I went to this restaurant because of the Yelp reviews. They were Ali very good. The restaurant itself is stark with a few tables inside and picnic tables outside. You order your food and either come back to get it or they bring it to you. The staff is very friendly and will answer any of your questions. We got the rib platter which comes with two sides. I got sweet potato mash and coleslaw and my husband got collard greens and sweet potato mash potatoes. The ribs where delicious and came right off the bone. All the side dishes were fresh and delicious. If you enjoy BBQ food this is your place! read more

The lady took our order and had us sit outside to wait and brought it to us. I'm so glad we went there after failing to get any service elsewhere. Their ribs are good in general, just some parts are kind of dry. Brisket is too fat and there is almost no seasonings. Bakes beans are good.

DO NOT SQUEEZE THE BBQ SAUCE! It will explode on you if you do...but the staff will tell you that after you're drenched in it. My sister's bf wound up spilling it on his lap and it splattered all over my sister when he tried to pour some on his plate. My sister literally had sauce dripping off her arm. The staff blamed it on the fact that he squeezed too hard. You'd have to squeeze pretty hard to pop off a screw cap!! The top was in fact not put on properly. Used to think so highly of this place but my family and I will not go back after this experience. The staff and manager could have cared less; they showed zero sympathy for what occurred. A simple "I'm sorry" could have gone a long way. The manager said it after we called her out on it. Overall the staff has zero personality anyway. Absolutely amazing!!!! As "Southerners," we were a bit skeptical about a BBQ place in a vacation spot in NY, but we were blown away. Not only were the portion sizes spot on (and significantly more than previous restaurants), but the food was some of the best we've had anywhere. A nice smoky flavor with minimal sauce....bc if your bbq is good, you don't need to hide it under sauce. Even the kids enjoyed their meals. If you're staying to eat, you do have to wait a little while for your food as they are steady preparing to-go/pick up orders, but it's well worth it!! Solid BBQ with great smoky flavor. Stopped by after a trip to Montauk and was craving some ribs. I ordered a rib platter with cornbread, baked beans, and garlic smashed potatoes. Too many great options on the menu so I also ordered a duck quesadilla. (Should probably head to the gym as soon as I finish this review, haha). My fiance had a cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. Ribs were super tasty, fall off the bone tender, and smoky. Lost a few to my fiance, but was provided some of her cheeseburger and sweet potato fries as reparation for the offense. Burger was juicy, cooked perfectly to medium as she requested, and had good flavor. Sweet potato fries were also good. Cornbread and potatoes were also solid. Baked beans had a strong taste of onion which I liked but my fiance didn't. (She doesn't like onions. How dare she.) Duck quesadilla was tasty, but I would have preferred a bit more duck meat. I was incredibly disappointed with Smokin' Wolf. I walked in to order food for a train back to the city. We ordered sides and one entree (a sandwich off the menu). After waiting 20 minutes, we said we would need to leave to catch the train and they should cancel our order. Someone from the kitchen took our order sheet (it hadn't been started!) and said it would be ready soon. After another ten minutes of waiting, we left for the train without food. For a take-out/fast-casual restaurant, 30 minute is way too long to wait. I guess people 'in the know' order in advance and then pickup, but they should have given us an estimate on the wait. When we asked about timing the server said "I'm afraid to even estimate." The food looked good but I would not visit just because of the operational issues. Disappointed and hungry. read more

I came across this place while looking for a place to get a burger and a beer. I couldn't tell if they were open even though there was an "Open" flag flying in front. I walked in and was greeted by the last behind the counter. There are tables along one wall opposite the order counter. Not a lot of tables as it seems more of a take out place than a sit down (although I'm sure it will be packed once the summer season gets into full swing). And based on the food that I had, this place will be busy. I ordered a 2 meat platter with fries and mixed veggies to go. The platter also included a piece of cornbread. The 2 meats I picked were the ribs and the brisket. Both meats were moist, with the ribs falling off the bone. Both were excellent with just the right amount of smokiness. And just so you know, the fries were excellent as well. And they didn't get soggy on the ride home like so many other fries to go do. I have found my goto spot for smoked ribs! read more

