Incredible barbecue!!! We got the meal deal and got to try everything (recommend ). The tri tip, pulled pork, and bbq sauce were my favorite. But honestly, it was all amazing, and I'm super picky about food. The portions are more than enough. I'm almost always left wanting more when I eat out, but I didn't come close to finishing all my food here. The seating area is very small though, so be aware of that when thinking about dinning in. The biggest tables seat 4 and there's only 2 that size, but they are close together. If you want good barbecue, this place is absolutely worth it, even with a drive (if you live in Redding)! read more

This place exceeded my expectations! Even my picky children loved it there! We got the family meal for 2 and it was more like for family of 4. We still have left over. This is definitely my go-to when I pass through town. I recommend this place to anyone who has a bbq craving. This review is based on a visit to their location on Cascade Blvd. but also applies to this location. Have had their pulled pork and chicken many times over the years and both get a 5/5. Damn good. Tri tip and beef ribs on the other hand were dry and tough. It took all I had to get the rib meat off the bone. Rating for beef 1/5. Stick with pork and chicken, they are the best. read more

Terrible. The food makes me feel sick, the garlic fries are more garlic than fry, the iconic ribs are somehow over cooked and still have a thick layer of fat on them, the owner has a terrible attitude, and I don't understand why everytime I come in he is sitting in the chairs. I have not once been to a restaurant where the owner just sits in the dinning area all day long! We set out on our journey on Thursday afternoon for dinner but decided we needed lunch, so we could taste. Upon arrival Joe was passing out his famous ribs, when he got to me, I declined but he said if you don't LOVE these ribs I will buy your lunch. Hubby took his down like a champ before we could order, mine was good but I didn't finish...Joe asked am I buying lunch...I told him he was good and we all smiled and laughter. We enjoyed the following: Pastrami, Hot Links, Ribs, Chicken, Pork and TRI-TIP (My Favorite)...We enjoyed every bit...Don't forget the Beans, Macaroni Salad and Yams. We've driven past this place a few times and finally decided to stop in. We are so glad we did! I had the Pulled Pork sandwich it was one of the best PPS's I've had because the pork was more of a dry rub served with a side of warmed BBQ sauce on the side, not needed in my case. The pork sandwich is also made with a grilled garlic bun that is so yummy and makes the sandwich that much more special. My husband had the Tri-Tip sandwich that was full of flavor and just as delicious. Don't forget to try their sides. I had their Macaroni Salad and it's not your Mother's Macaroni Salad. I think it has dill in it and it's very good as are the seasoned fries. We can't wait to go back. read more

Came here with my mom on the way home from a 5 hour road trip, we both love bbq but it's so hard to find a place that has both good meats and good sides. But we've found one!! the tri tip sandwich was so fresh and juicy, and hot link was so delicious, and the pulled pork was amazing. their fries are crispy and seasoned perfectly, and the potato salad is also very good, everything tasted so fresh and i'm so sad that we don't live any closer, or we'd go so much more often. read more

I reviewed earlier, so I want to add a little regarding a more recent visit. I went through the drive-thru and was very surprised to see inconsistent use of masks. The front of house staff were, but the food prep and a couple men in the kitchen were not. The people handling your food are just as likely to be shedding virus--not only Covid, but others as well. Back in June, I had Smokin' Joes cater a work event but the review was placed under the old name "Smoked" so here it is again: CATERING WAS ABOVE PAR! The food is even better! You MUST MUST MUST not ignore this place. What is there to say about the BEST BBQ this side of the northstate. Joe is the nicest, most thoughtful person I have ever worked with. Back in March, I needed to get catering done for approximately 50-75 people at my wrk. I called around to different places in Redding and was either met with outrageous prices, or rude and inconsiderate managers. Then, I remembered that a friend of mine RAVED about this little place called Smoked off Airport Rd. I thought, well it's worth a shot. I called and spoke directly to Joe. NICEST MAN ever. He listened to what I needed, he worked with my budget, and literally was the most responsive and easiest person to deal with. He told me to trust him and that he would do something real nice. I was nervous but decided to trust him. Good thing I did! Turns out that everything was above par. He put all of the meat and salads in these really nice dishes and provided us with lots of sauces and extras on the side. I posted a few pictures so that you can see for yourself. He offered to deliver for free, but we picked up instead. I paid a couple of days in advance, and as a treat, he let me sample some of the goods which were coming my way. HOLY CRAP. THIS STUFF WAS GOOD. So...let's talk about the food. OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN! The Chicken is finger lickin' good. It probably has to be my favorite meat that they have - it is tender, they make their own BBQ sauce, and it is just the right of salty and sweet and good all over. Their ribs literally fall off the bone. And their tri-tip is just delicious! The sides! Cole slaw is super good. He puts on a spin on it with raisins but it definitely adds a bit of sweetness to it. His potato salad is bomb. HIs pasta salad is bomb. His everything is bomb. But the one thing which is SUPER DELICIOUS is this sweet potato yam pie side they make...holy effin moly, it melts in your mouth like sweetness overload and everything good in the world. Of the 70 people who were able to participate in the event, all 70 literally could not stop talking about it. A few of them returned the next day, and some have even become regulars. Since then, I've dined in, I've dined out with catered food to Cottonwood, and most importantly I've left happy EACH AND EVERY SINGLE TIME. This is a real gem, and definitely worth a try. Stopped by for lunch for the first time, the other day. Service and the friendliness of the staff was a joy to see. While the sandwich and BBQ sauce was just average, I found the coleslaw to be amazing. With the bits of apple and cranberries, it was tasty and sweet. The BBQ Sauce could be thicker. It was a bit thin for my taste. My grandson loved the garlic fries. The garlic is tossed on with butter, giving it a toasty flavor. The price wasn't the lowest or highest I've paid for decent food. And, considering the location, you'd have to drive quite a bit to find anything to eat. So, it's a toss up. All in all, a decent meal and good people read more

I knew I would be back. Tonight I ordered Pulled Pork Fries with cheese. Again nice ratio but the pork was moist, almost delicate. I enjoyed the coleslaw as it cleansed my palette for more BBQ.
