Having forgotten about Mill Valley's anti-drive-through laws, I drove around the restaurant two or three times (looking for the drive-through) before I realized that they didn't have one. So, I parked, went inside, ordered my usual order, to-go, and sat down in a booth. A moment later, another guest walked up to me and asked, "Have you already ordered, or are you waiting for someone?" After I answered, she asked, "Is your order for here, or to-go?" After I answered once again, she asked me if her mother could sit with me. At this point, she gestured to an elderly woman with a cane. I immediately got up to give her my seat, but she said, "No, no, stay. By the time I order my food, your food will come up, anyway." The situation felt extremely awkward to me, but I decided to be polite, and try to roll with it. The woman and I introduced ourselves, and tried to make small talk. A moment later, as an employee was walking by, my new table-mate snapped her fingers in his direction, and let him know that our table had a little smudge on it. The employee ran over right away to clean it up. I used to be a server, and watching anyone snap at a restaurant worker is a little bit triggering, so this is when I decided to politely but firmly excuse myself. I was thinking, "This has to be the weirdest thing that's ever happened to me at an In N Out?" Finally, my number was called. "SIX SEVEN!" Hahahaha.... (actually, I read in an article that they discontinued that number) As usual, I had ordered a double double, animal style, no lettuce, extra tomato, add regular onion. Up to 2025, I'd never received an incorrect order from In N Out. Over the past year, I've gotten three-- but this was not one of them. My order was perfect. I was especially pleased to see three slices of tomato, and several pieces of pickles. I was pleased to see it dripping with sauce, with no lettuce. (I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I feel like putting lettuce on a burger absolutely ruins it.) The only downside to this burger was that it was a little under-seasoned, which actually kind of makes sense, considering the local demographics (because the demographic who lives in this area is the same demographic who is known for preferring bland, unseasoned food, and sometimes snaps at waiters). Overall, I was happy to receive a tasty correct order in a timely manner, and would definitely eat here again.

Ordered my usual grilled cheese w spread only, cheese fries, and a side of lettuce and tomato plus spread for my cheese fries. Oh and a small cherry coke with xtra xtra ice. The food is always good - it's dependable in taste and cost. You know what to expect. The service is friendly and fast - maybe a bit too fast. They called my number and I happily picked up my food and I noticed the spread was missing...got to my seat and noticed my side of lettuce and tomato were missing too. So yeah, maybe a little quality check wouldn't hurt. No worries, I didn't let any of this rain on my INO parade. And of course I'll be back!

Then an order of garlic fries and an IPA for about $30 total. We ordered at the kiosk while our other friends ordered from the counter. They got their food before us even though they ordered after us from a live person. Go figure. I have to admit the burger wasn't very big but it was juicy and the garlic fries were yummy. I'm glad we ate in as the burger and fries would have been soggy if we took it to go. I also ordered water but had to go get it myself. Why even put it on the menu? Also, the pickles had some heat which is good in my book.

Our kids sucked down there super small cokes that come in the combo while they waited for their food. As soon as we got our food, we pulled over and started eating the fries or some of the worst coldest driest rubbery fries I've ever gotten from any drive-through. The chicken sandwich was a joke. The bun was so dry and crumbly, I had to peel all of the rock hard edges off just to bite into the sandwich and when I did, the grilled chicken was rubbery, stale, and lukewarm I can't believe we waited so long and the food wasn't fresh. It tasted like it had been sitting there half the night before they gave it to us. I'm all for paying high price for quality food. If it's worth it, this sadly was not. all four of us got home and complained individually about our experience. Pretty sad for a $75 drive-through order which consisted of three combos and an extra hamburger. Definitely will make efforts to avoid this place in the future. I feel bad, giving poor ratings, but I also do not like when restaurants rest on their laurels have high priced food yet the quality and the experience don't match.

The $14.99 sandwich was pre-cut and full of thick pieces of steak. There was a ton of arugula and pickled red onion. This was a very good homemade tasting sandwich of great quality. The market itself is pretty low key, very dense and small. It has everything you need but it doesn't have the produce that I would normally get at a Whole Foods or Good Earth. The service was good and it was very convenient to go to. We will definitely come back to get sandwiches here whenever we have a picnic nearby. It was convenient. The redwood park nearby did not disappoint.

Eating on patio is super lovely on a nice day, counter ordering was fast, and staff friendly. Got both flavors of chowder ($12/bowl) and would recommend the white especially for the nuanced taste- herby, creamy? Couldn't place what was different but wasn't your average chowder! For the cod ($24), fish was very tender and came with a hearty helping of potato wedges.

We were hungry and in a rush to get to our boat rental and didn't even notice the specials. We got the red chowder, white chowder, soft shell bao tacos, fish tacos, pasta con vongole, and Louie salad for a group of 5. We took everything to go and had it on the boat. Everything was great especially the white chowder, fish tacos, and soft shell crab bao tacos, except the pasta con vongole was too salty. After looking at the pictures we decided we have to come back on Saturday. On Saturday the wait was 50 minutes, and the line went all the way around the fence. So many of the specials including the whole fish, which we went back for, got taken off of the list while we were waiting...tragic. If you're going on the weekend beware!! We ate in at the restaurant this time as we didn't have a reservation to get to. The outside was pretty hot and there's some seating inside and also in an adjacent room that nobody seemed to notice. We were still able to get 2 specials: rockfish ceviche and dumplings. The dumplings were so good - their homemade chili sauce is sweet and a mild spicy that builds. Rockfish was a bit lime-y, but a delicacy nonetheless. I would definitely come back on a weekday to enjoy the specials again!

Got there around 3pm and was told that a table for two would be about a 30 minute wait, so it was not as bad as we thought it would be, considering that the whole parking lot (which was probably the only downside; it being made of gravel and without distinct parking designations making finding a spot incredible difficult and annoying) was full. The inside vibe was great, with tons of people drinking/eating and having a good time. When we got seated, we ended up ordering just a few oysters and a 3pc fish and chips. The oysters were pretty good and fresh, with a great vinaigrette on the side to pair with them. The fish and chips, however, were the obvious stars of the show. The fish were nice and golden, with a very crisp texture, and more importantly large and generous. The fries were nicely seasoned and plentiful. The fish was really tasty (you can choose the type of fish depending on what they have on hand, and some cost extra between $2-$10. We chose the standard option for the day: Rockfish), easily one of the better fish and chips I have had - just an incredibly simple, but well executed dish. While the tartar sauce was a good pairing, the real standout pairing was Hook Fish's own carrot habanero hot sauce with the tartar sauce and the oyster vinaigrette. I have never had something like a carrot based hot sauce, but it really works by contrasting the spiciness of the habanero with a slightly sweet carrot undertone. Strange, but it gave the classic fish and chips a unique twist that sets it apart from the competition. While eating we saw tons of different dishes fly out the kitchen as well, such as poke burritos, large portions of chips and salsa/guacamole, and fish tacos. After the experience we had that day, we will be forsure making another round back to Hook Fish to try some of their other options. Their fish and chips are a must.