Came here during our trip to the Hamptons. I didn't want to eat too much, so I got the nachos (appetizer) while my husband got the ribs entre. I was very disappointed with my experience here. There are tables both inside and outside the restaurant, but apparently they treat every order like a carry-out order. I certainly wish the menu had specified this, and the presentation could benefit from customers having the option of being served food on dinnerware or in to-go containers. I ordered the $10 fried mac & cheese bites as an appetizer and the $20 spice rubbed grilled salmon entree. I waited a very long time for my food, longer than would have been appropriate even in a fancy dinner restaurant, despite the fact that no one was in the restaurant when I came in (2 customers did pick up carry-out orders that had been called in ahead of time). When my food was finally brought to me, I saw the clerk pick up a paper tray that had been sitting on the counter for roughly 15 minutes and stack it on top of a plastic to-go dish. The mac & cheese bites had been sitting, not even under a heater, for the majority of the time I had been waiting! The clerk explained that he typically serves an entire order at one time; he did offer to have a fresh batch made, and those were brought relatively promptly. The other 2 people in my party each ordered separately, one did not even receive his order after the incredibly long wait without asking for it again, the other had to ask again for a side. The food itself was good, not spectacular. The prices were a bit high but not very much so for the area. The piece of salmon was quality and cooked well, but as a meal did not hold up to the menu description: "sweet corn" was a small quantity of kernels of corn scattered over the tray; the "herbed red potato hash" was neither red potatoes nor hash, it was white potatoes cut into large chunks; the "citrus salsa" was a tasty mango-based salsa, a good complement to the fish, but I could have used at least twice as much. (BTW, I typically judge a BBQ restaurant on its pulled pork, so before I decided on salmon I made sure someone else was ordering pork I could try - it was good, but not great. The chicken was actually my favorite of the 4 meats I tried.) I did appreciate that they offered cans of Montauk Brewing Company beer, but next time I'm hungry, I'll save myself $20 and head to the Goldberg's next-door for a grilled cheese sandwich and some of the best matzo ball soup I've ever had. read more

Noah X is rather shocked and disgusted to read the reviews on here that are critical of Smokin' Wolf, which are absolute nonsense and should not be trusted. Smokin' Wolf is hands down the best BBQ spot on the East End, and possibly all of New York. First, anyone who complains about Smokin' Wolf's ribs being over cooked must just not like bark (and by extension are insane because no normal people who eat smoked meat don't like bark). The bark on Smokin Wolf's ribs is what sets them apart from all other ribs in the region, transporting you deep into the heart of Texas even, in reality, with the Atlantic less than a mile away. With a perfect blend of spice and fat, these perfectly-cooked, hefty ribs fall off the bone and scream to be eaten. Second, for as good as the ribs are, it bears keeping in mind that Smokin' Wolf is, perhaps more than a BBQ restaurant, a Tex Mex restaurant, and on that front, there is perhaps no greater Tex Mex creation in the history of Texas, Mexico, and beyond than the Smokin' Wolf duck quesadilla. I can think of no foodstuff in the world that packs a better combination of sweet, savory, salty, and umami flavors than the duck quesadilla does. For context, this quesadilla contains smoked duck and mushrooms--totally quirky and totally delicious. The marriage of flavors here is so rich that you should have to sign a prenup before ordering. Third, to the point above, Smokin' Wolf has an extensive and versatile menu, offering something for everyone. If your expectation is for a pure BBQ restaurant with nothing but brisket until it runs out, then no, this is not that. But if there's only one restaurant I could order takeout from for the rest of my life, Smokin' Wolf would be it (and if I were on death row, my last meal). read more
