Very cute coffee shop! They have a couple bakery items on display and they all sounded super unique and yummy! Wish I could have tried more items, but I ordered the chocolate croissant, which had chocolate inside and cocoa powder dusted all over the top. One thing that made me really happy was the fact that their tiger latte came with oat milk and it was the same price as a standard drink!! So rare being able to order a nondairy coffee nowadays without being charged an extra $1. Would definitely like to return to try other menu items. They have some interesting pictures on the walls and it seems like a nice, quiet place to do some work as well. read more

It turns out that the Brea location had been conveniently located on the route of my weekly errands, so I decided to drop by. I did not know what to expect, but I did not expect the "expensive" breads and the eclectic drink menu, especially the Matcha Specialties and the Signature Drinks. By the time I had arrived on a Saturday afternoon, the pastries display was almost bare, with only a few here and there. The breads were special, but were also a bit too expensive as some cost more than a regular-sized Signature drink. After talking to the cashier/barista, I opted to order a Smoking Spaniard (regular and another decaf - both whole milk). Smoking Spaniard Smoking Tiger's take on the Spanish Latte! Espresso sweetened with a bit of condensed milk, a pump of hazelnut and a dash of cinnamon served over your choice of milk. The artwork on the to-go cup is very thoughtful and showcases Korean culture. The lid is also different than most, and I thoroughly enjoyed it more as it was easier to drink from. The Spaniard was delicious but not amazing. I did enjoy their take on the traditional Spanish Latte, but may try something different the next time I visit. There were a few occupied tables on the inside and also a few tables on the outside. One can order ahead through their website, at any of their 5 locations (mostly in the OC, with one in LA county). They do not accept cash, so make sure to bring card or etc. Overall, there really is not another coffee shop in the area that offers what Smoking Tiger does (i.e. drinks with black sesame, hojicha, mugwort, agave, yuzu, etc.), so there is not much competition besides the normal coffee shops of Starbucks or Coffee Bean, or even Reborn Coffee further down Imperial. Customer service was good and I liked how they stirred the drink flavors together before pouring in the steamed milk. Parking is plentiful in the strip mall. read more

Came here to study and grab coffee with a friend. There was quite a few people inside already so we did have to wait a bit at a table outside for a table inside with an outlet. In addition to the drinks there were a lot of pastries that looked really yummy. My friend got the strawberry matcha which hilariously she was disappointed by because they used the real premium matcha and she wanted the fake stuff haha. I got an iced Americano and went with the recommendation from the cashier for the espresso....I was disappointed because it was way too acidic. It does get a bit noisy because there is music and people talking but if you have headphones it shouldn't be a problem to sit here for an hour or two to get some work done. I made an order online an hour ahead of time. Then I called 10 minutes later to change my order, and they told me that they couldn't change my order because it was already made? Like that makes no sense. Why would you make an order almost an hour ahead of time and let the drinks sit with melted ice/watered down drinks? So when I arrive, they started to complete my drinks. So what they meant by "made my drinks already", all they really did was put syrup inside of a plastic cup, and put the cup in an ice box to keep it cold. And upon arrival, they just add milk and ice. Thats it. So why decline for me to change my drink order? Bad customer service. I really want to try their garlic bread, but unfortunately they only make a certain number in the morning and it sells out quickly. If its your most popular item, then why not make it all day if it sells the most? So I tried some other items, I tried a garlic scone and a matcha mochi scone, and can I just say that most of their pastries are at least $4.50-$6 for just ONE piece? Super expensive. Unfortunately none of the drinks tasted good, the scones were ok. Don't think I will be coming back again. read more

Great coffee, cute business, fun varietal of pastries. I knocked off a star because the tables weren't all cleaned, so the cafe didn't give me the warm fuzzies that made me want to stay. I felt like I needed to take my food and coffee and skedaddle out of there like a wild turkey on Thanksgiving. The customer service was meh. For such a cute cafe, it would've been nice to have warmer service where people greet you and are friendlier when you order. The prices were a little high too, in my opinion, but I think the coffee and teas they served were pretty fantastic. So as long as you don't mind cleaning your own table when you go, it's all good. read more

