. I have to say that that what makes this place stand out from the rest is they guy Brandon that works the front counter!!! This guy is awesome!!! I'm my opinion he makes this place and really makes the food taste that much better with his great personality and great customer service! Take it from a southern gal, this is some GOOOOOD bbq! I've been in Tucson for 4 years now and continued to search for some REAL southern bbq. Smoky Mo's isn't exactly southern but it's Kansas City style and it's just as good! I have had almost everything on the menu and it's ALL good. I'm partial to the rib tips, oh my god, now that's some good eatin'! They even have Texas Sweet Tea! Now that'll make a southerner smile! The Mac n cheese is creamy and oh so good, the collard greens are hot and spicy if you like 'em that way, peach cobbler to die for!. The staff there is awesome too from the cashier/greeter/cobbler baker to the guys in the back that all come out to say hi! Best barbeque in town! read more

We stopped in after racing in Phoenix, all day. This BBQ place was a recommendation, the menu was great, easy to read. The staff was friendly, well more than friendly. You walk in and feel like you could stay and hang out, welcoming! They have a nice outside area and TV's inside...and did I mention an amazing staff? The food, well I ordered brisket and pulled pork, my son had tri tip and brisket, it was amazing! We ordered more pulled pork to go and a pulled pork sandwich, it was really good. I ordered mine with no sauce, was not dry and was delicious! My son tells me I really missed out on the Sauce. It was Super Bowl, all the sausage links were sold out, so it's safe to assume they are also a favorite! read more

Wow is all we can say!!! My family arrived from Houston to bring our daughter to college and we were looking for a dinner spot when we saw Smokey Mo. I ordered the two meat dinner (brisket and ribs) with collard greens and Mac & cheese. My wife and daughter split a 12 barbecue wing basket with potato salad, beans and corn bread. Best BBQ in Tucson, hands down. Went with a group, got to try the ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and chicken tacos. Ribs were smokey and had a great sauce. Brisket was moist, same with the pulled pork. Also, the tacos were insanely good, was a great surprise. Otherwise, food came out quick and hot, its a lot of food so be aware, you may be taking left overs. The owner was super friendly and the interior/exterior is a clean nice area. Really excited this place exists in Tuscon, after having BBQ in Texas and North Carolina, its great to finally have a solid, honest to god BBQ place. read more

My favorite place in Arizona. Staff is SUPER friendly, food is delicious. My personal favorites are the tri tip, brisket, and beans. Everything is full of flavor, and the sauces make it even better. Delicious homemade tea. It is a little sweet, so I recommend diluting it with unsweetened tea. The waiter will give you a new bun free of charge. Close to downtown, so you will be able to get there from work. The portions are just right for you to eat, then have the leftovers for dinner the next day. I've been looking for good barbecue in Tucson since I moved here 5 years ago and have had no luck until now. People raved about various places, but I'd be consistently disappointed. Then I tried SMs. The food was incredible--the ribs, pulled pork, turkey and brisket (got the sampler). And the Mac and cheese and beans were delicious. The collard greens are a little spicy for my taste but everything else was fantastic. I've been back many times, and it has always hit the spot. one recommendation is that the beans sometimes need to be cooked longer. But other than that, it is my favorite smokehouse. read more