Cool Korean cafe. Esp nice to see one in Brea of all places too Coffee was alright - I got the smokin spaniard but it's not my drink of choice personally. Will try something else next time. It wasn't very comfortable so I probably wouldn't go back there to study. Blueberry Matcha 2.5/5 I wanted to try something new, but the flavors didn't really taste good together. It was sweet but the blueberry and matcha were faint and not very memorable. Tiger Latte 4/5 This was a good cup of latte: it has brown sugar, oat milk and a strong taste of caffeine. All the flavors were present and mixed well. Overall 3/5 They have a bakery inside. Since I just had dinner, I didn't get any bread, but it looked delicious. System always has issues here. Tiger latte is addicting and so delicious, and that's what I come here for. Came today for myself and my coworkers and again system was down. They were turning customers away. I thought of placing an order online which they didn't think of themselves, so you're welcome! Unfortunately, tiger latte is not an option online. They refused to substitute the Spanish latte for their tiger latte, even though it was the same price. And I literally just saved them money by telling their other customers to order online. Such a weird thing to refuse to do, especially for the additional 10 minutes they made me wait and ordering 4 drinks. Zero stars for customer service & quality of products. I ordered their seasonal drink (Sweet Potato Latte) was told it can only be served hot. Ok sure I'll try it. What I got was a barely warm latte. I asked the cashier if they could heat it up for me since who wants to drinks a room temperature latte? The cashier said yes, but then suddenly the barista jumped in and said No, you should have drank it when it first came out. Wow! Was I being gaslighted here? I told her it's been 2-3 minutes max since I picked up my latte and took the first sip. She did not bother to even feel the cup which would've felt not even warm to the touch. Then said sorry we can't do anything else, and turned her back to me. Wow! I couldn't believe that was the customer service I was receiving after paying for a barely warm latte. Most coffee shops stand by their products and have no issues remaking a drink if it is not up to standard (which this drink was not) I love supporting small businesses, but this one doesn't seem to care much about the quality of how their products are served or if their customers are satisfied. Lots of parking, in a big plaza. You can easily drive by because the shop used to be a bakery and they have temporary signage up over lights (probably easier to see during the day.) At last, easy menu to order from, good selection of speciality breads, cookies, etc. and they're open til 10pm. I came here to study and they have a decent amount of seating, with accessible outlets, and easy wifi access. Very friendly, welcoming and fast service. I ordered a classic matcha latte, light sweet which was good, but then decided to order their signature Tiger milk latte which was the best decision. Mmm. You know I'm a fan of this coffee joint. So glad they opened a new one in Brea -there wasn't a huge crowd Saturday afternoon but it does have plenty of seats and outlets. I think the Cerritos location still has the most bread options and seats but this place felt clean and spacious as well. I got their famous strawberry matcha which has never failed me. I first visited the DTF location, and I loved everything about it. I was ecstatic to hear they were opening a Brea location because it is now closer to school! Highly recommend the tiger latte, as the coffee is super smooth and the frothy foam from the oat milk truly elevates the drink, while maintaining just a subtle sweetness. The strawberry matcha latte is also great as expected with a nice kick of tartness! They also offer some kid-friendly drinks like strawberry lemonade and sparkling lemonade! Uh.. Smoking Tiger in Brea? SIGN ME UP! I was actually sad, truly sad, that I missed the grand opening (was out of town) but making up for lost time. Can't go wrong with jeju matcha latte (I prefer the hojicha more), their morning brewed coffee is so good. Then the iced tiger latte is brown sugar goodness. All their sparkling drinks are creative and delish. I do wish they bring back their citrus (think grapefruit?) black tea drink. So much nicer having it closeby, and I can actually have a selection of baked goods to pick from. Garlic lovers, .. yea get their garlic bread. It's fully garlicky, that stinkin' rose is nowhere near. I love their small Madeline's, in more Korean flavors. Scones are great, with previously mentioned brewed coffee. No more trekking to downtown fullerton, north Buena Park, or Artesia (yes I've visited those locations semi regularly through the years). So happy! I got the Perfect Storm Latte and it was pretty good! Very sesame-y. I wish it came with sweet cream or some kind of foam on top since the menu description says that it does but it actually doesn't :( Other than that, it was pretty good and perfectly sweetened! I came at a later time so their bread selection was pretty limited so I tried whatever was left. It was pretty good but some pastries were a bit overpriced given how small they are (some u can eat in one or two bites!) Good ambiance and space to catch up with friends but indoor seating is limited and not a lot of outlets. They play music and there's a lot of noise, so def wear noise canceling headphones if ur planning to study. Otherwise, I wouldn't come here to study. It's becoming clear to me that the proliferation of coffee shops in the last few years has gone unchecked, and that the only means for these establishments to generate foot traffic is to offer gimmickry besides coffee as a means of differentiation. Smoking Tiger is no different. In addition to its catchy name, it offers Asian-inspired pastries (Ube cookies, anyone?) and K-Pop merchandise, but alas their large Americano tastes flat despite selling at a premium price of well over $5 and their hot chocolate tastes more like powdered Swiss Miss! Happens to me twice :( I ordered house-brewed coffee, and a worker told me it had run out, so they needed to brew a new batch, which would take some time. I decided to wait. Guess what? I got lukewarm coffee. My guess is they poured 70% from the pot, then waited for a new batch for 20-30 minutes and poured the remaining 30%. This happened twice. This new location in Brea is a great place to do work and pick up a drink or snack. It's a smaller store, but plenty of room for tables. The employees were also really kind. I'm impressed with how their branding is going- love seeing this cafe's growth! The Matcha Latte here is always a good choice. I tried the Hojicha Latte which tasted like a little like milk tea. Great pastries and drinks! If I had to compare this joint to other cafes, it would be a step-up as to Starbucks and Coffee Bean. This Korean cafe had unique and intriguing drinks, all of which that I wanted to try. They also carry a variety of pastries that one would see at a Korean bakery, including the infamous Korean-style salt bread and garlic bread. I got the almond cream cheese with walnuts pastry and it was melt in your mouth amazing! The servers were quite nice and took their time to toast the bread and take it to my table! I've honestly been itching to come back here!! I'm just too lazy to make the drive with the heat and all. This is also a great place to study at! There's plenty of outlets and actually comfy seating, which is what ultimately leads me to compare this place to Starbucks and Coffee Bean. Going back to their drinks, there were so many that I wanted to try!! I had the Smoking Spaniard, which was a nice spanish latte that had a hint of cinnamon and hazelnut to it. They also had these peach seasonal drinks that I really want to try (someone else please review them and let me know lol). Overall, this is definitely a place I would go back to! read more
